Using thiol–ene chemistry, polymerization-induced phase separation, and DLP 3D printing, we present a method for manufacturing reactive macroporous 3D structures. This approach enables the fabrication of structures with tunable physicochemical properties and compressibility. Moreover, it facilitates post-functionalization through thiol-Michael addition reactions, thereby expanding performance and application potential. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: While the needs of family members have previously been studied, the needs of families of trauma patients have received less attention. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to assess the needs of family members of trauma patients in the emergency department. METHODS: This cross-sectional survey study was conducted over 4 months (February–May 2022) with family members of trauma patients admitted to the emergency department of a state hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. The validated Critical Care Family Needs Inventory – Emergency Department survey was administered face-to-face to a convenience sample of consenting family members. RESULTS: A total of 248 family members participated, representing 84 patients. The mean age of the participants was 33 (8.18) years, with a gender distribution of 50% women. On average, 76.5% of the family members' needs were met. The most important needs reported as mean (SD) were as follows: communication, 3.52 (0.68); participation in care, 3.52 (0.68); comfort, 3.36 (0.65); and support needs, 3.21 (0.72). These needs were met to varying degrees: communication 85%, participation in care 81.2%, comfort 75.4%, and support needs 65.2%. CONCLUSION: The study findings indicate that the needs of family members of emergency department trauma patients are not fully met. Objective This study aims to determine the pain experienced by adult patients during the bloodletting procedure and to reveal the effect of visual and auditory methods on the level of pain compared to routine bloodletting procedures. Material and Method The study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial. The study was carried out in a blood collection unit of a hospital on 15.01.2022. A total of ninety-nine patients were randomized into three groups (visual, auditory, and control groups). Visual Group patients were asked to focus on the nature photograph on the screen, and the Auditory Group patients were asked to focus on the nature sounds they listened to. Data were collected using the Personal Information Form and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistical methods, KruskalWallis, Pearson Chi-Square, and Monte Carlo Exact Tests were used. The significance level was taken as p<0.05 and p<0.001. Results No statistically significant difference was found between the visual and auditory groups (p>0.05). However, the pain levels of the patients in the visual and auditory groups were found lower than the pain levels of the patients in the control group (p<0.001). Conclusion This study reveals the positive effect of distraction on the level of acute pain in adults. The study proves that visual and audial methods can be used safely within the scope of distraction methods and presents evidence-based information. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The study was conducted to investigate the comfort level in patients who underwent coronary artery bypass surgery. Methods: The study was conducted as a descriptive and crosssectional study. The sample of the study consisted of 240 patients who underwent coronary artery bypass graft surgery in the cardiovascular surgery service of a training and research hospital in Istanbul. The inclusion criteria comprised first time CABG surgery; age of 30-75; who agreed to participate in the study; having the ability to communicate; not under treatment for severe psychological and norological disorders. Written informed consent was obtained from each participant. Data were gathered with a questionnaire composed of questions about sociodemographic features, Perianesthesia Comfort Questionnaire, General Comfort Questionnaire, and State-Trait Anxiety Scales. For assessment of data; frequency, percentage, mean scores, Kruskal Wallis test and Mann Whitney-U test were benefited. The statistical significance was set at p value < 0.05. Results: The mean age of the patients was 58.58±7.71 years, 71.2% were male, 79.1% were primary school graduates, 68.8% were unemployed, 57.5% had sufficient monthly income to meet their health expenditures, and 61.2% smoked. It was determined that 62.60% of the patients had double and triple vessels coronary artery bypass graft surgery. In the study, total score of Perianesthesia Comfort Questionnaire was found as 143.40±22.26; General Comfort Questionnaire was found as 3.33 ± 0.24. It was determined that the state anxiety level was 31.05±6.80±6.80, the mean trait anxiety level score was 41.78±8.58±8.58. A statistically significant difference was found between the general comfort level and the number of bypass graft vessels(p<0.05). Conclusion: The perianesthesia and general comfort levels among the patients were high, their state anxiety was low and their trait anxiety was moderate. It can be said that qualified nursing care given to individuals undergoing CABG increases patient comfort. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
