Integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles into Islamic finance presents opportunities for aligning financial activities with sustainable and ethical considerations. While there are challenges and areas for improvement, the potential synergies and shared principles between ESG and Islamic finance provide a promising avenue for sustainable and socially responsible investment within Islamic finance. However, past studies have not thoroughly researched key aspects of Islamic finance, such as the sustainability concerns of Islamic deposits, their interaction with macroeconomic variables, and their particular impacts on firms. Therefore, this study aims to examine the macroeconomic and firm-specific effects on the sustainability of Islamic deposits. The sample in this study consists of 13 Islamic banks in Malaysia. The data period covers from 2018 until Quarter 3 of 2022. The data type is cross-sectional from secondary sources: Islamic banks' financial reports, Bank Negara Malaysia, Department of Statistics of Malaysia, and the World Bank. This study adopts a quantitative analysis approach using one dependent variable (Islamic deposits), three independent variables (gross domestic product, inflation, overnight policy rate), and one control variable (firm-specific). An estimated model using the panel data correlation and regression with the fixed effects model was conducted to test the developed hypotheses. Then, the panel data regression analysis continues with the Least Square Dummy Variable (LSDV), which includes the control variable to test the presence of the firm-specific effects. The findings show that only one macroeconomic factor, inflation, affects how well Islamic deposits are sustained. Savings and investing money are key issues for personal finances, strongly corresponding to the economies of developed countries, where citizens have the opportunity not only to settle their liabilities on an ongoing basis from their income, but also to accumulate funds for future plans. They may be aimed at both savings and investment purposes, the degree of risk of which varies depending on the selection of the financial instrument. The paper focuses on the assessment of the profitability of deposits and treasury bonds, in relation to the preferences of Polish customers of commercial banks, under proposed changes in the limitation of capital gains tax.

In this paper, we theorize a novel mechanism by which technology-based banking services – automated teller machines (ATMs), point of sale (POS), mobile and internet banking – stimulate bank deposit growth based on observed practical experiences. The autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bounds-testing and Granger causality approach were used to analyze the short-run, long-run and causal relationships among the variables for the period of 2006 quarter 1 to 2019 quarter 4. Since a long-run cointegrating relationship exists among the variables, the study proceeded with an error correction model (ECM). The results of the ARDL-ECM based analysis revealed that number of ATMs and value of POS transactions have a significant positive relationship with total bank deposits in Nigeria, both in the short run and long run. Those of mobile and internet banking were found to be negative and insignificant signifying that there is still low penetration of mobile and internet banking in Nigeria. Also, the Granger causality test result revealed that only the number of ATMs has a causal influence on bank deposits, suggesting that continuous deployment of ATMs by commercial banks is seen as the best strategy to boost deposit growth. Based on the findings, the study recommends that banks in Nigeria need to partner with the telecommunication sector to improve their network coverage and provide a fast and reliable network that is necessary for mobile and internet banking to thrive. Bank deposits increased sharply in 2020, continuing in 2021, in countries with advanced economies and emerging countries alike. The pandemic caused savings to increase for precautionary reasons. At the same time, the lockdown compressed spending, but deposits are now a financial resource that could be used to boost the recovery of consumption and investments. There was an increase in deposits in Islamic countries, but this was less marked. The fall in GDP in 2020 in all of the Islamic countries considered, with the sole exception of Bangladesh (+5%), was met with an increase in deposits, but not such as to be thought of exceptional magnitude. An acceleration was recorded in Indonesia, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, with increases only moderately higher than in the previous year. Several drivers can explain this trend, some of which are attributable to Islamic principles. In assessing the role of Islamic finance and bank deposits, financial inclusion is also critical. Despite gradually increasing, the level of financial inclusion, which is high in countries with the highest income (the Gulf countries), shows a large margin for potential growth. Especially in the less rich Islamic countries, there exists a problem of mobilising resources and providing a custody function for the financial resources of households and businesses. The proliferation of fintech channels, primarily through mobile phones, can contribute significantly to financial inclusion, particularly among young people. Prospects are positive thanks to the confluence of some factors (such as the strong demand for both Sharia-compliant and ESG products).

This paper focuses on analyzing theoretically how an ordinary investor may shape his investment decision. Choosing from a multitude of assets may be a great challenge, especially for a person who is not savvy with financial investment, securities, or generally speaking, allocating money in order to gain profit. Well, discussing some basic investment alternatives like deposits, t-bills, or commodities, and suggesting a simplified method of investment analysis, can actually help any individual make learned decisions which lead to preserving or increasing the value of the net worth.

The current norms governing deposit banking activities are the result of a centuries-old evolution of the construct of bank account, the legal nature of bank account, the subject of deposit, and banking institutions themselves. Different civilizations and cultures have contributed to the shaping of deposit activities. The aim of the article is to present and discuss, from a historical-legal point of view, the origin and unfolding of deposit banking activities over time: from antiquity, through the Middle Ages, the early modern period, to modern times. The deliberations are set against a broader financial and legal backdrop to include the transformation of economic power that accompanies deposit activities, expressed in the form of: commodity money, bullion, paper money, and funds. The picture of evolution is completed by the emerging institutions of supervision, capital requirements or deposit guarantee schemes, constituting a series of normative solutions adopted due to the need to provide a framework for deposit activities that would prioritize the security of the depositor. The study, due to its historical-legal character within the scope of detailed sciences, does not aim at applying the conclusions in legal practice or in the theoretical-legal dimension. It serves to collect and show the already acquired historical-legal knowledge about the foundations of contemporary normative solutions of bank deposit activities. In order to achieve the research goal, the study uses the research method of critical literature review. Thus, a reference was made to scientific historicallegal and historical studies, from the point of view of a selected research problem, which has not been elaborated in a cross-sectional manner so far. The article analyzes the instruments to improve the solvency of economic entities proposed both by specialists and scientists. This analysis leads the authors to the conclusion that the mistakes in forming the list of these procedures result from ignoring the content of the concept “solvency”, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, from using the improper methods to assess the level of solvency. The authors offer to use the factor of comparability over time of accounts payable and assets allocated to repay the liabilities to creditors as a basic criterion for correctness of the solvency ratio. As a tool to improve the solvency of the entity the authors propose to amend the financial statements by adding the items on maturities of liabilities to the items listing the types of payables, As a second tool the authors propose to use a bank deposit as a mechanism to put together the creditors requirements to guarantee the liabilities repayment and the requirements of the management of an entity to ensure the of financial investments efficiency. The article describes three main conditions of forming the bank deposit: the ability to manage it; a minimum balance requirement, objectivity of the value of a deposit related to its targeting. The procedures of forming a bank deposit are presented for enterprises with different types of cash flows: regular, periodic, one-time.

The article examines investment tools available for use by a wide range of citizens. The purpose of this paper is finding investment instruments that can perform the function of the systemic economic development. It is suggested that such tools should have the following characteristics:Are available for investment to the average citizenEnsuring a positive return after adjustments for inflation and deducting costsThe funds raised with the help of such an instrument are directed to the development of the economy.The latter feature is particularly relevant since Russia’s share in the global economy is declining as the result of slowing GDP growth.In our work, we used the following research methods: study, measurement, comparison and generalization. Thus, as a result of the study of investment instruments, we identified the advantages and disadvantages of each investment instrument. For the retrospective period, we estimated the returns, which should receive investors after adjustments to the level of inflation and costs. Further, we compared the characteristics of individual investment instruments and estimated their potential as instruments capable performing the function of systemic development of the economy. As investment tools available for use by the average citizen, there was investigated: currency, precious metals, real estate, bank deposits, deposits in micro-finance companies, securities (Federal loan bonds, corporate bonds, stocks), mutual funds, individual investment accounts opened with the professional trustee, investment life insurance. As a result, we draw conclusions concerning the potential of each instrument as a tool for the systemic development of the economy, as well as giving recommendations on the use of investment instruments, depending on the preferences of investors.

Bank deposits have been known even since the Antiquity. From the legal perspective, the bank deposit was always covered with due care and received the deserved attention, while regulations generally reflected the current views, from the legal, economic, social, cultural and religious perspectives. The new Civil Code, applicable in Romania starting from October 1st 2011, brings a new element within article 2191. The fund deposit, a change that is situated against the millennial regulations of the deposit contract, when it specifies that “Subsequent to the constitution of a fund deposit at a credit institution, it gains propriety over the deposited amounts of money”. Even since the Antiquity, the Roman jurists have caught the economic and judicial nature of the unregulated deposit contracts that emphasized the depository’s obligations. The religious obscurantism of the Middle Ages did not allow the differentiation between the deposit contract and the loan contract as passive operations meant to attract the financial resources of the bank. Nowadays, the confusion still exists and fuels the financial instability. Even since the emergence of accounting as a science, the bank deposit has been seen as a financial asset for the depositor and a debt for the banker. The accuracy of the accounting information regarding the bank deposits is validated and confirmed through the internal and/or external auditing procedures.

Article on the topic "Bank deposit as a direction of investment activity’s activation of insurers in life insurance" is dedicated to the analysis of the financial condition and the free funds of insurance companies. Bank deposit is the most famous financial instrument, but little attention is paid to it from the study of the deposit as an object of investment. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to consider a bank deposit as a source of intensification of the investment activity of insurance companies. The article collected and processed information about banks, their condition in the financial market, which allowed to identify the main participants of the banking sector. The rating analysis showed high scores, which are confirmed by indicators of the size of assets, capital, loan portfolio, financial results of banking institutions as the leaders of the banking system. In terms of the proposed criteria for a banking institution, as an investment partner in order to reduce the risk of non-profitability of the project, the most reliable banks with a stable financial and economic status were selected in the market of banking services. Banking institution plays a role of an object that deposits funds of insurance companies for a long-term period. In addition to this, bank deposit was considered as an object of investing funds for insurers for long-term accumulation of funds. The analysis of deposit proposals, financial and economic state of banking services in banks was conducted. The deficiencies of the banking system of Ukraine in the field of long-term accumulation of funds are revealed, as well as, the imperfections in accumulation of funds are described. Investment project is proposed, planning for the investment income with regards to the storage of temporarily free assets of insurance companies is conducted. In the process of research, the authors have improved approaches to develop and define investment projects: the definition of "reliable bank", analysis of its deposit offers, forecasting of investment return on deposit commitment. To activate the investment activity of insurance companies, life insurance for an investment proposal is designed according to the direction of placement of insurance reserves in bank deposit. Thus, the analysis showed that the planned indicators considerably exceed the actual figures of companies’ investment income.

This study is based on part of an integrated project which aim at finding the Permissions in all chapters of Islamic Jurisprudence in the four schools of taught, either it is mentioned textually or derived from efforts or modern way to realize the effect of the needs in it. This study treats some Permissions whether it is mentioned in an explicit textual ruling or in the modern way in the Chapters of Sabq, shuf`a and wadee`ah. The methodology of this study is to expatiate the Radix Matter (Determination) of every permission, then explains the proofs of the Radix, the exceptional matter, the permission it’s reason and type and scholar’s views, then study of Radix matter`s proofs, in terms of authenticity and indication to the subject matter in case the Permission is not stated. clarifying prevention in the Radix Matter if its Original or Bridging fill the pretext and explain the type of need either General or personal and finally expatiate how far the needs affect the permissiveness. The paper aims to describe how the amount of retail customers' bank deposits has changed as a result of launching the fi nancial transaction tax in Hungary. The liquidity premium related to all bank deposits off ered by Hungarian banks will be analysed and its amount will be calculated from the transfer costs on the supply side. The objective of the research is to measure liquidity premium at sector level. When analysing the liquidity premium, both the size of the invested amount and duration of the deposit are tackled. Since the size of liquidity premium may considerably aff ect competition on the market, the paper tries to model this relationship and estimate the value of the corresponding parameters. In order to conduct an effective monetary policy, the Central bank should have a clear understanding of the mechanism of the money transfer and the importance of different transmission channels, and the impact of these transmission channels on the sectors of the economy, especially on the manufacturing sector.
