2. THE EVALUATION BY MODERN MEANS OF REACTION SPEED IN ELITE FENCING.

Aim. This study aims at designing and validating a training plan in order to increase the reaction speed for female epee fencers in the national team of Romania. Methods of research: The evaluation of the reaction speed was done with the Witty device during an arm stretch from the guard position (simulation of the right blow), but also during the right fling attack. Two type of tests were applied: Witty Green test and Witty Red test. It is analyzed the moment of touch of the sensor and the duration of the stimulus. The data recorded include the temporal parameters of the reaction response, the speed of execution, the precision and coordination of the movement model. The research sample consists of 14 fencers, the average age at the time of the first test being almost 21 years. Results. Statistical processing for Witty Green parameters: Time, Gap, Lap and GapLap were performed by applying the t test for pair variables, comparing the initial results with the final ones. For all these parameters, there were statistically significant differences between initial and final values. Thus, statistical t > t critical for pair variables, and p value<0.05. Statistical processing for the parameters Witty Red Time, Gap, Lap and GapLap used the t test for pair variables. Statistically significant differences between initial and final values were achieved in the Gap and GapLap indicators; thus, statistical t > t critical for pair variables, and p value<0.05. The Gap average fell from 15.52 to 5.73, and the GapLap average fell from 1.69 to 0.87. Conclusions. In tests carried out with Witty devices, the obtained values demonstrated statistically significant differences, thus, the result can be extrapolated to the entire statistical population. Aim. Considering the complexity and accelerated pace of achieving performances among children, we approached this study to capitalize and develop laterality as a component of human psychomotricity by applying a training plan aimed at their technical training. Methods. The research was attended by 30 children, swimmers, aged between 10-11 years (n = 30), selected in the performance groups following the skills demonstrated and the fulfillment of the selection criteria. The training lessons occurred in six sessions per week, lasting approximately 90 min. Results. In the 50 m freestyle event, progress of 1.65 sec (mean = 1.65) was registered at the group level between the two periods of the championships (March, respectively, December). Both the one-sided (One Sided p) and two-sided (Two-Sided p) levels of significance indicate that there are significant differences between the two tests (T0 and T1), where p<.001 in both cases. The T-test marks the presence of significant differences between the joints on the right and left sides of the body. Conclusions. The development of laterality through technical training that ensures longevity in performance sports and obtaining notable results in competitions is important in the training process of children because, through its specificity, the cyclicity of movements and their symmetry can be improved. (1) Background: The purpose of this study was to identify impact differences in the rehabilitation the second-degree ankle sprain, more specifically the restoration of agonist-antagonist muscle balance, static and dynamic balance, and motor control in junior soccer players will have a different impact on patients who perform the recovery program with the help of Biodex 4 Pro and myofascial therapies compared to those who perform physical therapy using classical methods. (2) Methods: the study included 22 subjects divided into two equal groups in accordance with the agreement to practice modern therapies (MT) and kinesiotherapy (KT): the experimental group that performed the myofascial therapies and exercises with Biodex 4 pro and the control group that performed the KT. The parties' evaluations included: the Biodex 4 Pro for a range of motion assessment and the PodoSmart device for gait assessment. (3) Results: analysis identifies significant improvements for the subjects in the experimental group, respectively for the subjects in the control group, as follows: after completing the therapeutic plan for four weeks, the subjects gained 35.8° of flexion and 36.4° of extension compared to the initial results. In the PodoSmart gait analysis, the experimental group progressed between tests by 14.8% for the foot symmetry parameter, which was 3.8% more than in the control group, whose symmetry progress between tests was 11%. (4) Conclusion: the combined therapeutic plan containing Biodex technology and myofascial therapies is a current effective option in the rehabilitation of athletes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The complex treatment applied to breast cancer patients consists of mastectomy, chemotherapy and local radiation therapy and affects the functional level of the upper limb on the side of the mastectomy. Physical therapy plays an important role in increasing the functionality of the upper limb after treatment. The purpose of the study is to verify the effectiveness of an individualised therapeutic exercise programme aimed at increasing the range of motion of the upper limb. Five participants who had undergone mastectomy surgery 6 months earlier were included in the study and each received an individualised rehabilitation programme that was performed twice a week for 6 months. The patients were assessed using three functional tests: test 1 -bringing the hand to the back of the neck, test 2 - touching the scapula with the hand by performing flexion, adduction and internal rotation, and test 3 - touching the scapula with the hand by performing extension, adduction and external rotation. These tests are quantified on a scale of 0 to 4. Early application of an individualised kinetic programme improves the functional capacity of the upper limb on the side of the surgery and contributes to reintegration into daily and socio-professional activities. We consider it important to train patients through educational monthly sessions that address issues such as: maintaining body weight, allowed food and nutritional management for side effects during adjuvant treatment, prevention of chronic diseases. 9. ARGUMENTS REGARDING THE MANAGEMENT OF POST-MASTECTOMY SEQUELAE.

The purpose of this paper is to highlight a less illustrated topic in Romanian bibliographic resources. According to the World Health Organization reports, breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide. The sequelae of mastectomy are systematised as follows: conditions secondary to the application of local radiotherapy, systemic conditions after oncological treatment and psychosocial conditions. The most common side effect of the treatment applied for breast cancer is lymphoedema and, according to a study carried out in Pennsylvania, 42% of patients develop lymphoedema. Some authors classify it into mild, moderate and severe, but others highlight four stages of lymphoedema development. Physiotherapy has a major role in post-mastectomy recovery and requires various kinetic means, which can be both specific (physical exercise, hydrokinetic therapy, massage, posture) and non-specific (multilayer compression bandage and wearing a compression sleeve). Over time, a lot of clinical studies have been conducted on the implications of physical therapy for post-mastectomy functional recovery. Thus, physical exercise performed during the kinetic programme improves muscle strength, the activity of the cardiorespiratory system and self-esteem. Several authors recommend the practice of aerobic exercise and moderate-intensity exercise twice a week during chemotherapy treatment to prevent the development of lymphoedema. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
