Se presentan los resultados del análisis de muestras de ictioplancton recolectadas durante el crucero de biomasa desovante de anchoveta 1908-09 a bordo del BIC Humboldt y BIC Olaya, ejecutado del 26 de agosto al 25 de setiembre 2019, cubriendo el área desde Talara hasta bahía Independencia. Se determinó 27 especies de peces a nivel de larvas. Los huevos (715.360 huevos/m2) y larvas (111.100 larvas/m2) de anchoveta fueron los más abundantes y frecuentes con mayores desoves (huevos) localizados en la zona costera al norte de Malabrigo y en la zona oceánica entre Chimbote y Huacho, mientras que las larvas tuvieron importantes concentraciones dentro de la plataforma continental al norte de Malabrigo. Los huevos (35.680 huevos/m2) y larvas (3.220 larvas/m2) de vinciguerria también fueron importantes por sus densidades, distribuyéndose fuera de la plataforma continental. Otras especies que destacaron fueron los mictófidos y la familia Bathylagidae. ABSTRACT: Between August 26 and September 25, 2019, the Instituto del Mar del Perú (IMARPE) conducted the 1908-08 cruise for anchoveta spawning biomass, which covered the area from Talara to Independencia Bay, onboard the R/Vs Humboldt and Olaya. During the study period, we determined 27 species of fish at the larval stage. Eggs (715,360 eggs/m2) and larvae (111,100 larvae/m2) were the most abundant and frequent. For Engraulis ringens, the largest spawning (eggs) occurred north of Malabrigo, in the coastal zone, and the oceanic zone between Chimbote and Huacho, while the larvae had significant concentrations within the continental shelf north of Malabrigo. Vinciguerria lutetia was also important due to the densities of its eggs (35,680 eggs/m2) and larvae (3,220 larvae/m2, being distributed outside the continental shelf. Other species that stood out were the myctophids and the family Bathylagidae.

Este trabajo proporciona un procedimiento desarrollado y aplicado durante el proyecto KOSMOS‐Perú 2017 para evaluar el flujo y el material biológico (nadadores, pellets fecales) capturado, utilizando una trampa de sedimento automática fija, colocada en la columna de agua somera de un área del sistema de afloramiento del norte de la Corriente de Humboldt. La trampa de sedimento fue desplegada durante el periodo de verano austral, caracterizado por presentar la mayor productividad biológica y en particular, bajo las condiciones extremas del evento El Niño Costero 2017. Esta condición determinó la colecta de material de origen terrígeno en mayor proporción que durante un año no Niño. Además, el material capturado presentó alta heterogeneidad, lo cual dificultó el submuestreo representativo de la muestra bulk. Esto determinó la necesidad de desarrollar un procedimiento adecuado para manipular la muestra de la trampa de sedimento con respecto a los métodos de división, tamizado, remoción de los nadadores y los pellets fecales. Por otra parte, los errores relacionados a la precisión fueron documentados. Para ello, los esfuerzos para corregir el sesgo potencial o minimizar el problema usando esta tecnología son presentados. ABSTRACT: This work provides a procedure developed and applied during the KOSMOS‐Peru 2017 project to assess the flux and biological material (zooplankton, faecal pellets) caught using an automatic fixed sediment trap deployed at the upper ocean of a coastal area of the upwelling system of the North Humboldt Current. The sediment trap was deployed during the austral summer period, characterized by the highest biological productivity and in particular under the extreme conditions of the coastal El Niño event 2017. This condition determined the sampling of material with terrigenous origin in a higher proportion than during a non‐Niño year. In addition, the caught material presented a large heterogeneity, which difficult the representative sub‐sampling from the bulk sample. In this particular scenario, a suitable procedure how to sample the sediment trap with respect to the splitting, sieving, swimmers and faecal pellets removal methods was described. This determined the need to develop a suitable procedure for handling the sediment trap samples with respect to the splitting, sieving, swimmers and faecal pellets removing methods. Furthermore, the accuracy‐related issues were documented. For this approach the effort to correct for the potential bias or minimize the problem using this technology is presented.

Se recolectaron 144 muestras de zooplancton empleando red Hensen de 300 μm de abertura de malla, en arrastres verticales con el buque parado hasta 50 m de profundidad. Se determinaron 18 especies de eufáusidos pertenecientes a los géneros Euphausia, Nematoscelis, Nematobrachion, Nyctiphanes y Stylocheiron. Predominaron los estadios tempranos calyptopis y furcilias con frecuencias de 68% y 87%, respectivamente. Se determinaron 63 especies de ictioplancton distribuidas en 35 familias. La especie más abundante fue Engraulis ringens “anchoveta”, sus huevos y larvas oscilaron de 3 a 4.566 huevos/m2 y de 3 a 2.574 larvas/m2, distribuidos desde Talara hasta San Juan de Marcona. Los huevos y larvas de Vinciguerria lucetia fluctuaron de 3 a 4.212 huevos/m2 y de 3 a 1.512 larvas/ m2, reportados por fuera de la plataforma continental; los huevos se distribuyeron de Punta Sal a Pimentel, frente a Salaverry y de Huarmey a San Juan de Marcona, mientras que las larvas se encontraron de Punta Sal a Punta La Negra, de Pimentel a Salaverry, de Huarmey a bahía Independencia y frente a San Juan de Marcona, con densidades mayores a 500 larvas/100 m2 frente a Punta Sal, Talara y bahía Independencia. Por frecuencia, fueron importantes otras especies de la familia Myctophidae: Diogenichthys laternatus “pez linterna”, Lampanyctus parvicauda, Triphoturus oculeus y Myctophum nitidulum, registradas en 35%, 11%, 8% y 6% del total de muestras recolectadas. Los biovolúmenes de zooplancton oscilaron entre 0,001 y 5,72 mL/m3, con mediana de 0,62 mL/m3. Los valores menores a 0,26 mL/m3 fueron los más frecuentes (47%) y estuvieron distribuidos desde Paita hasta San Juan Marcona, principalmente sobre la plataforma continental. En particular, entre Punta La Negra y Salaverry se localizaron por fuera de la plataforma continental a 80 mn de la costa.

El análisis espacial y temporal de larvas de jurel Trachurus murphyi en el mar peruano entre los años 1966 y 2010 confirma su presencia constante durante todo el periodo estudiado. En general, en este periodo la abundancia de larvas de jurel T. murphyi muestra una tendencia ligeramente ascendente destacándose cambios en la distribución espacial y una alta variabilidad interanual, con cortos periodos de alta abundancia promedio, intercalados con periodos más prolongados y de baja abundancia. El promedio anual estimado varió entre 3 y 79 larvas/m². La distribución espacial presentó tres periodos importantes: uno con mayores densidades de larvas al sur de los 14°S, entre 1970 y 1979; cambió hacia el norte de esta latitud, entre 1980 y 1999; y otro de mayor densidad al sur de los 18°S, en el último periodo 2000 - 2010. Los centros de gravedad de la distribución de larvas presentaron tres periodos muy notorios: fueron más costeros hacia el sur de los 14°S, entre 1966 y1978; más oceánicos y al norte de los 14°S, entre 1979 y 1994; y con una posición intermedia entre 1995 - 2010. Se discute la relación entre la distribución de las larvas con las variables oceanográficas y la distribución de T. murphyi adultos y juveniles, además se destaca que el mar del Perú es un centro principal y permanente de actividad reproductiva de esta especie. The relationship of larvae density with oceanographic variables as well as with the distribution of adult and juvenile Jack mackerel T. murphyi are discussed, stressing the observation that there is a main center of permanent spawning activity of this species in Peruvian waters.

Expone el cuarto monitoreo realizado en las áreas seleccionadas, teniendo como resultado una ligera disminución de la temperatura, salinidad y oxígeno respecto a la evaluación realizada en mayo 1996. Published
