1. Prevalence of knowledge and awareness about Helicobacter pylori infection among urban population of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract: Introduction: This cross-sectional study investigates the prevalence of knowledge and awareness of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection among the urban population of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The study is motivated by the need to understand the specific demographic segments within the urban setting and their awareness levels of this prevalent bacterial infection affecting the digestive system. Methodology: The cross-sectional study, employing a purposive sampling method and involving 840 participants from major cities in the KSA, utilized a structured survey questionnaire to gather data on demographic factors, awareness levels, attitudes, and experiences related to H. pylori infection, with subsequent statistical analysis and adherence to ethical guidelines for participant confidentiality and privacy protection. Result: The study involved 840 participants from major cities, revealing that 59.16 % were aware of H. pylori. Demographic variations included higher participation from Jeddah and Riyadh, with the majority being females aged 18–25, Saudi nationals, and individuals with undergraduate education. About 57.02 % reported experiencing suspected H. pylori symptoms, and 49.16 % had prior infections, with varying severity. Hesitancy toward screening (42.61 %), but 72.97 % believed in preventability. Limited awareness of treatments (15.35 %) and identification of factors like water and food were noted. Participants perceived the seriousness of H. pylori in the mid-range (5–7). Conclusion: The findings shed light on variations in awareness, knowledge gaps, and attitudes, emphasizing the need for targeted public health interventions, educational campaigns, and policy measures to address the challenges associated with H. pylori infections in urban areas.

Abstract: ABSTRACT: Introduction: Orthobiologics, such as mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), known for their multipotency, are key players in stem cell therapy. One of the ways MSCs realize their therapeutic potential is through the release of extracellular vesicles (EVs), small lipid-membrane–bound structures that carry bioactive materials from their progenitor cells. Objectives: This review aims to provide an overview of EVs in and from the synovial joint in both physiological and pathological context specifically in osteoarthritis. Methods: This narrative review synthesizes findings from PubMed using keywords—orthobiologics, EVs, synovial joint EVs, osteoarthritis, and synovial fluid. This review focuses on the potential of EVs isolated from different sources of MSCs found in the synovial joint, evaluating their differentiation capacity and contributions to joint health and osteoarthritis. Results: EVs from various MSC types show promising results for osteochondral regeneration. However, the differentiation potential and therapeutic efficacy vary among cell types. Understanding the dynamic nature of the biological function of these cell types that serve as sources of EVs is essential for predicting their therapeutic actions. The synovium itself is identified as a significant source of EVs, which may offer unique applications for treating osteoarthritis and cartilage defects. Conclusions: EVs and exosomes play a critical role in cartilage and osteochondral defect repair. They exhibit preservative and restorative benefits for tissue injuries, highlighting their potential in treating osteoarthritis and cartilage defects. Additionally, the synovium, as a source of EVs and exosomes, presents unique therapeutic applications as orthobiologic.

Abstract: Hexaferrites are in high demand due to their unique properties, such as absorbing harmful electromagnetic radiation, which is a result of the development of wireless technology and electronic and electrical gadgets. In meantime, U-type hexaferrites whose chemical formula is Ba4Me2Fe36O60, one of the least explored hexaferrite types getting attention from researchers, and getting explored as a micro-absorbing material and magnetic material due to their complex crystalline structure and increased intrinsic magneto crystallographic anisotropy for wider range of frequency. Several synthesis methods, such as solid-state, sol-gel, chemical co-precipitation, and high-energy milling, are analyzed in this review study, along with their annealing/sintering temperatures and times, for forming several forms of U-type hexaferrite. Additionally, this review paper's emphasized discussion topics include crystal structure, characterization methods, magnetic, microwave-absorbing, and electromagnetic properties. It looked at how substituting other elements could affect the structural, magnetic, and microwave absorption capabilities of U-type hexaferrite. In order to figure out microwave absorber devices spanning an extensive range of frequencies, most researchers have focused on the magnetic and microwave absorbing capabilities of U-type.

Abstract: Abstract Background The outbreak of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2) has caused worldwide panic in the global population taking people's lives, creating fear, and affecting mother–child relationships. Many questions were raised on the dangers of being infected with COVID-19 for newborns and safety concerns during feeding by COVID-19-positive mothers. Moreover, questions and doubts about the safety of the administration of vaccinations for nursing mothers are still open. This review attempts to fill the existing literature gap by exploring concepts concerning COVID-19 and breastfeeding mothers, the safety of vaccinations, the beneficial effects of breastfeeding on both mother and child, important hygiene recommendations for SARS-CoV-2 infected mothers, and possible solutions to optimize breastfeeding and safety precautions amidst the fear of emergence of novel variants. Methods All relevant publications from Google Scholar, PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus search engines from December 2019 to October 2022 related to SARS-CoV-2, breastfeeding, COVID-19, lactating guidelines, and vaccination were included using ‘Breastfeeding AND vaccine AND SARS-CoV-2’ as MESH TERMS. Apart from the literature review, existing maternity protocols followed in Northern UAE were gathered from lactation consultants practicing in the UAE. Results Out of 19,391 records generated, only 24 studies were analyzed and summarized in this exhaustive review using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) flow chart. Previous studies suggest that breastmilk is predominantly the primary source of nutrition for neonates. Breast milk is a rich source of antibodies that help the baby to fight against infections including other benefits. Hygiene recommendations for suspected or confirmed COVID-19-infected mothers are required along with psychological and emotional support. Conclusions The administration of vaccinations should be advised and encouraged to protect the mothers with antibodies and the neonates by the passive transmission of antibodies through breast milk. This is a significant reason for not stopping breastfeeding even in case of COVID-19 infection. With adherence to proper hygiene methods, breastfeeding is recommended to be continued as the benefits greatly outweigh the risks.

8. Globalization and Happiness Across World Countries

Abstract: Globalization encompasses interaction and interdependence among nations which may result in greater happiness through multiple channels such as socialization, access to global products, international peace and security attained through collaboration between governments, sustainable development through international organizations and much more. The current study investigates the impact of globalization on happiness by taking data of 80 countries across the world and covering the time period of all the seven waves of World Values Survey (1981-2022). Impact of economic, political and social dimensions of globalization on happiness are analyzed separately. In addition, GDP per capita, Inflation, Democracy, Human Capital, Life expectancy and Employment are additional regressors in the model. The uniqueness of this study lies in the fact that it is not only one of the few studies on the topic using longest span of panel data but also in furnishing regional analysis of globalization and happiness for Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America and Caribbean. Results of the fixed effects estimation support the evidence that globalization fosters happiness across the sample of world countries and social globalization has largest impact as compared to economic and political dimensions. Regional analysis confirms that globalization has robust impact on happiness of Asian and Latin American regions but insignificant impact on African and European regions. Besides globalization, GDP per capita and human capital are found to have a positive and significant impact on Happiness. The study recommends development of those strategies aimed at maximizing the positive impacts of globalization while mitigating its potential negative consequences on well-being.

Abstract: Typhoid fever is a serious concern precisely in developing nations. Still investigators are exploring a better conjugate partner for Vi-polysaccharide to develop a more effective vaccine for typhoid fever. Here, we cloned and expressed S. Typhi outer membrane protein A (OmpA). The conjugation of Vi-polysaccharide with OmpA was carried out by the carbodiimide (EDAC) method employing ADH as a linker. Total Ig and IgG generated against OmpA, and Vi polysaccharide was quantified by ELISA. Vi polysaccharide alone induced very low levels of Vi polysaccharide antibody. Vi-OmpA conjugate (Vi-conjugate) elicited a robust immune response compared to Vi polysaccharide alone and showed booster response. Further, IgG was only evoked by Vi-OmpA conjugate, not with Vi polysaccharide alone. OmpA antibody induction in both the Vi-OmpA conjugate and OmpA were similar level. Taken together, we show that OmpA as a carrier protein conjugated to Vi polysaccharide is immunogenic. We predict OmpA antibodies will contribute protection along with antibodies generated by Vi-polysaccharide. Past and current literature supports that OmpA is highly conserved protein not only among Salmonellae but entire Enterobacteriacea family with 96–100% identity.

11. Synthesis and characterization of cerium doped NiZn nano ferrites as substrate material for multi band MIMO antenna.

Abstract: In addressing issues related to electromagnetic interference, the demand for ferrite materials with exceptional magnetic and dielectric properties has escalated recently. In this research, sol-gel auto combustion technique prepared Nickel zinc ferrites substituted with cerium, denoted as Ni0.5Zn0.5Ce0.02Fe1.98O4.X-ray diffraction (XRD), Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM), and Field Emissions Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) were used to investigate the structure, magnetic properties, and morphology of Cerium doped NiZn Nano ferrites, respectively. The magnetic and dielectric properties of the sample was examined within a frequency range of 2.5-5.5 GHz. Sample exhibits low permittivity (2.2), high permeability (1.4), low dielectric (0.35) and magnetic loss tangent (-0.5) and highest saturation magnetization measuring 30.28 emu/g. A Novel Double-band, 4x4 MIMO window grill-modeled antennas operating on 3.5 GHz and 4.8 GHz frequency bands for 5G smartphones is designed using the CST microwave studio suite. The performance of window grilled 4x4 MIMO antenna model with Cerium doped NiZn nano ferrites as substrate, is investigated and found the return loss of -35 and -32 dB, with the bandwidth of 200MHz, gain (1.89 & 4.38dBi), envelope correlation coefficient (0.00185), channel capacity loss (0.2bps/Hz), and interterminal isolation of (22& 19dB).The results show that the antenna size is reduced with improved bandwidth, higher isolation and better diversity gain performance using Cerium doped NiZn nano ferrite substrate compared to conventional dielectric substrates.

Abstract: Ovarian cancer is the second most fatal gynecological cancer. For the last decade or so significant use of non-circulating and circulating biomarkers has been highlighted. However, the study of such biomarkers at nanovesicle technology such as exosomes, proteomic and genomics studies could further contribute to better identification of anomalous protein and networks which could act as potential targets for biomarker and immunotherapy development. This review provides an overview of the circulating and non-circulating biomarkers with the aim of addressing the current challenges and potential biomarkers that could lead to early ovarian cancer diagnosis and better management. By means of this review we also lay a hypothesis that characterization of exosomal protein, nucleic acid content from body fluids (serum, plasma, urine, etc.) can decode the secret of disease and potentially improve diagnostic sensitivity which could further lead to more effective screening and early detection of the disease.

Abstract: Inflammation is a complex response to tissue damage and pathogens that can lead to chronic inflammatory disorders and various health complications. Conventional inflammation treatments have limitations, driving the search for alternative approaches. Probiotics have gained attention for their immunomodulatory properties, while paraprobiotics have emerged as a promising anti-inflammatory strategy. Probiotics like Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Saccharomyces, and Bacillus can interact with immune cells through toll-like receptors, triggering the synthesis of anti-inflammatory cytokines and promoting immune cell differentiation. Studies carried out in vivo revealed that TNF- α, TRL4, and NF-κB were downregulated by Lactobacilli species. In contrast, Bifidobacterium species elevated IL-10 and Foxp3. This helps maintain immune balance and reduce hyperinflammatory responses. Probiotic plant-based fermented products also suppressed NF-κB signalling activation and decreased iNOS and COX-2 synthesis. Paraprobiotics, on the other hand, exhibit anti-inflammatory properties and have shown promising results in regulating immune responses and alleviating symptoms in specific inflammatory conditions. They may address concerns related to the viability and safety of live probiotics. This review emphasizes the potential of probiotics, probiotic plant-based fermented products, and paraprobiotics as therapeutic agents for managing inflammatory disorders arising from malnutrition, gut diseases, cardiovascular disease, and neurological disorders. It discusses in-vitro, in-vivo, and human studies highlighting the role of different probiotic strains, commercially available probiotics, challenges with probiotics, probiotic plant-based fermented products, and paraprobiotics in combating inflammation.

14. Influence of silica fume and Bacillus subtilis combination on concrete made with recycled concrete aggregate: Experimental investigation, economic analysis, and machine learning modeling

Abstract: Influence of Bacillus Subtilis (B. Subtilis) bacteria on the strength characteristics of 100% recycled concrete aggregate (RCA), incorporating silica fume (SF) as a substitution of cement, has been investigated in this study. Two groups of mixes (A for w/c=0.3 and B for w/c=0.35) were prepared using two different cement contents in each (400 and 450 kg/m3). The cement was partially substituted by weight with 5%, 7.5%, and 10% SF, with a constant concentration of bacterial culture (105 cfu/ml). All specimens were tested after a curing period of 7, 28, and 90days. The best results were observed by replacing cement with 7.5% SF via all mixes, with the best mix being A/2. At 90 days, the compressive strength (CS) of concrete in mix A/2 increased from 29.62 to 33.64 MPa for 5% SF, from 29.62 to 37.3 MPa for 7.5% SF and from 29.62 to 34.04 MPa for 10% SF with the addition of B. Subtilis bacteria. Similarly, for splitting tensile strength (STS) at 90days, the strength increased from 2.73 to 3.24 MPa for 5% SF, from 2.73 to 3.35 MPa for 7.5% SF, from 2.73 to 3.26 MPa for 10% SF. Calcite precipitation upon addition of B. Subtilis bacteria is considered the reason for the improved CS and STS of concrete, and SEM and EDS analysis confirmed this. Thereby, the formation of new C-S-H products and CaCO3 crystals in voids made the concrete denser. Incorporation of B. subtilis led to a 12 ± 1.5% increase in CaCO3 formation in concrete’s mortar after 7days of curing compared to specimens without bacteria. Moreover, the effect of atomic Ca/Si and Al + Fe)/Ca ratios was studied, and the results showed that the highest CS and STS were associated with the values Ca/Si = 0.17 and Al + Fe)/C = 2.95. Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that according to the Indian specifications (IS-10262–2009), based on the strength of the concrete, the findings of this work fulfill the requirements of lean, ordinary grade, and standard grade concrete. An economic study of all mixes has also been carried out. Additionally, using response surface methodology, a regression equation was developed to accurately predict the CS and STS and validate the data in this experimental work with a minimum range of error.

Abstract: Pb1−4.75xNd0.5xNi4xZrO3 (where x = 0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04 and 0.05) nanocrystals were synthesized through the micro-emulsion, a wet chemical route. The prepared samples were annealed at 700°C for 3 h. Nanocrystalline samples were characterized by various techniques like XRD (X-rays diffraction), FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), SEM (Scanning electron microscopy), dielectric properties, and dc-electrical resistivity. XRD analysis of synthesized nanocrystals confirmed the phase development of orthorhombic perovskite structure. The average measured size of nanocrystals was about 21 nm. Some other parameters like densities (bulk and X-rays) and porosity of the nanomaterials were also calculated from obtained XRD data. The obtained results showed the effect of dopant materials (Nd3+ and Ni2+ metal ions) incorporation. The FTIR spectra elucidated the intrinsic cations vibrations in the characteristic perovskite orthorhombic structure. The SEM results revealed that nano-grains were synthesized successfully and their average observed size was 60 nm. It was observed that with the addition of dopant material, the dielectric parameters like dielectric constant, loss factor, and conductivity were showed an overall decreasing trend. The average calculated value of the ac conductivity at the frequency of 3 GHz was observed as 1.45 × 10−2 (Ω-cm)−1. By using the current–voltage (I–V) characteristics, the dc-electrical resistivity was calculated in the range between 2.68 × 1010 and 4.82 × 1010 Ω-cm. The dc-electrical resistivity was increased with the increase of doping contents.

Abstract: Abstract Objective To report on the outcomes of urological cancer patients undergoing radical surgery between March–September 2020 (compared with 2019) in the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) in Milan and the South East London Cancer Alliance (SELCA). Materials and Methods Since March 2020, both institutions implemented a COVID‐19 minimal ‘green’ pathway, whereby patients were required to isolate for 14 days prior to admission and report a negative COVID‐19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test within 3 days of surgery. COVID‐19 positive patients had surgery deferred until a negative swab. Surgical outcomes assessed were: American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA) grade; surgery time; theatre time; intensive care unit (ICU) stay >24 h; pneumonia; length of stay (LOS); re‐admission. Postoperative COVID‐19 infection rates and associated mortality were also recorded. Results At IEO, uro‐oncological surgery increased by 4%, as compared with the same period in 2019 (n = 515 vs. 534). The main increase was observed for renal (16%, n = 98 vs. 114), bladder (24%, n = 45 vs. 56) and testicular (27%, n = 26 vs. 33). Patient demographics were all comparable between 2019 and 2020. Only one bladder cancer patient developed COVID‐19, reporting mild/moderate disease. There was no COVID‐19 associated mortality. In the SELCA cohort, uro‐oncological surgery declined by 23% (n = 403 vs. 312) compared with the previous year. The biggest decrease was seen for prostate (−42%, n = 156 vs. 91), penile (−100%, n = 4 vs. 0) and testicular cancers (−46%, n = 35 vs. 24). Various patient demographic characteristics were notably different when comparing 2020 versus 2019. This likely reflects the clinical decision of deferring COVID‐19 vulnerable patients. One patient developed COVID‐19, with no COVID‐19 related mortality. Conclusion The COVID‐19 minimal ‘green’ pathways that were put in place have shown to be safe for uro‐oncological patients requiring radical surgery. There were limited complications, almost no peri‐operative COVID‐19 infection and no COVID‐19‐related mortality in either cohort.

22. Synergistic Effect of Combined Antibiotic and Methanolic Extracts of Withania somnifera and Catharanthus roseus against MDR Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhi

Abstract: Typhoid has become the most neglected and majorly affecting disease of tropical and subtropical countries, including India, and is among the most important global health problems, as the emergence of multidrug resistance has shut down the effect of antimicrobial agents and makes it difficult to control the bacteria inside the host. Hence, there is a great need to develop some natural-based drugs, which will be new promising natural therapeutic interventions with high efficacy and lesser side effects in comparison to synthetic drugs already available for typhoid treatment. The present study completely focused on the synergistic effect of bioactive constituents of medicinal plants in combination to synthetic drugs for enhancing the bacterial eradication mechanism. The methanolic extracts of 25 medicinal plants were screened for their antisalmonella effect and out of which only 2 plants were studied further on the basis of their high effectiveness against 17 MDR isolates using well diffusion assay and MIC/MBC determination. The synergistic activity was assessed with two nonantibiotics (ibuprofen and paracetamol) and 3 antibiotics (ceftazidime chloramphenicol, and trimethoprim) using methods of growth inhibitory indices (GIIs) and fractional inhibitory concentration index (FICI). The highly effective methanolic extracts were of W. somnifera and C. roseus, and the synergism was obtained in terms of GIIs and FICI values of 0.9 and 0.3 and 0.9 and 0.5, respectively, fulfilling the criteria for both extracts, respectively. The results for combinations of plant extracts and antibiotics ceftazidime, trimethoprim, and chloramphenicol and nonantibiotics (analgesic drugs) ibuprofen and paracetamol showed good synergistic activity (100%, 88%, 50%, 45%, and 35%, respectively) against the MDR isolates of S. Typhi. The present study also suggests that in the future, combined treatment with the antibiotics and the bioactive compounds can enhance the immune system to perform better action against the external pathogens as well as in the treatment of internal pathogens, and the combinations will be the successful immune modulators.

Abstract: In this article, structural, mechanical, optical and electronic properties of MAX phase ternary Mo2Ga2C, Mo2GaC and Mo3GaC2 carbides are reported. Theoretical calculations are performed by applying OLCAO method within the density functional theory. All three carbides fulfill the structural stability criteria mechanically. The calculated formation energies of all three ternary carbides indicate the structural stability of these carbides. The Mo2GaC and Mo3GaC2 carbides are found less resistant to thermal shock as compared to Mo2Ga2C carbide. Band structure plots reveal conducting behavior of Mo2Ga2C, Mo2GaC and Mo3GaC2 carbides. DOS spectra of Mo2Ga2C, Mo2GaC and Mo3GaC2 carbides show an increasing number of energy states at Fermi level. The calculations of localization index reveal highly delocalized energy states near Fermi level, EF. Effective charge (Q∗) calculations reveal that the Mo atoms have charge losing trend in these carbides. Bond order (BO) calculations show dominant role of covalent nature of Mo–C bonds in the stability and cohesion of all three carbides. Optical behavior of carbides shows anisotropic characteristics up to energy ≤9.0 eV. Above 9.0 eV, carbides exhibit isotropic behavior. Theoretical results suggest that these carbides can of interest for electronic and optical applications.

Abstract: Summary: Background: Early death after cancer surgery is higher in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs) compared with in high-income countries, yet the impact of facility characteristics on early postoperative outcomes is unknown. The aim of this study was to examine the association between hospital infrastructure, resource availability, and processes on early outcomes after cancer surgery worldwide. Methods: A multimethods analysis was performed as part of the GlobalSurg 3 study—a multicentre, international, prospective cohort study of patients who had surgery for breast, colorectal, or gastric cancer. The primary outcomes were 30-day mortality and 30-day major complication rates. Potentially beneficial hospital facilities were identified by variable selection to select those associated with 30-day mortality. Adjusted outcomes were determined using generalised estimating equations to account for patient characteristics and country-income group, with population stratification by hospital. Findings: Between April 1, 2018, and April 23, 2019, facility-level data were collected for 9685 patients across 238 hospitals in 66 countries (91 hospitals in 20 high-income countries; 57 hospitals in 19 upper-middle-income countries; and 90 hospitals in 27 low-income to lower-middle-income countries). The availability of five hospital facilities was inversely associated with mortality: ultrasound, CT scanner, critical care unit, opioid analgesia, and oncologist. Abstract: Abstract The outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in early 2020, known as COVID-19, spread to more than 200 countries and negatively affected the global economic output. Financial activities were primarily depressed, and investors were reluctant to start new financial investments while ongoing projects further declined due to the global lockdown to curb the disease. This study analyzes the money supply reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic using a cross-sectional panel of 115 countries. The study used robust least square regression and innovation accounting techniques to get sound parameter estimates. The results show that COVID-19 infected cases are the main contributing factor that obstructs financial activities and decrease money supply. In contrast, an increasing number of recovered cases and COVID-19 testing capabilities gave investors confidence to increase stock trade across countries. The overall forecast trend shows that COVID-19 infected cases and recovered cases followed the U-shaped trend, while COVID-19 critical cases and reported deaths showed a decreasing trend. Finally, the money supply and testing capacity show a positive trend over a period. The study concludes that financial development can be expanded by increasing the testing capacity and functional labs to identify suspected coronavirus cases globally.

32. Comprehensive study of structural, physical, and spectroscopic properties of Co-Ni substituted BaMg2Fe16O27 W-type hexaferrites

Abstract: Cobalt and nickel substituted BaMg2Fe16O27 W-type hexaferrite nanoparticles were synthesized via citric acid-assisted sol–gel auto-combustion technique. XRD results revealed the single-phase W-type hexagonal structure of these nanomaterials. The decrease in lattice parameters and unit cell volume is accredited to smaller ionic radii of substituted ions as compared to that of host ions. The variations in Raman spectra as a function of substitution content (x, y) are ascribed to the induction of strain in the unit cell. The PL spectra of synthesized samples revealed all emissions invisible (red) regions with PL intensity near 661 nm. Furthermore, the semiconducting nature of synthesized materials has been assessed based on bandgap energy Eg = 1.875 eV. FTIR investigations endorsed the successful settlement of substituents at tetrahedral and octahedral sites. SEM images exhibit non-homogenous hexagonal platelet-shaped particles. The research outcomes suggest the promising applications of synthesized compounds with suitable cationic substitution for microwave devices.

33. Determination of the Physicochemical Quality of Groundwater and its Potential Health Risk for Drinking in Oromia, Ethiopia

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the physicochemical quality of groundwater and its potential health risk for drinking in Oromia, Ethiopia. The groundwater samples were collected from 17 sampling stations in the dry and wet season in the Sebeta zone, Oromia, from March to August 2020. Metals and physicochemical parameters, and selected heavy metals, such as iron (Fe), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), chromium (Cr), zinc (Zn), and lead (Pb) were monitored. The data were analyzed using multivariate statistical methods (Pearson’s Correlation and T-test). The means seasonal variations were higher in the dry season than in the wet season except for pH and Turbidity. The variation was significant for most parameters except Pb, Zn, chlorine, Total Alkaline, Magnesium Hardness, Calcium Hardness ), and Turbidity. There was a strong and positive correlation between Total dissolved solids (TDS) and Conductivity), (pH and Cr), (T.H. and Magnesium (Mg)), (bicarbonate and Calcium (Ca), (Zn and Turbidity) in the dry season; and (T.H. with Potassium (K), (Pb and Fe); (bicarbonate and T.H.); (Ca and Mg); (Na and T.A.,) in the wet season. The hazard index (H.I.) values in the dry season (HI = 1.331) were higher than in the wet season (HI adults = 0.075). Likewise, the H.I. (dry season) was higher (HI children = 1.861) than in the wet season (HI children = 0.105). Chronic groundwater exposure at drinking sources in the dry season is a potential health risk to humans in general and is relatively high for children. Urgent management and close monitoring are required for drinking groundwater sources and other nearby residents’ safety areas.

Abstract: Women empowerment has its significance for the economic and social development of countries; specifically, women empowerment is rendered important for child health. Child health being part of sustainable development goals (2030) can be traced through reduced infant and child mortality rates. Owing to the importance of women empowerment for the infant mortality, the present study is an attempt to analyze the impact of women empowerment on infant mortality in Pakistan, utilizing the data from Demographic and Health Survey (DHS-VI) of United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The sample consists of 24,201 individuals. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) has been employed to measure the women empowerment using education level, employment status, asset holdings and decision-making power. Besides women empowerment, other socioeconomic, demographic and biological variables have been included as regressors. Logit model has been employed for the estimation of the determinants of the infant mortality. The results show that women empowerment significantly reduces the infant mortality. The study recommends that policy makers ought to introduce broad socioeconomic interventions aiming at the wellbeing of both women and their infants.

Globally, nearly nine million children pass away every year with preventable and treatable conditions. IMNCI program is provided by the health facilities to aid children under five years of age from illness. This study is aimed at assessing the implementation of the IMNCI program in public health centers of Soro District, Hadiya Zone, Southern Ethiopia.Methods: The implementation of the IMNCI program was studied using a facility-based cross-sectional study design integrating both qualitative and quantitative data collected from 9 public health centers in Soro district, Hadiya Zone, Southern Ethiopia. A total of 390 (92%) caregivers were included in the study by the proportion of under-five outpatient coverage from each public health center. Data were collected through face to face interviewer-administered questionnaires, document review checklist, observation checklist, and in-depth interview guide.Results: Based on agreed criteria resources’ availability was 80.11% and judged as fair. Less than 50% of health centers (HCs) had cotrimoxazole and gentamycin. The compliance of health workers was 85.5% and judged as good. Below 85% of prescribed drugs were given correctly for the classified disease. Counseling on medication and follow updates were given for less than 80% of caretakers. The overall satisfaction of clients on IMNCI was 79.5% according to the judging criteria. The caretakers who took less than 30 minutes to reach the health center on foot (AOR=7.7, 95% CI [3.787– 15.593]), caretakers who waited for less than 30 minutes to see the health care provider (AOR=2, 95% CI [1.00– 3.77]), the caretakers who found prescribed drugs in HCs pharmacy (AOR = 3.7,95% CI [1.91– 7.34]), the caretakers who have less than four family size (AOR=2, 95% [1.109– 4.061]) were more satisfied in IMNCI services, whereas, caregivers who measured the weight of child were negatively associated with satisfaction (AOR= 0.24, 95% CI [0.13– 0.45]).Conclusion: This study found that the overall implementation of the Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses was good. All health centers had trained health workers, ORS, paracetamol, vitamin A, chart booklet, and IMNCI guidelines were available; however, cotrimoxazole, gentamycin, ampicillin, and mebendazole were less abundant drugs in health centers. Abstract: In this work, nanocrystalline NiDyxFe2-xO4 ferrites (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1) were synthesized via co-precipitation route. The impact of Dy+3 substitution on the various properties has been investigated. Structural, electrical, spectral and magnetic parameters were measured by XRD (X-ray diffraction), I–V (current-voltage), FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy) and VSM (vibrating sample magnetometer) respectively. Morphological analysis was done by FE-SEM (Field emission scanning electron microscope). The formation of a single-phase FCC cubic spinel structure was confirmed by XRD patterns. With the help of XRD data, bond lengths and ionic radii were also calculated. FTIR spectra showed the formation of two typical frequency bands (υ1 and υ2) which represent metal-oxygen (M–O) vibrations at octahedral (B) and tetrahedral (A) sites. EDX spectrographs confirmed elemental composition. The MH curves demonstrated a decrease in saturation magnetization (Ms) and Bohr magneton (nB). The coercivity (Hc) showed a non –linear behaviour while anisotropy constant first increased and then decreased with Dy-substitution. NiDy0.025Fe1.975O4 showed maximum coercivity (102.06 Oe).

Abstract: Novel Zn0.90Co0.10O and Zn0.90Co0.05M0.05O (M = Ca, Ba, Cr, Pb) nanocrystals were synthesized by co-precipitation method and studied its structural, optical and electrical properties along with their photocatalytic activity. The XRD confirmed that Ca, Ba, Cr, and Pb have been incorporated without modifying ZnO hexagonal wurtzite structure. The microstructural parameters were calculated using Scherrer, W–H, and SSP methods. FTIR confirmed the existence of Zn–O vibrational modes. UV–vis spectra used to calculate the energy bandgap by using Tauc’s plot, Energy equation, Vegard’s law, and Derivative method. Optical parameters such as Urbach energy, refractive index, dielectric constant, extinction coefficient and optical conductivity were also studied. The IV measurements demonstrated that electrical conductivity was increased significantly by co-doping. The photocatalytic activity for the decolorization of methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dyes under sunlight revealed the highest degradation efficiency for co-doped nanocrystals against MB as compared to MO in 100 min illumination. The grown nanocrystals are propitious sunlight driven photocatalyst to eradicate organic toxins.

Abstract: Domestic animals play a vital role in the development of human civilization. Plants are utilized as remedies for a variety of domestic animals, in addition to humans. The tribes of North Waziristan are extremely familiar with the therapeutic potential of medicinal plants as ethnoveterinary medicines. The present study was carried out during 2018–2019 to record ethnoveterinary knowledge of the local plants that are being used by the tribal communities of North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. In all, 56 medicinal plant species belonging to 42 families were identified, which were reported to treat 45 different animal diseases. These included 32 herbs, 12 shrubs, and 12 trees. Among the plant families, Asteraceae contributed the most species (5 spp.), followed by Amaranthaceae (4 spp.), Solanaceae (4 species), and Alliaceae, Araceae, and Lamiaceae (2 spp. each). The most common ethnoveterinary applications were documented for the treatment of blood in urine, bone injury, colic, indigestion, postpartum retention, skin diseases, constipation, increased milk production, mastitis, foot, and mouth diseases.

Abstract: Musculoskeletal disorders include rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, sarcopenia, injury, stiffness, and bone loss. The prevalence of these conditions is frequent among elderly populations with significant mobility and mortality rates. This may lead to extreme discomfort and detrimental effect on the patient’s health and socioeconomic situation. Muscles, ligaments, tendons, and soft tissue are vital for body function and movement. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are regulatory proteases involved in synthesizing, degrading, and remodeling extracellular matrix (ECM) components. By modulating ECM reconstruction, cellular migration, and differentiation, MMPs preserve myofiber integrity and homeostasis. In this review, the role of MMPs in skeletal muscle function, muscle injury and repair, skeletal muscle inflammation, and muscular dystrophy and future approaches for MMP-based therapies in musculoskeletal disorders are discussed at the cellular and molecule level.

Abstract: LiNiCo spinel ferrites were prepared, by doping with rare earth metals Nd and Pr, according to micro-emulsion method. In order to study the effect of Nd and Pr, the crystal structure and magnetic properties of prepared ferrites were scrutinized in detail. The endorsement of single-phase spinel ferrites with the co-occurrence of orthophase was confirmed by XRD and FTIR. The average crystallite size varied with increasing the doped concentration of Nd and Pr, which is in the range from 28 nm to 70 nm. Magnetic properties were analyzed by VSM within range of −10,000 Oe and 10,000 Oe. MS and MR values decreased with the increase in concentration. The value of HC, MR, and MS showed stability for transformer core where electromagnetic interference is reduced. Hence synthesized ferrites LiNi0.35−yCo0.15PryNdxFe2−xO4 are suitable for transformers and induction. 50. Computational investigation of the impact of potential AT2R polymorphism on small molecule binding

Abstract: For more than a century, the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) has been acknowledged for playing a crucial part in the physiological control of arterial pressure, as well as sodium and fluid balance. It is now generally acknowledged that one of the receptor of RAS system i.e. angiotensin type 2 receptor (AT2R) functions as a repair system during pathophysiologic circumstances and performs a significant protective role. Efforts have been made previously to design suitable agonist and antagonist molecules to potentially modulate AT2R. One of the agonists and antagonists, named C21 and EMA401, has been studied in a number of pathological conditions. Additionally, a wide panel of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) has been reported for AT2R, which might potentially affect the efficacy of these molecules. Therefore, computational investigations have been carried out to analyze all the SNPs (1151) reported in NCBI to find potential SNPs affecting the active site of AT2R, as this domain is still unexplored. Structures of these polymorphic forms were modeled, and in silico drug interaction studies with C21 and EMA401 were carried out. The two mutants (rs868939201 and rs1042852794) that significantly affect the binding affinity as that of the wild type were subjected to molecular dynamics simulations. Our analysis of native and mutant AT2R and their complexes with C21 and EMA401 indicated that the occurrence of these mutations affects the conformation of the protein and has affected the binding of these ligand molecules. The study’s findings will aid in the development of better, more versatile medications in the near future, and also in vitro and in vivo studies might be planned in accordance with recent findings.
