2. Enrichment of shortcrust pastry cookies with bee products: polyphenol profile, in vitro bioactive potential, heat-induced compounds content, colour parameters and sensory changes

Abstract Bee products, including bee pollen (BP) and bee bread (BB) are natural sources that contain a diverse range of bioactive compounds. The objective of this study was to investigate the potential of BP and BB to enhance the functional properties of shortcrust pastry cookies. The impact on BP and BB on the colour parameters, polyphenolic compounds content, heat-induced compounds content (acrylamide, furfural, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF)), antioxidant properties, and inhibitory effects against advanced glycation end products (AGEs) formation and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity was examine by enriching cookies with 3 and 10% of BP or BB. The incorporation of BP or BB resulted in a notable darkening of the cookies. The spectroscopic and chromatographic analyses revealed that the cookies enriched with bee products exhibited an elevated content of phenolic compounds. The antioxidant activity (AA) of the enriched cookies exhibited an average increase of 2- to 3-fold in the ABTS test and 2-fold in the DPPH test. All cookies exhibited inhibitory potential against AGEs formation, witch inhibitory rates ranging from 10.64 to 46.22% in the BSA-GLU model and 1.75–19.33% in BSA-MGO model. The cookies enriched with 10% BP were characterised by to the highest level of AChE activity inhibition (13.72%). The incorporation of BB and BP resulted in elevated concentration of acrylamide, furfural, and HMF. Our findings suggest that bee products may serve as a valuable addition to food ingredients, significantly enhancing the functional properties of shortcrust pastry cookies. However, further investigation is necessary to address the increased level of heat-induced compounds.

This article delves into the nuances of summit diplomacy in regional formats within Central Europe, with a particular emphasis on the Visegrád Group (V4), the Bucharest Nine (B9), and the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) from 2015 to 2023. Though each format functions differently, all rely on summit diplomacy to achieve their objectives. The article aims to explore the reasons why informal regional formats are frequently implemented in this region. The study conducts a thorough review of existing literature. It systematically analyses past instances of the selected formats, considering variables such as meeting frequency, location, and the level of representation. Based on the adopted definition of summit diplomacy, this article classifies the meetings of the highest level during the specified period as personal meetings between political leaders from at least two countries with official, state roles, such as presidents, prime ministers, or ministers. These leaders hold significant power to shape their country’s foreign policy and influence the legal and political order through summit decisions, while engaging with counterparts from other nations. The paper also highlights the variations between the above-mentioned formats in Central Europe, including the differences in meeting frequency, level of representation, and the number of participating states.

Melatonin, a hormone primarily synthesized by the pineal gland, is traditionally associated with the regulation of circadian rhythms. However, recent research has unveiled its broad spectrum of biological effects, positioning it as a valuable therapeutic agent in diverse health contexts. Known for its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, melatonin plays a crucial role in maintaining homeostasis and protecting cellular integrity. This review explores melatonin’s therapeutic applications across multiple medical domains, including muscle health, metabolic disorders, chronic pain management, and cardiovascular health. In muscle health, melatonin facilitates muscle hypertrophy and regeneration by mitigating oxidative stress and enhancing the activity of satellite cells responsible for muscle repair. This action is particularly beneficial for individuals undergoing intense physical exertion, recovering from injuries, or combating age-related muscle. In metabolic disorders, such as type 2 diabetes, melatonin improves insulin sensitivity and reduces cellular oxidative damage, which supports beta-cell function and glucose regulation, potentially minimizing diabetes-related complications. Furthermore, in fibromyalgia - a condition marked by widespread pain and sleep disturbances - melatonin has demonstrated efficacy in alleviating pain and improving sleep quality, thus enhancing the overall quality of life for patients. In cardiovascular health, melatonin has shown promise in preventing and managing heart failure by reducing oxidative damage, modulating inflammatory pathways, and supporting endothelial function, which collectively contribute to improved cardiac health and reduced disease progression. This comprehensive review underscores melatonin’s emerging role as an integrative therapeutic agent in modern medicine.

Diabetic retinopathy, also defined as diabetic eye disease is one of the main causes of eye complications and blindless in the world therefore leads to irreversible vision disorder and vision loss. A pregnant women as a patient is always a real challenge for doctors of various specialties. During this period, numerous systemic changes occur, such as increased blood pressure in the third trimester, increased blood volume insulin resistance with worsening glycemic control and excessive coagulation. The above complication may be reflected in the image of the fundus of the eye. Pregnancy may induce retinal disease such as diabetic retinopathy. This review article presents the incidence, pathogenesis and risk factors associated with diabetic retinopathy during pregnancy. More over in the following paper discussed management of diabetic retinopathy in pregnancy and guidelines are recommended based on the achievable evidence.

Introduction: In today’s world, we know how important it is to keep healthy habits because many diseases begin with daily lifestyle choices. Dry eye disease is a disease of the ocular surface and there are many risk factors, that lead to developing this disorder. As the possible factors we can underline deficiency of vitamin D or Omega-3 fatty acids, lack of physical exercise, long screen time, or smoking tobacco. Aim of the study: This review seeks to highlight the issue of dry eye disease linked to everyday routines by examining clinical trial outcomes. Furthermore, it offers an analysis of potential strategies to prevent ocular alterations by critically evaluating the existing data. State of knowledge: The listed lifestyle choices cause a higher risk of developing dry eye disease and affect ocular health on many levels, leading to unpleasant feelings and affecting people’s lives. However, with some lifestyle changes, the risk of developing this disease can be decreased, and negative symptoms can be minimized. It is important to remember vitamin D, and Omega-3 supplementation, daily physical activity, minimalization of the time spent in front of the visual display terminals, and quitting smoking. Conclusions: Many daily habits are connected to developing dry eye disease, and it is very important to remember about the small daily changes, which can decrease the risk of the disease.

Episcleritis is an inflammatory condition affecting the episclera of the eye, which is the tissue between the sclera and conjunctiva. It manifests as unilateral or bilateral redness and discomfort. Despite its typically benign course, it may signal underlying systemic disorders, necessitating comprehensive evaluation and personalized management. While most cases are idiopathic, autoimmune diseases and infections may play contributory roles. Epidemiological studies reveal a predilection for young to middle-aged females, with episcleritis being less common in children. Diagnostically, characteristic features include sectoral redness and mild discomfort, distinguishing it from conjunctivitis and scleritis. Treatment primarily focuses on symptomatic relief, utilizing topical steroids, oral NSAIDs, and artificial tears. The prognosis is generally favourable, with spontaneous resolution within weeks; however, recurrent, or chronic cases may necessitate further evaluation for underlying systemic conditions. This comprehensive review aims to elucidate etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, management strategies, prognosis of episcleritis, and clinical nuances, drawing upon recent literature from 1976 to the present. By consolidating contemporary knowledge, this review provides valuable insights for clinicians on how to treat this ocular condition effectively.

Introduction: Tension-type headache (TTH) is a common neurological disorder characterized by bilateral head pain and muscle tension, affecting up to 78% of the population. Despite its prevalence, TTH has historically received less attention than migraines. However, recent years have seen increased interest in understanding its pathophysiology and treatment options. This review comprehensively analyzes TTH management, covering non-pharmacological and pharmacological approaches to guide clinical practice and future research effectively. State of Knowledge: TTHs manifest as bilateral, pressing, encircling head pain, profoundly affecting individuals' quality of life. Recent years have witnessed increased interest in TTH understanding and treatment. Non-pharmacological interventions, including behavioral modifications, exercise, dietary adjustments, sleep hygiene, physical therapy, psychotherapy, and pharmacological treatments like over-the-counter medications, prophylactic drugs, psychedelics, and botulinum toxin A, have shown promise in alleviating symptoms. Conclusion: This review highlights the multifaceted management of TTH. Non-pharmacological interventions, including behavioral modifications and psychotherapy, offer symptom relief. Body awareness therapy, exercise, and psychotherapy benefit TTH symptoms and quality of life. Paracetamol, ibuprofen, and amitriptyline are standard treatments, with emerging options like psychedelics and botulinum toxin A. Personalizing treatment and understanding TTH mechanisms pose challenges. A multidisciplinary approach is essential for enhancing management and outcomes. More research is required to identify optimal treatments and long-term efficacy. Despite challenges, progress in TTH management brings hope for better patient care.

Introduction: Vitamin D is a steroid hormone that can modulate immune and inflammatory responses. Recent investigations have shed light on its potential role in the pathogenesis of many diseases affecting the eyes. Aim of the study: This paper aims to provide a comprehensive review of the existing findings on the relationship between vitamin D and ocular diseases. The intention is to present new perspectives that will contribute to a better understanding of the complicated nature of this aspect. Material and methods: This review included relevant papers from PubMed database using specified keywords. Analysis of the literature: The role of vitamin D in ocular and visual health has been observed in many studies. A deficiency of vitamin D may play a significant role in the development of many ocular diseases such as dry eye disease, myopia, diabetic retinopathy, keratoconus, and thyroid eye disease. Conclusions: Adequate vitamin D levels are significant for maintaining ocular health. Recognition of the pivotal role of vitamin D in ocular diseases opens new possibilities for potential therapeutic interventions. Ongoing research is needed to further investigate that aspect. Supplementation of vitamin D may prevent or modulate many diseases affecting the eyes.

In recent years, medical marijuana (cannabis) has emerged as a potential adjunctive or alternative therapy for managing pain in oncological patients. This narrative review critically evaluates the existing literature on the efficacy, safety, and underlying mechanisms of action of medical marijuana in alleviating pain associated with cancer. Drawing upon a synthesis of preclinical and clinical studies, as well as meta-analyses and systematic reviews, this review provides insights into the scientific basis and clinical implications of utilizing medical marijuana in oncological pain management.

Post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) is a common complication following spinal procedures, particularly lumbar punctures and epidural anesthesia. This systematic review aims to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of various management strategies for PDPH. A comprehensive search was conducted across major databases for relevant articles published up to January 2024. The inclusion criteria comprised studies assessing interventions for post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) management in adult populations. Data extraction and quality evaluation were conducted independently by two reviewers. Analysis involved 34 studies meeting the inclusion criteria. The results indicate that conservative approaches, including bed rest, hydration, caffeine, and analgesics, continue to serve as the fundamental components of PDPH management. Additionally, epidural blood patch (EBP) emerged as the most effective intervention for refractory cases. However, further research is needed to optimize treatment protocols and explore emerging therapies.

Introduction and Objective: The 2023 update to the 2021 ESC Guidelines for diagnosing and treating acute and chronic heart failure introduces significant changes in pharmacotherapy and prevention. Staying informed about these updates is crucial given the evolving landscape of heart failure management. This review provides an overview of the latest recommendations and supporting evidence. Review Methods: A comprehensive review of scientific publications and guidelines from PubMed, Google Scholar, Clinical Key, Via Medica Journals, and relevant clinical guidelines was conducted to ensure the most recent evidence is considered. Brief Description of the State of Knowledge: Heart failure is a growing global concern. The 2023 update highlights key management changes. Recent trials, including EMPEROR-Preserved and DELIVER, show empagliflozin and dapagliflozin reduce heart failure hospitalization and cardiovascular death in patients with mildly reduced and preserved ejection fraction. The guidelines now recommend intravenous iron for patients with reduced or mildly reduced ejection fraction and iron deficiency. For those with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease, SGLT2 inhibitors and finerenone, a non-steroidal mineralocorticoid antagonist, are recommended to reduce heart failure hospitalization and prevent renal function decline. Summary: The 2023 ESC Guidelines update offers revised recommendations for heart failure management and prevention, integrating the latest clinical trial data and meta-analyses. Key areas include the use of SGLT2 inhibitors, iron deficiency management, and preventive strategies for high-risk populations. Implementing these guidelines can significantly improve preventive and therapeutic outcomes for heart failure patients.

In the paper, we analyze the image of the Soviet Union and Russia presented by the Lithuanian and Polish states to the youngest generation. Our empirical data comes from textbooks for social sciences and recent history, beginning from the gaining independence of both countries after the First World War until the aggression on Ukraine in 2014. We focused on the ways of presenting to the pupils the politics, society, and culture of the Soviet and Russian states. We show how textbooks present the Russian state as irrational and dangerous and how the longue durée of the imperial thinking is seen as the leitmotiv of the narratives on Russian history.

Purpose of research: PCOS is one of the most common endocrine disorders. It is estimated to affect about 5-10% of women of reproductive age. This paper aims to highlight the challenges faced by those with PCOS and to demonstrate the importance of non-pharmacological methods in treating this condition. Methods: Databases such as PubMed, Medline, and ResearchGate were used. Basic results: PCOS is associated with menstrual irregularities and leads to reduced fertility, while commonly occurring hyperandrogenism causes unpleasant changes in appearance, such as hair loss, hirsutism, and acne. Women with PCOS also have an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and certain cancers. Conclusions: The first line of treatment for PCOS is lifestyle modification. Appropriate diet and weight loss aim to reduce inflammation, regulate the menstrual cycle, restore ovulation, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer. An important aspect is the intake of vitamins D and E, as well as inositol. Research shows that probiotics may also have a positive effect.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is a chronic autoimmune condition characterized by the destruction of insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas, necessitating lifelong insulin therapy. This study explores the impact of physical activity on glycemic control and overall health in individuals with T1DM. Despite its proven benefits, including improved cardiovascular health, lower HbA1c levels, and reduced insulin requirements, over 60% of T1DM patients do not engage in regular exercise. Different types of physical activities—such as aerobic, anaerobic, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT)—affect metabolic responses differently. Aerobic exercises and HIIT have shown significant improvements in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and reduced incidence of severe complications, such as diabetic ketoacidosis. However, exercise-induced hypoglycemia remains a significant risk, especially if exercise follows recent severe hypoglycemic episodes. Proper management strategies include adjusting insulin doses, monitoring glucose levels, and carbohydrate intake. The study highlights the importance of tailored exercise plans and preventive measures to mitigate risks such as nocturnal hypoglycemia and elevated ketones. Ultimately, effective integration of physical activity into diabetes management can lead to enhanced overall health and quality of life for individuals with T1DM.

Introduction and aim of study: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders affecting young women. It is diagnosed in individuals who meet 2 of the following 3 criteria: hyperandrogenism, ovarian dysfunction or polycystic ovarian morphology on ultrasound. A common component of this disease is obesity that leads to many serious health complications. This review paper aims to discuss the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists as a therapeutic option to treat obesity in female patients with PCOS. Materials and Methods: The authors conducted a comprehensive review of the literature available in databases: PubMed and Medline focusing on the terms “PCOS”, “GLP-1”, “obesity”. Results: The first-line treatment of metabolic disorders in the course of PCOS is lifestyle modification. In patients who do not achieve sufficient results pharmacotherapy is recommended. Therapy with GLP-1 receptor agonists shows beneficial effects not only on weight loss, but also on metabolic and endocrine disorders. Studies have proven the superiority of these medications over metformin in the treatment of obesity associated with PCOS. However, the simultaneous use of GLP-1 receptor agonists and metformin may be beneficial for the patients. Conclusions: GLP-1 receptor agonists appear to be a promising therapeutic option in obese women with PCOS according to safety profile and effectiveness proven in studies.

Introduction and aim of study: Migraine is a chronic neurological disorder that is considered one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Increasing evidence indicates that the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), a neuropeptide released during trigeminal nerve activation, plays a major role in pathophysiology and serves as an important therapeutic target. Rimegepant is an antagonist for the receptor of this peptide and an alternative to the commonly used triptans. Materials and Methods: Two databases, Pubmed and Medline, were searched using the terms "rimegepant" and "migraine." Results: By reducing the severity and frequency of migraine attacks, rimegepant significantly improves patients' daily functioning and quality of life. A single 75 mg dose of rimegepant provided better efficacy than placebo in the acute treatment of migraine. Two hours after dosing, significantly more patients in the rimegepant group than in the placebo group reported pain relief (59.3% vs. 43.3%). Rimegepant was also effective in the long term when taken every other day for preventive treatment of migraine and/or as needed for acute migraine treatment. When used, rimegepant was well tolerated in both acute and preventive migraine treatment. The most common adverse events included nasopharyngitis, nausea, urinary tract infection, and upper respiratory tract infection. Conclusions: Rimegepant is an effective drug for treating migraine attacks, offering quick and long-lasting pain relief with a favorable safety profile, especially for patients with contraindications to triptans. Therefore, rimegepant represents a valuable alternative for patients who do not respond adequately to other available migraine therapies.

Introduction: Popular energy drinks containing caffeine, taurine or guarana are currently generating a lot of interest. Their supply is an increasingly popular method of boosting the body. Therefore, it is important to know the effects of such drinks on health. Objective: A review of the literature on the health effects of energy drinks with a focus on the value of their consumption in athletes. Current Knowledge: Many studies have been made and numerous medical cases have been analyzed to assess the health effects of energy drinks. The most commonly described complications are those involving the cardiovascular and neurological systems, but there are also cases of gastrointestinal, kidney, gynecological or skin diseases. The severity of these complications depends on the amount of energy drinks consumed and the time interval in which they were drunk. Nowadays, athletes are increasingly turning to energy drinks to boost their performance. It is also noticeable that children and adolescents who should not consume caffeine or sugar in excess consume this type of drink. Conclusions: The growing popularity of energy drinks, including among professional athletes as well as children and adolescents, is leading to an increasing number of complications due to their excessive consumption. Therefore, further research on their health effects and harmfulness is needed to determine their safe use.

Purpose of Research: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most frequently diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorders. It is estimated to occur in approximately 5-10% of children and adolescents. This paper aims to highlight the challenges faced by individuals suffering from ADHD, present risk factors, summarize current treatment methods, and outline the consequences of neglecting treatment. Methods: Databases such as PubMed, Medline, and ResearchGate were used. Basic Results: The goal of ADHD treatment is to reduce the severity of symptoms and improve the social, academic, and emotional functioning of children and adolescents. The choice of treatment and the selection of a specific medication depend on the patient's age and coexisting disorders. Conclusions: ADHD often coexists with other mental disorders, complicating diagnosis and treatment. Lack of or ineffective treatment has consequences such as learning difficulties, disruptions in peer and family relationships. It correlates with higher rates of traffic accidents, accidental injuries, earlier onset, and higher rates of substance abuse.

Introduction Lactoferrin is a glycoprotein belonging to the group of transferrins found in most body fluids. It has been shown to possess antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and anticancer properties. The increasing availability and widespread use of dietary supplements containing lactoferrin have been observed as supportive measures in managing various infections. Aim of the study The objective of this study is to summarize the current knowledge regarding the anti-infective - mostly antiviral - effects of lactoferrin and the justification for its use in the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections. Knowledge summary Scientific research has consistently confirmed the effectiveness of lactoferrin against pathogenic microorganisms. The antibacterial effect of this protein is based mainly on the management of available iron resources - an ingredient necessary for bacterial growth. On the other hand, the antiviral activity of this protein is based on the induction of interferon production. Conclusion Dietary supplements containing lactoferrin are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for supportive use in infections. Lactoferrin exhibits antimicrobial activity supported by research in specific infections. It has a good tolerance and safety profile, therefore it seems that it can be used adjunctively in this indication.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) occurs in 5 to 10% of women of reproductive age and is the most common cause of anovulation in infertile women. PCOS is associated with insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and increased cardiovascular risk. Although insulin resistance is not included as a criterion for diagnosis, it is a critical pathological condition of PCOS. While PCOS can pose challenges to women's health, with appropriate medical care and lifestyle modifications, symptoms can be effectively managed and the risk of associated health complications reduced. Behavioral, medical and surgical treatments have been evaluated in order to improve the fertility of women with PCOS. Lifestyle modifications (stop smoking, physical exercise and weight loss when necessary) are of the utmost importance. The aim of this paper is to present the available methods of treatment, prevention of consequences and fertility problems affecting women with PCOS.

Introduction: Questioning how we can boost our immunity during the infectious season often arises in the general practicioner’s office. Patients report issues with recurring infections, affecting not only children but also adults, particularly those in professionally exposed groups such as teachers. Therefore, is it worthwhile to recommend over-the-counter (OTC) products available in pharmacies to patients, aiming to strengthen their immunity? This article discusses the most commonly used supplements and immune-boosting preparations by patients and physicians, along with scientific evidence regarding their effectiveness. Material and methods: The basis of the work were medical articles collected in the PubMed database. The research was conducted by analyzing key words such as: vitamin D3, immunity improvement, zinc, bacterial lysates, lactoferrin, fish oil, omega-3 fatty acids, Echinacea purpurea, Spirulina maxima, curcumin, probiotics, ginseng. Results: In the pharmaceutical market, there are many supplements aimed at boosting the immune system. However, most of them lack sufficient scientific evidence regarding their effectiveness. The studies conducted so far are of low quality and limited in number. Further research is necessary to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of immune-boosting supplements.

ABSTRACT: Prolactinoma is a benign tumor of the pituitary gland that leads to the overproduction of prolactin. It is the most common type of pituitary adenoma, accounting for approximately 50% of all pituitary tumors. The clinical presentation of prolactinoma varies depending on the level of prolactin elevation and the size of the tumor. In women, common symptoms include galactorrhea, amenorrhea, and infertility. Men may present with hypogonadism, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and gynecomastia. Large prolactinomas, known as macroadenomas, can cause mass effects such as headaches, visual disturbances due to compression of the optic chiasm, and hypopituitarism due to pressure on surrounding pituitary tissue. Understanding the pathogenesis of prolactinoma is crucial for developing effective treatments and improving patient outcomes. The development of prolactinomas involves a complex interplay of genetic, hormonal, and cellular factors. Treatment of prolactinoma aims to normalize prolactin levels, reduce tumor size, and alleviate symptoms. The first-line therapy is dopamine agonists, such as cabergoline and bromocriptine, with surgery and radiotherapy reserved for refractory cases. Furthermore, chemotherapeutic agent - temozolomide may be a treatment of choice in aggressive or malignant prolactinomas. By understanding the underlying mechanisms and different treatment methods, healthcare providers can optimize the management and outcomes for patients with prolactinoma.

MASLD is one of the most important and leading causes of liver disease worldwide. This disease is a public health challenge in the 21st century. Aim of the study: This article aims to present the latest literature data on MASLD. The study is intended to show what consequences are associated with changing the name of the disease and this article is purposive to be a vademecum of knowledge for practicing physicians. Material and methods: Comprehensive literature searches were performed across the main electronic databases of PubMed and GoogleScholar using the keywords: "metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease”, “MASLD”, “non-alcoholic fatty liver disease” and “NAFLD” Conclusions: Most patients do not report any symptoms. It is important to identify patients at increased risk of MASLD. A fundamental role in prevention and treatment is lifestyle changes. The pharmacological approach includes among others use of antidiabetic drugs and treatment of other associated states.

Introduction: Type 1 diabetes is a disease requiring complex treatment: intensive functional insulin therapy with multiple subcutaneous insulin injections (Multiple daily doses of insulin- MDI) or continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) with a personal insulin pump. Type 1 diabetes is a disease with many complications including cardiovascular diseases. A key element in good disease control is adequate patient education. This paper will focus on physical activity and its impact on the course of the disease. Aim of the study: To research the impact of physical activity on the course of type 1 diabetes. To reinforce medical professionals' knowledge of exercise management among patients with type 1 diabetes. State of Knowledge: Regular physical exercise is beneficial for diabetes control, at the same time reducing the need for insulin. It also reduces the risk of dangerous late cardiovascular complications. Meta-analyses have shown a significant effect of physical activity on the reduction of HbA1c, BMI, triglycerides and total cholesterol. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems are recommended for physically active people with type 1 diabetes. Optimal glycaemia at the start and during sport are: for aerobic exercise 126-180 mg/dl (7-10 mmol/l), for anaerobic exercise 90-180 mg/dl (5-10 mmol/l). The reduction in insulin dose depends on the type of exercise, the length of the exercise, the method of treatment, and the pre-exercise blood glucose level. Conclusion: Physical exercise improves the control of type 1 diabetes and therefore reduces the risk of complications of the disease including cardiovascular diseases. Type 1 diabetes is not a contraindication to both amateur and professional sport. However, many variables need to be considered. Every patient with type 1 diabetes must be properly trained before starting exercise.

Purpose of research: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common health problem, especially among women which impairs daily functioning. The purpose of this research is to elucidate the pathophysiology of stress urinary incontinence (SUI), describe its diagnostic methods, summarize current treatments in light of recent studies, and outline examples of new potential therapies. Methods: Databases such as PubMed, Medline, and ResearchGate were searched with particular attention to the current guidelines. Basic results: The primary treatment of SUI is lifestyle modification, including weight reduction. Pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) is recommended as first-line therapy, reducing the number of incontinence episodes and improving quality of life. Additional methods include electrical stimulation or biofeedback. At later stages of treatment, pharmacological therapy is recommended, mainly using vaginal oestrogens and duloxetine. Conclusions: Non-operative therapies, such as lifestyle modification and PFMT, are effective treatments for SUI. In combination with pharmacotherapy, they significantly improve the quality of life of patients without invasive surgical procedures.

This study aims to examine the effects of long-term exposure to high levels of UV-C radiation on the mechanical strengths of PMMA. PMMA is known to degrade when exposed to UV radiation, which can lead to a fragile fracture layer on its surface. The study was conducted by exposing standard commercially available PMMA plates to UV-C radiation using a purpose-designed irradiation stand. The samples were tested using a tensile test machine to measure mechanical properties. The results of the study provide important information on how PMMA reacts to long-term exposure to UV-C radiation and can help manufacturers design and produce products using PMMA construction materials that can withstand exposure to UV-C radiation.

The documentation of cultural heritage objects requires a special approach, as does the collection of materials describing a monument over a period of time. With the development of measurement and information technologies, such documentation can be supplemented by a digital model of the object, a 3D visualization in a computer environment, or a miniature, scaled 3D printout. This paper presents a methodology for developing the 3D documentation of the Monument to the Polish Diaspora Bond with the Homeland, a sculpture located in Koszalin, Poland. In the study, terrestrial laser scanning supplemented with photos was used for non-invasive measurements, and existing free software was used to generate a 3D model. The results of the study can supplement the technical documentation of an object so as to preserve its characteristic features and ease the conservation of monuments. The proposed approach to modelling 3D monuments can be used to create HBIM documentation.

Withania somnifera, commonly known as ashwagandha, has gained popularity in recent years among individuals interested in healthy lifestyles, natural medicine, and sports. This review aims to summarize the current knowledge regarding the effects of ashwagandha supplementation on various aspects of physical performance, particularly in the context of resistance training. Studies have shown that ashwagandha can positively impact muscle strength, with significant increase of muscle force and power output. Additionally, it has demonstrated potential in modulating body composition, with reduction of body fat percentage noted in certain populations. However, results of studies on ashwagandha’s effect on muscle size remain inconclusive and may depend on various factors such as training status and individual responses. In terms of endurance, ashwagandha supplementation has been associated with improvement in maximal oxygen uptake, indicating enhanced aerobic capacity and delayed exhaustion during endurance activities. Furthermore, ashwagandha was shown to aid muscle recovery by reducing exercise-induced muscle damage and inflammatory response, potentially accelerating the muscle regeneration process. Ashwagandha may also influence hormone levels, such as testosterone and cortisol, with potential implications for muscle growth and recovery. However, further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms underlying these effects. Overall, ashwagandha supplementation appears to hold promise for enhancing physical performance and overall well-being. Energy policy has a significant impact on the state of the environment and, therefore, on residents’ health and life expectancy, especially in highly urbanized areas. Reducing emissions is currently one of the necessary actions that must be taken at the scale of individual countries to ensure sustainable development. The article aims to identify the best ways to shape energy policy by evaluating development scenarios for air protection and their environmental impact. The realization of the goal is based on the data included in three groups: (1) Economic factors, Health factors, and Demographic factors; (2) Clima-e related economic losses, Renewable Energy sources in electricity, heating, and cooling, Premature deaths due to exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5), Health impacts of air pollution, Population change; (3) Demographic balance and crude rates at the national level, GDP per capita in purchasing power PPS, GDP, and principal components; covering 36 EU countries in 2019 and 2021. The study proposes an advanced methodology for assessing development strategies by integrating the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and Bayesian networks (BN) and incorporating them into a multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) support system. The TOPSIS model based on BN allowed for the illustration of the features of many criteria and the identification of relationships between scenarios, allowing for selecting the best way to develop energy policy. The results showed a 60.39% chance of achieving success in extending the life of residents by five years. At the same time, the most favorable development path was the scenario promoting activities aimed at reducing air pollution by introducing renewable energy sources to produce energy used for lighting and preparing domestic hot water urban areas. By presenting possible scenarios and the probability of success, it is possible to achieve the goal of practical energy policy at the level of the country and individual European cities and also by extending the life of city inhabitants, as presented by the authors in this study.

Chronic pancreatitis (CP) in young individuals may lead to disease-related secondary sarcopenia (SSARC), characterized by muscle loss and systemic inflammation. In this study, CP was induced in young pigs, and serum levels of key hormones, muscle fiber diameters in various muscles, and the mRNA expression of genes related to oxidative stress and programmed cell death were assessed. A decrease in muscle fiber diameters was observed in SSARC pigs, particularly in the longissimus and diaphragm muscles. Hormonal analysis revealed alterations in dehydroepiandrosterone, testosterone, oxytocin, myostatin, and cortisol levels, indicating a distinct hormonal response in SSARC pigs compared to controls. Oxytocin levels in SSARC pigs were significantly lower and myostatin levels higher. Additionally, changes in the expression of catalase (CAT), caspase 8 (CASP8), B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL2), and BCL2-associated X protein (BAX) mRNA suggested a downregulation of oxidative stress response and apoptosis regulation. A reduced BAX/BCL2 ratio in SSARC pigs implied potential caspase-independent cell death pathways. The findings highlight the complex interplay between hormonal changes and muscle degradation in SSARC, underscoring the need for further research into the apoptotic and inflammatory pathways involved in muscle changes due to chronic organ inflammation in young individuals.

This research deals with the design problems of LED-based spectrally tunable light sources (LSTLSs). The study aims to assess the reliability of popular models for the spectral modeling of LED radiation and a typically used curve-fitting criterion (R2) in the development of high-quality multi-emitter LED retrofits for incandescent photometric illuminant. The research methodology involves modeling each LED channel using Lorentz and Gaussian functions and combining multiple channels to approximate the desired spectral power distribution (SPD). After the optimization, 20 various LED sets were designed, which allowed us to replicate the SPD of CIE illuminant A with a very high R2 value. Two sets were constructed and measured to recognize the reliability of the simulation approach. The results suggest that for planning the LSTLS for photometric applications, these models are unreliable as they do not reflect the real effect of changes in the characteristics of the components nor reveal the share of various spectral ranges. Therefore, the decisions made on these criteria may not be the best solutions in the context of specific applications.

Introduction: On the basis of education, the criterion-referenced diagnosis of the disorder does not provide sufficient grounds for planning educational and therapeutic support. The functional characteristics supplementing the data from the nosological diagnosis show the possibilities and difficulties of a person in functioning in the everyday life context. Research Aim: The aim of the article is to present observational scales for assessing the cognitive functioning of people with moderate (KAPP_SNIU), severe (KAPP_SNIZ) and profound (KAPP_SNIG) intellectual disabilities aged 6 to 25, which are part of the KAPP diagnostic battery. Evidence-based Facts: Current diagnostic instruments for the functional assessment of people with moderate, severe and profound intellectual disabilities contain outdated or non-standardized tools. In Poland, there is a need to supplement this catalogue. Summary: The scales are intended for functional assessment performed by special educators, psychologists and specialists. Theoretical assumptions on which the construction of the scales is based and the stages of this process, which included: pilot studies, standardization studies and validation studies, are presented. The psychometric properties of the scales as well as the data confirming convergent and differential validity are also described. The last chapter presenting the fields for interpretation of the results (inter-individual, intra-individual comparisons and between the parallel perspectives of the parent and teacher in the 270-degree diagnosis model) gives specialists a picture of the possibility of using tools in everyday diagnostic and therapeutic work.

Abstract Background Recent studies revealed that alterations in glucose and lipid metabolism in idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) are associated with disease severity and poor survival. However, data regarding the impact of diabetes mellitus (DM) on the prognosis of patients with IPAH remain scarce. The aim of our study was to determine that impact using data from a national multicentre prospective pulmonary hypertension registry. Methods We analysed data of adult patients with IPAH from the Database of Pulmonary Hypertension in the Polish population (BNP‑PL) between March 1, 2018 and August 31, 2020. Upon admission, clinical, echocardiographic, and haemodynamic data were collected at 21 Polish IPAH reference centres. The all-cause mortality was assessed during a 30-month follow-up period. To adjust for differences in age, body mass index (BMI), and comorbidities between patients with and without DM, a 2-group propensity score matching was performed using a 1:1 pairing algorithm. Results A total of 532 patients with IPAH were included in the study and 25.6% were diagnosed with DM. Further matched analysis was performed in 136 patients with DM and 136 without DM. DM was associated with older age, higher BMI, more advanced exertional dyspnea, increased levels of N-terminal pro–brain natriuretic peptide, larger right atrial area, increased mean right atrial pressure, mean pulmonary artery pressure, pulmonary vascular resistance, and all-cause mortality compared with no DM. Conclusions Patients with IPAH and DM present with more advanced pulmonary vascular disease and worse survival than counterparts without DM independently of age, BMI, and cardiovascular comorbidities.

40. Method of Selecting a Rational Strategy in Sustainable Friction Drilling

The presented paper contains a description of a new method of determining the optimum feed rate for a waste-free, energy-efficient drilling process being a friction drilling. Previous experience has shown that the energy required to drill a hole by friction drilling is closely correlated with the drilling cycle time. Based on the authors' own experience, the thesis was put forward that the optimum feed rate during the drilling procedure should be variable but smooth. Additional evaluation criteria for the developed method were the drilling cycle time, the maximum values of the axial force and torque, the maximum values of the feed drive and machine spindle drive load, as well as the energy consumption. The test rig was based on a numerically controlled machine tool, equipped with an axial force and torque sensor, and additional dedicated measuring devices for measuring energy consumption. The results of the study indicate the high competitiveness of the developed approach, compared to the feed rate control strategies in a friction drilling cycle known from the literature. The proposed approach for selecting the longitudinal feed rate can quickly gain a significant number of applications. Studies have shown that optimally planned feed rates can reduce energy intensity by up to 47%.

Introduction: Obesity is a significant clinical problem worldwide. The disease exhibits remarkable heterogeneity, leading to diverse pathogenesis among individuals. Despite a growing selection of weight-reducing medications and increased awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle, the effectiveness of obesity therapy often remains insufficient. This raises the question of whether tailoring obesity pharmacotherapy to specific phenotypes and individual patient characteristics results in improved treatment outcomes. Objective: To review literature on the effectiveness of obesity treatment based on the personalization of pharmacotherapy according to its underlying causes. Current Knowledge: Currently, the early outcome of weight loss is closely linked to the long-term effectiveness of obesity pharmacotherapy. However, due to the diversity of obesity pathogenesis, it is not helpful in selecting therapy at the initiation of treatment. Specific characteristics are sought to indicate the appropriate drug during therapy planning. In a U.S. study (Acosta et al., 2021) results showed that phenotype-guided obesity pharmacotherapy resulted in clinically more significant absolute weight loss than in the non-phenotyped group. Other studies demonstrated that for very rare types of obesity dependent on specific genetic mutations, targeted treatment addressing these defects yielded the best therapeutic outcomes (recombinant human leptin therapy for patients with leptin gene mutation – Farooqi et al., 2002; setmelanotide therapy for individuals with proopiomelanocortin deficiency – Clément et al., 2020). The impact of specific gene variants on therapeutic response should also be considered, leading to variability in treatment effects for different patients using the same drug. Conclusion: The concept of basing therapy on obesity phenotypes may currently serve as a guide for treatment selection, although it still requires confirmation in randomized clinical trials.

The aim of the study was to assess the profile of EC (elemental carbon) and OC (organic carbon) temperature fractions in PM1 and PM2.5 samples and in wet deposition samples (material collected on a filter). The research was conducted at the urban background station in Zabrze (southern Poland) in the period of Oct 2020–Oct 2021. PM samples were collected with high-volume samplers; the automatic precipitation collector NSA 181 by Eigenbrodt was used to collect the deposition samples. Concentrations of EC and OC were determined using thermal-optical method (carbon analyzer from Sunset Laboratory Inc., “eusaar_2” protocol). Regardless of the type of research material, organic carbon constituted the dominant part of the carbonaceous matter, and this dominance was more visible in the non-heating season. The profile of temperature fractions of OC and EC was clearly different for dust washed out by precipitation. Noteworthy is a much lower content of pyrolytic carbon (PC) in OC, which can be explained by the fact that PC is most often combined with the water soluble organic carbon. In addition, a high proportion of the OC3 fraction was observed, followed by OC4, which may indicate that these fractions are of a more regional origin. With regard to the EC fractions, the differences are less visible and concern, in particular, the higher share of EC4 and the lower EC2. The obtained results may be a valuable source of information about the actual status of the carbonaceous matter and its transformation in the atmosphere.

In many cases, archaeological research allows to explain the history and evolution of heritage buildings. To support these studies, the availability of reliable 3D representations of such buildings has already been shown to be of remarkable importance. Thanks to the development of Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) and close-range photogrammetric techniques, the generation of such 3D representations by means of remote sensing techniques has become quite common nowadays. While TLS can still be considered as the state-of-the-art method for generating accurate building geometric models, acquisition methods based on the use of mobile devices is becoming a quite attractive solution in order to speed up the survey while also enabling an easier data acquisition on certain narrow places. Despite a plethora of mobile mapping tools is currently available on the market, smartphones are clearly the most widely used smart mobile device in the world, being an ideal solution in terms of usability, portability, and spread. Motivated by this observation and by the recent availability of smartphones provided with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) sensors, this paper aims at investigating the effectiveness of the integration of traditional TLS with smartphone LiDAR on the survey of the castle in Lidzbark Warminski, which dates back to the mid-fourteenth century. TLS, with the scanner set on a standard tripod, was used to scan easily accessible places. TLS mounted on a dedicated tripod, patented by the co-authors of the project was used for less easy-to-reach places. Finally, smartphone LiDAR enabled 3D data acquisition on very hard-to-reach locations, e.g. excavation areas. The model obtained by integrating the data acquired by all the considered methods allowed to properly describe all the area of interest of the castle, being usable for the technical documentation of such historic building. The obtained model significantly advanced the state of knowledge about the castle in Lidzbark Warminski. As a result of the work, many traces of the history of the complex were discovered, proving its gradual evolution.

Purpose: The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the safety of unmanned transport in armed conflicts, with a particular focus on the Russo-Ukrainian war. Methodology: The authors employ a multidimensional comparative analysis of selected Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) used for reconnaissance, combat, and transport tasks. Various sources such as scientific literature, military reviews, historical facts, technical specifications, and illustrations support the arguments and compare different types of UAVs. Results: The authors confirm their research thesis that in current geopolitical conditions, UAVs will become one of the equipment elements of the armed forces of individual European countries. They highlight their diverse functionality, positive impact on safety, and technological progress. Theoretical Contribution: This paper contributes to the field of military technology by providing a comprehensive analysis of the role and impact of UAVs in modern warfare. It offers valuable insights into the evolving nature of conflict and the increasing reliance on unmanned technologies. Practical Implications: The findings of this research have significant practical implications. They suggest that the use of UAVs in future military technologies will become increasingly common, and their combat capabilities and electro-optical equipment will continue to improve. This underscores the need for ongoing research and development in this area to ensure these technologies' safe and effective use in the context of armed conflict.

46. Developmental changes in tibia and humerus of goose: morphometric, densitometric, and mechanical analysis

The skeletal system of young animals undergoes a series of intensive and rapid changes. In this study, we aimed to verify the hypothesis that geese exhibit a distinct pattern of bone growth compared to gallinaceous species. Specifically, we hypothesised that geese would experience an accelerated growth rate in the humerus bone, which can be attributed to the increased wing mobility facilitated by their rearing in free-range systems. This need for access to both ground and water environments contributes to the unique demands placed on their skeletal development. We focused on evaluating the mechanical properties and geometry of the humerus as the forelimb bone, and the tibia as the hindlimb bone. The 320 geese used in this study were divided into 12 groups according to sex (females and males) and age (0-,1-,3-,6-,8-,12-,14-week-old). To assess bone mechanical properties, a three-point bending test was performed, along with densitometry and morphological measurements. The tibiae of the geese showed the most intensive growth until 6 weeks of age and then stabilised. The wing bones (humerus) showed only slight changes in the first weeks after hatching, and then a rapid growth between the third and sixth week, both in terms of mechanical and morphological properties. This is most likely due to a change in the geese's living environment during this period, i.e., allowing them to leave their enclosures and enter open space, which gives them the opportunity to use their wings, resulting in the rapid growth of the wing bones to support increasing muscle mass in this area. This study increases our understanding of bone growth and development in domesticated birds, specifically waterfowl species, and highlights the importance of rearing methods on the proper bone development and functionality of the entire skeletal system, and thus, on their welfare.

IntroductionThe pharmacological target for progesterone, different progestins, and Selective Progesterone Receptor Modulators (SPRMs) is the nuclear progesterone receptor (PR). EC313 is a new member of a subgroup of SPRMs, mesoprogestins, which combine especially PR- agonistic and PR-antagonistic activities in one molecule.MethodsThe suitable in vivo-model for the differentiation of SPRMs from the subgroup of mesoprogestins is the estrogen-primed juvenile rabbit endometrium assay (McPhail Assay). Remarkably, in contrast to other well-known SPRMs with no agonistic effects in this test, EC313 shows clear partial PR-agonistic effects that are higher than that of the well-known mesoprogestin Asoprisnil which already demonstrated remarkable clinical effectiveness for the treatment of uterine fibroids and endometriosis. The findings from the guinea pig studies presented here can be the impetus for further preclinical development of EC313. This model shows the same features for the termination of pregnancy by antiprogestins such as Mifepristone and Ulipristal acetate (UPA) in humans. Moreover, it is possible to distinguish between progestational and anti-progestational activities in the same experiment. ResultsThe EC313 treatment reveals PR dominance in the genital tract and inhibits unopposed estrogenic effects. In very high doses (30.0 mg/animal/day subcutaneously (s.c.)) given twice on pregnancy days 43 and 44, no premature labor was induced (in contrast to UPA, dosed at 10.0 and 30. mg/animal/day s.c.). The anti-ovulatory activity of EC313 exceeds that of Ulipristal acetate or Mifepristone. EC313 binds to the steroid receptors in vitro with a similar affinity as the natural ligand progesterone. At the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) EC313 acts as a weak inhibitor. Minor activities at the human androgen receptor (AR) and mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) are considered negligible. No binding to the estradiol receptor was detected. In contrast to some in vitro-receptor findings, estrogenic, anti-estrogenic, androgenic, anti-androgenic, glucocorticoid, and anti-glucocorticoid actions were absent in vivo. The tissue selectivity of EC313 was demonstrated previously by reducing the growth and proliferation of uterine fibroids in animal models (lowest effective dosage 0.1 mg/kg/day s.c.).. As shown in this article, the anti-fibroid activity of EC313 was confirmed with a 10 times lower dosage (0.01 mg/kg/day s.c.). It was also shown that EC313 reduces the growth of endometriotic lesions in a human xenograft immune-deficient (NOD-SCID) mice model with a comparatively very low dosage range. In the aforementioned EC313 activity model, UPA was tested as the reference compound, the clinical effectiveness of which has already been demonstrated. DiscussionFor an explanation of these findings, the possibility is discussed that the mixed agonistic/antagonistic feature of EC313 is tissue target-specific based on its super-additive synergism characteristic for active bifunctional agents. In conclusion, the specific pharmacodynamic profile of this compound opens the possibility for the development of a drug with a distinct pharmaco-endocrinological profile against uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and other PR-dependent gynecological diseases.

Abstract Acrylamide (ACR) is a toxic compound commonly found in fried, baked and heat-processed starchy foods. The current study investigated the time-dependent effects of maternal exposure to non-toxic ACR doses on the oxidative stress, liver function, and basal blood morphology of the rat offspring. Pregnant, Wistar rats were randomly divided into the control group or the groups administrated with ACR (3 mg/kg b.w./day): long exposure for 15 days, medium exposure for 10 days and short exposure for 5 days during pregnancy. Body mass, blood morphology and hematology, serum concentrations of growth hormone, IGF-1, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and insulin, liver histomorphometry, liver activity of beclin1, LC2B and caspase3, markers of oxidative stress and the activity of antioxidative enzymes in blood serum and the liver were measured in offspring at weaning (postnatal day 21). Even short prenatal exposure to ACR led to oxidative stress and resulted in changes in liver histomorphometry and upregulation of autophagy/apoptosis. However, the most significant changes were observed following the long period of ACR exposure. This study has shown for the first time that ACR is responsible for changes in body mass in a time-dependent manner, which could lead to more serious illnesses like overweight and diabetes later in life.

The datasets included in this article come from a survey carried out on a group of Polish students and self-employed entrepreneurs and were originally created for studies on tax behaviour under the slippery slope framework. The slippery slope framework explains the role of extensive power execution and building trust in the tax administration in enhancing either enforced or voluntary tax compliance accordingly [1]. Students of economics, finance, and management at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw were surveyed in two rounds, in 2011 and 2022, using paper-based questionnaires handed to them personally. Entrepreneurs were invited to fill in online questionnaires in 2020. Questionnaires were filled in by self-employed individuals from the Kuyavia-Pomerania, Lower Silesia, Lublin, and Silesia Province. The datasets provide 599 records for students and 422 observations for entrepreneurs. The purpose of collecting these data was to analyse the attitudes of the mentioned social groups towards tax compliance and tax evasion under the slippery slope framework along two dimensions: trust in authorities and power of authorities. The sample was selected because students in these fields are the most likely to become entrepreneurs, so the study sought to capture the potential behavioural change that is taking place. Each questionnaire consisted of three parts, a description of a fictitious country (Varosia) in one of four scenarios: (1) high trust-high power; (2) low trust-high power; (3) high trust-low power; (4) low trust-low power, 28 questions including manipulation checks on trust in authorities and power of authorities, intended tax compliance, voluntary tax compliance, enforced tax compliance, intended tax evasion, tax morale and the perceived similarity between Varosia and Poland, and finally two questions on gender and age of respondents. The data presented are particularly useful for policymakers in shaping tax policy and economists in analyses regarding taxation. Researchers may be interested in reusing the provided datasets for comparative research in other social groups, regions, and countries.

50. Forest Stand Growth Forecasting in the Context of Changes in the Insolation of Building Roofs

This article analyzed the long-term impact of tree growth on the decrease in sunlight of a planned photovoltaic installation. As trees grow, they can obstruct sunlight and reduce the amount of insolation reaching the PV panels, and knowledge about the degree of this reduction is crucial when assessing the long-term economic effects of the investment. Currently, when planning PV installation, the roof facing, latitude, topography, and neighboring buildings are taken into account. However, there is no tool to assess the impact of tree growth over time on changes in the level of sunlight on the roof surface. The authors propose a tool for performing such an assessment using geospatial analysis techniques. The data from airborne laser scanning (ALS) and unmanned aerial vehicles with laser scanning (ULS) were used to model trees in two epochs. The authors used two epochs of data to evaluate mathematical models of tree growth. The evaluated tree growth model was then used to predict forest stand growth over a 30-year period and to assess the change in sunlight due to the modeled growth. For the case study, two test sites have been taken into account. At site 1 and site 2, respectively, 25 and 12 points representing the centers of potential photovoltaic panels were designed, for which the annual sum of minutes during which the point remained exposed to sunlight was calculated. The results showed that the use of ALS and ULS provided valuable data for determining current and predicted shading of trees. Moreover, the presented studies showed that the changes in forest stand growth had a significant impact on decreasing the insolation of building construction. In the case of both test sites, the change in tree height after 30 years resulted in a reduction in the number of minutes of sunlight by more than 50%. The authors suggest that the developed technique should be incorporated into PV installation planning tools to ensure reliable prediction of the long-term profitability of designed PV installations.
