Two unusual cases of primary lymphocytic lymphosarcoma of the lung are presented. The first patient is a 5-year-old girl who showed a massive involvement of the entire right lung by tumour. She was treated by radiotherapy followed by cyclophosphamide and was alive and well one year later. The second patient was an adult man who presented clinically with a tumour of the chest wall. Necropsy revealed an extensive direct spread of pulmonary lymphosarcoma with infiltration of the chest wall but without metastatic dissemination or lymph node involvement. Neither primary lymphocytic lymphosarcoma of the lung in a girl of 5 years nor presentation of such a tumour as a chest wall mass in an adult seems to have been described previously. The records of fifty-five patients with secondary renal amyloidosis have been scrutinized in order to evaluate statistically the correlation of the various clinical features and biochemical alterations with the severity of histological lesions in this disease. An ‘amyloid factor’, calculated on the basis of the extent of glomerular amyloid deposition, was utilized for the grading of the latter. A significant correlation of the histological grading was observed with the duration of predisposing illness ( <0·02), alteration of total serum protein ( <0·001) and functional impairment as determined by the creatinine clearance test ( <0·002). There was, however, no significant correlation between the extent of glomerular lesions and clinical severity, the duration of oedema, the degree of proteinuria and the levels of blood urea, serum albumin and serum cholesterol. A case of nephrogenic adenoma of the urinary bladder has been reported. This tumour is essentially benign and probably arises as a result of metaplasia due to chronic urinary tract infection. The disease affects young males and is characterised by haematuria. Fulguration of the tumour is effective in controlling haematuria. A close watch and follow-up is essential to detect recurrence. A 25-year-old woman had a malignant ovarian tumor with two distinct tumor patterns: pseudomucinous cystadenocarcinoma and malignant giant cell tumor of bone. One area of the tumor had a lining of tall columnar epithelium with abundant mucin production; however, another area of the same tumor had a number of large multinucleated giant cells that resembled osteoclasts, intermingled with mononuclear stromal cells. There was no blending of the two tumor patterns. Mitoses were frequent in both areas. A probable histogenesis of the tumor from a malignant teratoma is suggested.
