Abstract Background Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (PET)–computed tomography (CT) is preferred for pretreatment staging and treatment planning in patients with lymphoma. This study aims to train and validate the neural networks (NN) for predicting lymphoma types using low-dose CT radiomics. Results Few radiomics features were stable in intraclass correlation coefficient and coefficient of variation analysis (n = 119). High collinear ones with variance inflation factor were eliminated (n = 56). Twenty-four features were selected with the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression for network training. NN had 75.76% predictive accuracy in the validation set and has 0.73 (95% CI 0.55–0.91) area under the curve (AUC) to differentiate Hodgkin lymphoma from non-Hodgkin lymphoma. NN which was used to differentiate B-cell lymphoma from T-cell lymphoma had 78.79% predictive accuracy and has 0.81 (95% CI 0.63–0.99) AUC. Conclusions In this study, in which we used low-dose CT images of PET–CT scans, predictions of the neural network were near acceptable lower bound for Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma discrimination, and B-cell and T-cell lymphoma differentiation.

Aim: The purpose of this study is to investigate prevalance of coronary artery anomalies and variants in a cardiac risk group by using coronary computed tomography (CT) angiography. Materials and Methods: Coronary CT angiography scans were retrieved for 527 consecutive adult patients (265 male, 262 female) with a preliminary diagnosis or suspicion of coronary artery disease between 2021 and 2023. Coronary artery anomalies and vascular variants were retrospectively reviewed. Results: The study revealed that 85.97% had right dominant coronary circulation, 22.39% had myocardial bridging, and 9.3% having a ramus intermedius artery. Among the identified coronary anomalies, anomalies of origination and course were the leading causes (3.6 %), except for hypoplasia, which had a prevalence of 6.07 %. Overall, no significant relationships were found between gender or coronary artery disease and the frequency of coronary artery anomalies. Conclusion: Coronary artery anomalies and variants, which are mostly asymptomatic, represent a broad spectrum of entities that can be accurately diagnosed by coronary CT angiography. PURPOSE: In this case-control study, we aimed to evaluate how muscle volume affects pelvic floor function by analyzing the levator ani muscle (LAM) using volumetric segmentation in addition to standard magnetic resonance (MR) defecography assessments. METHODS: We enrolled 85 patients with varying degrees of pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) and 85 age- and gender-matched controls in this retrospective study. All patients had MR defecography images, while all controls had pelvic MR images obtained for other reasons. Group comparisons were performed using independent samples t-tests and Mann–Whitney U tests. The receiver operating curve (ROC) was constructed to establish a cut-off value for a normal LAM volume. Interrater reliability was assessed by calculating the intraclass correlation coefficient. A P value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: Volumetric measurements revealed that the control group had higher LAM volumes, and the ROC curve analysis indicated a cut-off value of 38934.3 mm3 with a sensitivity of 0.812 and specificity of 0.8 for PFD assessment using LAM volumetric measurement. Gender did not significantly affect LAM volume in the control group. CONCLUSION: Alongside the useful structural and functional information acquired from MR defecography images, volumetric analysis, and three-dimensional reconstructions of LAM may help to improve the accuracy of the diagnosis.

Abstract Purpose To investigate the potential of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐based total and segmental hippocampus volume analysis in the assessment of cognitive status in Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods We divided participants into three groups Group A‐Parkinson patients (Pp) with normal cognitive status (n = 25), Group B‐Pp with dementia (n = 17), and Group C‐healthy controls (n = 37). Three‐dimensional T1W Fast Spoiled Gradient Recalled Echo images were used for Volbrain hippocampus subfield segmentation. We used the “Winterburn” protocol, which divides the hippocampus into five segments, Cornu Ammonis (CA),CA2/CA3, CA4/dentate gyrus, stratum radiatum, lacunosum, and moleculare, and subiculum. Results A total of 79 participants were included in the study, consisting of 42 individuals with PD (64.2% male) and 37 healthy controls (54.1% male). The mean age of PD was 60.9 ± 10.7 years and the mean age of control group was 59.27 ± 12.3 years. Significant differences were found in total hippocampal volumes between Group A and B (p = .047. Statistically significant group differences were found in total, right, and left CA1 volumes (analysis of variance [ANOVA]: F(2,76) = 8.098, p = .001; F(2,76) = 7.628, p = .001; F(2,76) = 5.084, p = .008, respectively), as well as in total subiculum volumes (ANOVA: F(2,76) = 4.368, p = .016). Post hoc tests showed that total subiculum volume was significantly lower in individuals with normal cognitive status (0.474 ± 0.116 cm3) compared to healthy controls (0.578 ± 0.151 cm3, p = .013). Conclusion Volumetric hippocampal MRI can be used to assess the cognitive status of Pp. Longitudinal studies that evaluate Pp who progress from normal cognition to dementia are required to establish a causal relationship.

Intrauterine devices (IUDs), a form of long-acting reversible fertility control, are often preferred for preventing pregnancy. The Lippes loops, made of plastic, are inserted into the uterus via the cervix, fitting into the uterine cavity. The non-medicated (inert) structure of the loop allows for long-term IUD use. Uterine perforation and translocation of the IUD are the most threatening complications. In this case report, we present an asymptomatic 79-year-old woman with a forgotten IUD that migrated into the abdominal cavity and was discovered during her follow-up for lung cancer.

Background: Renal parenchymal changes are seen in chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, and its disease diagnosis should be confirmed by renal biopsy, which is an invasive technique. Apparent-T1 mapping magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an established imaging technique that assesses subclinical tissue injury without using a contrast agent. Aims: To investigate the early stage subclinical renal changes without apparent renal dysfunction in patients with chronic HBV infection by renal apparent-T1 mapping MRI. Study Design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: This study included 45 participants with normal kidney function, wherein 25 have biopsy-proven chronic HBV hepatitis and 20 are healthy individuals. Liver and kidney biochemical tests were performed within 1 month before the MRI scan, and the estimated glomerular filtration rate was calculated by diet modification in renal disease formula. Breath-hold, electrocardiogram-gated Modified Look-Locker Imaging sequence was acquired in the coronal plane without contrast agent administration. Apparent-T1 mapping value was measured by manually drawing a region of interest in six points for both kidneys by two observers. Apparent-T1 mapping values were compared between the two groups. Results: The mean apparent-T1 mapping values of the kidneys were significantly higher in patients with chronic HBV infection compared to the control group (1445 ± 129 ms vs. 1306 ± 115 ms, P = 0.003). Inter-class correlation coefficient measurement analysis showed excellent agreement. Conclusion: Renal apparent-T1 mapping MRI may help show the early stage of renal parenchymal disease without apparent renal dysfunction in chronic HBV infection.

Background. Internal carotid artery dissection (ICAD) is a rare but potentially devastating complication after trauma in the pediatric age group. The diagnosis of traumatic dissection is difficult and is usually recognized only when ischemic symptoms appear. We report a pediatric patient with ICAD due to blunt cerebrovascular injury (BCVI). Case. A 14-year-old boy suffered major trauma due to a motor vehicle accident. When the first aid team reached the accident site, he was intubated because of his low Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) and then transported to the nearest emergency department. Cranial computed tomography (CT) showed multiple fractures at the skull base and independent bone fragments in both carotid canals. On the 6th day; a brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed to detect diffuse axonal injury. There was a loss of signal in the left internal carotid artery (LICA) tract but the limitation of diffusion was not associated with the same side, conversely there was a limitation of diffusion on the other side, affecting a very large area. CT angiography was performed in order to detect a filling defect and showed dissection in the LICA. The patient did not have any specific neurological symptoms associated with ICAD. Low-dose aspirin was utilized as anticoagulant therapy. On the 25th day of admission, the patient`s GCS was 14, neurologic examination showed no difference between the right and left sides. He was discharged on the 55th day of the accident and was walking without support. Conclusion. Our patient was a rare case in pediatrics due to having a clinically silent form of ICAD. It is very difficult to diagnose ICAD dissection during the early phase in cases with BCVI accompanied by multiple trauma. Even in the absence of typical neurological deficit, the possible presence of ICAD should be explored in patients with cranial fractures encompassing the skull base.
