Abstract

Abstract: A real-time capable core ICRF heating model on NSTX and WEST is developed. The model is based on two nonlinear regression algorithms, the random forest ensemble of decision trees and the multilayer perceptron neural network. The algorithms are trained on TORIC ICRF spectrum solver simulations of the expected flat-top operation scenarios in NSTX and WEST assuming Maxwellian plasmas. The surrogate models are shown to successfully capture the multi-species core ICRF power absorption predicted by the original model for the high harmonic fast wave and the ion cyclotron minority heating schemes while reducing the computational time by six orders of magnitude. Although these models can be expanded, the achieved regression scoring, computational efficiency and increased model robustness suggest these strategies can be implemented into integrated modeling frameworks for real-time control applications.

3. Towards fast, accurate predictions of RF simulations via data-driven modeling: Forward and lateral models

Abstract

Three machine learning techniques (multilayer perceptron, random forest, and Gaussian process) provide fast surrogate models for lower hybrid current drive (LHCD) simulations. A single GENRAY/CQL3D simulation without radial diffusion of fast electrons requires several minutes of wall-clock time to complete, which is acceptable for many purposes, but too slow for integrated modeling and real-time control applications. More accurate simulations with fast electron diffusion are even slower, requiring multiple hours of run time with parallel processing. The machine learning models use a database of 16,000+ GEN-RAY/CQL3D simulations for training, validation, and testing. Latin hypercube sampling methods implemented in πScope ensure that the database covers the range of 9 input parameters (ne0, Te0, Ip, Bt, R0, n∥︀, Ze f f, Vloop, PLHCD) with sufficient density in all regions of parameter space. The surrogate models reduce the computation time from minutes-hours to ms with high accuracy across the input parameter space. Data-driven surrogate models also allow for solving inverse and "lateral"problems. A surrogate model for the inverse problem maps from a desired current drive or power deposition profile to a set of input parameters that would result in such a profile, while a surrogate model for the lateral problem maps from a measured experimental quantity such as hard x-ray emission to a current drive or power deposition profile. The πScope database creation workflow is flexible and applicable to other RF simulation codes such as TORIC.

The goal was to achieve controlled CTX release and synergistic photodynamic therapy, with a focus on evaluating anti-tumor activity against human liver cancer cell lines (Hep G2).Methods: Purified cobra cytotoxin (CTX) and photosensitizer Ce6 were co-loaded into carbonized Zn/Co bimetallic organic frameworks, resulting in RGD-PDA@C-ZIF@(CTX+Ce6). The formulation was designed with surface-functionalization using polydopamine and tumor-penetrating peptide RGD. This approach aimed to facilitate controlled CTX release and enhance the synergistic effect of photodynamic therapy. The accumulation of RGD-PDA@C-ZIF@(CTX+Ce6) at tumor sites was achieved through RGD’s active targeting and the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect. In the acidic tumor microenvironment, the porous structure of the metal-organic framework disintegrated, releasing CTX and Ce6 into tumor cells.Results: Experiments demonstrated that RGD-PDA@C-ZIF@(CTX+Ce6) nanoparticles, combined with near-infrared laser irradiation, exhibited optimal anti-tumor effects against human liver cancer cells. The formulation showcased heightened anti-tumor activity without discernible systemic toxicity.Conclusion: The study underscores the potential of utilizing metal-organic frameworks as an efficient nanoplatform for co-loading cytotoxins and photodynamic therapy in liver cancer treatment. Abstract

Measurements of the $^2$H($^{16}$C,$^{16}$C$^{*}$$\rightarrow^4$He+$^{12}$Be or $^6$He+$^{10}$Be)$^2$H inelastic excitation and cluster-decay reactions have been carried out at a beam energy of about 23.5 MeV/u. A specially designed detection system, including one multi-layer silicon-strip telescope at around zero degrees, has allowed the high-efficiency three-fold coincident detection and therefore the event-by-event determination of the energy of the unstable nucleus beam. The decay paths from the $^{16}$C resonances to various states of the final $^{10}$Be or $^{12}$Be nucleus are recognized thanks to the well-resolved $Q$-value spectra. The reconstructed resonances at 16.5(1), 17.3(2), 19.4(1) and 21.6(2) MeV are assigned as the $0^+$, $2^+$, $4^+$ and $6^+$ members, respectively, of the positive-parity $(3/2_\pi^-)^2(1/2_\sigma^-)^2$-bond linear-chain molecular band in $^{16}$C, based on the angular correlation analysis for the 16.5 MeV state and the excellent agreement of decay patterns between the measurements and theoretical predictions. Moreover, another intriguing high-lying state was observed at 27.2(1) MeV which decays almost exclusively to the $\sim$6 MeV states of $^{10}$Be, in line with the newly predicted pure $\sigma$-bond linear-chain configuration., Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures

However, few studies have addressed the issue of electrolyte changes after the coronary intervention. Therefore, our study investigates coronary angiography’s effect on electrolytes and provides the quick identification of groups more prone to electrolyte changes.Methods: From the department of cardiology of the second affiliated hospital of Shandong’s first medical university, 374 patients undergoing coronary angiography were selected. Pre-intervention and post-intervention serums, sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), chloride (Cl−), magnesium (Mg2+) and renal function were analyzed. The correlation between influential factors was also assessed. The association of hypokalemia with short-major adverse cardiac events (MACE) and arrhythmia was evaluated.Results: Among the 374 subjects including 264 patients who had a simple angiography and 110 patients who received coronary artery interventional therapy. A decrease in potassium levels was found in 81.8% of the patients, and post-interventional hypokalemia was observed in 15.0%. After the intervention, the hypokalemia among males was 2.18 times than that of females, and the pre-operative serum potassium level was 3.5mmol/L≤K+< 4.0mmol/L and was 2.09 times than that of K+≥ 4.0 mmol/L, but was not associated with age and either simple coronary angiography or PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention). Hypernatremia was also prevalent in males under 60 years and with pre-operative hypernatremia. Significant variations were found between hypokalemia and influential factors like hypertension, diabetes, and gastrointestinal disease. We also found that there was no obvious correlation between hypokalemia and recurrent angina, heart failure and death, but significantly increased the risk of some arrhythmias.Conclusion: Male patients are more likely to suffer from electrolyte disturbance after coronary intervention. There is a need to emphasize monitoring and managing electrolyte changes to prevent severe complications in the peri-operative period.Keywords: coronary angiography, electrolytes, hypokalemia, hypernatremia, risk factors

Abstract

The long-lived $^{60}$Fe (with a half-life of 2.62 Myr) is a crucial diagnostic of active nucleosynthesis in the Milky Way galaxy and in supernovae near the solar system. The neutron-capture reaction $^{59}$Fe(n,$\gamma$)$^{60}$Fe on $^{59}$Fe (half-life = 44.5 days) is the key reaction for the production of $^{60}$Fe in massive stars. This reaction cross section has been previously constrained by the Coulomb dissociation experiment, which offered partial constraint on the $E$1 $\gamma$-ray strength function but a negligible constraint on the $M$1 and $E$2 components. In this work, for the first time, we use the surrogate ratio method to experimentally determine the $^{59}$Fe(n,$\gamma$)$^{60}$Fe cross sections in which all the components are included. We derived a Maxwellian-averaged cross section of 27.5 $\pm$ 3.5 mb at $kT$= 30 keV and 13.4 $\pm$ 1.7 mb at $kT$= 90 keV, roughly 10 - 20% higher than previous estimates. We analyzed the impact of our new reaction rates in nucleosynthesis models of massive stars and found that uncertainties in the production of $^{60}$Fe from the $^{59}$Fe(n,$\gamma$)$^{60}$Fe rate are at most of 25%. To develop a platform for efficiently addressing these challenges, we constructed a nanomaterial of Aptamer@dox/GOD-MnO2-SiO2@HGNs-Fc@Ce6 (AMS) for combination tumor therapy. The treatment effects of AMS were evaluated both in vitro and in vivo.Methods: In this work, Ce6 and hemin were loaded on graphene (GO) through π-π conjugation, and Fc was connected to GO via amide bond. The HGNs-Fc@Ce6 was loaded into SiO2, and coated with dopamine. Then, MnO2 was modified on the SiO2. Finally, AS1411-aptamer@dox and GOD were fixed to gain AMS. We characterized the morphology, size, and zeta potential of AMS. The oxygen and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production properties of AMS were analyzed. The cytotoxicity of AMS was detected by MTT and calcein-AM/PI assays. The apoptosis of AMS to a tumor cell was estimated with a JC-1 probe, and the ROS level was detected with a 2’,7’-Dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA) probe. The anticancer efficacy in vivo was analyzed by the changes in the tumor size in different treatment groups.Results: AMS was targeted to the tumor cell and released doxorubicin. It decomposed glucose to produce H2O2 in the GOD-mediated reaction. The generated sufficient H2O2 was catalyzed by MnO2 and HGNs-Fc@Ce6 to produce O2 and free radicals (•OH), respectively. The increased oxygen content improved the hypoxic environment of the tumor and effectively reduced the resistance to PDT. The generated •OH enhanced the ROS treatment. Moreover, AMS depicted a good photo-thermal effect.Conclusion: The results revealed that AMS had an excellent enhanced therapy effect by combining synergistic PTT and PDT.Keywords: nanomaterial, photo-thermal therapy, photodynamic therapy, hypoxia

Abstract

Two types of wedge-shaped CsI(Tl)s were designed to be placed behind the annular double-sided silicon detectors (ADSSDs) to identify the light charged particles with the $\Delta E-E$ method. The properties of CsI(Tl)s with different shapes and sizes, such as energy resolution, light output non-uniformity and particle identification capability, were compared by using a $\alpha$-source and a radioactive beam of $^{15}$C. The big-size CsI(Tl) was finally adopted to form the $\Delta E-E$ telescope due to better properties. The property differences of these two types of CsI(Tl)s can be interpreted based on the Geant4 simulation results.

Abstract

Precession is a unique motion in which the orientation of the rotational axis of a rotating body is not fixed but moving, and it generally exists in the Universe from giant stars through tiny atomic nuclei. In principle, the precession of an atomic nuclide can be approximately described as wobbling motion, arising from the coupling of a rotation and a harmonic vibration. Recently, a number of wobbling bands were reported at low spin, which violate the wobbling approximation that can be valid only at high spin. Here we explore the nature of the reported low-spin wobbling bands. Via a new experiment, we demonstrate that one such band in $^{187}$Au is generated by dominant single-particle excitation rather than by the excitation of a wobbling phonon. We point out that the imperfect research paradigm used previously would lead to unreliable identification of low-spin wobbling bands. Consequently, new experimental approaches should be developed to distinguish among the different excitation mechanisms that can give rise to the observed low-spin bands in odd-even nuclei.

Abstract

An inelastic excitation and cluster-decay experiment $\rm {^2H}(^{16}C,~{^{4}He}+{^{12}Be}~or~{^{6}He}+{^{10}Be}){^2H}$ was carried out to investigate the linear-chain clustering structure in neutron-rich $\rm {^{16}C}$. For the first time, decay-paths from the $\rm {^{16}C}$ resonances to various states of the final nuclei were determined, thanks to the well-resolved $Q$-value spectra obtained from the three-fold coincident measurement. The close-threshold resonance at 16.5 MeV is assigned as the ${J^\pi}={0^+}$ band head of the predicted positive-parity linear-chain molecular band with ${(3/2_\pi^-)^2}{(1/2_\sigma^-)^2}$ configuration, according to the associated angular correlation and decay analysis. Other members of this band were found at 17.3, 19.4, and 21.6 MeV based on their selective decay properties, being consistent with the theoretical predictions. Another intriguing high-lying state was observed at 27.2 MeV which decays almost exclusively to $\rm {^{6}He}+{^{10}Be{(\sim6~ MeV)}}$ final channel, corresponding well to another predicted linear-chain structure with the pure $\sigma$-bond configuration., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

$\beta$ decay of $^{26}$P was used to populate the astrophysically important $E_x=$5929.4(8) keV $J^{\pi}=3{^+}$ state of $^{26}$Si. Both $\beta$-delayed proton at 418(8) keV and gamma ray at 1742(2) keV emitted from this state were measured simultaneously for the first time with corresponding absolute intensities of 11.1(12)\% and 0.59(44)\%, respectively. Besides, shell model calculations with weakly bound effects were performed to investigate the decay properties of other resonant states and a spin-parity of $4^+$ rather than $0^+$ was favored for the $E_x=$5945.9(40) keV state. Combining the experimental results and theoretical calculations, $^{25}$Al($p,\gamma$)$^{26}$Si reaction rate in explosive hydrogen burning environments was calculated and compared with previous studies.

Abstract

The radial velocity (RV) is a basic physical quantity which can be determined through Doppler shift of the spectrum of a star. The precision of RV measurement depends on the resolution of the spectrum we used and the accuracy of wavelength calibration. In this work, radial velocities of LAMOST-II medium resolution (R ~ 7500) spectra are measured for 1,594,956 spectra (each spectrum has two wavebands) through matching with templates. A set of RV standard stars are used to recalibrate the zero point of the measurement, and some reference sets with RVs derived from medium/high-resolution observations are used to evaluate the accuracy of the measurement. Comparing with reference sets, the accuracy of our measurement can get 0.0227 km s/1 with respect to radial velocities standard stars. The intrinsic precision is estimated with the multiple observations of single stars, which can achieve to 1.36 km s/1,1.08 km s/1, 0.91 km s/1 for the spectra at signal-to-noise levels of 10, 20, 50, respectively., Comment: published by ApJs. 13 pages, 13 figures

Abstract

We present an empirical stellar spectra library created using spectra from the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) DR5. This library represents a uniform data set ranging from 3750 through 8500K in effective temperature (T_eff), from -2.5 through +1.0 dex in metallicity ([Fe/H]), and from 0 to 5.0 dex in gravity (log g). The spectra in the library have resolution R~1800, with well-calibrated fluxes and rest-framed wavelengths. Using a large number of red stars observed by LAMOST, we generated denser K type templates to fill in data missing from current empirical spectral libraries, particularly the late K type. For K giants, we calibrated the spectroscopic surface gravities against the asteroseismic surface gravities. To verify the reliability of the parameters labeled for this library, we performed an internal cross-validation by using a chi^2 minimization method to interpolate parameters of each individual spectrum using the remaining spectra in the library. We obtained precisions of 41 K, 0.11 dex, and 0.05 dex for T_eff, log g, and [Fe/H], respectively, which means the templates are labeled with correct stellar parameters. Through external comparisons, we confirmed that measurements of the stellar parameters through this library can achieve accuracies of approximately 125K in T_eff, 0.1 dex in [Fe/H] and 0.20 dex in log g without systematic offset. This empirical library is useful for stellar parameter measurements because it has large parameter coverage and full wavelength coverage from 3800 to 8900A., Comment: 26 pages, 19 figures, accepted by ApJS

The demographic characteristics, imaging indices and gait test indices of the patients were collected. The risk factors were identified by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. A risk prediction model for hallux valgus with pain under the second metatarsal was established, and the area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic and a decision curve analysis were used for verification and identification. The value of the model was tested in the verification group.Results: Second metatarsal length, second metatarsal peak pressure, hallux valgus angle (HVA), intermetatarsal angle 1– 2 (IMA1– 2) and weight were the risk factors for hallux valgus complicated with pain under the second metatarsal. Based on the weighting of these seven risk factors, a prediction model was established. The AUC of the prediction model was 0.84 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.802~0.898, P < 0.05), and the results of a Hosmer–Lemeshow test showed a good degree of calibration (χ2 = 10.62, P > 0.05). The internal validation of the AUC was 0.83 (95% CI: 0.737– 0.885, P < 0.05). The model had obvious net benefits when the threshold probability was 10%– 70%.Conclusion: Second metatarsal length, second metatarsal peak pressure, HVA, IMA1– 2 and weight were the risk factors for hallux valgus combined with second metatarsal pain. CDK6 alterations in DLBCL and related functional networks were analyzed with c-BioPortal and the Gene Set Enrichment Analysis was performed by using DAVID and FunRich software. In addition, screening for differential gene expression of CDK6 was done and enriched by using LinkedOmics. Finally, formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples from 102 patients with DLBCL were collected from the Department of Pathology, Shanxi Cancer Hospital (Taiyuan, Shanxi, China) from January 2015 through December 2020. All cases had complete clinical course records. Thirty cases of lymph node reactive hyperplasia tissues were used as controls. The expression of CDK6 in DLBCL tissues was detected by qRT‑PCR and immunohistochemistry.Results: Bioinformatics analysis: The data showed that mRNA expression level and DNA copy number variations (CNVs) of CDK6 were significantly higher in DLBCL as compared to normal tissue (P ˂ 0.05). Based on C-BioPortal analysis, we speculated that amplification was the most common copy of CDK6 CNV in DLBCL. Through Gene Ontology (GO) analysis of these genes, it was found that the proteins were mainly located in the nucleus and cytoplasm. The biological interaction network of CDK6 alterations were found to participate primarily in the G1-S phase of the process. Analysis of LinkedOmics mRNA sequencing data showed that three genes were positively correlated with CDK6 expression: PSMD1, C2orf29 and ASB1. Through experimental verification, we found that CDK6 was overexpressed in DLBCL, and the expression of CDK6 mRNA and protein in DLBCL were positively correlated with Ann Arbor staging and IPI score (P< 0.05), and negatively correlated with overall survival (P< 0.001).Conclusion: Data mining results and experiments revealed and confirmed multi-level evidence for the importance of CDK6 in DLBCL; hence, CDK6 may be a potential marker in DLBCL. Emerged evidence has shown that induction of trained immunity triggers a much stronger inflammatory response in adult monocytes/macrophages, thereby conferring protection against microbial infection.Methods: This study was carried out to examine whether trained immunity is inducible and exerts its protection against microbial sepsis in neonates.Results: Induction of trained immunity by Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) plus bacterial lipoprotein (BLP) protected neonatal mice against cecal slurry peritonitis-induced polymicrobial sepsis, and this protection is associated with elevated circulating inflammatory cytokines, increased neutrophil recruitment, and accelerated bacterial clearance. In vitro stimulation of neonatal murine macrophages with BCG+BLP augmented both inflammatory response and antimicrobial activity. Notably, BCG+BLP stimulation resulted in epigenetic remodeling characterized by histone modifications with enhanced H3K4me3, H3K27Ac, and suppressed H3K9me3 at the promoters of the targeted inflammatory and antimicrobial genes. Critically, BCG+BLP stimulation led to a shift in cellular metabolism with increased glycolysis, which is the prerequisite for subsequent BCG+BLP-triggered epigenetic reprogramming and augmented inflammatory response and antimicrobial capacity.Conclusion: These results illustrate that BCG+BLP induces trained immunity in neonates, thereby protecting against microbial infection by boosting both inflammatory and antimicrobial responses.Keywords: trained immunity, inflammatory response, antimicrobial activity, epigenetic reprogramming, intracellular metabolic rewiring, neonatal sepsis

Abstract

Background: Beta-decay spectroscopy provides valuable nuclear physics input for thermonuclear reaction rates of astrophysical interest and stringent test for shell-model theories far from the stability line. Purpose: The available decay properties of proton drip-line nucleus $^{27}$S is insufficient to constrain the properties of the key resonance in $^{26}$Si$(p,\gamma)^{27}$P reaction rate and probe the possible isospin asymmetry. The decay scheme of $^{27}$S is complicated and far from being understood, which has motivated but also presented challenges for our experiment. Method: The $^{27}$S ions were implanted into a double-sided silicon strip detector array surrounded by the high-purity germanium detectors, where the $\beta$-delayed protons and $\gamma$ rays were measured simultaneously. Results: The improved spectroscopic properties including the precise half-life of $^{27}$S, the excitation energies, $\beta$-decay branching ratios, log~$ft$ values, and $B$(GT) values for the states of $^{27}$P populated in the $\beta$ decay of $^{27}$S were measured and compared to the $^{27}$Mg mirror states and the shell-model calculations. The present work has expanded greatly on the previously established decay scheme of $^{27}$S. Conclusions: The precise proton-separation energy of $^{27}$P, the energy and the ratio between $\gamma$ and proton partial widths of the $3/2^+$ resonance were obtained, thereby determining the $^{26}$Si$(p,\gamma)^{27}$P reaction rate based mainly on experimental constraints. The first evidence for the observation of a large isospin asymmetry for the mirror decays of $^{27}$S and $^{27}$Na is also provided. The experimental spectroscopic information can be reproduced by the shell-model calculation taking the weakly bound effect of the proton $1s_{1/2}$ orbit into account.

Abstract

The mass of $^{27}$P was predicted to impact the X-ray burst (XRB) model predictions of burst light curves and the composition of the burst ashes. To address the uncertainties and inconsistencies in the reported $^{27}$P masses in literature, a wealth of information has been extracted from the $\beta$-decay spectroscopy of the drip-line nucleus $^{27}$S. We determine the most precise mass excess of $^{27}$P to date to be $-659(9)$~keV, which is 63~keV (2.3$\sigma$) higher than the AME2016 recommended value of $-722(26)$~keV. The experimentally unknown mass excess of $^{27}$S was estimated to be 17030(400)~keV in AME2016, and we constrain this mass to be 17678(77)~keV based on the measured $\beta$-delayed two-proton energy. In the temperature region of $(0.06-0.3)$~GK, the $^{26}$Si$(p,\gamma)^{27}$P reaction rate determined in this work is significantly lower than the rate recommended in the reaction rate libraries, up to two orders of magnitude around 0.1~GK. The impact of these newly determined masses and well-constrained rate on the modeling of the explosive astrophysical scenarios has been explored by hydrodynamic nova and post-processing XRB models. No substantial change was found in the nova contribution to the synthesis of galactic $^{26}$Al or in the XRB energy generation rate, but we found that the calculated abundances of $^{26}$Al and $^{26}$Si at the last stage of XRB are increased by a factor of 2.4. We also conclude that $^{27}$S is not a significant waiting point in the rapid proton capture process.

Many efforts have been made to improve properties of HA to prolong the duration in aesthetic indications. A new cross-linking technique called “Tri-Hyal”, could make HAs to achieve desired rheological characteristics. HAs synthesized by Tri-Hyal are triple cross-linked and sustained-release, which could increase duration of promoting skin rejuvenation after injection.Purpose: To evaluate the efficiency and persistence of HAs with Tri-Hyal on skin rejuvenation and further investigate underlying mechanisms, we compared the performances of cross-linked HA (AF) based on Tri-Hyal with another highly acceptable HA filler (Res) in vivo and in vitro.Methods: Male BALB/c mice were divided into three groups, treated with AF, Res and vehicle, respectively. Skin biopsies were taken on day 0, 30, 90 and 180 after injection and hematoxylin and eosin (H&E), Masson’s trichrome (MT), immunohistochemical (IHC) stainings for CD31, TGF-β and MMP9 were performed. EdU incorporation, cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), SA-β-Gal staining and activity were measured by biochemical analysis. RFP-GFP-LC3 adeno virus was used for autophagic flux detection. Protein levels of CD44, P62 and LC3I/II were detected by Western blot. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) level was detected by flow cytometry with DCFH-DA probe.Results: The AF synthesized by Tri-Hyal showed persistent dermal structural correction without attenuation up to 6 months, which was illustrated by skin thickness, formation of elastic fibers and vascular density. Consistently, in fibroblasts the AF improved cell proliferation and slowed the senescent in vitro. We analyzed the relationship between patients’ clinical data within 24 hours of admission and delirium, applied univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses to select the most relevant variables for construction of nomogram models, then applied bootstrapping for internal validation.Results: A total of five variables, namely stomach and urinary tubes, as well as sedative, mechanical ventilation and APACHE-II scores, were selected for model construction. We generated a total of five sets of models (three sets of construction models and two sets of internal verification models), with similar predictive value. The optimal model was selected, and together with the 5 variables used to construct a nomogram. The AUC of the MFP model in all patients was 0.76 (0.70, 0.82), whereas that in non-elderly patients (< 60 years old) for the full model was 0.83 (0.74, 0.91). Abstract

We present an efficient and reliable algorithm for solving a class of nonlinear eigenvalue problems arising from the modeling of particle accelerator cavities. The eigenvalue nonlinearity in these problems results from the use of waveguides to couple external power sources or to allow certain excited electromagnetic modes to exit the cavity. We use a rational approximation to reduce the nonlinear eigenvalue problem first to a rational eigenvalue problem. We then apply a special linearization procedure to turn the rational eigenvalue problem into a larger linear eigenvalue problem with the same eigenvalues, which can be solved by existing iterative methods. By using a compact scheme to represent both the linearized operator and the eigenvectors to be computed, we obtain a numerical method that only involves solving linear systems of equations of the same dimension as the original nonlinear eigenvalue problem. We refer to this method as a compact rational Krylov (CORK) method. We implemented the CORK method in the Omega3P module of the Advanced Computational Electromagnetic 3D Parallel (ACE3P) simulation suite and validated it by comparing the computed cavity resonant frequencies and damping Q factors of a small model problem to those obtained from a fitting procedure that uses frequency responses computed by another ACE3P module called S3P. We also used the CORK method to compute trapped modes damped in an ideal eight 9-cell SRF cavity cryomodule. This was the first time it was possible to compute these modes directly. The damping Q factors of the computed modes match well with those measured in experiments and the difference in resonant frequencies is within the range introduced by cavity imperfection. Therefore, the CORK method is an extremely valuable tool for computational cavity design.

Abstract

$^{6}$He+$t$ cluster states of exited $^{9}$Li have been measured by 32.7 MeV/nucleon $^{9}$Li beams bombarding on $^{208}$Pb target. Two resonant states are clearly observed with the excitation energies at 9.8 MeV and 12.6 MeV and spin-parity of 3/2$^{-}$ and 7/2$^{-}$ respectively. These two states are considered to be members of K$^{\pi}$=1/2$^{-}$ band. The spin-parity of them are identified by the method of angular correlation analysis and verified by the continuum discretized coupled channels (CDCC) calculation, which agrees with the prediction of the generator coordinate method (GCM). A monopole matrix element about 4 fm$^{2}$ for the 3/2$^{-}$ state is extracted from the distorted wave Born approximation (DWBA) calculation. These results strongly support the feature of clustering structure of two neutron-rich clusters in the neutron-rich nucleus $^{9}$Li for the first time.

Abstract

We use determinant Quantum Monte Carlo (DQMC), in combination with the principal component analysis (PCA) approach to unsupervised learning, to extract information about phase transitions in several of the most fundamental Hamiltonians describing strongly correlated materials. We first explore the zero temperature antiferromagnet to singlet transition in the Periodic Anderson Model, the Mott insulating transition in the Hubbard model on a honeycomb lattice, and the magnetic transition in the 1/6-filled Lieb lattice. We then discuss the prospects for learning finite temperature superconducting transitions in the attractive Hubbard model, for which there is no sign problem. Finally, we investigate finite temperature charge density wave (CDW) transitions in the Holstein model, where the electrons are coupled to phonon degrees of freedom, and carry out a finite size scaling analysis to determine $T_c$. We examine the different behaviors associated with Hubbard-Stratonovich auxiliary field configurations on both the entire space-time lattice and on a single imaginary time slice, or other quantities, such as equal-time Green's and pair-pair correlation functions., Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures

Abstract

Fragmentation cross section of $^{28}$Si + $^{9}$Be reaction at 75.8 MeV/u was analyzed for studying the decay mode of single-proton emission in $^{21}$Al (the proton-rich nucleus with neutron closed-shell of $N = 8$ and $T_z = -5/2$). With the comparison between the measured fragmentation cross section and the theoretical cross section produced by EPAX3.1a for the observed nuclei (i.e. $^{20}$Mg, $^{21}$Al and $^{22}$Si), the expected yield for a particle stable $^{21}$Al was estimated. With the exponential decay law, an upper limit of half-life of $13$ ns was determined. Using the single-proton penetration model, the upper limit of single-proton separation energy of $-105$ keV was deduced. This deduced mass limit agrees with the microscopic calculation based on nucleon-nucleon (NN) + three-nucleon (3N) forces in $sdf_{7/2}p_{3/2}$ valence space, which indicates the importance of 3N forces in $^{21}$Al., Comment: 3 pages, 2 figures

Abstract

The decay of the proton-rich nucleus $^{22}$Si was studied by a silicon array coupled with germanium clover detectors. Nine charged-particle groups are observed and most of them are recognized as $\beta$-delayed proton emission. A charged-particle group at 5600 keV is identified experimentally as $\beta$-delayed two-proton emission from the isobaric analog state of $^{22}$Al. Another charged-particle emission without any $\beta$ particle at the low energy less than 300 keV is observed. The half-life of $^{22}$Si is determined as 27.5 (18) ms. The experimental results of $\beta$-decay of $^{22}$Si are compared and in nice agreement with shell-model calculations. The mass excess of the ground state of $^{22}$Si deduced from the experimental data shows that three-nucleon (3N) forces with repulsive contributions have significant effects on nuclei near the proton drip line., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

The $\beta$ decay of the drip-line nucleus $^{20}$Mg gives important information on resonances in $^{20}$Na, which are relevant for the astrophysical $rp$-process. A detailed $\beta$ decay spectroscopic study of $^{20}$Mg was performed by a continuous-implantation method. A detection system was specially developed for charged-particle decay studies, giving improved spectroscopic information including the half-life of $^{20}$Mg, the excitation energies, the branching ratios, and the log $ft$ values for the states in $^{20}$Na populated in the $\beta$ decay of $^{20}$Mg. A new proton branch was observed and the corresponding excited state in $^{20}$Na was proposed. The large isospin asymmetry for the mirror decays of $^{20}$Mg and $^{20}$O was reproduced, as well. However, no conclusive conclusion can be draw about the astrophysically interesting 2645~keV resonance in $^{20}$Na due to the limited statistics.

The primary outcome was intrahospital mortality. A total of 48 candidate variables were considered from demographic and clinical data. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) was used to develop a nomogram. Concordance index values, decision curve analysis, the area under the curve (AUC), and clinical impact curves were examined. In this study, 489 patients with STEMI were included in the training dataset and an additional 209 patients from the 44 chest pain centers were included in the test cohort. B-type natriuretic peptides, α-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (α-HBDH), cystatin C, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), shock index, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio were associated with intrahospital mortality and included in the nomogram.Results: The model showed good discrimination power, and the AUC generated to predict survival in the training set was 0.875 (95% confidence interval, 0.825– 0.925). In the validation set, the AUC of survival predictions was 0.87 (95% confidence interval, 0.792– 0.947). Calibration plots and decision curve analysis showed good model performance in both datasets. A web-based calculator (https://bzxzmu.shinyapps.io/STEMI-with-Hyperuricemia-intrahospital-mortality/) was established based on the nomogram model, which was used to measure the levels of OHCA, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, shock index, α-HBDH, cystatin C, and B-type natriuretic peptides.Conclusion: For practical applications, this model may prove clinically useful for personalized therapy management in patients with STEMI with hyperuricemia.Keywords: hyperuricemia, STEMI, nomogram, mortality

Abstract

Configuration-constrained potential-energy-surface calculations have been performed to investigate the $K$ isomerism in the proton-rich $A\sim80$ mass region. An abundance of high-$K$ states are predicted. These high-$K$ states arise from two and four-quasi-particle excitations, with $K^{\pi}=8^{+}$ and $K^{\pi}=16^{+}$, respectively. Their excitation energies are comparatively low, making them good candidates for long-lived isomers. Since most nuclei under studies are prolate spheroids in their ground states, the oblate shapes of the predicted high-$K$ states may indicate a combination of $K$ isomerism and shape isomerism.

Abstract

The main objective of the present work is to correlate quarter-point angle and nuclear radius or nuclear matter distribution. Various phenomenological formulae with parameters for strong absorption radius Rs are obtained and compared by fitting the experimental data of quarter point angle extracted from nuclear elastic scattering reaction systems. The parameterized formula of Rs related to the isospin and binding energy is recommended, that gives a good reproduction of nuclear matter radii of halo nuclei.

Abstract

We report the first lattice QCD calculation of the complex kaon decay amplitude $A_0$ with physical kinematics, using a $32^3\times 64$ lattice volume and a single lattice spacing $a$, with $1/a= 1.3784(68)$ GeV. We find Re$(A_0) = 4.66(1.00)(1.26) \times 10^{-7}$ GeV and Im$(A_0) = -1.90(1.23)(1.08) \times 10^{-11}$ GeV, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. The first value is in approximate agreement with the experimental result: Re$(A_0) = 3.3201(18) \times 10^{-7}$ GeV while the second can be used to compute the direct CP violating ratio Re$(\varepsilon'/\varepsilon)=1.38(5.15)(4.59)\times 10^{-4}$, which is $2.1\sigma$ below the experimental value $16.6(2.3)\times 10^{-4}$. The real part of $A_0$ is CP conserving and serves as a test of our method while the result for Re$(\varepsilon'/\varepsilon)$ provides a new test of the standard-model theory of CP violation, one which can be made more accurate with increasing computer capability., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures. Abstract

The Large sky Area Multi-Object Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) General Survey is a spectroscopic survey that will eventually cover approximately half of the celestial sphere and collect 10 million spectra of stars, galaxies and QSOs. Objects both in the pilot survey and the first year general survey are included in the LAMOST First Data Release (DR1). The pilot survey started in October 2011 and ended in June 2012, and the data have been released to the public as the LAMOST Pilot Data Release in August 2012. The general survey started in September 2012, and completed its first year of operation in June 2013. The LAMOST DR1 includes a total of 1202 plates containing 2,955,336 spectra, of which 1,790,879 spectra have observed signal-to-noise S/N >10. All data with S/N>2 are formally released as LAMOST DR1 under the LAMOST data policy. This data release contains a total of 2,204,696 spectra, of which 1,944,329 are stellar spectra, 12,082 are galaxy spectra and 5,017 are quasars. The DR1 includes not only spectra, but also three stellar catalogues with measured parameters: AFGK-type stars with high quality spectra (1,061,918 entries), A-type stars (100,073 entries), and M stars (121,522 entries). This paper introduces the survey design, the observational and instrumental limitations, data reduction and analysis, and some caveats. 49. Shape coexistence and evolution in neutron-deficient krypton isotopes

Abstract

Total Routhian Surface (TRS) calculations have been performed to investigate shape coexistence and evolution in neutron-deficient krypton isotopes ${}^{72,74,76}$Kr. The ground-state shape is found to change from oblate in ${}^{72}$Kr to prolate in ${}^{74,76}$Kr, in agreement with experimental data. Quadrupole deformations of the ground states and coexisting $0^{+}_{2}$ states as well as excitation energies of the latter are also well reproduced. While the general agreement between calculated moments of inertia and those deduced from observed spectra confirms the prolate nature of the low-lying yrast states of all three isotopes (except the ground state of ${}^{72}$Kr), the deviation at low spins suggests significant shape mixing. The role of triaxiality in describing shape coexistence and evolution in these nuclei is finally discussed.

Abstract

The elastic resonance scattering protons decayed from $^{11}$B to the ground state of $^{10}$Be were measured using the thick-target technique in inverse kinematics at the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL). The obtained excitation functions were well described by a multichannel R-matrix procedure under the kinematics process assumption of resonant elastic scattering. The excitation energy of the resonant states ranges from 13.0 to 17.0 MeV, and their resonant parameters such as the resonant energy E$_{x}$, the spin-parity J$^\pi$, and the proton-decay partial width $\Gamma_p$ were determined from R-matrix fits to the data. Two of these states around E$_{x}$ = 14.55 MeV [J$^\pi$ = (3/2$^+$, 5/2$^+$), $\Gamma_p$ = 475 $\pm$ 80 keV] and E$_{x}$ = 14.74 MeV [J$^\pi$ = 3/2$^-$, $\Gamma_p$ = 830 $\pm$ 145 keV], and a probably populated state at E$_x$ = 16.18 MeV [J$^\pi$ =(1/2$^-$, 3/2$^-$), $\Gamma_p$ $<$ 60 keV], are respectively assigned to the well-known states in $^{11}$B at 14.34 MeV, 15.29 MeV, and 16.43 MeV. The isospin of these three states were previously determined to be T = 3/2, but discrepancies exist in widths and energies due to the current counting statistics and energy resolution.
