Abstract Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) is a new ablation method being rapidly adopted for treatment of atrial fibrillation, which shows advantages in safety and efficiency over radiofrequency and cryo-ablation. In this study, we used an in vivo swine model (10 healthy and 5 with chronic myocardial infarct) for ventricular PFA, collecting intracardiac electrograms, electro-anatomical maps, native T1-weighted and late gadolinium enhancement MRI, gross pathology, and histology. We used 1000–1500 V pulses, with 1–16 pulse trains to vary PFA dose. Lesions were assessed at 24 h, 7 days, and 6 weeks in healthy and at 48 h in infarcted ventricles. Comparisons of lesion sizes using a numerical model enabled us to determine lethal electric field thresholds for cardiac tissue and its dependence on the number of pulse trains. Similar thresholds were found in normal and infarcted hearts. Numerical modeling and temperature-sensitive MRI confirmed the nonthermal nature of PFA, with less than 2% of a lesion’s volume at the highest dose used being attributed to thermal damage. Longitudinal cardiac MRI and histology provide a comprehensive description of lesion maturation. Lesions shrink between 24 h and 7 days post-ablation and then remain stable out to 6 weeks post-ablation. Periprocedural electrograms analysis yields good correlation with lesion durability and size.

Abstract In the last three decades, ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) has become an evidence‐based safe and efficacious treatment for managing the most common cardiac arrhythmia. In 2007, the first joint expert consensus document was issued, guiding healthcare professionals involved in catheter or surgical AF ablation. Mounting research evidence and technological advances have resulted in a rapidly changing landscape in the field of catheter and surgical AF ablation, thus stressing the need for regularly updated versions of this partnership which were issued in 2012 and 2017. Seven years after the last consensus, an updated document was considered necessary to define a contemporary framework for selection and management of patients considered for or undergoing catheter or surgical AF ablation. This consensus is a joint effort from collaborating cardiac electrophysiology societies, namely the European Heart Rhythm Association, the Heart Rhythm Society, the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society, and the Latin American Heart Rhythm Society

Background: Catheter ablation atrial fibrillation (AF) is effective, but 20% to 40% of patients will require a repeat ablation. The role of more than 1 repeat ablation is not well known. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and incremental benefits of multiple repeat catheter ablations to treat AF in patients. Methods: We retrospectively included patients who underwent their first, second, third, and fourth AF ablation between 2004 and 2019. They were monitored with a 24-to-48-hour Holter every 3 months postablation the first year and every 6 to 12 months thereafter. Recurrence was defined as documented atrial arrhythmia >30 seconds. Outcomes are analyzed by Kaplan-Meier curves and compared by log rank test. Results: We included a total of 2,194 patients (64% with paroxysmal and 36% with nonparoxysmal AF). Mean age was 71 ± 10 years; 67% were male. After 1 ablation, freedom from AF was 52%. Among those 1,052 patients who had recurrences, 576 (55%) underwent a second ablation, 103 (10%) underwent a third procedure, and 20 (2%) underwent a fourth. Success rates for the second, third, and fourth ablation were 57%, 60%, and 40%, respectively, at 5-year follow-up. After the second ablation, freedom from AF in our entire cohort increased from 52% to 66%, with marginal changes after the third (67%) and fourth (67%) procedures. Conclusions: Although repeated ablations demonstrated significant benefits at the individual level, the success rate may drop off after a third. The overall success of the initial cohort was not significantly influenced by the success rates of multiple follow-up ablations.

Background: Endocardial catheter ablation for ventricular tachycardia (VT) may fail because of the inability to deliver transmural lesions. Ultra-low–temperature cryoablation (ULTC) uses near-critical nitrogen and can generate temperatures as low as –196 °C. We report a series of 18 patients who underwent ULTC at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), representing the largest single-centre experience to date. Methods: Eighteen patients with monomorphic drug-refractory VT underwent VT ablation with ULTC at our institution as part of the first-in-human CryoCure-VT trial (NCT04893317). After voltage map, the mapping catheter was replaced with the ULTC catheter, and lesions were applied over a fixed duration of time (60-180 seconds), followed by a 60-second thaw and another application at the original duration (freeze-thaw-freeze). Duration of ablation time was selected depending on the wall thickness of the left ventricle monitored with intracardiac echo to achieve tissue depths of 4.5 to 7.5 mm. Results: Baseline left ventricular ejection fraction was 32%, mean age 71 years, 94% were male. A total of 32 sustained VTs were induced in 16 of 18 patients. A total of 177 cryoablation lesions were delivered (9.8 lesions per patient). Of the 16 patients with inducible VT, 15 (94%) were rendered noninducible postablation, and 1 was inducible only for a nonclinical VT. Complications included 1 pericardial effusion that required drainage. From 18 patients, 16 (89%) were discharged within the first 24 hours postablation. Conclusions: ULTC is feasible and permits acute control of monomorphic VT during VT ablation procedures in drug-refractory patients. Résumé: Contexte: L’ablation endocardique par cathéter pour traiter la tachycardie ventriculaire (TV) peut être un échec, en raison de l’incapacité à créer des lésions transmurales. La cryoablation à ultra-basse température (ULTC, pour ultra-low-temperature cryoablation) réalisée au moyen d’azote près de son point critique liquide-vapeur peut produire des températures aussi basses que –196 °C. Nous faisons état d’une série de 18 patients ayant subi une ULTC au Centre universitaire de santé McGill (CUSM), ce qui représente la plus importante expérience menée dans un seul établissement jusqu’à ce jour. Méthodologie: Au total, 18 patients atteints de TV monomorphe pharmacorésistante ont subi une ablation de la TV par ULTC à notre établissement, dans le cadre du premier essai mené chez l’humain sur la guérison par cryothérapie de la TV (NCT04893317). Après l’obtention de la carte électrophysiologique, le cathéter de cartographie a été remplacé par le cathéter d’ULTC, qui a permis de créer des lésions par l’application de froid pendant une durée fixe (de 60 à 180 secondes), suivie d’une période de dégel de 60 secondes, puis d’une autre application de froid pendant la même durée que la première application (cycle gel-dégel-gel). La durée de l’ablation a été déterminée en fonction de l’épaisseur de la paroi du ventricule gauche surveillée par échocardiographie endocavitaire afin d’obtenir des profondeurs tissulaires de 4,5 à 7,5 mm. Résultats: La fraction d’éjection du ventricule gauche initiale était de 32 %, l’âge moyen des sujets était de 71 ans et 94 % d’entre eux étaient de sexe masculin. Au total, 32 TV soutenues ont été induites chez 16 patients sur 18. Dans l’ensemble, 177 lésions de cryoablation ont été créées (soit 9,8 lésions par patient). Après l’ablation, nous avons été incapables d’induire une TV chez 15 (94 %) des 16 patients chez qui nous en avions induit avant l’intervention et, chez le patient restant, nous avons pu induire une TV non clinique seulement. Les complications comprenaient un cas d’épanchement péricardique ayant nécessité un drainage. Au total, 16 (89 %) des 18 patients ont reçu leur congé de l’hôpital dans les 24 heures suivant l’ablation. Conclusions: L’ULTC est réalisable et permet une maîtrise rigoureuse de la TV monomorphe lors des interventions d’ablation de la TV chez les patients dont la TV est pharmacorésistante.

Background: Cardioneuroablation (CNA) is an ablation technique that targets epicardial ganglionic plexi to reduce syncope burden and avoid pacemaker implantation in patients with cardioinhibitory vasovagal syncope (VVS). This study aims to demonstrate feasibility and safety of CNA in high-risk refractory VVS patients using continuous monitoring with an implantable loop recorder (ILR). Methods: Data was collected prospectively for patients undergoing CNA. Patients were required to have recurrent syncope with documented asystole, refractory to conservative measures. Ganglionic plexi (GPs) were identified by fragmented signals and high frequency stimulation (HFS). Ablation was performed until loss of positive response to HFS, Wenckebach cycle shortening was achieved, or an increase in sinus rate of > 20 bpm. Follow-up was performed through remote and clinic follow-up of their ILRs. Results: Between December 2020 and July 2023 six patients (mean age 29 ± 3, 67 % female)underwent CNA. The baseline heart rate and Wenckebach cycle length was 63.2 ± 15 bpm and 582 ms before and 91 ± 5 bpm and 358 ms after ablation respectively. During a median follow-up of 13.4 months, 3/5 patients had no further syncopal episodes, 1 had a recurrence, underwent repeat CNA with no further episodes at 1 year, and 1 had 5 syncopal events, which was a dramatic reduction from nearly daily episodes pre-CNA. There were no procedure related complications. Conclusions: A dramatic reduction in documented pauses and syncope burden was noted post CNA. Appropriate patient selection with rigorous objective follow-up in an experienced center is necessary. Larger studies are required to confirm these findings.

Background: Whether statins reliably reduce the risk of postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) in patients undergoing cardiac surgery remains controversial. We sought to determine the impact of statin use on new-onset postdischarge POAF in the Post-Surgical Enhanced Monitoring for Cardiac Arrhythmias and Atrial Fibrillation (SEARCH-AF) CardioLink-1 randomized controlled trial. Methods: We randomized 336 patients with risk factors for stroke (CHA2DS2-VASc score ≥ 2) and no history of preoperative atrial fibrillation (AF) to 30-day continuous cardiac rhythm monitoring after discharge from cardiac surgery with a wearable, patched-based device or to usual care. The primary endpoint was the occurrence of cumulative AF and/or atrial flutter lasting for ≥ 6 minutes detected by continuous monitoring, or AF and/or atrial flutter documented by a 12-lead electrocardiogram within 30 days of randomization. Results: The 260 patients (77.4%) discharged on statins were more likely to be male (P = 0.018) and to have lower CHA2DS2-VASc scores (P = 0.011). Patients treated with statins at discharge had a 2-fold lower rate of POAF than those who were not treated with statins in the entire cohort (18.4% vs 8.1%, log-rank P = 0.0076). On multivariable Cox regression including the CHA2DS2-VASc score adjustment, statin use was associated with a lower risk of POAF (hazard ratio 0.43, 95% confidence interval: 0.25-0.98, P = 0.043). Use of statins at a higher intensity was associated with lower risk of POAF, suggestive of a dose–response effect (log-rank Ptrend = 0.0082). Conclusions: The use of statins was associated with a reduction in postdischarge POAF risk among patients undergoing cardiac surgery. The routine use of high-intensity statin to prevent subacute POAF after discharge deserves further study. Résumé: Contexte: L’efficacité des statines dans la réduction du risque de fibrillation auriculaire postopératoire (FAPO) chez les patients ayant subi une chirurgie cardiaque ne fait pas l’unanimité. Nous avons tenté de déterminer l’effet de l’utilisation des statines sur la survenue d’une FAPO inaugurale consécutive au congé de l’hôpital dans l’essai SEARCH-AF CardioLink-1, un essai contrôlé à répartition aléatoire sur le suivi étroit en postopératoire des arythmies cardiaques et de la fibrillation auriculaire. Méthodologie: Nous avons réparti aléatoirement 336 patients présentant des facteurs de risque d’AVC (score CHA2DS2-VASc ≥ 2) sans antécédents de fibrillation auriculaire (FA) préopératoire dans deux groupes : les patients du premier groupe étaient équipés d’un dispositif portable sous forme de timbre pour la surveillance continue du rythme cardiaque pendant 30 jours après la sortie de l’hôpital suivant une chirurgie cardiaque; les patients du second groupe étaient suivis de façon conventionnelle. Le critère d’évaluation principal était la survenue cumulative de FA et/ou de flutter auriculaire durant ≥ 6 minutes détecté par la surveillance continue, ou la FA et/ou le flutter auriculaire confirmé par un électrocardiogramme à 12 dérivations dans les 30 jours suivant la répartition aléatoire. Résultats: Les 260 patients (77,4 %) prenant des statines à leur congé de l’hôpital étaient plus susceptibles d’être des hommes (p = 0,018) et d’avoir un score CHA2DS2-VASc plus faible (p = 0,011). Les patients traités par des statines à leur congé de l’hôpital avaient deux fois moins de risques de présenter une FAPO que les patients ne recevant pas de statines dans l’ensemble de la cohorte (18,4 % contre 8,1 %, valeur de p calculée selon le test de Mantel-Haenszel = 0,0076). Dans une régression de Cox multivariable incluant l’ajustement du score CHA2DS2-VASc, l’utilisation des statines a été associée à un risque moindre de FAPO (rapport des risques instantanés : 0,43, intervalle de confiance à 95 % de 0,25 à 0,98; p = 0,043). L’utilisation de statines à plus fortes doses a été associée à un risque moindre de FAPO, ce qui laisse croire à un effet dose-réponse (valeur de p de tendance selon le test de Mantel-Haenszel = 0,0082). Conclusions: L’utilisation de statines est associée à une réduction du risque de FAPO après le congé de l’hôpital chez les patients ayant subi une chirurgie cardiaque. L’utilisation systématique de statines à fortes doses pour prévenir la FAPO subaiguë après le congé d’hôpital mérite une étude plus approfondie.

Transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CM) is a rare and under-recognized disorder characterized by the aggregation of transthyretin-derived insoluble amyloid fibrils in the myocardium. Heterogeneity of symptoms at presentation, makes its diagnosis often delayed. An expert panel gathered on a virtual platform across India to conduct a meeting for developing a guiding tool for ATTR-CM diagnosis. The panel recommended younger age (≥40 years) for suspecting ATTR-CM and thick-walled non-dilated hypokinetic ventricle was considered as one of the important red flags. Electrocardiogram (ECG) and echocardiography (ECHO) findings were recommended as primary tests to raise the suspicion while nuclear scintigraphy and hematological tests were recommended to confirm the diagnosis and rule out amyloid light-chain (AL) amyloidosis. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and biopsy were recommended in case of ambiguity in the presence of red flags. Considering the lack of expert guidelines in the Indian scenario, a standardized diagnostic algorithm was also proposed.

Introduction: The term “blood component” refers to the separation of Whole Blood (WB) into packed red cells, platelet-rich plasma, Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP), cryoprecipitate, and leukocytes. The practice of separating donated WB units into different blood components and supplying only those components to patients is now considered a standard practice in all blood banks. Therefore, regular auditing of blood usage and its components is essential to assess blood utilisation patterns. Aim: The aim of this study was to analyse the distribution and appropriateness of blood and blood product transfusions in children aged 1-18 years. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted over an 18-month period from December 1, 2014, to June 30, 2016, involving paediatric patients requiring blood and blood product transfusions, who presented to the Department of Paediatrics, Shri B.M. Patil Medical Hospital, Vijayapura, Karnataka, India. The study population consisted of children aged 1-18 years. Data from blood component requisition forms were collected, and reports of investigations such as pre-transfusion/post-transfusion haematological parameters, coagulogram, and peripheral smear were recorded. Predetermined criteria were used to assess each transfusion episode. The results were then analysed, tabulated, and expressed as a percentage. The appropriateness of Packed Red Blood Cell (PRBC), platelet, and FFP transfusions was estimated using predetermined criteria. Data from blood component requisition forms were collected, coded, tabulated, analysed, and expressed as a percentage. Results: The study included 149 paediatric patients aged 1 to 18 years. Out of a total of 214 episodes of blood and blood component transfusions among the 149 patients, 102 episodes (47.7%) were WB transfusions, 67 episodes (31.3%) were packed red cell transfusions, 26 episodes (12.1%) were platelet transfusions, and 19 episodes (8.9%) were FFP transfusions. Out of the total 214 transfusion episodes, 126 (58.5%) were deemed appropriate, while 88 (41.5%) were deemed inappropriate. The most commonly inappropriately used component was WB, followed by platelets, FFP, and packed red cells. Inappropriateness of WB usage was primarily due to attempts to achieve haemostasis in bleeding patients, while sepsis was the most common indication for inappropriate platelet usage. Conclusion: This audit highlights significant variation in transfusion practice patterns among paediatricians. The most common indications for usage were found to be achieving haemostasis, threshold haemoglobin concentration, and sepsis in children.

Abstract It is well known that diabetes is a prominent risk factor for cardiovascular (CV) events. The level of CV risk depends on the type and duration of diabetes, age and additional co-morbidities. Diabetes is an independent risk factor for atrial fibrillation (AF) and is frequently observed in patients with AF, which further increases their risk of stroke associated with this cardiac arrhythmia. Nearly one third of patients with diabetes globally have CV disease (CVD). Additionally, co-morbid AF and coronary artery disease are more frequently observed in patients with diabetes than the general population, further increasing the already high CV risk of these patients. To protect against thromboembolic events in patients with diabetes and AF or established CVD, guidelines recommend optimal CV risk factor control, including oral anticoagulation treatment. However, patients with diabetes exist in a prothrombotic and inflammatory state. Greater clinical benefit may therefore be seen with the use of stronger antithrombotic agents or innovative drug combinations in high-risk patients with diabetes, such as those who have concomitant AF or established CVD. In this review, we discuss CV risk management strategies in patients with diabetes and concomitant vascular disease, stroke prevention regimens in patients with diabetes and AF and how worsening renal function in these patients may complicate these approaches. Accumulating evidence from clinical trials and real-world evidence show a benefit to the administration of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants for stroke prevention in patients with diabetes and AF.

Background: The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic significantly affected management of cardiovascular disease around the world. The effect of the pandemic on volume of cardiovascular diagnostic procedures is not known. Objectives: This study sought to evaluate the effects of the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic on cardiovascular diagnostic procedures and safety practices in Asia. Methods: The International Atomic Energy Agency conducted a worldwide survey to assess changes in cardiovascular procedure volume and safety practices caused by COVID-19. Testing volumes were reported for March 2020 and April 2020 and were compared to those from March 2019. Data from 180 centers across 33 Asian countries were grouped into 4 subregions for comparison. Results: Procedure volumes decreased by 47% from March 2019 to March 2020, showing recovery from March 2020 to April 2020 in Eastern Asia, particularly in China. The majority of centers cancelled outpatient activities and increased time per study. Practice changes included implementing physical distancing and restricting visitors. Although COVID testing was not commonly performed, it was conducted in one-third of facilities in Eastern Asia. The most severe reductions in procedure volumes were observed in lower-income countries, where volumes decreased 81% from March 2019 to April 2020. Conclusions: The COVID-19 pandemic in Asia caused significant reductions in cardiovascular diagnostic procedures, particularly in low-income countries. Further studies on effects of COVID-19 on cardiovascular outcomes and changes in care delivery are warranted.

Background: Atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia is the most common type of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. We sought to assess whether important anatomic factors, such as the location of the slow pathway, proximity to the bundle of His, and coronary sinus ostium dimensions, varied with patient age, and whether these factors had an impact on procedural duration, acute success, and complications. Methods: Baseline demographic and procedural data were collected, and the maps were analyzed. Linear regression models were performed to evaluate the associations between age and these anatomic variations. Associations were also assessed, with age categorized as being ≥ 60 years or < 60 years. Results: The slow pathway was more commonly located in a superior location relative to the coronary sinus ostium in older patients. The location of the slow pathway moved in a superior direction by 1 mm for every increase in 2 years from the mean estimate of age. Additionally the slow pathway tended to be closer to the coronary sinus ostium in older patients, and the diameter of the ostium was larger in older patients. This resulted in longer procedure time, longer ablation times, and a greater need for long sheaths for stability. Conclusions: The location of the slow pathway becomes more superior and closer to the coronary sinus ostium with increasing age. Additionally, the coronary sinus diameter increases with age. These factors result in longer ablation and procedural times in older patients. Background The natural history of autonomic alterations following catheter ablation of drug‐refractory paroxysmal atrial fibrillation is poorly defined, largely because of the historical reliance on non‐invasive intermittent rhythm monitoring for outcome ascertainment. Methods and Results The study included 346 patients with drug‐refractory paroxysmal atrial fibrillation undergoing pulmonary vein isolation using contemporary advanced‐generation ablation technologies. All patients underwent insertion of a Reveal LINQ (Medtronic) implantable cardiac monitor before ablation. The implantable cardiac monitor continuously recorded physical activity, heart rate variability (measured as the SD of the average normal‐to‐normal), daytime heart rate, and nighttime heart rate. Longitudinal autonomic data in the 2‐month period leading up to the date of ablation were compared with the period from 91 to 365 days following ablation. Background Patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing catheter‐based AF ablation have lower success rates than those with paroxysmal AF. We compared healthcare use and clinical outcomes between patients according to their AF subtypes. Methods and Results Consecutive patients undergoing AF ablation were prospectively identified from a population‐based registry in Ontario, Canada. Via linkage with administrative databases, we performed a retrospective analysis comparing the following outcomes between patients with persistent and paroxysmal AF: healthcare use (defined as AF‐related hospitalizations/emergency room visits), periprocedural complications, and mortality. Multivariable Poisson modeling was performed to compare the rates of AF‐related and all‐cause hospitalizations/emergency room visits in the year before versus after ablation. Between April 2012 and March 2016, there were 3768 consecutive patients who underwent first‐time AF ablation, of whom 1040 (27.6%) had persistent AF. The mean follow‐up was 1329 days. Patients with persistent AF had higher risk of AF‐related hospitalization/emergency room visits (hazard ratio [HR], 1.21; 95% CI, 1.09–1.34), mortality (HR, 1.74; 95% CI, 1.15–2.63), and periprocedural complications (odds ratio, 1.36; 95% CI, 1.02–1.75) than those with paroxysmal AF. In the overall cohort, there was a 48% reduction in the rate of AF‐related hospitalization/emergency room visits in the year after versus before ablation (rate ratio [RR], 0.52; 95% CI, 0.48–0.56). This reduction was observed for patients with paroxysmal (RR, 0.45; 95% CI, 0.41–0.50) and persistent (RR, 0.74; 95% CI, 0.63–0.87) AF. Conclusions Although patients with persistent AF had higher risk of adverse outcomes than those with paroxysmal AF, ablation was associated with a favorable reduction in downstream AF‐related healthcare use, irrespective of AF type.

Context: We examined if empagliflozin was associated with modulation of cardiac autonomic tone among subjects with type 2 diabetes and stable coronary artery disease (CAD) relative to placebo. Methods: Using ambulatory 24-h Holter electrocardiographic data prospectively collected from a randomized trial, we compared changes in heart rate variability (HRV) parameters between empagliflozin- and placebo-assigned subjects over a follow-up period of 6 months. Measured HRV domains included: standard deviation (SD) of NN intervals (SDNN), SD of average NN intervals per 5-min (SDANN), root mean square of successive RR interval differences (RMSSD), % successive NN intervals differing >50 ms (ms) (pNN50), low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF) and the LF/HF ratio (LF:HF). Differences in HRV parameters between the 2 groups were compared with analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Statistical measures of significance were reported as adjusted differences between the 2 groups and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals. Results: Sixty-six subjects completed 24-h Holter monitoring at baseline and 6-months. Over 6 months, the change in HRV was similar between subjects treated with empagliflozin vs. placebo for the following parameters: RMSSD -1.2 ms (-6.0 to 3.6 ms); pNN50 0.5% (-2.6 to 3.6%); VLF -907.8 ms2 (-2388.8 to 573.1 ms2); LF -341 ms2 (-878.7 to 196.7 ms2); HF -33.8 ms2 (-111.1 to 43.5 ms2); LF:HF -0.1 (-0.4 to 0.2). Subjects who received placebo experienced an increase in SDNN 18.6 ms (2.8–34.3 ms) and SDANN 20.2 ms (3.2–37.3 ms) relative to those treated with empagliflozin. Conclusion: Compared to placebo, empagliflozin did not result in changes in autonomic tone among individuals with type 2 diabetes and stable coronary artery disease.

The rapid mutations of viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 require vaccine updates and the development of novel antiviral drugs. This article presents an improved database filtering technology for a more effective design of novel antiviral agents. Different from the previous approach, where the most probable parameters were obtained stepwise from the antimicrobial peptide database, we found it possible to accelerate the design process by deriving multiple parameters in a single step during the peptide amino acid analysis. The resulting peptide DFTavP1 displays the ability to inhibit Ebola virus. A deviation from the most probable peptide parameters reduces antiviral activity. The designed peptides appear to block viral entry. In addition, the amino acid signature provides a clue to peptide engineering to gain cell selectivity. Like human cathelicidin LL-37, our engineered peptide DDIP1 inhibits both Ebola and SARS-CoV-2 viruses. These peptides, with broad antiviral activity, may selectively disrupt viral envelopes and offer the lasting efficacy required to treat various RNA viruses, including their emerging mutants.

Background Recent evidence shows an association between the level of physical activity and cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We sought to assess the impact of AF daily burden on the activity level of the patient who underwent pulmonary vein isolation.
