This paper seeks to explore whether bank credit (BC) contains useful information for mitigating economic policy uncertainty (EPU). The results of the bootstrap rolling-window test show that EPU is an effective channel for triggering BC. Additionally, it finds a feedback effect of BC on EPU, indicating that BC is a favorable tool for predicting EPU. Rising policy uncertainty leads banks to adopt aggressive or conservative credit strategies, which further increases policy adjustments. This circular relationship seems to be caught in a chicken or egg dilemma, demonstrating the importance of the government and the banking system in maintaining economic stability. The complexity of the financial environment and the international community makes the capital flow face various challenges, and it is difficult to obtain accurate credit prediction results in the actual application environment. Considering the complex non-linear characteristics of customer information, the Analytic Hierarchy Process is studied to meet the needs of bank credit risk assessment. On this basis, a depth neural network with different complexities was selected for the three indicators built to classify the features. The composition of the neural network module and the number of neurons were determined by experiment, and Dropout was used to prevent overfitting of the test dataset. Stability and ablation experiments showed that the model can control the error between datasets to 0.021. The ablation experiment showed that the numbers of hidden layers and neurons were the best. Simulation tests showed that the sensitivity and accuracy of this method were 85.25% and 92.55%, respectively, which were superior to other classification methods. The real data of banks in the past four years were tested. The results could accurately classify the risks of enterprises and individual customers, and the results of stress test showed that the model is stable. It is found that traditional credit risk assessment models rely on statistical means and rule decisions, and these methods may not fully reveal the complex non-linear relationship and the internal relationship of financial indicators in high-dimensional data. The combination of deep learning technology and hierarchical analysis can better deal with and explain the complex non-linear problems in bank risk assessment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper analyzes empirically the existence of the credit channel of monetary policy in Mexico, that is, the relationship between changes in the target interest rate and variations in credit granted by commercial banks. The study combines aggregate information with data from the individual balance sheets of commercial banks and conducts a panel data regression analysis. The analysis is performed for total credit and its components (business, consumer, and mortgage). Additionally, by using banks' accounting information, it explores whether the transmission mechanism occurs on the supply side. It is found that there is a negative and economically significant relationship between interest rate and credit, and such a relationship is established for different types of credit. Furthermore, evidence suggests that the transmission mechanism operates on the supply side, as banks with more robust balance sheets exhibit greater resilience to changes in the interest rate. This study explores the impact of being "green" as a response to variability in the business environment. We examine the financial resilience of green Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Italy compared to non-green during the COVID-19 pandemic. We verify whether green SMEs are more able to attract external funding than non-green and whether green SMEs rely more heavily on trade credit than non-green ones. We carry out an analysis with 215,564 observations, of which 6844 refer to "green" firms, over the period 2017–2020 and we find that before and during the pandemic, Italian green SMEs do not attract more external funding than other SMEs, but they rely more on trade credit than non-green SMEs. Our results partially confirm the traditional substitution effect, and we suggest that the reasons for this relationship are also supplied in the literature which sees trade credit as a component of a long-term portfolio management strategy, i.e., as a tool for consolidating relationships with clients, for price discrimination and/or for increasing firm profitability in facing variable demand conditions. Our paper contributes to the literature in two ways. First, it investigates the relationship between the "green" characteristics of a firm and its level of economic and financial resilience during the pandemic. Second, it verifies whether, during a complex economic shock, green orientation increases or decreases the importance of trade credit relative to bank credit in financing the firm. This paper studies 10 Asian economies' experiences during two episodes of financial crises in 1997–08 and 2007–09. Our analysis of five crisis‐hit Asian countries shows that overinvestment via credit expansion and foreign financing has an adverse effect on banking sectors while income inequality contributes significantly to financial distress. With five no‐crisis emerging markets included in our Asia analysis, we find that export‐oriented growth backed up by domestic savings is financially less risky than investment‐led growth facilitated by capital inflows. Since such different strategies of output growth to deal with falling demand are related ultimately to the same factor–rising inequality, this distributional problem must be overcome effectively to enhance financial stability and ensure growth sustainability. The predominance of bank credit in financing the economies of less developed countries is prompting policymakers to stimulate this mode of financing. This study tests the ability of conventional monetary policy to stimulate the supply of bank credit to the private sector in Morocco. Based on the lending channel as a theoretical framework, an analytical framework to explore the conduct of monetary policy and the preconditions for the functioning of this channel was developed. In addition, a test of the impact of monetary policy on credit supply was conducted using bank-level data from a representative sample of the Moroccan banking sector. The results show that demand factors and the quality of potential borrowers are the main drivers of bank credit growth. They also show that monetary policy in Morocco directly affects credit growth. However, no evidence that this impact is mediated through credit supply was provided, indicating that the credit channel is not operational in Morocco. The policy implications of these results are discussed.

Research background: Bank credit access plays a determining role in enterprises’ financial growth, competitiveness, and internationalization. However, most entrepreneurs are afraid of being rejected from their credit applications due to financial disadvantages that reduce their probability of receiving credits. To minimize credit access concerns, their entrepreneurial behaviors that are included in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), such as personal attitude (PA), perceived behavioral control (PBC), and subjective norm (SN), might be a good solution. However, depending on cultural differences, their attitudes regarding these factors might change, which also causes changes in firms’ probability of receiving credit. Purpose of the article: This research aims to examine whether the impact of PA, PBC, and SN on credit access of enterprises differ depending on the countries where they do their business. Methods: The researchers investigate 1367 enterprises from different countries. These firms are selected using a purposive sampling method, and then an online questionnaire is sent to the survey respondents. Binary Logistic Regression analyses are performed for analysis purposes. Findings & value added: The results indicate that while the impact of PA on bank credit access does not differ depending on the countries where firms are located, international differences exist in the impacts of PBC and SN on the credit access of enterprises. This paper finds international differences in the impact of RBV’s intangible assets (PA, PBC, SN) on a tangible asset of RBV (financial capability) and explains these results with the factors (economic, political, legal systems) included in Institution-based View, and brings all components of both theories RBV and Institution-based View in a unique research. Financial and educational support from governments and universities for fresh graduate individuals can stimulate entrepreneurial attitudes and financing abilities of prospective entrepreneurs to overcome credit access obstacles. AbstractThis research investigates the impact of monetary policy instruments employed by the Bank of Indonesia (BI), including reserve requirement (GWM), policy rate, and loan-to-value (LTV) ratio, on bank credit by sector in Indonesia. We utilize FMOLS and DOLS techniques to estimate the effects of policy instruments and COVID-19 variables on bank credit across six clusters of provinces. Our findings indicate that the GWM exhibits a negative impact, while the policy rate positively influences bank credit in all non-household sectors in Indonesia. The LTV instrument significantly affects bank credit in household sectors. Furthermore, The Covid-19 pandemic’s influence on the relationship between each policy instrument and bank credit varies across economic sectors and provincial clusters. We recommend BI to utilize the GWM and LTV instruments more frequently and exercise caution in reducing the policy rate to very low levels, as excessively low interest rates may not incentivize banks to increase lending. This article scrutinises China's unexpected economic ascent as an industrial dynamo despite an underdeveloped institutional framework, driven by a fusion of the Currency and Banking School arguments. Our discourse focuses on the reorganisation of endogenous money in post-Communist China, which significantly fortified the domestic economy. We employ a two-tiered framework, firstly linking the Currency vs. Banking School debate to the crucial role of domestic bank credit creation in economic development. Subsequently, we anchor this within the context of the post-Mao reforms, illustrating how 'inside money' is deployed in a top-down manner to real industry via a bottom-up and decentralised organisational design. The emergent Chinese political economy is in our view defined by the amalgamation of neo-statist and neo-liberal credit market policies. The financial performance of SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) plays a crucial role in bank credit access of these enterprises and the economies of countries where they operate. However, firm' executives' Resource-based View (RBV) characteristics can differently affect the financial performance of SMEs that they manage, therefore, credit access of SMEs can differ. In this regard, this paper aims to analyze whether the impact of financial performance on bank access to finance differs depending on executives' educational status, gender, and sectoral experience or not. In line with this aim, this research collects data from 479 randomly selected respondents by directing an online questionnaire. After that, the research data is analyzed by employing a Binary Logistic Regression Test. According to the results, the impact of financial performance on credit access differs depending on the gender and sectoral experience of firms' executives. The investigation was oriented to determine the relationship between private credit, total deposits and gross domestic product in the economy of Ecuador. The study is contextualized in the quantitative epistemological approach, the positivist paradigm. The type of research is correlational, supported by a documentary, non-experimental, retrospective and longitudinal design, taking as a source of information the quarterly data of the Central Bank, in the period 2007-2022. For data processing, the Granger causality test was used, which allowed the determination of short- and long-term relationships in the period 2007T1-2022T3, to later complement the analysis with the Engle-Granger Cointegration test to verify the existence of a long-term relationship between the variables to estimate the cointegration vector and validate it by fulfilling the Gauss-Markov assumptions. The results show that there is no bidirectional causality between the variables under study, but they are cointegrated in the long term at the level of their growth rates, since they are not stationary and have become integrated of order (1), this should to the low percentage of credit to the private sector with respect to GDP, even more so that allocated to productive activities, this is reflected in the miniscule participation of the financial sector GDP in total GDP, going from 2.55% in 2007 to 3.59% in 2019. This study compares the short- and long-term relationships between house prices and bank credit in developed and Emerging Market Economies. This fact is an essential issue because most financing is facilitated by bank credit. Using quarterly data from 22 developed and six Emerging Market Economies and the panel autoregressive distributed lag model method, this study found that real house prices are the prominent factor of bank credit. Moreover, the magnitude of house prices and gross domestic product relationship with domestic bank credit is considerably greater in Emerging Market Economies than in developed nations. Meanwhile, the foreign interest rate on bank credit is nearly four times greater in Emerging Market Economies. Further, the exchange ratecredit relationship is positive for developed countries, whereas negative for Emerging Market Economies. Therefore, authorities maintaining financial stability must pay close attention to real house price dynamics. This paper investigates the impacts of preferential credit policy, faced by capital constraint retailers, on coordinating the supply chain. Apart from different bank's and manufacturer's risk preferences, preferential credit is also affected by the retailers' exogenous collateral. We establish the preferential credit coordinating model (PCCM) to examine the optimal decisions and coordinate the supply chain with different financing channels, such as the preferential bank loan, preferential trade credit and portfolio credit. In this paper, we conclude some critical findings. Firstly, we find that the retailer's optimal would improve its optimal order quantity in the coordinated supply chain when he finances from a risk-pursuing bank or the manufacturer. Secondly, the retailer's financial cost would be shared with the manufacturer whether the retailer utilises preferential trade credit or bank financing channel. Thirdly, the capital constraint retailer would prefer preferential trade credit to the other financing methods for the purpose that the preferential trade credit could improve the coordinated supply chain's efficiency. Finally, we capture different impacts of collateral and risk preference on the supply chain. The relationship between ICT, the financial sector, and output growth has been extensively studied, however, macro-economic studies with an emphasis on the role of rural ICT on agricultural performance are few and yield mixed findings. Additionally, past research has not given sufficient attention to how bank credit affects agricultural performance. This paper highlighted the dynamic effect of rural ICT penetration and bank credit on agricultural performance in Eastern Indonesia. We used secondary data taken from the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Financial Services Authority. The panel data covered 16 provinces of eastern Indonesia from the first semester of 2010 to the second semester of 2022 (2010S1-2022S2). Using the panel autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) approach, the results showed that in the long run, rural ICT penetration and bank credit played a significant role in boosting agricultural performance. However, in the short run, the impact of rural ICT penetration and bank credit on agricultural performance was statistically insignificant. In a monetary economy of production, Say's law is invalid for several reasons. Based on some refutations, it is possible to state that revenues generated by the production process are structurally lower than the supply price of production, which means that firms create insufficient purchasing power to buy what they produce. Herein, we study the dynamics of such an economy and obtain two main results. First, the long-term debt level of that economy must increase during a growth phase to enable demand to grow at the same pace as supply. Second, because of the repayment of this debt, the gap between supply and net revenues generated by the production process widens along a growth phase. This study investigates the loan financing behaviours of Korean firms during the COVID-19 pandemic. I find that financially unhealthy firms and firms with insufficient collateral capacity borrowed less during the pandemic, suggesting that lenders consider credit risk in their lending decisions. Meanwhile, the results provide evidence of credit misallocation. Particularly, zombie firms were able to increase their borrowings and firms increased their borrowings irrespective of their profitability and uncertainty. This paper analyzes the direct and interactive effect of digital payments through institutional quality, consumption expenditure, and bank credit on economic growth for 25-member countries of the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI) for 2012–2020. Using the Fixed Effect with Driscoll-Kraay Panel Corrected Estimators, it finds that a rise in digital payments positively impacts economic growth. The interaction effect of digital payments with other variables does not promote economic growth. To address differences among the selected countries and to have a robust analysis, the paper classified the selected countries into quantiles based on the GDP per capita level using the Bootstrapped Panel-Quantile Regression (BPQR) method. The BPQR confirms the positive relationship among digital payments, institutional quality, and consumption expenditure with economic growth, whereas credit impacts it negatively. The application of the use of different types of loans in the real organization of agricultural production in Republic of Serbia was the focus of the authors of the study. The goal of the research was to determine the existence of legality based on the analysis of 7 factors affecting the loans of agricultural farms and medium-sized agricultural enterprises, namely: limit, repayment delay, efficiency, average exchange rate, possibility of repayment, increase in production, currency, as well as the overall score of all analyzed factors as well as the total score. Using the t test (Table 1), the authors found that there are significant differences in the evaluation of all 7 analyzed factors (p<0.0005*). In addition, the authors determined that there are significant differences in the evaluation of the use of three types of loans (p<0.0005*) by agricultural farms and medium-sized agricultural enterprises in the Republic of Serbia. The unorganised event management sector comprises a significant portion of the overall event industry in India. These are small businesses that provide event planning and management services. These firms operate without proper structure or organisation, making it difficult for them to compete with larger organised firms. However, unorganised event management firms have strengths that allow them to provide services to clients that organised firms may not be able to provide. Though, due to the lack of proper infrastructure, stiff competition and financial support, many event organisers operating in the unorganised sector face various challenges. The banks can play a vital role in supporting these event organisers by providing them with financial assistance and other services. This study investigates the effect of bank credit on the business performance of unorganised event management firms. The study covers 230 unorganised event organisers from the Salem district. The qualitative data were collected by using a well-crafted questionnaire. The study result proved that bank credit has significantly influenced the business performance of event management firms. Event organisers are satisfied with their business performance. Moreover, bank credit has substantially influenced business performance in developing a capacity to conduct multiple events simultaneously, business growth, return on investment, profitability, competitive advantage, purchase of new equipment and adoption of recent technology. The study recommended that banks should frame adequate policies to support small business firms to access bank credit without any hindrance. Hence, to face challenges, event management firms should invest in proper organisational structure, recruit experienced professionals, and implement efficient planning and execution processes. In recent years, risk has been increasingly a long-term environmental problem that cannot be underestimated due to its tremendous impacts on various sectors including banking sector. Accordingly, the credit supply to private and public sectors is affected by the increased climate risk. In order to examine the climate risk effect from an international comparison, this paper empirically investigates the impact of climate risk on credit supply by using a sample of 174 countries during 2000–2019 from the perspective of the difference between private and public sectors. The results show that climate risk has a significant negative effect on the credit supply to private sector and a positive effect on that to the public sector. Further, we provide new evidence that the climate risk effect has a more significant effect on the private and public sector credit supply in the high-income countries than that in the low-income countries, suggesting a quick risk contagion in the high-income countries. Using a comprehensive dataset of Italian small and medium-sized enterprises, we find that differences between private and public information on firm creditworthiness affect the decision to issue bonds. Our evidence supports favorable (rather than adverse) selection in corporate bond markets. Specifically, holding public information constant, firms with better private fundamentals are more likely to access bond markets. These effects are weaker for opaque firms and stronger for firms with worse publicly observable risk. Additionally, credit conditions improve for issuers following the bond placement, compared with a matched sample of non-issuers. This is consistent with a model where banks offer more flexibility than markets during financial distress and firms use market lending to signal credit quality to outside stakeholders. This research is intended to analyze the credit agreement in the Indonesian banking sector can be done through authentic deeds or underhand deeds. The author uses Socio Legal Legal Research Methods or commonly used with the term empirical juridical research. Empirical legal research, namely data obtained directly from the community as the first source through field research . Credit agreements that are regulated through authentic deeds have the advantage of strong evidentiary power, because the authentic deed is made before a notary or authorized employee according to the law in the place where the deed is issued. On the other hand, agreements arranged through underhand deeds between banks and debtors still have legal validity but are not as strong as authentic deeds because they do not have authorization from authorized officials and are not supported by witness signatures. Concerning collateral in the form of a mortgage certificate, the making of which is carried out by a Land Deed Official (PPAT) and a mortgage certificate issued by the Land Office as proof of mortgage rights in accordance with Article 14 paragraph (1) of Law No. 4 of 1996. In the implementation of non-performing loan settlements, the role of notaries as authentic deed makers is very important. After the settlement of bad debts between banks and customers through an alternative settlement process, namely the Debtor's Juridical Agreement and the Debtor's Juridical Mandate (AYDA) to obtain strong evidence, it is necessary to make an authentic deed by a Notary. This is based on Article 1866 of the Civil Code which regulates evidence, which includes written evidence, evidence with witnesses, suspicion, recognition, and oaths. The findings and conclusions obtained by the researcher in the form of suggested changes in Article 12 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 10 of 1998 concerning Amendments to Law Number 7 of 1992 concerning Banking are the importance of replacing the phrase "commercial bank" with "every bank" to conform to the principles of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. It is hoped that this change can provide equality in authority and freedom for all banks in taking over collateral through an auction process to resolve non-performing loans faced by these banks.

The purpose of this article is to examine the impact of the working capital in the borrowing decision of a retailer. The proposed analysis is based on a model with a retailer, a supplier and a bank in a non-cooperative game with price-sensitive demand. The retailer, the supplier and the bank (if concerned) determine, respectively, the ordering quantity, the wholesale price and the interest rate. A Stackelberg game-theoretic approach is employed where the retailer is a follower and either the supplier or the bank is the leader. Some structural properties are first derived from the mathematical models. Then, some numerical simulations show that: (i) a trade credit guarantees the same profits for the retailer and the supplier as in the case where the retailer has sufficient cash holdings, (ii) there exist some situations where the retailer has a better profit with a borrow than with sufficient cash holdings, and (iii) borrowing decision depends on both retailer's and supplier's discount rate and the retailer's cash holdings. In a period where excessive consumption is encouraged by global markets, a person who is burdened with debt is exposed to more frequent problems in fulfilling the debt obligation. This problem is deepened by the burden of interest, and the stress caused by this situation directly affects family relations. In the debt relationship established with the bank, every failure in loan repayments leads to violence, incompatibility, divorce, suicide, and mental health problems within the family, and public health deteriorates gradually. This danger is particularly pronounced in middle- and lower-income groups, as these groups, with limited wealth and accumulated capital, are more likely to fall into a debt spiral compared to other higher income groups. This study aims to elaborate on the multidimensional impact of bank loans, which middle- and lower-income family members apply to overcome their financial difficulties, on the family system over time. In this sense, the study compares the roles in the family and the wellbeing of intra-family communication before the first contact with the bank loan with the change in these roles and relationships after the use of the loan. The study compares the findings from the interviews with the hypothesis that although bank loans provide short-term solutions to overcome difficulties, in the medium and long term, the family system is adversely affected by the stress of indebtedness and loan repayment. The sample consists of 24 married, divorced or separated adult individuals. The inclusion criterion was that the participants had applied for a bank loan at least once, especially for consumption, personal or vehicle loans. Investment loans were excluded from the scope of the study. During the data collection process, data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The data obtained by transcribing the audio recordings were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. The study evaluates and conveys the results with 15 different codes and 4 different themes. At the point where the data reached saturation and new data repeated the previous ones, the data collection process was stopped. According to the results obtained from these themes, it is observed that a significant portion of the participants applied for new loans in order to repay their existing debts or to pay off previously taken out loans. Based on the religion factor that emerged in the second theme, the burden of interest and the inability to pay the loan debt on time led to the failure of the planned business and further deterioration of the family's financial situation. This embodies the concept of "lack of abundance" expressed by the participant and leads to a situation of reduced productivity, peace and satisfaction. In the next theme, it was frequently mentioned by participants that debt stress leads to significant changes in family dynamics and relationships. In this context, arguments between spouses, pressure on children and loss of overall family peace can be considered as consequences of financial stress and pressure. Similarly, the fourth theme explains that the stress of debt in loan repayment, combined with social and material conditions, worsens family relationships. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We study a supply chain with two competitive online sellers, in which the seller who suffers from capital distress may borrow from a commercial bank or an e-commerce platform. We consider three different supply chain models depending on how many sellers suffer from capital distress. We characterize the sellers' optimal production decisions and the lenders' optimal interest rates, and further examine the sellers' financing preferences. We demonstrate that the e-commerce platform will charge a zero interest rate to the financially constrained seller if the production cost is beyond a certain threshold. It is observed that the financially constrained seller's financing preference is correlated with the capital status and financing choice of its rival. Specifically, if only one of the sellers is financially constrained, it is always optimal for the capital-constrained seller to borrow from the e-commerce platform. In contrast, if both sellers suffer from capital distress, the two sellers prefer e-commerce platform financing when the e-commerce platform's commission rate is relatively high or when the commission ratio is low while the production cost is high. The purpose of this article is to analyse the impact of partisan conflict on bank credit, and take the global financial crisis as the time node to analyse the variability of this impact before and after the financial crisis. This article examines the impacts of partisan conflict on the bank credit by employing the US data covering the past 40 years and captures the variability in the effects of partisan conflict based on the rolling sample and time-varying parameter VAR analysis. The full sample results reveal that one standard deviation partisan conflict shock will shrink the bank credit growth rate to nonfinancial sectors, and the negative effects of partisan conflict on bank credit are more substantial after the global financial crisis. The rolling sample and time-varying parameter VAR analysis further confirm that the impacts of partisan conflict shock have varied substantially over time, where bank credit still negatively reacts to the impacts of partisan conflict in recent periods. Additionally, we estimate two extended models and support the intermediate role of economic policy uncertainty in transmitting the partisan conflict and the substitution effect of cross-border bank lending on domestic bank credit. Finally, our major results are unchanged by performing a series of robustness checks. The conclusion of this article is that partisan conflict has a significant impact on bank credit and shows obvious variability, which is more significant after the global financial crisis. The application of the use of different types of loans in the real organization of agricultural production in Republic of Serbia was the focus of the authors of the study. The goal of the research was to determine the existence of legality based on the analysis of 7 factors affecting the loans of agricultural farms and medium-sized agricultural enterprises, namely: limit, repayment delay, efficiency, average exchange rate, possibility of repayment, increase in production, currency, as well as the overall score of all analyzed factors as well as the total score. With the strong promotion of financial globalization and marketization and the rapid development of financial industry innovation, credit risk management is becoming an important work that banks need to pay more and more attention to. This paper focuses on the construction of the bank credit risk model to carry out research. First of all, according to the credit characteristics selection method, the optimal indicators are combined with the indicators for the correlation test of variables. On this basis, the sample data is calculated using the up-sampling method of SMOTE to complete the algorithm and sampling. After obtaining the data, data preprocessing is carried out using the MinMaxScaler scaler method, and the processed data is inputted into the improved momentum BP neural network to complete the credit risk assessment. Profiling with risk feature data, it is obtained that each feature is not a separate individual from the other. They are interdependent and connected and have obvious correlations. For example, there are 47 features in the dataset with sample missing ratios greater than 0.97, which is too high and indicates an invalid feature. The results of the study show that SMOTE’s up-sampling method and Momentum BP algorithm can quickly utilize big data to provide a more accurate decision basis for bank credit risk assessment.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has caused drastic fluctuations in the economies of various countries. Meanwhile, the governments’ ability to save the economy depends on how banks provide credit to troubled companies. Therefore, the impact of the epidemic on bank credit and inclusive finance are worth exploring. However, most of the existing studies focus on the reform of the financial and economic system, only paying attention to the theoretical mechanism analysis and effect adjustment, scant data support, and insufficient scheme landing. At the same time, with the rise and rapid development of artificial intelligence technology in recent years, all walks of life have introduced it into real scenes for multi-source heterogeneous big data analysis and decision-making assistance. Therefore, we first take the Chinese mainland as an example in this paper. By studying the impact of the epidemic on bank credit preference and the mechanism of inclusive finance, we can provide objective decision-making basis for the financial system in the post-epidemic era to better flow credit funds into various entities and form a new perspective for related research. Then, we put forward a model based on Bi-directional Long Short-term Memory Network (BiLSTM) and Attention Mechanism to predict the number of newly diagnosed cases during the COVID-19 pandemic every day. It is not only suitable for COVID-19 pandemic data characterized by time series and nonlinearity, but also can adaptively select the most relevant input data by introducing an Attention Mechanism, which can solve the problems of huge calculation and inaccurate prediction results. Finally, through experiments and empirical research, we draw the following conclusions: (1) The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will promote enterprises to increase credit. (2) Banks provide more credit to large enterprises. (3) The epidemic has different impacts on credit in different regions, with the most significant one on central China. (4) Banks tend to provide more credit to manufacturing industries under the epidemic. (5) Digital inclusive finance plays a (positive) regulating effect on bank credit in COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by the research results, policymakers can consider further solving the information asymmetry and strengthening the construction of a credit system, and more direct financial support policies for enterprises should be adopted. (6) By adopting the COVID-19 prediction model based on the BiLSTM-Attention network to accurately predict the epidemic situation in the COVID-19 pandemic, it can provide an important basis for the formulation of epidemic prevention and control policies.

Credit risk has gained considerable attention in most countries of the world intending to manage the efficiency of credit portfolios. This study attempts to examine the impact of credit risk management on bank profitability. The local Bank of Palestine provided secondary data over a ten-year period (2010–2020) collected from financial annual reports. The statistical analysis is carried out using the SPSS and E-views software, and the study hypotheses are verified using descriptive statistics, multicollinearity tests, and regression. Palestinian banks’ profitability was evaluated using return on assets, along with bank-specific metrics such as capital adequacy ratio (CAR), loan-to-deposit ratio (LDR), non-performing loans (NPLs), loan loss provision ratio (LLPR), bank size, and bank age, as signs of credit risk management. The study’s findings indicate that there are differences in how credit risk management affects bank profitability in the context of Palestine. CAR NPLs have a positive but insignificant effect on profitability using ROA. The regression found a significant positive effect of LLPR on profitability using ROA. Finally, with respect to LDR as an indicator of credit risk management, the regression found its negative but insignificant effect on profitability using ROA. The results demonstrate how the board’s structure influences the performance of a company, which is regarded important knowledge for decision makers.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face obstacles in raising capital and accessing financial services due to information asymmetry, high transaction costs and lack of collateral. FinTech developments have made gathering and sharing information easier, changed how funds are mobilized and allocated, and increased capital-raising activities. This paper conducts a systematic literature review on FinTech and SME financing for the period 2008–2022. So far there are unstructured and separate publications on this topic. Therefore, there is a need to consolidate the empirical research and their findings on the effectiveness of FinTech in meeting SMEs' financing needs. The bibliometric findings show that few studies on FinTech and SME financing are empirical in nature. These empirical studies surged a decade later after FinTech 3.0 started in 2008, with the majority of them using quantitative methods based on data from surveys and FinTech platforms. Furthermore, emerging alternative digital financing to SMEs have attracted more empirical studies than those on FinTech and bank lending to SMEs. In terms of publications, China is dominating, followed by the United States. The content analysis shows that FinTech has increased the ability of financial and non-financial institutions to collect and process accurate information about SMEs, thus reducing information asymmetry and transaction costs. FinTech has also increased the speed and quality of the lending cycle, from establishing an SME pipeline, collecting and processing information, to loan screening, monitoring and repayment. Finally, the paper presents research gaps and areas for future studies, challenges and policy recommendations on this novel subject.

Our study aims to investigate the effect of bank credit on sectoral output growth in Indonesia. The sectoral output comprises the agricultural, manufacturing, construction, wholesale & retail trades, and transport & storage sectors. We position the Covid-19 pandemic as a moderating variable between sectoral economic growth and bank credit. Using monthly time series data from 2015.M1 to 2020.M12, we employ hierarchical linear regression to estimate the functional relationship between variables. The study points out that bank credit positively affects sectoral output. In contrast, the covid-19 pandemic has had a negative effect. Nevertheless, the pandemic moderates the influence of bank credit on the manufacturing, construction, transport & storage sectors but not on the agriculture, wholesales & retail trades sectors. This study examines the role of environmental degradation in macroeconomic instability for a balanced panel sample of 22 emerging market economies from 1996 to 2019. Governance is included in the macroeconomic instability function as a moderating factor. Besides, bank credit and government spending are also included in the estimated function as control variables. The long-run results from using the PMG-ARDL method show that environmental degradation and bank credit induce macroeconomic instability, whereas governance and government spending reduce it. Interestingly, environmental degradation creates greater macroeconomic instability than the bank credit. We also find that governance being a moderating factor weakens the adverse impact of environmental degradation on macroeconomic instability. These findings are robust to the FGLS technique, suggesting that governments in emerging economies should prioritize environmental degradation and governance in mitigating climate change and ensuring macroeconomic stability in the long run.
