This study aimed to explore the experiences, needs, and interests of queer people who are also neurodivergent, or live with a chronic illness or disability (i.e. IMMI: individuals with multi-minority identities) in Italy and the Netherlands. Five focus groups were conducted in Italy with 22 queer IMMI to identify their most relevant topics regarding and experiences with sex education. Building on the discussion topics of the focus groups, a survey in Italian and English was distributed via snowball sampling. The survey was created to explore the experiences related to sex education in the two countries. The final sample of respondents included 138 (97 Italian, 41 Dutch) queer IMMI. Results indicated that sex education received in both formal (e.g. school) and informal (e.g. family) contexts failed to include information that was sensitive and supportive of queer community's experiences. Participants reported the need to explore more topics addressing the specific needs of different identity intersections. Cross-cultural differences related to the experiences of Italian and Dutch participants were found. Overall, current sex education in Italy and the Netherlands is far from meeting the sexual health needs of queer people living with different intersections. Practical implications are discussed.

Background: Transgender and gender diverse (TGD) people embody social and health inequalities that disproportionately affect this community more than the cisgender population. Endometriosis is a chronic condition of the reproductive tract that affects 5-10% of cisgender women. A recent systematic review with meta-analysis uncovered a pooled prevalence of 25.14% among TGD individuals undergoing gender-affirming surgeries., Objective: This study aims to investigate the causes of the gap in prevalence of endometriosis between the TGD community and the cisgender population., Methods: A systematic review with a fit-for-framework analysis was conducted. Results were analysed according to the adjusted developmental framework for embodiment with an intersectional approach. Sources were categorised in multi-levels relating to the framework mechanisms of expression, shaping, interaction, and incorporation., Results: Four hundred twenty-three (423) studies published between 2001 and 2024 in English and Spanish were identified on the PubMed, Web of Science, Sociological abstracts, and PsycInfo databases. Thirty-two (32) peer-reviewed sources were selected., Discussion: The higher prevalence of endometriosis among TGD people compared to the cisgender population reflects a complex phenomenon whereby individual biomedical characteristics, and psychological and environmental factors interplay on multiple levels throughout one's lifespan. The prevalence gap is striking in a context where TGD people experience great barriers and delays to access healthcare, and endometriosis is typically understood as a "women's disease." TGD people express lifestyle and environmental factors correlated with endometriosis more often than cisgender women, such as history of trauma, low self-image, obesity. Endometriosis interacts with one's quality of life, and especially with gendered expectations related to menstruations, family planning and sexuality. This interference can result in biographical disruption and gender self-perception changes in both cisgender and TGD people. Exogenous testosterone use as gender-affirming therapy results in amenorrhea in 80% of cases. However, endometrium and follicular activities are still reported upon testosterone use suggesting endometriosis may be active. Purpose: Since 2014 in The Netherlands, sterilization is no longer required for legal gender affirmation. Access to fertility preservation (FP) options is indispensable to grant equal reproductive rights to this population. This study aims to map existing literature on barriers and enabling factors for trans masculine individuals to access FP in The Netherlands after 2014. Methods: A scoping review method was conducted, including a database and a hand search complemented with informal consultations. Literature between 2014 and 2021 was searched. Results: A total of 38 peer-reviewed articles and 22 complementary gray literature sources were retrieved. Thematic analysis identified seven common themes: biological, psychological, training, language, law and legislation, economic, and sociocultural. The themes were clustered as patient-, health care provider (HCP)- and environment-related. Conclusion: The Netherlands offers progressive legislation and accommodating insurance agreements that favor FP for trans masculine individuals. However, the current readiness of HCPs to provide adapted and tailored care is arguable, and the capacity to access appropriate health services for trans masculine individuals is largely nonexistent outside of highly specialized health institutions. The implementation of both formal and informal education training programs for HCPs on transgender and gender diverse health needs-as well as inclusive language use-could benefit this community at large.

Due to reasons of sustainability and conservation of resources, polyurethane (PU)-based systems with preferably neutral carbon footprints are in increased focus of research and development. The proper design and development of bio-based polyols are of particular interest since such polyols may have special property profiles that allow the novel products to enter new applications. Sophorolipids (SL) represent a bio-based toolbox for polyol building blocks to yield diverse chemical products. For a reasonable evaluation of the potential for PU chemistry, however, further investigations in terms of synthesis, derivatization, reproducibility, and reactivity towards isocyanates are required. It was demonstrated that SL can act as crosslinker or as plasticizer in PU systems depending on employed stoichiometry. ( ω -1)-hydroxyl fatty acids can be derived from SL and converted successively to polyester polyols and PU. Additionally, ( ω -1)-hydroxyl fatty acid azides can be prepared indirectly from SL and converted to A/B type PU by Curtius rearrangement.
