Abstract

This paper presents a new approach for the automatic license plate recognition, which includes the SIFT algorithm in step to locate the plate in the input image. In this new approach, besides the comparison of the features obtained with the SIFT algorithm, the correspondence between the spatial orientations and the positioning associated with the keypoints is also observed. Afterwards, an algorithm is used for the character recognition of the plates, very fast, which makes it possible its application in real time. The results obtained with the proposed approach presented very good success rates, so much for locating the characters in the input image, as for their recognition.

Abstract

Anomaly detection based on Kittler's Taxonomy (ADS-KT) has emerged as a powerful strategy for identifying and categorizing patterns that exhibit unexpected behaviors, being useful for monitoring environmental disasters and mapping their consequences in satellite images. However, the presence of clouds in images limits the analysis process. This article investigates the impact of associating ADS-KT with image editing, mainly to help machines learn how to extend the mapping of polluted water bodies to areas occluded by clouds. Our methodology starts by applying ADS-KT to two images from the same geographic region, where one image has meaningfully more overlay contamination by cloud cover than the other. Ultimately, the methodology applies an image editing technique to reconstruct areas occluded by clouds in one image based on non-occluded areas from the other image. The results of 99.62% accuracy, 74.53% precision, 94.05% recall, and 83.16% F-measure indicate that this study stands out among the best of the state-of-the-art approaches. Therefore, we conclude that the association of ADS-KT with image editing showed promising results in extending the mapping of polluted water bodies by a machine to occluded areas. Abstract

OBJETIVOS: Avaliar se os ângulos de amplitude da flexão e abdução de ombro, nos movimentos realizados durante uma simulação da tarefa do corte de cana-de-açúcar, ultrapassam os limites considerados seguros. MÉTODOS: Foram realizadas simulações controladas não randomizadas do movimento do corte de cana-de-açúcar em voluntários recrutados entre estudantes universitários. Os critérios de inclusão foram (a) sexo masculino; (b) idade entre 21 e 40 anos; (c) destro; (d) sem alterações ortopédicas e/ou neurológicas; (e) características físicas e histórico de atividades laborais semelhantes às dos cortadores de cana; (f) atividade física aeróbica pelo menos três vezes por semana nos últimos seis meses. Os critérios de exclusão foram (a) presença de dor durante os testes; e (b) incapacidade de realizar o movimento. O estudo foi realizado no laboratório de biomecânica ocupacional do Núcleo de Estudo e Pesquisa em Ergonomia da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Estadual Paulista. Os dados cinemáticos foram coletados pelo Sistema de Análise de Movimento Tridimensional Vicon®. As aberturas em flexão e abdução do ombro direito foram medidas e classificadas. Os parâmetros utilizados para avaliar os resultados tiveram como referência o documento do Ministério da Saúde que sintetiza os limites seguros de amplitude desses movimentos RESULTADOS: Foram avaliados 10 sujeitos, com média de idade de 24,5±4,78 anos. Foram analisadas 39 coletas obtidas com repetições dos movimentos durante um período médio de 30 segundos. O ângulo de abertura do ombro em flexão permaneceu acima de 30 graus por 98,18% do tempo de execução da tarefa, acima de 45 graus por 88,84%, acima de 60 graus por 42,19% e acima de 90 graus por 7,72% do tempo. O ângulo de abdução permaneceu acima de 60 graus por 100% e acima de 90 graus por 57,59% do tempo. Nos picos de amplitude de movimento observaram-se aberturas em abdução com ângulos superiores a 100 graus. CONCLUSÕES: Durante a maior parte do tempo dos experimentos que simularam o movimento de corte de cana-de-açúcar, os ângulos de flexão e abdução do ombro estiveram acima dos considerados seguros, indicando que a atividade realizada por cortadores de cana-de-açúcar possui um forte potencial para causar danos à articulação dos ombros

27. UTILIZAÇÃO DE ALVOS CODIFICADOS DO TIPO ARUCO NA AUTOMAÇÃO DO PROCESSO DE CALIBRAÇÃO DE CÂMARAS

Abstract

Este trabalho apresenta uma proposta para a automatização do processo de calibração de câmaras usando a localização e medição de pontos em alvos codificados, com precisão subpixel, o que contribui para minimizar os erros de localização, independente da orientação da câmara e da escala da imagem. Para alcançar este objetivo foram analisados os alvos codificados mais relevantes na literatura, sendo escolhido o padrão ARUCO, devido à sua flexibilidade, capacidade para representar até 1.024 alvos diferentes e disponibilidade de código fonte, implementado com a biblioteca OpenCV, que garante simplicidade de implementação e alta confiabilidade. Após a geração dos alvos com o padrão ARUCO, foram criados os painéis usados para a aquisição das imagens empregadas na calibração da câmara. O programa desenvolvido foi usado para localizar os alvos nas imagens e extrair automaticamente as coordenadas dos quatro cantos, com precisão subpixel. Os experimentos realizados mostraram que a maioria dos alvos foi identificada corretamente. Os resultados do experimento com a calibração de uma câmara de baixo custo mostraram que o processo funciona e que a precisão das medidas dos cantos atinge o nível subpixel. This paper presents a proposal for the automation of the camera calibration process, locating and measuring image points in coded targets with sub-pixel precision. This automatic technique helps minimize localization errors, regardless of camera orientation and image scale. To develop this technique, several types of coded targets were analyzed and the ARUCO type was chosen due to its simplicity, ability to represent up to 1024 different targets and availability of source code implemented with the OpenCV library. ARUCO targets were generated and two calibration sheets were assembled to be used for the acquisition of images for camera calibration. The developed software can locate targets in the acquired images and it automatically extracts the coordinates of the four corners with sub- pixel accuracy. Experiments were conducted with real data showing that the targets are correctly identified unless excessive noise or fragmentation occurs mainly in the outer target square. The results with the calibration of a low cost camera showed that the process works and that the measurement accuracy of the corners achieves sub-pixel precision.

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2009-08-04 This work presents a study on the generation of digital masks aiming at edge detection with previously known directions. This solution is important when edge direction is available either from a direction histogram or from a prediction based on camera and object models. A modification in the non-maximum suppression method of thinning is also presented enabling the comparison of local maxima for any edge directions. Results with a synthetic image and with crops of a CBERS satellite images are presented showing an example with its application in road detection, provided that directions are previously known. This work proposes a comparative study of genetic operators commonly used to find a solution for the Traveling Salesman Problem. It was considered only the costs obtained by the combinations and six different instances of the symmetric version of the problem were used. The experiments were performed with elitism for all the possible combinations.
