This study aims to investigate the effect of different infrared powers (IP) (38 W, 50 W, 62 W, 74 W, and 88 W) on drying kinetics, total phenolic content (TPC) and individual phenolics, antioxidant activity (AA) and antibacterial activity, and color quality of sage leaves. IP level significantly affected (p0.80). This study suggested that sage leaves should be dried at 88 W regarding lower drying times and color changes, lower phenolic degradation, and higher antibacterial activity.

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji pengaruh asimetri informasi dan analyst coverage terhadap konservatisma akuntansi. Pendekatan net assets measures digunakan untuk mengukur konservatisma akuntansi. Sementara, asimetri informasi dan analyst coverage diukur menggunakan bid-ask spread dan analyst following. Sampel penelitian ini adalah perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia periode 2010-2014. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan metode purposive random sampling dan terpilih 124 perusahaan. Hasil penelitian menemukan bukti bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif antara asimetri informasi dan analyst coverage terhadap tingkat konservatisma akuntansi. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar asimetri informasi antara insider dan outsider investor dan semakin banyak analis yang melakukan analisis terhadap perusahaan maka penerapan tingkat konservatisma dalam laporan keuangan semakin tinggi pula. Penelitian ini diharapkan mampu memberikan masukan bagi regulator dan badan penyusun standar mengenai peran penting konservatisma akuntansi sehingga tidak ada upaya untuk menghilangkannya dalam praktek akuntansi. Selain itu, hasil penelitian ini diharapkan mampu memberikan informasi mengenai peran analis sebagai pihak yang mendorong penyajian laporan keuangan yang akurat sehingga mampu mengurangi asimetri informasi dan meminimalkan perilaku oportunistik manajer.

Background Diarrhea remains one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in children in developing countries. Probiotics have been shown to be beneficial for decreasing the frequency and duration of diarrhea. However, the reported effects on reducing the duration of diarrhea have been varied. Objective To compare the effectiveness of live and heat􀁂killed probiotics in 6􀁂60 month􀁂old children with acute diarrhea for decreasing duration and frequency of diarrhea and improving weight gain. Methods We conducted a randomized, single􀁂blind, controlled trial in children aged 6􀁂60 months with acute diarrhea. Children were randomized into two groups, receiving either live or heat􀁂 killed probiotics. All children received standard treatment for diarrhea and probiotics as adjuvant treatment. The primary outcomes were duration and frequency of diarrhea, as well as weight gain. T􀁂test was used for data analysis. Results There were 165 children with acute diarrhea enrolled in this study. They were divided into 2 groups, with 83 children receiving live probiotics and 82 children receiving heat􀁂killed probiotics. There were no significant differences in diarrheal duration in the two groups. The mean durations of diarrhea in the live and heat􀁂killed probiotic groups were 3.64 (SD 0.85) days and 3.74 (SD 0.73) days (P>0.05), respectively. Mean diarrheal frequencies were also not significantly different, with 3.25 (SD 1.44) times per day in the live probiotic group and 3.26 (SD 1.20) times per day in the heat􀁂killed probiotic group (P>0.05). In addition, mean weight gain was not significantly different, 'With 241.57 (SD 75.84) g in the live prohiotic group and 221.95 (SD 85.38) g in the heat-killed prohiotic group (P>0.05). Conclusion There were no significant differences between live and heat􀁂killed probiotics for reducing duration and frequency of diarrhea, as well as in weight gain in children aged 6􀁂60 months 'With acute diarrhea. A study was designed to investigate ameliorates effect of combined vitamins C and E able to against depot-medroxyprogesterone acetate- (DMPA-) induced ovarian oxidative stress in rat. Twenty-five female Wistar rats were divided into the following groups (n=5 rats each): control (untreated) (C); depot-medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA); DMPA plus green vitamin C (at dose of 0.2 mg/gram; 0.4 mg/gram; 0.8 mg/gram) and vitamin E (0.04 IU/gram). Objective: It is known that neuropathic pain frequently accompanies rheumatological diseases. In this study, neuropathic pain in Ankylosing Spondylitis(AS) and its relationship with disease activity were investigated., Methods: Forty patients with AS were included. Laboratory data and disease status parameters were recorded. Neuropathic pain questionnaires were administered. Electrophysiological examination was performed on all patients. The relationship between neuropathic pain and disease activity parameters was investigated., Results: According to the Pain Detect and LANSS questionnaire results, the rate of neuropathic pain was 57.5% and 42.5%. ASQoL, BASDAI, and ASDAS-ESH parameters are statistically significantly higher in the group with neuropathic pain according to the PainDetect (p:0.018, p:0.04, p:0.028). MASES, ASQoL, BASDAI, BASFI, and ASDAS-ESH parameters are statistically significantly higher in the group with neuropathic pain according to the LANSS (p:0.004, p:0.005, p: 0.001, p:0.005, p:0.02). Disease activity is higher in patients with neuropathic pain for both scales. Peripheral neuropathy is detected in nine patients. There is a positive correlation between disease activity parameters and neuropathic pain scales. A strong positive correlation was detected between ASQoL and BASDAI parameters and the Pain Detect questionnaire (r:0.533, r:0.606)., Conclusions: The majority of patients with AS have a neuropathic pain. Purpose: Ponticulus Posticus, atlantooccipital ligament ossification-induced anomaly, surrounds the vertebral artery and the first cervical nerve root. It is believed to wrap around the first cervical nerve root and the vertebral artery, causing compression. We hypothesized that it would also reduce the diameter of the vertebral artery., Methods: Between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, cervical spine CT scans taken for any reason were retrospectively reviewed. The images of 1365 patients suitable for evaluation were evaluated by two expert radiologists in 3 dimensions. Among patients with PP, those who underwent cervical angiography were identified for vertebral artery diameter measurement., Results: The average age of the 1365 individuals included in the study (732 males, 633 females) was 55.78 (± 18.85) with an age range of 1-96. Among this group, PP was detected in 288 individuals, resulting in a total prevalence of 21.1%. Right and left vertebral artery diameters were significantly lower in patients with complete PP compared to the absent group (p < 0,001, p < 0,001, respectively). Additionally, it was observed that width and height diameters and artery diameters were positively correlated in patients with Complete PP., Conclusions: Ponticulus posticus can cause vertebrobasilar insufficiency by reducing the diameter of the vertebral artery. Objectives: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) can cause peripheral arthritis, tendinitis, enthesitis, and axial skeletal involvement. This study aims to determine early tendon damage by shear wave elastography (SWE) for the Achilles tendon in AS patients., Methods: 48 AS patients and 48 asymptomatic individuals were included in the study. Participants were systematically examined with B-mode, power Doppler, and SWE using a high-resolution linear 6-15 MHz probe. Bilateral Achilles tendon stiffness, thickness, and vascularity were evaluated. Measurements were taken from the middle third of the Achilles tendon in the sagittal plane. Difference between the two groups was evaluated with statistical methods. Receiver operating characteristic analysis was performed to test the diagnostic performance of Achilles tendon stiffness. Additionally, the Spearman correlation test examined the relationship between Achilles tendon stiffness and disease duration., Results: The difference between the two groups regarding Achilles tendon stiffness was statistically significant (p < 0.05). It was observed that Achilles tendon stiffness decreased in the patient group compared with the control group. The diagnostic value of Achilles tendon stiffness measured by SWE was found to be high. A negative correlation was detected between disease duration and tendon stiffness (p < 0.05)., Conclusion: In patients diagnosed with AS, deterioration in the Achilles tendon structure was observed, and a significant decrease in tendon stiffness compared with the healthy population. Introduction: Dyke-Davidoff-Masson Syndrome (DDMS) is a clinical syndrome that causes different clinical symptoms and is defined by volume decrement in one cerebral hemisphere. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the involvement of the normal-appearing contralateral hemisphere in 16 pediatric patients with DDMS using diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI)., Materials and Methods: Brain MRIs were retrospectively reviewed between January 2014 and January 2023. Sixteen pediatric patients radiologically compatible with DDMS were included in the study. Sixteen children who had undergone brain MRI, most commonly for headaches and whose MRI findings had been completely normal, were included as the control group. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values of the deep gray and white matter of the normal-appearing hemisphere in the patient group were calculated and compared with that of the control group., Results: The ADC values of the gray and white matters of the patient and control groups were not statistically different. However, in the patient group, the ADC values of the gray and white matters in males were remarkably lower than in females (p = 0.038, p = 0.037, respectively)., Conclusion: The difference in the ADC values of the contralateral hemisphere between females and males in the patient group suggests that the normal-appearing hemisphere may have been affected by DDMS. Although, the exact mechanism of this effect is not known. Therefore, in patients with DDMS, contralateral hemisphere involvement in cerebral hemiatrophy and hemispherectomy should be evaluated clinically and radiologically., (© 2024. Objective: To examine the effect of sarcopenia on osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture with psoas muscle measurements., Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Place and Duration of the Study: Department of Radiology, Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Sivas, Turkiye, from January 2020 to March 2023., Methodology: Measurements evaluating psoas muscle area (PMA), psoas muscle index (PMI), and psoas muscle density (PMD) were made at L2 vertebral corpus level for the diagnosis of sarcopenia from muscle mass with computed tomography (CT). The association between sarcopenia and osteoporotic compression fracture was examined with significance at p <0.05., Results: Osteoporotic patients with 37 compression fractures and 37 without compression fractures were examined. PMA and PMI were statistically significantly lower in the study group (p <0.01). PMD was also found to be statistically significantly lower in the study group (p <0.05). Diagnostic performance (DP) was good for the discrimination of patients and control groups for psoas area (AUC = 0.88; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.807 - 0.956 and PMI (AUC = 0.83; 95% CI 0.734 - 0.917. It was poor for psoas density (AUC = 0.66, 95% CI 0.531 - 0.782)., Conclusion: Sarcopenia is an important risk factor for osteoporotic compression fracture. Objective: Familial Mediterranean fever is the most common monogenic autoinflammatory disease. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between sacroiliitis observed in familial Mediterranean fever and hematological inflammatory markers., Methods: In this study, 168 familial Mediterranean fever patients were examined. A total of 61 familial Mediterranean fever patients who had sacroiliac magnetic resonance imaging due to waist and hip pain were included in the study. According to the magnetic resonance imaging findings, patients were divided into two groups: with and without sacroiliitis. The relationship between hematological inflammatory markers and sacroiliitis was investigated., Results: The frequency of sacroiliitis was found to be 13.6% in all familial Mediterranean fever patients and 37.8% in patients with low back pain who underwent sacroiliac magnetic resonance imaging. Neutrophil count, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, monocyte/lymphocyte ratio, and systemic immune-inflammatory index were significantly higher in the sacroiliitis group than in the other group, and this difference was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). As a result of the receiver operating characteristic analysis, it was observed that neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, monocyte/lymphocyte ratio, and systemic immune-inflammatory index were very sensitive parameters in determining sacroiliitis in patients with familial Mediterranean fever., Conclusion: It was observed that the frequency of sacroiliitis was increased in familial Mediterranean fever patients. It is predicted that hematological inflammatory markers such as neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, monocyte/lymphocyte ratio, and systemic immune-inflammatory index can be used in the diagnosis of sacroiliitis.

Background: Knee osteoarthritis is a common, degenerative joint disease that causes chronic pain that affects daily life. Our study aims to evaluate geriatric patients aged 65 and over with knee pain in terms of osteoarthritis with radiography and magnetic resonance imaging and to investigate its relationship with meniscal pathologies., Methods: Radiography and magnetic resonance imaging of patients aged 65-88 years with knee pain were evaluated in terms of knee osteoarthritis and staging was performed. Meniscal pathologies were evaluated in magnetic resonance imaging, and the prevalence of different meniscal lesion types was calculated. In addition, the relationship between knee osteoarthritis and meniscal pathologies was analyzed., Results: Radiographic evidence of knee osteoarthritis was found in 182 (84.2%) of the 216 cases in our study group. A strong correlation was found between the degrees of knee osteoarthritis on magnetic resonance imaging and radiography. At least one meniscus pathology was observed in all 182 radiography cases with knee osteoarthritis findings. At least one meniscus pathology was observed in 29 (85.3%) of those without osteoarthritis signs. It was determined that meniscus degeneration, tear, and extrusion were observed more frequently in patients with knee osteoarthritis than in patients without osteoarthritis. Meniscal extrusion and complex and horizontaltype tears were the most common lesions., Conclusions: Osteoarthritis was found to be common in geriatric patients with knee pain. A correlation was found between radiography and magnetic resonance imaging regarding knee osteoarthritis. In this study, the possibilities of using cold plasma technology in solving the mold problem, which is one of the most important problems in Kashar cheese, were investigated. For this purpose Kashar cheeses were exposed to cold plasma with different gas compositions. As a result of the study 3-4 log reduction was achieved for both Aspergillus flavus and Penicillium crysogenum . The pH and a w values of samples were decreased with cold plasma application. The b* values of samples increased while L* and a* values decreased. The cold-pressed pumpkin seed oil by-product (POB) was evaluated for its application as a natural fat substitute and stabilizer in the reduced-fat salad dressings. For this aim, the samples were prepared by combining the xanthan gum (0.2-0.4 g/100 g), POB (1.0-5.0 g/100 g), egg yolk powder (3 g/100 g), and sunflower oil (10-30 g/100 g) in 17 different formulations. The optimization was carried out using response surface methodology (RSM) and full factorial central composite design (CCD). Results showed that all samples presented the shear-thinning (or pseudoplastic) flow behavior with 3.75-16.11 Pa·s n and 0.18-0.30, K and n values, respectively. The flow behavior rheological data were fitted to a power-law model (R 2 > 0.99). The samples with high POB and low oil content showed similar K and n values compared to high oil content samples. Additionally, the dynamic rheological properties and three interval thixotropic test (3-ITT) were determined. The G' value was larger than G″ in all frequency ranges, indicating viscoelastic solid characteristics in all samples. The optimum formulation was determined as 0.384% XG, 10% oil, and 3.04% POB. The samples prepared with the optimum formulation (POBLF-SD) were compared to low-fat (LF-SD), and high-fat (HF-SD) control salad dressing samples based on the rheological properties, emulsion stability, oxidative stability, zeta potential, and particle size. The oxidation kinetic parameters namely, IP, E a , ΔS ++ , and ΔG ++ showed that the oxidative stability of salad dressing samples could be improved by enriched by POB. The results of the present study demonstrated that POB could be considerably utilized as a natural fat substitute and stabilizer in salad dressing type emulsions.

This study aimed to investigate the utilization of cold-pressed chia-seed oil by-products (CSOB) in a low-fat ice cream formulation as a fat replacer and stabilizer. In the study, ice cream emulsion mixtures were formulated by using 0.2-0.4% xanthan gum (XG), 2.5-12.5% fat, and 1-3% CSOB. Optimization was performed using the response surface methodology (RSM) and full factorial central composite design (CCD) based on the flow behavior rheological properties of the emulsions obtained from 17 different experimental points. All of the emulsion samples showed non-Newtonian shear-thinning flow behavior. The consistency coefficient ( Κ ) values of the emulsion samples were found to be 4.01-26.05 Pas n and were significantly affected by optimization parameters ( p < 0.05). The optimum formulation was determined as 0.29% XG, 2.5% CSOB, 2.5% fat. The low-fat (LF-IC) and full-fat control samples (FF-IC) were compared to samples produced with an optimum formulation (CBLF-IC) based on the steady shear, frequency sweep, and 3-ITT (three interval thixotropy test) rheological properties, thermal properties, emulsion stability, light microscope images, and sensory quality. CBLF-IC showed similar rheological behavior to FF-IC. The mix of CBLF-IC showed higher emulsion stability and lower poly-dispersity index (PDI) value and fat globule diameters than those of FF-IC and LF-IC. The thermal properties of the samples were significantly affected by the addition of CSOB in an ice cream mix. CBLF-IC exhibited a lower temperature range (ΔT), enthalpy of fusion (ΔH f ), and freezing point temperature (T f ) than those of FF-IC and LF-IC. While CBLF-IC exhibited a higher overrun value than other samples, it showed similar sensory properties to the FF-IC sample. The results of this study suggested that CSOB could be used successfully in low-fat ice cream production. This study also has the potential to gain new perspectives for the evaluation of CSOB as a fat substitute in a low-fat ice cream.

Green coffee contains macro nutrients such as carbohydrates, protein, fat, as well as minor components such as caffeine, trigonelin and chlorogenic acid. Phenolics, chlorogenic acids and brown pigments are sources of natural antixodants. High polypehonic materials found in green coffee and especially chlorogenic acid in it have an important place. It is considered that; green coffee has effects on body mass, blood glucose and lipid levels, blood pressure, prevention from cardiovascular diseases which is based on chlorogenic acid consisting antioxidant activity. However, many topics like toxicological effects, doses, amounts, usage in the body, advantages and disadvantages, etc. of these active molecules need to be examined. For these reasons this article was rewieved to evaluate health effects of green coffee.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to identify oxidative stress and the disruption in the oxidant-antioxidant balance in the acute phase of stroke and, therefore, to detect markers that will guide in the diagnosis and treatment of stroke., Materials and Methods: Eighty-six patients who were admitted to Antalya Training and Research Hospital Emergency Department between June 2013 and December 2013 and who were diagnosed as having stroke were enrolled in this study. The control group consisted of 40 healthy volunteers. Blood samples collected from all participants were screened for albumin, ischemic modified albumin (IMA), IMA/albumin ratio (IMAR), total antioxidant status, total oxidant status (TOS), and oxidative stress index (OSI)., Results: Sixty (70%) patients were diagnosed as having acute cerebral infarction (ACI) and 26 (30%) as having acute intracerebral hemorrhage (AIH). Statistically significant difference was found between AIH and control groups in terms of albumin, IMAR, TOS, OSI levels (P < .001, P < .001, P < .001, and P < .001, respectively). Statistically significant difference was found between ACI and control groups in terms of albumin, IMA, IMAR, TOS, and OSI levels (P < .001, P = .045, P < .001, P < .001, and P < .001, respectively). There was no difference between ACI patients with detected acute infarcts on cranial computed tomographic scans (n = 31) and ACI patients with normal cranial computed tomography results (n = 29) in terms of oxidant-antioxidant levels. There was a significant difference between patients admitted within 3 hours and healthy adults regarding the levels of IMAR, TOS, and OSI (P < .001, P < .001, and P < .001, respectively)., Discussion and Conclusion: It was seen that oxidant-antioxidant balance was impaired in favor of oxidants in ACI and AIH. In addition, impairment in oxidant-antioxidant balance was found in the early stages of ACI.
