The problems of intelligent control system organization are considered: determining the number of intellectualization levels, the sequence of actions required for analysis of the control process, adding to the control system new elements providing for enhancement degree of its intellectualization, special features of its structural organization, estimating the possibilities of intellectualization, providing examples of practical intellectualization. The primary purpose of the study is to determine the purposeful organization of intelligent control systems as well as the necessity and usefulness of systemic consideration that takes into consideration the following: requirements of the problem statement, characteristics of the environment, means for acquiring and processing necessary information, working control mechanisms, functional characteristics and experience of user-operator. As a result of the analysis performed, characteristic levels of the intellectual development of a system were determined, the stages of performing intellectualization of a control system were proposed, and the effectiveness of proposed solutions for practical problems was shown.

The Kırklareli Reservoir, located in the Meriç-Ergene River Basin, is an important drinking/industrial freshwater resource of the Kırklareli Province. In order to ensure the sustainable use of this important reservoir, its current situation should be examined periodically and evaluated by multivariate analyses. For this reason, water samples were taken between the dates April 2018 and February 2019 at monthly intervals from 3 different stations. The data on the environmental and physicochemical variables (water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, salinity, conductivity, total dissolved solids, chlorophyll-a, light permeability, fluoride, chloride, NO2-N, NO3-N, PO4, SO4 and essential/potentially toxic elements) were measured and evaluated according to the classes of surface water quality control regulation of Turkey. The parameters exceeding first-class water quality values (chlorophyll-a, pH, NO2-N, chloride, selenium) were mapped in GIS using the spline integration approach. In addition, the sodium absorbtion ratio, Kelly index values and magnesium ratio, were calculated to evaluate the water quality for agricultural irrigation water standards. The water quality of the reservoir was evaluated using multivariance analyses (Bray–Curtis similarity index, correspondence analyses, Pearson correlation index). As a result, it was emphasized that the use of the GIS approach is a potential useful method for monitoring the sustainable water quality of the Kırklareli Reservoir, which was determined to have an oligomesotrophic character.

In this paper, the forecasting problem of share prices at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) was considered and investigated. For its solution the alternative methods of computational intelligence were suggested and investigated: LSTM networks, GRU, simple recurrent neural networks (RNN) and Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH). The experimental investigations of intelligent methods for the problem of CISCO share prices were carried out and the efficiency of forecasting methods was estimated and compared. It was established that method GMDH had the best forecasting accuracy compared to other methods in the problem of share prices forecasting.

A public dataset, with a variety of properties suitable for sentiment analysis [1], event prediction, trend detection and other text mining applications, is needed in order to be able to successfully perform analysis studies. The vast majority of data on social media is text-based and it is not possible to directly apply machine learning processes into these raw data, since several different processes are required to prepare the data before the implementation of the algorithms. For example, different misspellings of same word enlarge the word vector space unnecessarily, thereby it leads to reduce the success of the algorithm and increase the computational power requirement. This paper presents an improved Turkish dataset with an effective spelling correction algorithm based on Hadoop [2]. The collected data is recorded on the Hadoop Distributed File System and the text based data is processed by MapReduce programming model. This method is suitable for the storage and processing of large sized text based social media data. In this study, movie reviews have been automatically recorded with Apache ManifoldCF (MCF) [3] and data clusters have been created. Various methods compared such as Levenshtein and Fuzzy String Matching have been proposed to create a public dataset from collected data. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm, which can be used as an open source dataset in sentiment analysis studies, have been performed successfully to the detection and correction of spelling errors.

This study aims to explore graduate science education students’ views of elementary science teachers’ TPACK competencies by employing a Delphi technique. 9 graduate science education students enrolled in a graduate course participated in the study. In the first round, participants were asked to list the competencies of an elementary science teacher with high level of TPACK and a total of 88 competencies were listed. In the second round, all participants investigated these competencies and eliminated the similar ones. In the third round, the number of competencies was narrowed down to 35 and participants rated them on a 7-point Likert type scale. In the fourth round, participants investigated the interquartile range and median values for those competencies, their own previous ratings and rated the competencies again. At the end, a total of 29 competencies were agreed on by all participants. For agreement criteria interquartile range and median values were used.

Objective: To compare the frequency of adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes associated with delta (B.1.617.2) and other variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)., Study Design: An observational study. Place and Duration of the Study: Bursa City Hospital, Bursa, Turkey, from March 2020 to February 2022., Methodology: The study included 423 pregnant women diagnosed with COVID-19 based on real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing. The patients were divided into the delta variant (n=135) and other variants (n=288) (alpha, beta, gamma) groups, and maternal and perinatal outcomes were compared between the groups. Data including symptoms, laboratory findings, radiological findings, hospital and intensive care unit (ICU) stay, delivery outcomes, and mortality rates were recorded., Results: The delta variant group demonstrated higher rates of moderate and severe pneumonia than the other variant group (p=0.005). According to the World Health Organization (WHO) classification, 49.6% and 18.5% of patients experienced moderate and severe disease, respectively in the delta variant group, compared to 38.5% and 10.1%, respectively in the other variant group (p=0.001). A total of 20.0% of the patients in the delta variant group and 8.3% of the patients in the other variant group required ICU stay. The length of ICU stay was significantly longer in the delta variant group (p=0.001)., Conclusion: The rates of maternal morbidity and mortality increased in the pregnant population with low rates of vaccination in the period of the fourth wave which was associated with the delta variant. Objective: This descriptive study was conducted to determine knowledge and attitudes of university students on organ donation descriptive study., Material-Methods: The population of the study was composed of 1800 universty students. A data collection form measuring the students' socio-demographic characteristics and knowledge and attitudes on organ donation/transplantation was used. The data were collected by the researchers using a face-to-face interview technique. In the evaluation of data, descriptive statistics and chi-square analysis and Logistic Regression Analysis were used., Results: It was determined only 38.6% of the students wanted to donate their organs, and 10.7% did not want to donate their organs due to their religious beliefs. The students who had relatives waiting for organ donation, knew someone who had organ transplantation and heard about organ donation in the family wanted to donate their organs at a statistically significant level. It was determined that the students who were religious, studying in the faculty of theology, and thinking that organ donation is a sin, did not want to donate organs at a statistically significant level. It was determined that among these independent factors, organ donation rate increased by 0.410 with talking about organ donation in the family and by 0.613 with knowing someone waiting for organ transplant while thinking that organ donation is a sin decreased organ donation by 1.5 times., Conclusions: The students avoided organ donation because of their religious beliefs and lack of knowledge on this subject., (Copyright © 2022 Elsevier B.V. Objective: To evaluate immunohistochemical (IHC) staining of decorin and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) of ovarian and endometrial tissues in patients with and without endometriosis.  Study Design: Descriptive study., Place and Duration of Study: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, ZeynepKamil Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey, between Istanbul, TurkeyJanuary 2018 and June 2019., Methodology: Thirty patients, who underwent total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) + bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO)/unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (USO) and were in the proliferative phase of menstrual cycle,were included. The study population consisted of 20 patients (patient group) with an endometriomaand the control group consisted of 10 patients who were operated for benign gynecological pathologies.The ovarian and endometrial tissue specimens were collected from the archives. IHC staining was performed using decorin and VEGF., Results: Decorin analysis showed a significantly higher intensity of staining in both endometrial and ovarian tissues in control group than patient group. Patients with endometriosis had a lower intensity of staining of decorin and a higher intensity of staining of VEGF compared to control group. There was a negative, statistically significant concordance between VEGF and decorin staining of endometrial tissues of both groups (concordance rate -0.560, p=0.001). Therewas a negative, statistically significant concordance between VEGF and decorin staining of ovarian tissues of both groups (concordance rate -0.564, p<0.001)., Conclusion: Angiogenesis plays a critical role in endometriosisand interaction between decorin and VEGF,which suggests that decorin may be a promising molecule for the treatment of endometriosis. Objective: To evaluate microstructure and vascularity of macula and optic disc in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography (OCTA)., Study Design: Descriptive study., Place and Duration of Study: Department of Ophthalmology and Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Health Sciences, Yüksek lhtisas Training and Research Hospital, Bursa, Turkey between January and June 2019., Methodology: Fifty-nine patients with PCOS and 35 healthy controls were enrolled in the study. Foveal avascular zone (FAZ), the capillary density assessed in the superficial capillary plexus (SCP) and deep capillary plexus (DCP) in the macula and was also measured in optic disc using the OCTA. The thicknesses of the retinal nerve fiber (RNFL), ganglion cell complex (GCC), and macula were measured by OCT., Results: The capillary density in the macula and optic disc region were not a significant difference between the PCOS patients and healthy controls.The parafoveal superior, inferior, and temporal quadrant thickness was significantly higher in the study group compared to control group (p=0.047, p=0.033,and p=0.033, respectively). In patients with PCOS, there were negative correlations between IR and inferior RNFL, total and superior GCC thickness (r=-0.29 p= 0.027, r=-0.27 p=0.050, r=-0.31 p=0.029, respectively)., Conclusion: Although no microvascular macular abnormalities were seen in PCOS patients, the parafoveal thickness significantly increased in all quadrants, except the nasal quadrant. In patients with PCOS, IR, dyslipidemia may affect the structural integrity of the retina. Further longitudinal follow-up studies are needed to determine whether PCOS has any effect on OCTA findings. Objective: To determine the predictive role of first trimester maternal serum ELABELA (ELA) levels in late-onset preeclampsia (PE)., Study Design: Comparative descriptive study., Place and Duration of Study: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital, Bursa, Turkey between January and September 2019., Methodology: A total of 600 pregnant women, whose maternal serum samples were collected through the first trimester screening test, were recruited. Twenty-three patients with late-onset PE group and 47 without PE group were included. All participants in whom maternal serum samples were collected between 11th and 14th weeks of pregnancy were followed until delivery., Results: Median ELA level was 654.53 [217.67-870.20] pg/mL in the PE group and 645.80 [367.25-1833.17] pg/mL in the control group, indicating no significant difference between the groups (p=0.408). There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of frequency of history of hypertension, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and acute fetal distress (AFD), (p=0.003, p=0.016, and p=0.005, respectively). Three patients had preterm delivery in the PE group which was non-significant, while seven patients had gestational diabetes mellitus in PE group that was significantly higher compared to controls (p<0.001)., Conclusion: Only ELA level in the first trimester of pregnancy may not be of much value in predicting late-onset PE. Objective: To investigate the efficacy of first-trimester thiol/disulfide homeostasis (t/dh), a new oxidative stress marker, in predicting preeclampsia., Study Design: Prospective cohort study., Place and Duration of Study: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Health Sciences, Zeynep Kamil Women and Children Diseases Training and Research Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Bursa Yüksek Ihtisas Training and Research Hospital, Bursa, Turkey, from March 2016 to February 2019., Methodology: In this multi-centre,serum samples of women with839 singleton pregnancies were collected between 11+0 to 13+6gestational weeks. A total of 215 singleton pregnant women were included in the study. The patient group consisted of 38 women, who were diagnosed with preeclampsia; while the control group consisted of 177 healthy pregnant women without any complication during pregnancy and after delivery. Totalthiol (TT) was estimated by the sum of existing thiol groups and reduced thiol groups (S-S and -SH). After the native thiols (-SH) and (TT) were determined, the disulfide (-SS) amounts, disulfide/total thiol percent ratios (-SS/-SH + -SS), disulfide/native thiol percent ratios (-SS/-SH), and native thiol/total thiol percent ratios (-SH/-SH + -SS) were calculated., Results: There were no statistically significant differences between the groups in terms of[(-SH), (TT), (-SS), (-SS/-SH), (-SS/-SH + -SS), and (-SH/-SH + -SS)] six t/dh variables(p>0.05).The first-trimester body mass index (BMI) was statistically different between the two groups (p<0.001). In the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, none of the concentrations of thiol levels and ratios was found to have a significant predictive value for preeclampsia. The BMI was a significant predictor for preeclampsia (area under curve: 0.749, p<0.001)., Conclusion: Maternal serum t/dh at 11+0 to 13+6 weeks of gestation does not predict preeclampsia and t/dh may be the consequence rather than a cause in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia. The main aim of our study is to evaluate whether the effect of smoking on the auditory system shows gender differences. Another aim is to evaluate whether smoking has any influence on the absorbance of sound. There were 236 volunteers including 90 nonsmokers (42 females and 48 males) and 146 smokers (72 females and 74 males) in the study. Smokers were grouped according to pack-years of smoking as 5 to 10 pack-years, 11 to 20 pack-years, and more than 20 pack-years. Pure tone audiometry and wideband tympanometry were performed in all individuals. Both female and male smokers who consume more than 20 pack-years had significantly higher hearing thresholds at 4 and 6 kHz and significantly lower sound energy absorbance rates at 4, 6, and 8 kHz. Moreover, female smokers with a consumption of 11 to 20 pack-years had significantly higher hearing thresholds at 6 kHz and significantly lower sound energy absorbance rates at 6 and 8 kHz. Smoking causes hearing loss at high frequencies in both females and males, especially in a dose-dependent manner affecting individuals with a consumption of more than 20 pack-years. The sound energy absorbance is significantly reduced at 4, 6, and 8 kHz. In addition, these effects may occur in women with even less exposure.

Objective: To investigate the effectiveness and success rate of Bakri balloon tamponade (BBT) for postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) in patients with placenta previa and placenta accreta spectrum (PAS)., Study Design: Descriptive study., Place and Duration of Study: Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Bursa Yüksek Ihtisas Education and Research Hospital, Bursa, Turkey, from June 2016 to June 2019., Methodology: Patients treated with BBT for severe PPH and uncontrollable bleeding due to treatment failure with uterotonic agents were retrospectively analysed. Exclusion criteria were age <18 years and >46 years, having multiple pregnancies, less amount of bleeding than indicated in the definition of PPH and requiring no BBT and those with hemodynamic instability before BBT requiring emergency postpartum hysterectomy, and having missing obstetric and laboratory data. The main outcome was the rate of surgical exploration and peripartum hysterectomy following the use of BBT as an adjunct treatment for refractory PPH. Secondary outcome was the need for blood transfusion. The BBT was considered to fail, if the bleeding from drainage catheter was continued and more than 100 mL during failure was 10 minutes. In case of BBT failure, C-section hysterectomy was performed., Results: Of the 128 patients, 14 (10.9%) had vaginal birth and 109 (85.2%) had Cesarean section delivery. Of patients with cesarean section delivery, 84 (65.6%) had multiple repeat cesarean deliveries and 22 (17.2%) were previous cesarean cases. Ninety-one patients (71.1%) had placental site abnormality. Twenty patients (15.6%) underwent hypogastric and uterine artery ligation. Eleven patients (8.7%) with persistent uterine bleeding and hemodynamic instability underwent hysterectomy. Success rate of BBT was found to be 91.3% in PPH. No mortality was observed., Conclusion: BBT is an effective tool for management of postpartum uterine atony and prevention of persistent PPH in patients with placenta previa and placenta accreta spectrum due to increased cesarean section and uterine surgeries in recent years. The aim of our study was to obtain wideband tympanometry (WBT) findings in Meniere's disease (MD). It also aimed to evaluate whether the data obtained have diagnostic significance. 21 patients who were followed-up for unilateral Meniere's Disease were evaluated. The ears with Meniere disease were grouped as the MD group and the opposite ears were grouped as the control group. WBT results were recorded as resonance frequency (RF) and frequency-specific absorbance values at 10 different frequencies in the 0.25-8.0 kHz range. Statistical analysis was performed with t test and receiver-operating characteristic analysis. Considering the WBT results, RF was significantly lower in the MD group compared to the control group ( p  < 0.001). Frequency-specific absorbance values at 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1 kHz were significantly lower in the MD group compared to the control group ( p  <  0.05). No significant difference was found at 1.5 kHz and above ( p  > 0.05). For the MD, the RF below 598 Hz was 85.7% sensitive and 76.2% specific, the absorbance at 0.25 kHz below 8% was 66.7% sensitive and 61.9% specific, the absorbance below 17% at 0.5 kHz was 71.4% sensitive and 62.1% specific, the absorbance below 36% at 0.75 kHz was 81% sensitive and 57.8% specific, and the absorbance below 46% at 1 kHz was 71.5% sensitive and 66.7% specific. When MD was compared with intact ears, it was observed that RF was lower, and absorbance decreased in low frequencies. These data is statistically significant, but the sensitivity level is not enough for diagnostic use. Purpose: Nowadays, the use of otoendoscopy is becoming increasingly popular in ear surgery. Data on endoscopic tympanoplasty are quite current but not yet sufficient. This study aims to present the anatomical and functional results of endoscopic butterfly inlay myringoplasty in large perforations., Methods: The graft success rates and audiological outcomes of 26 ears of 23 patients who underwent endoscopic cartilage inlay myringoplasty due to large perforation (more than two-thirds of the area of tympanic membrane) from March 2016 to August 2018 were evaluated., Results: The mean follow-up period was 13.3 ± 7.1 (6-32) months. Graft success rate was 96% (25/26 ears). The preoperative mean air-bone gap (ABG) was 21.4 dB and postoperative mean was 14.4 dB. Significant improvement was observed in postoperative air-bone gap values compared to preoperative period (p 0.005)., Conclusions: Endoscopic inlay butterfly myringoplasty is a safe surgical technique and has satisfactory anatomic and audiological outcomes in large tympanic perforations.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the presence and incidence of overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome in patients diagnosed with adenomyosis and to evaluate the impacts of urinary symptoms on the quality of life of the patients., Materials and Methods: A total of 108 individuals including 50 patients with adenomyosis and 58 controls who were admitted to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Bursa, Cekirge State Hospital and Derince Training and Research Hospital between April 2015 and December 2015 were included. The Urogenital Distress Inventory (UDI-6) and Incontinence Impact Questionnaire (IIQ-7) were used to evaluate symptoms., Results: Irritative urinary symptoms such as nocturia and frequency were seen more frequently in the adenomyosis group (p = 0.001 and p = 0.035). Overactive bladder symptoms were more common in the adenomyosis group (p = 0.0001)., Conclusion: Our study showed that symptoms of urinary tract symptoms are common in patients with adenomyosis, which adversely affect the quality of life., (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier B.V. This paper examines the potential for enhanced NAPL recovery from the subsurface through the combined application of hot water and cosolvent flushing. Batch experiments were conducted to determine the effect of temperature on fluid properties and the multiphase behavior of the ethanol-water-toluene system and to assess the impact of temperature on the capillary, Bond and total trapping numbers and on flooding stability. Column flooding experiments were also conducted to evaluate toluene NAPL recovery efficiency for different ethanol contents and flushing solution temperatures. The ethanol content considered ranged from 20 to 100% by mass, while the flushing solution temperatures were varied from 10 to 40°C. It is shown that small variations in the system temperature can strongly influence the solubilization, mobilization and stability of the multiphase system, but that the impact of temperature on the enhanced NAPL recovery is also dependent on the ethanol content of the flushing solution. The impact of hot water on NAPL recovery was most pronounced at intermediate ethanol contents (40-60% by mass) where the increase in system temperature led to enhanced NAPL solubilization as well as NAPL mobilization. This study demonstrates that coupling of hot water with in situ cosolvent flooding is a potentially effective remedial alternative that can optimize NAPL recovery while reducing the amount of chemicals injected into the subsurface., (Copyright © 2010 Elsevier B.V. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there is an association between communicating congenital hydroceles and testicular volume in children., Methods: Seventeen children with unilateral communicating congenital hydroceles who underwent hydrocelectomies were included in the study. Testicular volumes were measured before and after hydrocelectomy on both the affected and unaffected sides., Results: We found statistically significant differences in testicular volumes between the normal sides (mean +/- SD, 0.62 +/- 0.24 mL) and the sides with hydroceles (0.72 +/- 0.26 mL) before surgery (P < .001) and in testicular volumes of the sides with hydroceles before (0.72 +/- 0.26 mL) and after (0.60 +/- 0.19 mL) surgery (P < .001). There was no significant difference in testicular volumes before (0.62 +/- 0.24 mL) and after (0.62 +/- 0.21) surgery on the normal sides (P = .978). The mean decrease in volume of the testes with hydroceles after hydrocelectomy was approximately 15%., Conclusions: This study shows that there is an association between congenital communicating hydroceles and testicular volume in children. Clinicians should be aware that there is a decrease in testicular volume after hydrocelectomy so they do not misdiagnose this change as postoperative trauma or atrophy.

Background/purpose: Infestation of sites other than the liver and lungs by the parasite Echinococcusgranulosus is rarely encountered in clinical practice. The present study aims to determine the incidence of hydatid disease of uncommon localization in children and to document the clinical and radiologic findings, the types of the operations performed, and the postoperative course of the disease., Methods: A retrospective review of the demographical data as well as preoperative and postoperative clinical findings of children who underwent surgical treatment of hydatid disease was done., Results: Hydatid disease of uncommon localization was encountered in 15 (7%) of 207 children reviewed. The sites in which the cysts were located were as follows: spleen (n = 4, 1.9%), kidney (n = 4, 1.9%), retroperitoneum (n = 3, 1.4%), omentum (n = 2, 1%), anterior abdominal wall (n = 1, 0.5%), and anterior thigh (n = 1, 0.5%). Radiodiagnostic tools such as ultrasonography were used in all. Partial pericystectomy was the surgical procedure of choice in most cases. There was 1 recurrence in a patient with splenic disease, with no mortality., Conclusions: Pediatric hydatid disease can involve any body part. Radiologic imaging techniques are helpful in diagnosis. Surgery should aim to preserve as much tissue as possible while precautions to prevent recurrences are undertaken.
