The densities $\rho $ ρ of binary mixtures of 2-(dimethylamino)ethanol and 2-diethylaminoethanol with pyridine were measured over the entire concentration range at 293.15, 303.15 and 313.15 K. The values of excess molar volume, $V_m^E$ V m E , apparent molar volume, ${V_{\varphi ,DMAE}}$ V φ , DMAE and ${V_{\varphi ,DEAE}}$ V φ , DEAE ; partial molar volumes, ${\bar V_{m,1}}$ V ˉ m , 1 and ${\bar V_{m,2}}$ V ˉ m , 2 , excess partial molar volumes, $\bar V_{m,1}^E$ V ˉ m , 1 E and $\bar V_{m,2}^E$ V ˉ m , 2 E have been computed using the experimental observations. The partial molar volumes, $\bar V_{m,1}^o$ V ˉ m , 1 o and $\bar V_{m,2}^o$ V ˉ m , 2 o ; excess partial molar volumes, $\bar V_{m,1}^{oE}$ V ˉ m , 1 oE and $\bar V_{m,2}^{oE}$ V ˉ m , 2 oE at infinite dilution were also calculated. The acoustic nonlinearity parameter (B/A) of ternary liquid mixtures of heterocyclic compounds viz. pyridine and quinoline with phenol in benzene has been evaluated at 308.15, 318.15, and 328.15 K by three different methods viz. Tong-Dong method, Beyer's method, and Beyer's method using Tong-Dong coefficients. The molecular interactions in the liquid mixtures are explained on the basis of excess nonlinearity parameter ([(B/A).sup.E]). Sehgal's relations for calculating the molecular properties for pure liquids are extended to the ternary liquid mixtures. The pseudo-Gruneisen parameter Γ , effective Debye temperature θ D , acoustic nonlinearity parameter B / A , internal pressure P i n and isobaric thermal expansion coefficient α have been evaluated for binary liquid mixtures of formamide (FA) and N-methylformamide (NMF) with 2-chloroethanol (2Cl-OH) at 298.15 K, 308.15 K and 318.15 K, over the entire concentration range. The excess pseudo-Gruneisen parameter Γ E , excess effective Debye temperature θ D E , excess nonlinearity parameter (B / A) E , excess internal pressure P i n E and excess isobaric thermal expansion coefficient α E were also calculated. The calculated values are reasonably satisfactory with the experimental results on sound propagation data of liquid mixtures. These physicochemical parameters play an important role in understanding of the significance of anharmonic and nonlinear behaviour with regard to intermolecular interactions in the liquid mixtures. This work reports the volumetric properties of binary mixtures of 2-dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) and 2-diethylaminoethanol (DEAE) with dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) as a function of composition in the temperature range 298.15–318.15 K at atmospheric pressure. The excess molar volumes, apparent molar volumes, and excess partial molar volumes of both the components were determined in order to reflect several aggregation patterns present in the binary solvent system. The excess molar volumes show positive deviations from ideality. The excess partial molar volumes show complex dependence on composition and temperature. The density (ρ) and refractive indices (nD) of binary mixtures of formamide (FA) with dimethylethanolamine (DMEA) and diethylethanolamine (DEEA) have been recorded at different temperatures for the whole composition ranges. The experimental values of density data and refractive index are used to estimate the molar refraction (Rm), reduced molar free volume (Vm/Rm), molecular radii (r) and internal pressure (Pint). The deviations of refractive index (ΔnD), molar refractions (ΔRm), reduced molar free volumes Δ (Vm/Rm) and internal pressures (ΔPint) have been also calculated. The variations of these parameters with composition and temperature of the mixtures are discussed in terms of molecular interactions due to physical, chemical and structural effects between the unlike molecules. Relaxational and associative aspects of X…HO bond complexes in ternary liquid mixtures of aromatic halogen compounds, namely, chlorobenzene and bromobenzene with ethanol in benzene have been studied at 10 GHz frequency and a temperature range of 30-60°C using dielectric relaxation data. Due to the observed high values of distribution parameter, the relaxation mechanism has been further resolved in terms of two separate relaxation times. The dipole moment, association equilibrium constant and thermodynamic parameters associated with the complexes have also been determined. All the results indicate the occurrence of weak molecular interaction in both the systems. This is in agreement with the ultrasonic results on these systems, reported earlier by Kannappan and Palani.
