PurposeArtificial intelligence (AI) applications’ usage in Chief Officers’ (CXOs’) decision-making is a topic of current research interest. A fundamental dilemma is carefully planning an effective combination of a CXO’s professional experiences and AI applications’ decision-making responsibility. However, the existing literature fails to specify the value of co-creation of AI applications and the human experience in managerial decision-making. To address this gap in the literature, the authors’ examine how an ideal cognitive-technology fit can be created between human experiences and AI-based solutions at CXO-level decision-making using the theoretical lens of the Service-Dominant Logic.Design/methodology/approachThe authors’ employed a grounded theory approach and conducted a focus group discussion with seven participants to shed light on the factors that may balance AI applications’ usage and CXOs’ experience in making business decisions. This was followed by 21 in-depth interviews with employees from knowledge-intensive professional service firms to validate the findings further of a new phenomenon. Further, given the newness of the phenomenon, this approach allowed researchers a retrospective and real-time understanding of interviewees’ experiences of the phenomenon under consideration.FindingsThe advantages and constraints of both CXOs’ experiences and AI applications deserve due consideration for successfully implementing technology in knowledge-intensive professional service organizations.Research limitations/implicationsThis study may appeal to researchers and practitioners interested in the future of decision-making, as the authors’ study findings advocate for balancing CXO’s expertise and the use of AI in decision-making.Originality/valueBased on the preliminary findings, the authors developed a theoretical framework to understand the factors that govern AI implementation in an organization and how a competitive strategy may emerge from value co-created by AI applications and CXOs’ experience, particularly in knowledge-intensive professional service firms.

PurposeEmotional intelligence (EI) is a critical component of leadership that reflects the ability of leaders to understand how their emotions and actions affect the people around them in the organization. This paper aims to deliver state-of-the-art insights on EI and leadership.Design/methodology/approachThis paper leverages on bibliometric analysis to unpack 25 years of EI and leadership research.FindingsThis paper reveals the bibliometric profile (e.g. trends in publication activity and top articles, authors, countries and journals) and intellectual structure (e.g. themes and topics) of EI and leadership research, shedding light on EI manifestation in leadership, EI and leadership congruence, EI role in leadership and EI and leadership for human resource management.Research limitations/implicationsThis paper offers several noteworthy implications. First, EI is a leadership competency that can be cultivated and leveraged to improve leadership effectiveness. Second, the need for EI and leadership congruence indicates that leadership effectiveness is vital to human resource management (HRM). Taken collectively, these theoretical implications, and by extension, practical implications, suggest that increased investment in EI and leadership effectiveness is critical for organizations and their HRM.Originality/valueThis paper sheds light on current trends and ways forward for leading by feeling, showcasing the role and manifestation of EI in leadership, its value for HRM and the importance of its congruence for effective leadership in shaping the future of work.

Introduction and Aim: Prostate is one of the commonest sites of malignancy affecting elderly male population & is increasingly becoming a significant public health issue especially in countries having aging population. We hypothesized that altered levels of adiponectin-leptins may be an underlying connection between incidence of prostate cancer (PCa) and aged matched males. Materials and Methods: This study was designed to comparatively corelate circulating serum levels of adiponectin & leptin in 160 elderly patients with PCa to their serum levels in 160 healthy controls. The age and body mass index in all groups were dissimilar in case and control. Based on the Gleason score of 7, =7 >7, patients were further subdivided into low, intermediate, high grades of PCa, respectively. Results: No significant statistical variance was identified in terms of age, Body mass index (BMI), Radom blood glucose, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, total cholesterol, creatinine, and BUN levels within the compared groups. This century has been proclaimed the Asian century, as industrialised countries such as Japan, Singapore, and South Korea, along with rapidly emerging nations such China and India, have contributed to worldwide economic growth. In response, research has analysed the reasons why Asian business and management have found such success. Based on a bibliometric analysis of Asian Business & Management (ABM), a premier journal devoted to Asian management, here we examine the performance of the research constituents, social structure, and intellectual structure of 331 scholarly papers, which sheds light on the growing influence of ABM through six major knowledge clusters: corporate social responsibility; business management in emerging markets; corporate governance; internationalization; political and business ties; and organization culture and performance. Temporal analysis reveals the emergence of strategy and human resource management as a distinct knowledge cluster and the increasing importance of China as a research context and producer. Based on this analysis, we propose future research directions.

In this paper, we respond to the calls for context-specific scholarship and research on human resource management (HRM) in Asia. We provide an overview of and key insights into HRM in five Asian countries, representing five key regions: China (East Asia), India (South Asia), Kazakhstan (Central Asia), United Arab Emirates (West Asia), and Vietnam (Southeast Asia). Based on our comprehensive, pan-Asian review, we develop a reflective, comparative, and relational understanding of HRM practices. In doing so, we group the myriad contextual influences on the shaping of HRM practices at three broad levels: macro-, meso-, and microlevel influences. Specifically, we propose that influences from regionalization of economies, national business systems, industry, multinational enterprises, and individual-level predispositions collectively shape and variously influence the nature and extent of HRM practices. By considering the findings of prior research on convergence and divergence, we offer a nuanced perspective wherein each country and region in Asia possesses a distinct amalgam of national business systems, and where HRM practices respond to multilevel influences in varied ways.

This paper explores the extent to which SMEs can adapt and develop circular economy practices in an emerging market context. Since the evidence provided by the literature is mostly based on large firms operating in developed countries, our focus on India's indigenous Ayurveda industry allows a much-needed and nuanced lens through which to view circular economy activities. We use a two-step research design involving a systematic bibliometric analysis as a first step in the highlighting of numerous themes emanating from the circular economy literature. Second, we complement these insights with two case studies based on SMEs in the Indian Ayurveda industry. Our findings reveal that SMEs engage and contribute to the circular economy. More specifically, we present unique insights into the reasons, drivers, and motivations for SME involvement in the circular economy, wherein we observe a blending of indigenous practices and modern technology. Our findings allow us to propose several important implications for theory and practice.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to review the role of knowledge-sharing and its association with the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). TPB is the most used theory in understanding knowledge-sharing behavior in many contexts. Design/methodology/approach Based on the bibliometric approach, this study extracted and analyzed 229 journal articles on the Web of Science. In addition, two analyses (bibliographic coupling and co-word) were performed to provide science mapping in presenting the knowledge structure on the present and future research direction on knowledge-sharing and TPB. Findings The findings of this study suggest that two stand-out clusters are determinants and antecedents of knowledge-sharing behavior based on TPB and the role of the virtual platform and social media in facilitating knowledge-sharing among users. Research limitations/implications This study will benefit researchers and scholars in studying individual behavioral traits underpinning TPB in achieving organizational excellence. Originality/value This study extends the findings of the previous review because of their limitations on methods. This study confirms the determinants of knowledge-sharing intention and behavior. However, this study suggests integrating TPB with other theories to provide more insights into knowledge-sharing behavior and use online and technology-based platforms to facilitate knowledge-sharing behavior.

ZSI is being used to alleviate a myriad of issues that VSI and CSI have. The purpose of this work is to investigate an impedance source inverter (ZSI) and the analysis of its steady state in a range of different operating conditions. The shoot-through control approach that is utilized to generate pulses that are sent to semiconductor switches is directly related to the output voltage of the ZSI. Among the several techniques that can be used, the one that involves the least amount of complexity is the one that is used here. Voltage boosting and ZSI operation of the converter are only required when the input from the solar panel is low, because the dc input from the panel is not always stable; typical PWM inverter activities will be carried out by this device. The triggering pulses are generated by bringing the input sinusoidal and triangular waves on the same graph Modeling a basic boost controller using MATLAB/SIMULINK is performed., and the outcomes of both conditions are investigated.

PurposeA growing number of international travellers have influenced how hotels manage their customer satisfaction reviews and ratings. This study examines the influence of knowledge sharing on employee service quality and customer satisfaction in the hotel industry. Another purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating effect of artificial intelligence (AI) system quality on the relationship between knowledge sharing on employee service quality and customer satisfaction.Design/methodology/approachThe research design was developed using the positivism approach and quantitative method. Data were collected via a self-administered survey from Vietnamese hotels that used AI systems in employees' work tasks. Three hundred and fifty pairs of questionnaires for frontline employees and customers were collected and used for the data analysis. Structural equation modelling was accessed to examine the framework model.FindingsThis research shows that the increase of knowledge sharing behaviours significantly influenced customer perceptions of employees' service quality. Furthermore, employee service quality positively affected customer satisfaction. An indirect impact of knowledge sharing on customer satisfaction via employee service quality was found. AI system quality moderated the effect of knowledge sharing on employee service quality whereby the higher the AI system quality, the stronger the impact of knowledge sharing on employee service quality. Therefore, a moderated mediation of employee service quality was found in examining the relationship between knowledge sharing and customer satisfaction.Research limitations/implicationsThis study's findings direct hotel knowledge management and marketing strategies to attract international customers. The study provides hotel managers with directions to increase customer satisfaction to create a competitive advantage in international marketing strategies.Originality/valueThis study's distinctive contribution lies in examining the phenomenon of employee service quality at the intersection of knowledge sharing and customer satisfaction and the use of AI systems from an emerging market context. Furthermore, the moderation role of AI quality has rarely been explored.
