Due to various environmental degradation and natural resource depletion around the world, researchers' and policymakers' attention has turned to what causes environmental degradation. The pursuit of a healthy environment has become a global challenge, a problem that affects more than one nation. Climate change is causing severe weather conditions in every world, disrupting economies and affecting the lives of many people. Hence, the study analyzes how trade and economic growth impact environmental degradation in Belgium, the USA, and Canada using panel data from 1995 to 2016. The study utilized the autoregressive distributed lag approach to provide new evidence and policy implications. The outcome confirmed the presence of cointegration among the selected variables. However, it was observed that economic growth decreases environmental degradation in the long run while trade openness shows a positively insignificant relationship with carbon emission. Nevertheless, a positive short-run relationship was observed between economic growth and carbon emissions whereas a negatively insignificant relationship was observed for trade and carbon emission. The findings prompted policy implications that more trading could be done between the countries. When countries trade more, their economies will flourish, ensuring global prosperity and minimizing environmental degradation., (© 2021. International investment is needed in every economy, and every economy is expected to grow and attract investment. Despite the need of the above in every country, the dilemma is whether it has something to do with the environment. Hence the study into the impact of FDI on environment takes into consideration twenty African countries from 1995 to 2016. The study utilized Pesaran (2015) LM test, Pesaran (2007) CD, and Breusch and Pagan (1980) LM test as well as Pesaran (2007) and Im et al. (2003) panel root unit test, Westerlund (2007) test, Driscoll-Kraay OLS, average mean group (AMG), fully modified least square (FM-OLS), and the quantile regression (QR). The study indicated that foreign direct investment favorably impact ecological sustainability in the long run. The study found bi-directional link between income and CO 2 pollution. Clean energy and urbanization were found to have negative impact on the economy, while fossil fuel had positive impact on the economy. Both clean energy and urbanization were found to have bi-directional relationship with CO 2 pollution, but fossil fuel has uni-directional relationship with pollution. The study prompted a lot of policy recommendation such as in the interest of reducing ecological harm; these countries' authorities could enforce the laws in the form of protecting ecology policies when dealing with international investment., (© 2021. This research work examines the nexus among renewable, non-renewable energy consumption, CO 2 emissions, and economic growth in 26 European countries with data obtained from the World Bank database within the time period of 1990 to 2018. Firstly, unit root and panel cointegration approach analyses are conducted to test the stationary. The results indicate that there exists a long-run nexus among non-renewable, renewable energy, carbon-monoxide, and economic growth. Granger causality test was also used to explore the direction among economic growth, carbon emissions, and energy consumption. The results from this test are inconsistent, while it indicated bidirectional causality between economic growth and renewable energy consumption, there was also a unidirectional causality between renewable energy and non-renewable energy consumption as well as renewable energy and CO 2 emissions. This result proves an interdependency and substitutability between both renewable and non-renewable sources of energy.
