The medicinal value of cow milk is well defined in ancient Indian literature of Ayurveda and Charak Samhita. Cow milk contains protein, fats and carbohydrates as its constituents. The ancient literature did not reveal which constituent of the milk carries its biological activities. With the advent of glycoscience it was postulated that the carbohydrates present in milk, in the form of oligosaccharide are responsible for its medicinal values. The oligosaccharide content of the milk depends on various factors i.e., breed of the animal, their food and geographical fauna around them. The cow milk carries brain stimulating, immunostimulant and bone developing properties. Keeping the above facts in mind we have collected the Kankerej cow milk from Rajasthan for the study of its oligosaccharide constituents. The milk was collected in bulk and was processed by modified method of Kobata and Ginsburg for obtaining its oligosaccharide contents. Further, it was chromatographed and purified by different chromatographic techniques for isolating the oligosaccharides in its purest derivatized form. Further, the structure elucidation of the purified oligosaccharide/oligoglycoside was performed by chemical transformation, chemical degradation, spectroscopic techniques such as 1H, 13C, HSQC, TOCSY, COSY, HMBC NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The structure of the isolated compound was deduced as pentaglycoside (Kankaroside). The increased population has led to an increase in the demand for goods which results in rapid industrialization. Demands for goods are directly proportional to the number of industries. In turn, the increase in industrial set-ups has led to the increased production of industrial wastes. These industrial wastes cause major environmental havoc by polluting the water air and soil. In this paper we will discuss about the load of industrial waste and its effect on the Kanpur city by disposal of pollutants. As we know Kanpur city has nearly 800 industries. The city of the Kanpur in the north Indian state Uttar Pradesh is famed for its leather industry, meeting national and international demands for superior quality leather. The industry, which employes thousands and earns a lot of revenue however, has a notorious side to it. It is a source of hazardous Pollution that environmentalists say, is gradually killing the city. Each day, the tanneries pump out about 30 Crore litres of polluted water into adjucent, Ganges river. While city's water treatment unit has a capacity of treating 17 crore litres per day, Kanpur also generates 400 tones of solid waste water pollution through the discharge of industrial effluents is causing severe problems. The pollutants include As, Cr, Cd, Cu, Fe, Hg, Pb and Zn which are considered as toxicants. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency increases the vulnerability of erythrocytes to oxidative stress. Clinical presentations include acute hemolytic anemia, chronic hemolytic anaemia, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, and an absence of clinical symptoms. The present study on incidence of Glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase was carried out in population of Dehradun region. The study of glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase enzyme on the 300 cases was done with the help of commercially available kit for detecting erythrocyte glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase enzymes. Present study concludes that G6PD deficiency is prevalent in population of Dehradun, region, it is of mild type. Radiation-induced defects are studied in cubic rhodium metal, using the local probe technique ‘Time differential perturbed angular correlation’ (TDPAC) at liquid N 2 temperature. Isochronal annealing was done at 300, 1073 and 1473 K temperatures. The irradiated sample showed two quadrupole interaction frequencies at 1150 and 93 MHz. The low frequency disappeared at room-temperature annealing, which was assigned to In trapped at a vacancy, whereas the higher frequency remained up to high temperatures and was attributed to In trapped at Rh–C complexes in the Rh matrix. The paper deals with the morphotaxonomic study of 10 species of the lichen genus Catillaria s. lat. from India. Three species Catillaria nilgiriensis, Catillaria obscura and Catillaria versicolor are new to science. Certain taxa reported earlier under Catillaria from India have been excluded from the present study for the reasons given against each. Catillaria metaleptodes (Nyl.)
