Abstract: Pyrimidine is an aromatic and heterocyclic organic compound containing a 6-membered ring consisting of four carbon and two nitrogen atoms on alternative positions. Pyrimidine scaffolds described theirexistence inthe medicinal chemist’s cause for their synthesizing practicability and nonpoisonous nature. However, the reason behind neurological disorders is still an open challenge for scientific research and development organizations. Efficacy voids are widespread before researchers, despite high throughput research in the field of anti-Alzheimer's drugs.Researchers have constantly investigated all the probabilities for restraining the unwanted adverse effects of the anti-Alzheimer’s agents and are focusing more extensively to rehabilitate neurological disorders. The scientific literature on drug development has been an aspiration to medicinal chemists and other researchers to facilitate further research. Therefore, this review emphasizes the structure-activity relationship (SAR) based approach and the pharmacological advancements of pyrimidine moiety in the new era of therapeutics as anti-Alzheimer’s agents.

Cannabis sativa L. is an annual herbaceous dioecious plant which was first cultivated by agricultural human societies in Asia. Over the period of time, various parts of the plant like leaf, flower, and seed were used for recreational as well as therapeutic purposes. The main chemical components of Cannabis sativa are termed as cannabinoids, among them the key psychoactive constituent is Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol (CBD) as active nonpsychotic constituent. Upon doing extensive literature review, it was found that cannabis has been widely studied for a number of disorders. Very recently, a pure CBD formulation, named Epidiolex, got a green flag from both United States Food and Drug Administration and Drug Enforcement Administration for 2 rare types of epilepsies. This laid a milestone in medical cannabis research. This review intends to give a basic and extensive assessment, from past till present, of the ethnological, plant, chemical, pharmacological, and legal aspects of C. sativa. Further, this review contemplates the evidence the studies obtained of cannabis components on Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis, emesis, epilepsy, chronic pain, and cancer as a cytotoxic agent as well as a palliative therapy. The assessment in this study was done by reviewing in extensive details from studies on historical importance, ethnopharmacological aspects, and legal grounds of C. sativa from extensive literature available on the scientific databases, with a vision for elevating further pharmaceutical research to investigate its total potential as a therapeutic agent.

Silica coated NiFe2O4 NPs has been synthesized. It has been characterized by XRD, TEM, SEM-EDX and FT-IR. The catalytic activity of the Silica coated NiFe2O4 NPs has been tested for the S-arylation reaction in water with high yield. In this reaction water was used as the green solvent. The effects of solvents, reaction time and catalyst amount for the reaction was reported. This catalyst showed excellent catalytic activity and recyclability. The Silica coated NiFe2O4 NPs catalyst could be easily recovered by filtration and reused more than five times without appreciable loss of its initial activity.

The synthesis of prebiotic molecules from simple precursors is believed to be a crucial scheme in order to study the origin of life processes. The present study describes the one-pot synthesis of purine and pyrimidine nucleic acid bases in the presence of pre-biologically significant binary metal oxide nanoparticles, metal ferrites, namely NiFe2O4, CoFe2O4, CuFe2O4, ZnFe2O4 and MnFe2O4. The products identified are cytosine, isocytosine, 4(3H)-pyrimidinone, adenine, hypoxanthine and purine. The ability of isocytosine (a constitutional isomer of cytosine) to recognize cytosine and guanine through normal and reversed Watson-Crick pairing respectively, demonstrates an important storyline for the genesis of ancient nucleic acids. The relevance of other synthesized nucleic acid bases with respect to the origin of life is also discussed. The divalent metal ions in iron oxide make it an appropriate catalytic system because it demonstrates excellent catalytic performance for the nucleic acid bases synthesis with significantly high yield, as compared to pure iron oxide and some other minerals like silica, alumina, manganese oxides and double metal cyanide complexes.

A soft template (Brij-35) controlled nitrogen-doped mesoporous carbon material (N-GMC) was prepared from glucose as a carbon source and melamine as a nitrogen source. The synthesized material was characterized by XRD, SEM, HRTEM, XPS, and Raman spectroscopy and nitrogen adsorption and desorption isotherms. Nitrogen enriches carbon material with high surface area and porous channel showed high CO2 fixation reaction at low temperature and ambient pressure. Excellent catalytic activity and reusability showed towards cyclic carbonate synthesis from various epoxides under metal free condition.

Ruthenium nanoparticles embedded on a mesoporous poly-melamine-formaldehyde material (Ru@mPMF) has been synthesized and characterized by powder XRD, HRTEM, TGA, SEM, EDS, UV–vis diffuse reflection spectroscopy (DRS), Raman spectroscopy, XPS and N 2 adsorption/desorption study. The Ru@mPMF catalyst was excellent for selective oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5-diformylfuran (DFF) in toluene. Moreover, this catalyst is easily recoverable and it is reusable upto six cycles without notable decrease in its catalytic activity. Profoundly scattered and firmly bound Ru-NPs sites in mPMF might be engaged for the excellent performance of the material. Due to strong binding with the functional groups of the polymer, no indication of ruthenium leaching was there during the reaction. This suggests the actual heterogeneous nature of the material.

A nitrogen doped mesoporous carbon material was synthesized from glucose and melamine under hydrothermal treatment. A soft template, Brij-35 was used as a template. A nitrogen containing high surface area and porous channels makes this material an important support for palladium nanoparticles as well as a carbon dioxide capturing agent. Ethylene glycol was used as a reducing agent for the palladium nanoparticle synthesis. The palladium nanoparticle embedded porous nitrogen doped carbon material (Pd@N-GMC) was used for the synthesis of benzyl alcohols from aryl iodides via carbon dioxide fixation reaction. The catalyst was highly stable and reusable without any significance loss of its activity.

The understanding of the interaction between nucleic acid components and mineral surface is of significant importance in respect to chemical evolution and the origin of life issue. Spinel ferrites are compounds with high magnetic properties and are found in the Earth’s crust, upper mantle and meteorites. Trevorite is a well-known spinel metal ferrite (NiFe2O4) found in Orgueil meteorite, Soltmany meteorite and also recently discovered in Khatyrka meteorite. No studies seem to have been done using such compounds in respect of chemical evolution. Herein the results of work on the interaction of ribonucleic acid constituents, 5′-CMP, 5′-UMP, 5′-GMP and 5′-AMP, with spinel ferrite nanoparticles (NiFe2O4, CoFe2O4, CuFe2O4, and MnFe2O4) in the concentration range of 1.0 × 10−4 M to 4.0 × 10−4 M at three different pHs (4.0, 7.0 and 9.0) have been reported. The maximum percent binding was found at pH 4.0 for all the ribonucleotides studied. Nickel ferrite (NiFe2O4) showed a higher percent binding (82–97%) while manganese ferrite (MnFe2O4) exhibited the lowest (34–67%) adsorption affinity for all ribonucleotides. Experimental results showed the participation of different functional groups (amine, phosphate and carbonyl) of nucleotides in the binding process, which is in good agreement with previous mineral–nucleotide interaction studies. The adsorption capacity of ribonucleotides on spinel ferrites was found to be higher as compared to some previously studied metal oxides such as zinc oxide (ZnO), manganese oxides (MnO, Mn2O3, Mn3O4 and MnO2), and acidic, neutral and basic alumina.

Ribonucleotides (RMPs) are the building blocks of genetic material consisting of a sugar group, a phosphate group and a nucleobase. Prussian blue (PB) is an ancient compound which is supposed to have formed under the conditions of primitive Earth. The interaction between nucleotides and mineral surfaces is of primary importance in the context of prebiotic chemistry. In the present work, the adsorption of RMPs on PB has been studied in the concentration range 0.4 × 10−4–3.0 × 10−4 M of RMPs at pH 7.5, T = 27°C and found to be 53.1, 41.7, 25.8 and 24.0% for adenosine 5′-monophosphate (5′-AMP), guanosine 5′-monophosphate, cytidine 5′-monophosphate and uridine 5′-monophosphate, respectively. Optimum conditions for the adsorption were studied as a function of concentration, time, amount of adsorbent and pH and data obtained were found to fit the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Langmuir constants (KL and Xm) values were calculated. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, field-emission scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometry techniques were used to investigate the interaction of RMPs on PB surface. Adsorption kinetics of 5′-AMP on PB has been found to be pseudo-second order. Results obtained from this study should prove valuable for a better understanding of the mechanism of RMP–PB interaction.

Interaction of ribonucleotides with zinc ferrite nanoparticles (∼15 nm) prepared by the sol–gel method was studied at physiological pH (∼7.0). Ultra-violet (UV–Vis), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were employed to investigate the interaction of ribonucleotides with zinc ferrite surface. Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models were used to describe the equilibrium isotherms in the concentration range of 1.0 × 10−4 M−4.0 × 10−4 M of ribonucleotides. The maximum adsorption capacity determined for 5′-GMP, 5′-AMP, 5′-UMP, 5′-CMP was 22.37 mg/g, 17.42 mg/g, 16.03 mg/g and 14.03 mg/g, respectively. Langmuir model was found to show the best fit for experimental data. Adsorption kinetics were studied by pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order kinetic models, and the adsorption process was best described by the pseudo-second order kinetic model. FE-SEM images clearly showed that ribonucleotide adheres onto the zinc ferrite nanoparticles surface. AFM analysis demonstrated that the root mean square roughness (Rms, Sq) and average roughness (Sa) increased from 0.98 nm to 1.80 and 0.67 nm–1.38 nm, respectively following exposure to ribonucleotide. FT-IR spectroscopy revealed that the zinc ferrite nanoparticles interact strongly with the phosphate, carbonyl and amino groups of ribonucleotides. Raman spectra of 5′-AMP-zinc ferrite adduct showed the participation of amino and a phosphate group with zinc ferrite nanoparticles surface.

A new polymer supported Ru(III) complex has been synthesized and characterized. The catalytic performance of the complex has been tested for the first time azide–alkyne cycloaddition reaction in water and transfer-hydrogenation reaction of ketones in open air. 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles were obtained in excellent yields from azides and terminal alkynes in aqueous medium in the presence of the above catalyst. Aromatic ketones have been converted to their corresponding alcohols using the polymer supported Ru(III) catalyst. The effects of solvents, reaction time, catalyst amount for the azide–alkyne cycloaddition reaction and transfer-hydrogenation reaction were studied. This catalyst showed excellent catalytic activity and recyclability. The polymer supported Ru(III) catalyst could be easily recovered by filtration and reused more than five times without appreciable loss of its initial activity. There was no evidence of leached Ru from the catalyst during the course of reaction has been observed, suggesting true heterogeneity in the catalytic process.

A mesoporous organosilica grafted palladium(II) catalyst was synthesized and characterized using various spectroscopic techniques. Its catalytic activity was evaluated for the synthesis of tertiary butyl esters via tert-butoxycarbonylation of boronic acid derivatives. The tertiary butyl esters were obtained directly from boronic acid pinacol esters and di-tert-butyl dicarbonate. The reaction was optimized by varying the bases, temperatures and solvents. The catalyst was very stable and could be facilely recovered and reused six times with no significant decrease in its activity and selectivity.

A nitrogen-rich mesoporous organic polymer was synthesized as a novel support. A silver nanoparticle was synthesized and grafted onto it. The prepared catalyst (AgNPs@mPMF) was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), N2 adsorption, Raman spectroscopy and EPR study. The catalytic activity was evaluated for the oxidative esterification reaction of alcohols and hydration of nitriles. The oxidative esterification reaction was carried out for various activated alcohols giving excellent yields of the corresponding ester products. The catalyst was also efficient in the hydration of nitriles. Both reactions were optimized by varying the bases, temperatures and solvents. The catalyst can be facilely recovered and reused six times without a significant decrease in its activity and selectivity.

The amino acid condensation reaction on a heterogeneous mineral surface has been regarded as one of the important pathways for peptide bond formation. Keeping this in view, we have studied the oligomerization of the simple amino acids, glycine and alanine, on nickel ferrite (NiFe2O4), cobalt ferrite (CoFe2O4), copper ferrite (CuFe2O4), zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4), and manganese ferrite (MnFe2O4) nanoparticles surfaces, in the temperature range from 50–120 °C for 1–35 days, without applying any wetting/drying cycles. Among the metal ferrites tested for their catalytic activity, NiFe2O4 produced the highest yield of products by oligomerizing glycine to the trimer level and alanine to the dimer level, whereas MnFe2O4 was the least efficient catalyst, producing the lowest yield of products, as well as shorter oligomers of amino acids under the same set of experimental conditions. It produced primarily diketopiperazine (Ala) with a trace amount of alanine dimer from alanine condensation, while glycine was oligomerized to the dimer level. The trend in product formation is in accordance with the surface area of the minerals used. A temperature as low as 50 °C can even favor peptide bond formation in the present study, which is important in the sense that the condensation process is highly feasible without any sort of localized heat that may originate from volcanoes or hydrothermal vents. However, at a high temperature of 120 °C, anhydrides of glycine and alanine formation are favored, while the optimum temperature for the highest yield of product formation was found to be 90 °C.

Polymer anchored cobalt(II) catalyst was synthesized and characterized. The solid catalyst was characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The catalytic activity of the complex was investigated for the oxidative functionalization of alkyl aromatics to benzylic ketones using O 2 (1 atm) with 1 mmol H 2 O 2 . The oxidation of organic compounds with carbon–carbon double bond with molecular oxygen under atmospheric pressure in the presence of this catalyst has also been studied. Oxidation of alkenes, cycloalkenes and terpenes gave corresponding epoxy derivatives. The developed catalyst can be facilely recovered and reused six times without significant decrease in its activity and selectivity.

The catalytically active complex [Ru(PS-imd)(CO)2Cl2] (PS-imd = polystyrene anchored imidazole) was synthesized and characterized using various spectroscopic techniques. The complex is well characterized and highly stable. The catalytic activity of the resulting species was investigated towards the synthesis of diphenyl urea and other disubstituted ureas. The experiments were carried out under high CO pressure, high temperature condition in mild coordinating media. The catalyst was found to produce excellent yields with high product selectivity. Variable yields are obtained depending on the substituent on nitrobenzene and aniline. The effects of co-solvent and co-catalyst were also studied. The catalyst was very stable and could be reused for more than five times without any noticeable loss of its catalytic activity.

Polymer anchored oxovanadium catalyst was synthesized and characterized. Its catalytic activity was evaluated for the oxidation of various primary and secondary alcohols with molecular oxygen under mild reaction conditions. This catalyst was also effective for the oxidative bromination reaction of organic substrates with 90–100% selectivity of mono substituted products with H 2 O 2 /KBr at room temperature. The above reactions require low temperature, short time period and most importantly all the above reactions occur in aqueous medium. The developed catalyst can be facilely recovered and reused six times without significant decrease in activity and selectivity.

A new mesoporous poly-melamine-formaldehyde material supported Pd nano catalyst (mPMF–Pd0) has been synthesized and characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), UV-vis diffuse reflection spectroscopy (DRS), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and a N2 adsorption study. The mPMF–Pd0 material showed very good catalytic activity in the field of mono and double amino carbonylation of aryl bromides/iodides. Moreover, the catalyst is easily recoverable and can be reused six times without appreciable loss of catalytic activity in the above reactions. So, the highly dispersed and strongly bound palladium(0) sites in the mPMF–Pd0 could be responsible for the observed high activities. Due to strong binding with the functional groups of the polymer, no evidence of leached Pd from the catalyst during the course of reaction occurred, suggesting true heterogeneity in the catalytic process.

A green route was successfully used to synthesize some manganese oxides (MO) nanoparticles like MnO2, Mn2O3 and Mn3O4 with varied Mn/O ratio. This approach involved utilization of Sapindus mukorossi (raw reetha)–water as a natural surfactant–solvent system. The most important feature of present work was that during the synthesis of nanoparticles, no harmful toxic solvent or chemicals were used in order to follow the principles of green chemistry. The size of nanoparticles was recorded below 100 nm with different shapes and morphologies. MnO2 nanoparticles were found to have needle shape, Mn2O3: spherical and Mn3O4: cubic shape. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The synthesized MO nanoparticles were found to act as a solid support cum catalysts for the oxidation and polymerization of some aromatic amines like p-anisidine, p-toluidine, p-chloroaniline and aniline.

In Fiji, assessment has always been guided by curriculum through examination and tests which merely enclosed students’ aptitude of recalling conception skills. Supplementary categories of skills like application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation are barely incorporated in the traditional appraisal. Some of the indispensable qualities are not included in the customary assessment system. This makes learners rely extremely on their memorization skill leading them to become helpless, deficient required excellence to contribute fruitfully to the society. The government of Fiji has a sensible vision for the stipulation of its education organization and has impartially arbitrated the Class-Based Assessment (CBA) aspirant for learners’ holistic development. CBA has been implemented in secondary schools in 2009, through a pilot project. This research reveals the current status of the implemented assessment scheme through a study of a group of teachers of secondary schools and CBA resource personnel’s from the Ministry of Education. It discusses the issues emerging from the arguments of the scholars regarding CBA and its potentiality in Fiji. Despite the popularity and wide acceptance of Class-Based assessment in the western countries and Fiji itself it has often been criticized for several reasons, most of them related to the utilitarian perspective and related ethical considerations. CBA seems to be very difficult to maintain within the stipulated time of teaching. It is difficult for the teachers to switch from summative assessment to formative one as it seems an extra assessment together with a final examination.

Ag nanoparticles (NPs) has been supported over a porous Co(II)-salicylate metal-organic framework to yield a new nanocatalyst AgNPs/Co-MOF and it has been thoroughly characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), UV-vis diffuse reflection spectroscopy (DRS) and N2 adsorption/desorption analysis. The AgNPs/Co-MOF material showed high catalytic activity in the carboxylation of terminal alkynes via CO2 fixation reaction to yield alkynyl carboxylic acids under very mild conditions. Due to the presence of highly reactive AgNPs bound at the porous MOF framework the reaction proceeded smoothly at 1atm CO2 pressure. Moreover, the catalyst is very convenient to handle and it can be reused for several reaction cycles without appreciable loss of catalytic activity in this CO2 fixation reaction, which suggested a promising future of AgNPs/Co-MOF nanocatalyst.

The catalytic activity of the newly synthesized catalyst is evaluated for the synthesis of tertiary butyl esters via tert-butoxycarbonylation of boronic acid derivatives.

The polymer anchored ruthenium catalyst can be easily recovered by filtration and reused for six consecutive cycles with consistent catalytic activity.

11 Disubstituted ureas are prepared by the ruthenium(II)-catalyzed reaction of CO, nitrobenzenes and amines.

A new copper-grafted mesoporous poly-melamine-formaldehyde (Cu-mPMF) has been synthesized from melamine and paraformaldehyde in DMSO medium, followed by grafting of Cu(II) at its surface. Cu-mPMF has been characterized by elemental analysis, powder XRD, HR TEM, FE-SEM, N2 adsorption study, FT-IR, UV-vis DRS, TGA-DTA, EPR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The Cu-grafted mesoporous material showed very good catalytic activity in methyl esterification of benzylic alcohols and amidation of nitriles. Moreover, the catalyst is easily recoverable and can be reused seven times without appreciable loss of catalytic activity in the above reactions. The highly dispersed and strongly bound Cu(II) sites in the Cu-grafted mesoporous polymer could be responsible for the observed high activities of the Cu-mPMF catalyst. Due to strong binding with the functional groups of the polymer, no evidence of leached copper from the catalyst during the course of reaction emerged, suggesting true heterogeneity in the catalytic process.

Based on the hypothesis on the presence of double metal cyanides in the primeval seas and their role as prebiotic catalyst, adsorption of RNA components, 5I„-GMP, 5I„-AMP, 5I„-CMP and 5I„-UMP on metal(II) hexacyanocobaltate(III) (MHCCo; M=Mn, Fe, Ni, Zn) has been investigated. The adsorption data obtained at neutral pH were found to follow Langmuir adsorption in the concentration range 1.0 × 10-4 M to 3.0 × 10-4 M. The value of Langmuir constants, Xm and KL were calculated from the slope and intercept of the respective isotherms. On the basis of infrared (IR) spectral studies of ribonucleotides, MHHCo, and ribonucleotides-MHCCo adducts, we propose that the nitrogen base, carbonyl and phosphate moiety of ribose nucleotides interact with the outer divalent metal ion of the MHCCo. A higher affinity as well as larger amount of adsorption of all the four ribonucleotides was found on the surface of FeHCCo, having a surface area of 238.67 m2/g. Based on our finding, it is proposed that surface area of MHCCos plays an important role in ribonucleotides adsorption by MHCCos. Among nucleotides studied adsorption affinity of 5I„-AMP was found maximum.

Background: In the present times, arsenic poisoning contamination in the ground water has caused lots of health-related problems in the village population residing in middle Gangetic plain. In Bihar, about 16 districts have been reported to be affected with arsenic poisoning. For the ground water and health assessment, Simri village of Buxar district was undertaken which is a flood plain region of river Ganga. Methods: In this study, 322 water samples were collected for arsenic estimation, and their results were analyzed. Furthermore, the correlation between arsenic contamination in ground water with depth and its distance from river Ganga were analyzed. Results are presented as mean ± standard deviation and total variation present in a set of data was analyzed through one-way analysis of variance. The difference among mean values has been analyzed by applying Dunnett′s test. The criterion for statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. Results: This study shows novel findings ever done in this area. Halwa Patti and Doodhi Patti strips were the most affected strips with high-arsenic concentration in hand pumps. Furthermore, a correlation between the arsenic concentration with the depth of the hand pumps and the distance from the river Ganga was also a significant study. Conclusions: The present study concludes that in Simri village there is high contamination of arsenic in ground water in all the strips. Such a huge population is at very high risk leading the village on the verge of causing health hazards among them. Therefore, an immediate strategy is required to combat the present problem.

Incidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is 2–10 times more in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected persons than non-HIV cohort. Risk factors involved with DVT in HIV-infected patients are age older than 45 years, use of protease inhibitor in highly active antiretroviral therapy (ART), most common indinavir, hospitalization and presence of AIDS-defining opportunistic infections such as cytomegalovirus, Pneumocystis jiroveci (is a yeast like fungus particularly in immune-compromised host), and Mycobacterium-intracellular. Others well known thrombogenic risk factors include are such as immobility, cigarette smoking, advanced age, pregnancy, pelvic surgery, and personal or family history of DVT may be absent in HIV-infected patients presenting with DVT. Inflammation and venous thrombosis are related to each other, and the associations between them are strong when the inflammation or the infection has occurred recently, or the inflammation is active. A 29-year-old HIV-positive soldier on first line ART with poor adherence presented with fever pain abdomen and diarrhea and was diagnosed to have an enteric fever with immunological and clinical failure. He was treated for enteric fever but during treatment of enteric fever he complains of painful left lower limb swelling after 4 weeks and was suspect to have DVT of left lower limb based on Doppler studies. After confirmation of DVT by Doppler images, thrombolytic therapy was started, and gradually improvement was seen in the condition. Recent Infection or inflammation has a strong association with the development of thrombosis in HIV-positive patients, absent with classical predisposing factors of DVT. Physicians involved in the care of HIV-positive patients should be aware of this condition and the associated aggravating risk factors in them so as to provide timely management.
