- Abstract
Dual resin cements are cementing agents launched in the market in order to unite the favorable characteristics of photoactivated and self-polymerized resin cements. Currently, they are used in situations where there is loss or absence of light due to the distance from the activating source to the cementing agent. Dual polymerization resin cements were developed in an attempt to combine both chemical polymerization and light polymerization of the materials, thereby providing adequate polymerization in the deepest areas in short times. However, improper polymerization decreases the physical properties of the resin material, adhesion strength and stiffness, and increases water absorption and affects color stability. The objective of the present work is to perform a critical analysis of the literature to compare according to the research and concepts of other authors what is the degree of conversion of the dual cements and what factors affect this.
