Abstract: We present the development and validation of the Higgs Optimized b Identification Tagger (HOBIT), a multivariate b-jet identification algorithm optimized for Higgs boson searches at the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. At collider experiments, b taggers allow one to distinguish particle jets containing B hadrons from other jets; these algorithms have been used for many years with great success at CDF. HOBIT has been designed specifically for use in searches for light Higgs bosons decaying via . This fact combined with the extent to which HOBIT synthesizes and extends the best ideas of previous taggers makes HOBIT unique among CDF b-tagging algorithms. Employing feed-forward neural network architectures, HOBIT provides an output value ranging from approximately −1 (“light-jet like”) to 1 (“b-jet like”); this continuous output value has been tuned to provide maximum sensitivity in light Higgs boson search analyses. When tuned to the equivalent light jet rejection rate, HOBIT tags 54% of b jets in Monte Carlo simulated Higgs boson events (m H =120GeV/c 2) compared to 39% for SecVtx, the most commonly used b tagger at CDF. We present features of the tagger as well as its characterization in the form of b-jet finding efficiencies and false (light-jet) tag rates. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: The CMS experiment relies on a tracking detector entirely based on silicon sensors for the reconstruction of charged particles in the hostile radiation environment of proton–proton collisions at the CERN LHC. From the recent data collected by CMS at a center-of-mass energy of 7TeV, the tracking, vertexing and b-jet identification performance have been measured. These measurements include the muon tracking efficiency, track transverse momentum resolution, track impact parameter resolution, primary vertex efficiency and resolution, and b-jet identification efficiency. The tracking performance relies, in particular, on the excellent pixel detector tracking capabilities, which are exploited in many contexts such as seeding, b-jet identification, and beam-spot monitor. The pixel stand-alone tracking and vertexing capabilities are shown for a particular application: the beam-spot monitor. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Algorithms distinguishing jets originating from b quarks from other jet flavors are important tools in the physics program of the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. This article describes the methods that have been used to identify b-quark jets, exploiting in particular the long lifetimes of b-flavored hadrons, and the calibration of the performance of these algorithms based on collider data. We report the first observation of single-top-quark production in the s channel through the combination of the CDF and D0 measurements of the cross section in proton-antiproton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The data correspond to total integrated luminosities of up to 9.7fb-1 per experiment. The measured cross section is σs=1.29-0.24+0.26pb. - Abstract
The ability to identify jets which originated from b quarks is an important tool of the physics program of the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron p (p) over bar collider. This paper describes a new algorithm designed to select jets originating from b quarks while suppressing the contamination caused by jets from other quark flavors and gluons. Additionally, a new technique, the SystemN method, for determining the misidentification rate directly from data is presented. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

We combine searches by the CDF and D0 Collaborations for the standard model Higgs boson with mass in the range 90-200 GeV/c2 produced in the gluon-gluon fusion, WH, ZH, tt̄H, and vector boson fusion processes, and decaying in the H→bb̄, H→W+W-, H→ZZ, H→τ+τ-, and H→γγ modes. The data correspond to integrated luminosities of up to 10 fb-1 and were collected at the Fermilab Tevatron in pp̄ collisions at √s=1.96 TeV. The searches are also interpreted in the context of fermiophobic and fourth generation models. We observe a significant excess of events in the mass range between 115 and 140 GeV/c2. The local significance corresponds to 3.0 standard deviations at mH=125 GeV/c2, consistent with the mass of the Higgs boson observed at the LHC, and we expect a local significance of 1.9 standard deviations. We separately combine searches for H→bb̄, H→W +W-, H→τ+τ-, and H→γγ. The CMS experiment relies on a tracking detector entirely based on silicon sensors for the reconstruction of charged particles in the hostile radiation environment of protonproton collisions at the CERN LHC. From the recent data collected by CMS at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, the tracking, vertexing and b-jet identification performance have been measured. These measurements include the muon tracking efficiency, track transverse momentum resolution, track impact parameter resolution, primary vertex efficiency and resolution, and b-jet identification efficiency. The tracking performance relies, in particular, on the excellent pixel detector tracking capabilities, which are exploited in many contexts such as seeding, b-jet identification, and beam-spot monitor. - Abstract
Algorithms distinguishing jets originating from b quarks from other jet flavors are important tools in the physics program of the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron p (p) over bar collider. This article describes the methods that have been used to identify b-quark jets, exploiting in particular the long lifetimes of b-flavored hadrons, and the calibration of the performance of these algorithms based on collider data.

et al., Combined constraints from the CDF and D0 Collaborations on models of the Higgs boson with exotic spin J and parity P are presented and compared with results obtained assuming the standard model value JP=0+. Both collaborations analyzed approximately 10 fb−1 of proton-antiproton collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV collected at the Fermilab Tevatron. Two models predicting exotic Higgs bosons with JP=0− and JP=2+ are tested. The kinematic properties of exotic Higgs boson production in association with a vector boson differ from those predicted for the standard model Higgs boson. Upper limits at the 95% credibility level on the production rates of the exotic Higgs bosons, expressed as fractions of the standard model Higgs boson production rate, are set at 0.36 for both the JP=0− hypothesis and the JP=2+ hypothesis.
