Mindfulness means being in the present, intentionally and without any judgment. Mindfulness helps people cope with challenging experiences such as trauma. Children's Homes in Türkiye are institutions that provide social care to young people with past traumatic experiences. This study aims at evaluating the effects of a mindfulness-based (MB) groupwork program with a group of residents in a Children's Home. An experimental pretest-posttest control group design was used. An eight-session MB training program was implemented with 21 female adolescents. There were 29 female adolescents in the control group. The MB groupwork program significantly increased the mindfulness levels of the group. However, its effect on the other variables could not be determined at a significant level. There were positive correlations between mindfulness, life satisfaction and subjective happiness, and a negative correlation with perceived stress. The results of this study showed that MB interventions increase mindfulness levels of adolescents in a Children's Home setting in Türkiye. Secondly, as mindfulness increased, life satisfaction and subjective happiness also increased while perceived stress decreased. MB interventions are recommended to be used in social work interventions with different groups since it can contribute to subjective well-being. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This document summarizes a study conducted in Turkey on the attitudes of social workers towards ethical dilemmas they encounter in their work. The study found that women and professionals working in the Ministry of Health had higher ethical dilemma-solving skills, while these skills decreased with age and years of experience. The study recommends broader ethics education and training for social workers, as well as the importance of staying updated through academic activities. Additionally, the document highlights the need for practical knowledge and ethics education in social work training to improve ethical dilemma-solving skills among social workers. - Abstract
This study examines the role of self-esteem as a mediator in the relationship between mindfulness and subjective happiness. The sample of the study consists of 350 university students. Within this scope, the study uses a personal information form, the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale, Subjective Happiness Scale, and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and performs exploratory factor, correlation, and regression analyses based on the collected data set. Significant positive relationships have been found between subjective happiness and mindfulness and between subjective happiness and self-esteem. In addition, a significant positive relationship has been found between the variables of self-esteem and mindfulness. When evaluating self-esteem as a mediator in the relationship between mindfulness and subjective happiness, self-esteem is seen to have a statistically significant mediating effect. Through this study, self-esteem has been concluded to mediate the relationship between mindfulness and subjective happiness. As a result of this relationship, developing psychological intervention programs that include self-esteem modules and forming educational programs are recommended in order to increase self-esteem.
