✓ The techniques of radioisotope encephalo-cisternography (REC) and encephalo-ventriculography (REV) permit integrated and essentially simultaneous dual color visualization of the conventional brain scan and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) scan. Sequential scintiphotos of the brain and CSF distribution of two radiopharmaceuticals were obtained with the use of a pulse height analyzer by taking advantage of the difference in their photopeaks. The patient was kept in the same position during the two sequential procedures. The two scintiphotos were then superimposed and integrated by one of two simple photographic color conversion methods. Valuable information is obtained by these two techniques, particularly for the evaluation of the relative size of the CSF cavities and the brain substance, and for the differentiation of extra- from intracerebral endocranial lesions.
