Acrylic bone cement, which primarily consists of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), is widely used in orthopaedics, dentistry, and particularly in joint arthroplasty surgery. However, bone cements (BCs) have several limitations, including low mechanical properties, bioactivity issues, and high heat generation during polymerization. In recent years, there has been significant interest in studying the development of mechanical, thermal, and antibacterial properties of bone cement. In this study, ZnO nanostructures modified CFs were added to PMMA BCs at concentrations ranging from 0.10 wt% to 1.00 wt%, and the mechanical and thermal properties of the novel PMMA composite BCs were investigated. The novel composite materials were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Mechanical tests including compression and 4-point bending were performed on the composite structures, along with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results revealed that the composite cement containing 0.25 wt% ZnO/CFs reinforcement agent exhibited the best mechanical properties and thermal stability. The flexural strength of the 0.25 wt% ZnO/CFs reinforced PMMA composite BCs increased by 78.9%, while the compression strength increased by 277.4% compared to the control group.

Disiplinler arası bir yaklaşıma sahip olan nanobilim ve nanoteknoloji son yıllarda modern dünyayı etkili bir şekilde dönüştürüp, biçimlendirmeye başlamıştır. Teoride birbirine uzak temellere dayanan bilim alanlarının temsilcileri nanobilim çatısı altında bir araya gelerek yenilikçi, çevreci ve hayatı kolaylaştıran teknolojiler geliştirmektedir. Bu gün bu teknolojik ürünler akıllı malzemeler olarak anılır. Yeni nesil nanokompozitler de eşsiz özelliklerinden dolayı akıllı malzeme olarak kabul edilmektedir. Bu çalışmada metal oksitler ile modifiye edilmiş karbon türevlerinden nanokompozitler sentezlenmiş ve bu yapıların yüzey analiz karakterizasyonları, taramalı elektron mikroskobu(SEM), Raman spektroskopisi (RAMAN) ve X-ışını difraktometrisi(XRD) ile yapılmıştır. Kimyasal buhar biriktirme(CVD) yöntemi ile iki boyutlu (2D) Grafen film (GF)'ler bakır (Cu) altlıklar üzerinde ve üç boyutlu(3D) grafen köpük(GK)'ler Nikel köpük(Ni-Foam) üzerinde biriktirilerek sentezlenmiştir. GF ve GK yapılar temiz İndiyum ince oksit(ITO) cam altlıklara transfer edilerek yüzeylerinde hidrotermal yöntem ile çinko oksit(ZnO) nanoteller büyütülmüştür. Elde edilen kompozit yapılara aktif karbon(AK) veya grafen tozu(GT) dip daldırma yöntemi ile ekilerek sandviç tipi nanokompozitler oluşturulmuştur. Nanokompozit yapılarda yüzey karakterizasyonları yapılmıştır. Her yapıda en az bir karbon allatropu içeren nanokompozit yapılar XRD'de 2ϴ=26,8° ve Raman'da 1365cm-1, 1562 cm-1 ve 2658 cm-1 dalga boylarında karbon-karbon bağları için karakteristik olan pikleri vermiştir. SEM analizlerinde edinilen görseller de sandviç tipi naokompozit yapılar gözlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak; verilen yöntemler ile karbon türevlerinden nanokompozitler sentezlenmiştir. Today, these technological products are referred to as smart materials. New generation nanocomposites are also considered as smart materials due to their unique properties.In this study, nanocomposites from carbon derivatives modified with metal oxides were synthesized and surface analysis characterizations of these structures were done by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy (RAMAN) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). Two-dimensional (2D) Graphene film (GF) is synthesized on copper (Cu) substrates and three-dimensional (3D) graphene foam (GK) is synthesized on Nickel foam (Ni-Foam) by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. GF and GK structures were transferred to clean indium thin oxide (ITO) glass substrates and zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires were grown on their surfaces by hydrothermal method.Sandwich type nanocomposites were created by applying active carbon (AK) or graphene powder (GT) to the composite structures obtained by dip dipping. Nanocomposite structures containing at least one carbon allatropy in each structure gave peaks characteristic for carbon-carbon bonds in wavelengths of 2ϴ = 26.8 ° in XRD and 1365cm-1, 1562 cm-1 and 2658 cm-1 in Raman. Sandwich type naocomposite structures were observed in the visuals obtained in SEM analysis. As a result, nanocomposites from carbon derivatives were synthesized with the given methods. 119

Son yıllarda, başta sanayi alanında olmak üzere tıp, kimya, gıda ve diğer alanlarda da üretimde artış gözlenmiştir. Üretim artışı yan ürünler ve atık oluşumunu beraberinde getirmektedir. Gıda alanında meyve ve sebze kabukları uzun yıllar atık olarak kullanılmıştır. Ancak düzgün bir şekilde işlendikten sonra, kullanılabilir forma getirilen kabuklar gıda takviyesi olarak değerlendirilebilir. Nar (Punica granatum), antioksidan özelliğinden dolayı popülerliği artan meyvelerden olup, ayrıca bu meyvenin kabukları da narın yaklaşık %40'ını oluşturmaktadır. Yüksek antioksidan içeriğine sahip olan bu meyve; vücutta zararlı serbest radikallerin oluşumunu azaltarak, kanser başta olmak üzere birçok hastalığın olumsuz etkilerinin ortadan kaldırılmasına yardımcı olmaktadır. Ultrasonik Destekli Ekstraksiyon yöntemi ile doğaya zarar vermeden, su ve etanol çözgenleri ile nar kabuklarından antioksidan ekstresi elde edilebilir. Elde edilen antioksidan maddelerinin, ışık, ısı, pH ve benzeri etkenlerden korunabilmesi için Enkapsülasyon Teknolojisi'nden yararlanılabilir. Kitosan (Cs) kabuklu deniz canlılarından elde edilen, toksik olmayan, biyouyumlu ve biyobozunabilir bir polimerdir. Aljinat (Alg) ise deniz yosunlarından elde edilen ve kitosan ile kimyasal modifikasyona girerek daha üstün nanopartiküller üretilmesine yardımcı olan doğal bir polimerdir. Bu çalışmada ilk kez, Ultrasonik Destekli Ekstraksiyon yöntemi ile elde edilen antioksidanlar, Kitosan-Aljinat (Cs-Alg) nanopartikülleri içerisine enkapsüle edilmiştir. Bu kapsamda ilk olarak Sodyum Aljinat (Na-Alg) ve Cs polimerleri, Kalsiyum Klorür (CaCl2) ile çapraz bağlanması sağlanılarak biyopolimerik nanopartiküller (NPs) elde edilmiştir. Nanopartikül üretimi sırasında santrifüj hızının ve süresinin; partikül boyutu ve yapısına olan etkisini gözlemlemek için, farklı hız ve sürelerde örnekler hazırlanmıştır. Üretilen nanopartiküllere antioksidan madde yüklemeden önce ve yükledikten sonra, Taramalı Elektron Mikroskopu (SEM) ve Fourier Dönüşümlü Kızılötesi Spektroskopisi (FTIR) ile karakterizasyonları tamamlanmıştır. Folin-Ciocalteu yöntemiyle toplam fenolik madde miktarı ve DPPH yöntemiyle de antioksidan aktivite analizleri yapılmıştır. Etanol (%100), Saf Su (%100) ve Etanol:Saf Su (%50:50) çözgenleri ile nar kabuklarının Ultraviyole Görünür Spektroskopisi (UV-Vis) ölçümleri alınarak farklı çözgen oranlarının ekstraksiyona etkisini incelenmiştir. In recent years, there has been an increase in production in some fields, such as medicine, chemistry, food and others, especially in industry. The increase in production also brings about by-products and wastes. In the field of food, fruit and vegetable shells have been used as waste for many years. However, after properly processed, the shells formed into usable form can be considered as food supplements. Pomegranate (Punica granatum) is one of the fruits whose popularity has increased due to its antioxidant properties, and also, the peels of this fruit constitute about 40% of the pomegranate. Not only this fruit has high antioxidant content, but also, by reducing the formation of harmful free radicals in the body, it helps to eliminate the negative effects of many diseases, especially cancer. Antioxidant extract can be obtained from pomegranate peels prepared in water and ethanol solvents with the help of Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction method without damaging the nature. Encapsulation Technology can be used to protect the antioxidants obtained from light, heat, pH and similar factors. Chitosan (Cs) is a non-toxic, biocompatible and biodegradable polymer obtained from shellfish. Alginate (Alg) is a natural polymer obtained from Marine Algae and helps to produce superior nanoparticles by chemical modification with chitosan. In this study, antioxidants obtained by Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction method were encapsulated into Chitosan-Alginate (Cs-Alg) nanoparticles for the first time. In this context, biopolymeric nanoparticles (NPs) were obtained by first cross-linking Sodium Alginate (Na-Alg) and Cs polymers with Calcium Chloride (CaCl2). During the production of nanoparticles, in order to observe its effect on particle size and structure, samples were prepared at different speeds and durations. Before and after loading antioxidant material to the nanoparticles produced, their characterizations were completed by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Total phenolic content was determined by Folin-Ciocalteu method and antioxidant activity analysis was performed by DPPH method.
