Macro‐Raman mapping is an approach that allows to obtain high‐resolution molecular maps of artefacts, over an area of several square centimetres. The method is based on recording thousands of spectra in a grid. The main drawback of this method is that it is very time consuming. A straightforward approach to reduce the measurement time is achieved by reducing the number of points that are measured. Not all points of the map are equally informative: Pixels that are surrounded by similar points might be less interesting to measure. Therefore, an algorithm is proposed to select where to measure and which points to omit. The missing pixels can be filled in a posteriori, by using a suitable interpolation algorithm. The selection of the omitted pixels can be performed based on information that is available from other analytical techniques. In this case, a selection was made based on the local variances in a colour picture. The approach is evaluated by recording macro‐Raman maps of details of a Neptune watercolour painting on paper. In a first stage, the Raman intensities of the scaled and baseline corrected spectra at specific band positions were colour coded and plotted as Raman maps. The interpolation of the Raman maps yielded satisfying results. The image outline could clearly be identified in the maps, and the differently coloured zones were distinguished. Next to this univariate approach, it was demonstrated that also a multivariate data extraction method (principal component analysis) is compatible with the proposed algorithm to measure 25% less datapoints. The digitization of artworks has recently offered new computational perspectives on the study of art history. While much of the focus has been on classifying styles or identifying objects, the analysis of more abstract concepts, such as the perception of motion or dynamism in still images, remains largely unexplored. Semioticians and artists have long explored the representation of dynamism in still images, but they often did so through theoretical frameworks or visual techniques, without a quantitative approach to measuring it. This paper proposes a method for computing and comparing the dynamism of paintings through edge detection. Our approach is based on the idea that the dynamism of a painting can be quantified by analyzing the edges in the image, whose distribution can be used to identify patterns and trends across artists and movements. We demonstrate the applicability of our method in three key areas: studying the temporal evolution of dynamism across different artistic styles, as well as within the works of a single artist (Wassily Kandinsky), visualizing and clustering a large database of abstract paintings through PixPlot, and retrieving similarly dynamic images. We show that the dynamism of a painting can be effectively quantified and visualized using edge detection techniques, providing new insights into the study of visual culture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Macro‐Raman mapping is an approach that is well suited to study the distribution of molecules over a surface of typically several cm2, such as the pigment distribution on a painting. During such an experiment, thousands Raman spectra are recorded in a predefined array of points. As there can be a huge difference in Raman sensitivity between different molecules, an alternative approach is proposed, where measurement times are adapted according to the quality of the Raman scatterer. Therefore, an iterative process is implemented, involving recording short accumulations, followed by a quick evaluation. As soon as the accumulated spectrum reaches a quality criterium, measurement of the next point is started, while in the other case further accumulations are added. The influence of using multiple accumulations opposite to a single measurement for a prolonged period has been assessed by comparing the overall measurement time and the spectral intensity of the main Raman band (520.5 cm−1) of silicon. Another prerequisite for this algorithm to be successful is the need for a quick and reliable evaluation of the spectral quality. This was examined by applying this function on the accumulations of Raman spectra of 49 paint samples from a colour chart. Finally, the variable‐accumulation algorithm is applied during a macro‐Raman mapping experiment of a watercolour painting on paper. Despite a significant gain in overall measuring time, this novel approach yields a qualitative data set that can be used for creating clear Raman maps, using different data processing methods. A painting depicting St John the Baptist prior to his brutal execution, until recently, was held in storage at the Bowes Museum in the North of England, UK. Owing to weakened joins in the wood panel the painting was marked for art conservation treatments, examination and analysis. However, other than the fact that the records show it purchased in Italy in the late nineteenth century by museum founders John and Joséphine Bowes, little else is known of the work. Through a combination of chemical testing and technical art history, further knowledge of the painting has been established. Preparation of cross sections of paint was carried out, as well as chemical testing involving pyrolysis gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (py-GCMS) and attenuated total reflectance – Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), lead white, chalk and linseed oil as binder were identified. The presence of an aged natural resin on the surface of the painting, presence of a thick gesso ground layer, as well as examination of the wood panel construction provided insight into the techniques used in the artwork and that they are comparable with late Medieval to early Renaissance period methods. During examination of the cross-section images, it was noted that there was a second preparatory ground layer in the central part of the sequence; this feature prompted further multi-spectral photography and analysis. X-radiography a commonly used technique for painting analysis surprisingly revealed an entirely different image depicting a nativity scene which had been previously completely concealed by the painting of St John we see today. Although an unexpected discovery still presents some unanswered questions such as who the original artist was and why was the panel so radically reworked. This investigation began with the depiction of the imminent death of the St John the Baptist and ended with the virgin birth. This analytical methodology was applied in technical art history but may also have applications in forensic investigations of suspected fraudulent works of art.

Abstract The present study focuses on an icon known as the Panagia Valieriotissa at the Church of Saint Nicholas in Palodeia, Cyprus. The icon is unusual as it contains two depictions of the Virgin Mary and Child. The main aim of this study is to analyze the material characteristics of the icon and the relation of the two panels in order to determine if the icon belongs to a distinct category of paintings known as “composite icons” – icons consisting of two separate panels, one inserted into another. Icons of this unusual type, first described by Panayotis Vocotopoulos, appear to be quite numerous on Cyprus and date mostly to the sixteenth century. Results show that the icon can be included within this group, consequently enriching our knowledge on the materials, technologies, and techniques used in the creation of composite icons. Driven by art historical inquiries, the study’s methodological approach was based on the integration of digital imaging techniques with non-invasive and non-destructive material analyses pursued by the Andreas Pittas Art Characterization Laboratories (APAC Labs) of the Cyprus Institute. Spectroscopic techniques, digital microscopy and advanced digital imaging methods produced a broad range of data which were analyzed and interpreted from both an art-historical and a conservation perspective towards a better understanding of the materiality of the Palodeia icon and its subsequent history and use. The imaging and spectroscopic methods used provided new information on the materials and techniques used by the painters as well as on later undocumented episodes of restoration or repainting. Overall, the results showed that the icon indeed consists of two separate icons – a larger panel and a smaller, re-used icon inserted into the former. Moreover, some important distinctive features of the inset icon, invisible to the naked eye, reveal its possible previous use and dating. The study brought to light the great potential of non-invasive methods in the revealing and analysis of unknown aspects of composite icons, thus shedding light on this fascinating phenomenon, but it can also interest a broader group of researchers into the exciting new possibilities as well as the limitations of non-invasive methods for the study of works of art and heritage objects.

ARTISTIC style ,HUMAN beings - Abstract
The content-style duality is a fundamental element in art. These two dimensions can be easily differentiated by humans: content refers to the objects and concepts in an artwork, and style to the way it looks. Yet, we have not found a way to fully capture this duality with visual representations. While style transfer captures the visual appearance of a single artwork, it fails to generalize to larger sets. Similarly, supervised classification-based methods are impractical since the perception of style lies on a spectrum and not on categorical labels. We thus present GOYA, which captures the artistic knowledge of a cutting-edge generative model for disentangling content and style in art. Experiments show that GOYA explicitly learns to represent the two artistic dimensions (content and style) of the original artistic image, paving the way for leveraging generative models in art analysis. The emergence of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Vision Transformers (ViT) has markedly transformed the field of image classification and analysis, especially within the realm of computer vision. This advancement has significantly impacted various sectors, including medical diagnostics and autonomous driving, while also fostering novel intersections with artistic exploration. Despite these advancements, the challenge of seamlessly integrating art style classification with emotion prediction remains. The complex interplay between an artwork’s style and the emotional reactions it triggers requires a refined methodology to accurately encapsulate this dynamic relationship. Addressing this challenge, our study presents a Unified Model for Art Style and Emotion Prediction (ASE), which adopts a multi-task learning approach. This model is structured around three main elements: Artwork Style Classification, Emotion Prediction for viewers of art, and a Task-Specific Attention Module. By incorporating a pre-trained image encoder alongside a task-specific attention mechanism, our framework facilitates the concurrent processing of multiple tasks, while honing in on specialized feature representations. The efficacy of our model is validated through the Artemis dataset, demonstrating its proficiency in both precise art style classification and the identification of emotional responses. This highlights its capability to navigate the complex relationships present within artworks effectively.

Raman spectroscopy has been applied to the nondestructive study of ivory artefacts. Molecular Raman spectra of this material have been recorded previously using Fourier‐transform Raman spectroscopy (1064‐nm excitation), and attempts were made to differentiate between species of different origin. However, few attempts have been made to examine this interesting material using dispersive Raman spectroscopy, as when using shorter wavelength excitation, the fluorescence background signal tends to overwhelm the Raman signal. In this study, however, a mobile fibre‐optics Raman spectrometer, equipped with 1064‐nm excitation and an InGaAs detector, was used for the direct analysis of ivory artefacts. This approach opens opportunities for the fast and reliable analysis of this material, without the need to move the artefact to the laboratory, helping to act against the illegal trade of this endangered biomaterial. The purpose of this study was to identify and characterize the painting materials and artistic technique used by Grigore Ranite to create the wooden icon, "The Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem." Particular attention was dedicated to identifying changes in the condition of the icon's materials. To achieve these aims, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in transmission-mode and X-ray fluorescence were used. The material used for the panel was identified to be softwood, which showed differing states of preservation due to wood-decay caused by fungi. It was established the multilayer structure of ground was composed of gypsum and animal glue. Ranite used the typical egg tempera (or tempera grassa) technique to obtain a polychromatic surface for the icon. The pigments that Ranite used to obtain the color red were vermilion, red lead, and hematite. For green, he used malachite, verdigris and copper resinate. Prussian blue and white lead, were probably employed for the color blue. Bone black pigments and iron oxides of various colors were also used. The varnish consisted mainly of a mixture of diterpenic resins, linseed oil, beeswax, and shellac. A major achievement was the identification of an early eighteenth century type of Prussian blue and characterization of its aging process. The results help to date and authenticate Ranite's icon, as well as to establish proper conservation methods in Romania. The findings will contribute toward a better understanding of the chemical and biological aspects of icon materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Equestrian portraits have long been studied regarding questions of power and masculinity. In these studies equestrian portraits depicting women have, perhaps due to their small numbers, been regarded as a few exceptions whose existence do not disturb the general conclusion of what an equestrian portrait means or what its purpose is. The genre is so characterized by its portrayal of masculinity that it is almost synonymous with the early modern ideal male attributes, such as valor, physical strength, leadership and military ability. When a woman is portrayed riding a horse we can safely assume that it is not with the same meaning as when a man is, still it is to me inevitable not to ask oneself what purpose the portrayal of a woman in a genre so closely linked to masculinity serves. For obviously there are many alternative, less masculine, ways of portraying a woman. What made this alternative attractive enough and socially acceptable? The aim of this comparative study is therefore to describe in what way women in equestrian portraiture were depicted and to compare this to their male counterparts in order to further discuss what might lie behind their similarities and differences and how this affects our interpretation of these artworks. Through iconographic analysis and interpretation this study concludes that equestrian portraiture of women in many ways follow the same artistic conventions and uses the same expressions of power and superiority as their male counterparts. The metaphor of the rider as the worthy leader can be applied to the women as well but not without a compromise of what characteristics distinguish a good, or even great leader and the characteristics associated with femininity and female virtue. Women could generally not be portrayed in a military leadership nor be attributed the male characteristics of valor and physical strength. Due to these two traits being thought of as necessary (although not enough on their own) for a completed leadership

22. A new perspective: Understanding the role of architecture in the Ukiyo-e printing tradition through Hiroshige Utagawa

- Abstract
Ukiyo-e or “pictures of the floating world” is the woodblock printing tradition which dominated the Japanese art world throughout the Edo period in imperial Japan from the start of the 17th century until deep into the 19th century. The Ukiyo-e are generally characterized by its vibrant colours, dynamic compositions and depiction of everyday life and popular culture. The subjects where a mirage of the hedonistic lifestyle a new middle class sought. These included pornographic scenery, the kabuki theatre, courtesans of the brothels and landscapes. However not a main subject itself, architecture in its many forms and scales makes appearances in a considerable amount of prints. Yet when consulting the literature, which contains an abundancy on the mentioned print subjects, composition, and ways of working, little can be found about the direct role of the architectural depiction within the Ukiyo-e tradition. This paper serves as a first attempt to uncover this role of architecture. Through a combination of a literary study with a personal analysis, the depicted architecture is dissected in the work of the master Hiroshige Utagawa (1797-1858). The research showed two distinct ways architecture was deployed: directly used to explain a history, a place or as an amplifier of a series’ subject. This often goes together with an insurance of recognizable architectural structures. Then there is the more indirect and subtle way in which architecture is utilized by Hiroshige in which the architecture is a tool which helps transferring an emotion, feeling or bold composition. Throughout his work, it turned out it was more important that the architecture served as a tool to make a place readable and a print digestible for the public. It became clear Hiroshige understood the properties of architecture and adopted its characteristics to his needs or altered them when necessary. This research serves as a first foundation for further research on the specific relation between the Ukiyo-e, AR2A011, Architectural History Thesis, Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences

In our master's thesis, we examine the value of the message conveyed by artworks. By interpreting a work of art, individuals contemplate the depicted subject matter and the reasons behind it. They become familiar with the artist's ideas, the historical context in which the artist lived, and simultaneously confront their own perceptions and thoughts. Contemporary art serves as a medium for discussing current world issues as it reflects modern life and brings to light current problems. Analyzing artworks allows us to gain insight into society's attitudes towards a broad range of topics. Specifically, we are interested in artworks that center around menstruation, as our relationship with this phenomenon reflects our attitudes towards women and femininity. Visual culture, such as films, television, advertising, and other media, often depicts menstruation in a manner that reinforces negative attitudes towards it, perpetuating an attitude of exclusion, ignorance, and rejection. The omnipresence of media influences societal thinking and behavior, making it essential to address this phenomenon's negative perception. Young individuals' attitudes towards menstruation are significantly shaped by their families and primary schools. Thus, it is crucial to examine the societal attitudes inculcated by these institutions. Elementary schools are responsible for instilling certain attitudes toward the world. Therefore, we will investigate the attitude towards menstruation inculcated within school lessons and its connection to contemporary problems. A holistic approach to discussing menstruation is necessary, incorporating biological, sociological, and psychological perspectives. Cross-curricular integration is an effective way to teach this phenomenon. We will analyze lesson plans and determine which subjects should be connected to achieve cross-curricular integration. We will also explore learning goals and content that can be implemented to achieve this integration. Using the art historical methodology, we will identify works of art suitable for educational purposes.

Absorption, reflection, and transmission analysis (ART) are investigated in this research to perceive a photonic memory application using copper-based one-dimensional metamaterial structure. Two operational wavelengths have been manipulated with the said structure in such a way that a signal of 850 nm acts as input signal where the wavelength, 650 nm acts like an excited signal. A simple mathematical formulation is appraised here to perform the simulation work. The simulation outcomes disclose that the copper-based one-dimensional photonic structure could be a suitable entrant for optical memory, which would be integrated with an optical computing system. f the research is to study in detail the work of Ukrainian choreographers - representatives of the "modern" style of Western Ukraine in particular. The research methodology consists in the application of several approaches: analytical for the study of literature on the topic of the article and system; using a range of methods: biographical, culturological, comparative-historical, theoretical generalization - comprehensively achieving the stated goal. Due to the biographical method, we considered the professional and creative experience of choreographers, which explains the sources of their work. The comparative-historical method helped us to study the historically formed features of modern dance, to note its structural, due to which we determined the differences between the previous experience of choreographers and modern choreographic research. The scientific novelty of the study is that we are the first to trace the features of modern dance style in the productions of famous choreographers of Ukraine I.V. Mazur, O.B.Lan, O.V. Martyniuk, A.S. Safonov, S.V. Naenko. The research of this issue helped to understand the main trends in the development of contemporary choreographic art in Ukraine, which are to create a national school of modern dance and the use of choreographic vocabulary in ethnic productions. Conclusions: Due to the research, we followed the development of modern dance on the example of the work of Western Ukrainian choreographers listed above. Our research proves that Ukrainian choreography does not deviate from modern fashion trends. The choreographers of our country develop a fashionable pro-European culture of modern dance in their work, create ballet performances in this style and continue to experiment in their own search for lexical material. Art analysis of the leading Western Ukrainian choreographers of modern dance allowed us to identify special cultural features of modern dance in Western Ukraine, which is manifested in the combination of modern dance with national traditions and the creation of an academic school of this style under the influence of national culture., {"references":["Pastukh V.V.Modern choreographic trends in Galicia (20-30s of the XX century.) Numerous computer vision applications, such as image classification, have benefited from multi-task learning techniques. However, the relative weighting between each task’s loss is hard to be tuned by hand, causing multi-task learning prohibitive in real applications. In this paper, we present a novel and principled adaptive multi-task learning method that weights multiple loss functions based on lagrange multiplier strategy. Our method starts from the standard multi-task learning model. Based on Gaussian likelihood and lagrange multiplier, we then design an adaptive multi-task learning model to learn suitable weightings of each task and boost performance. In order to validate the feasibility of proposed method, we conduct automatic art analysis tests, including art classification and cross-modal art retrieval. Experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms several state-of-the-art techniques, showing that performance is improved by up to 4.2% in art classification and 8.7% in cross-modal art retrieval when compared with the latest automatic loss weights learning method.

Discovering the influences between paintings and artists is very important for automatic art analysis. Lately, this problem has gained more importance since research studies are looking into explanations about the origin and evolution of artistic styles, which is a related problem. This paper proposes to build a multiplex artwork representation based on artistic formal concepts to gain more understanding about the aforementioned problem. We complement and built our approach on the previous notion of Creativity Implication Network. We used the recently proposed MultiRank algorithm to suggest possible explanations of the dynamic of some artistic styles. Our results corroborate some well-known facts about the artists analyzed and give qualitative and quantitative information that show the possibilities and strengths of the proposed framework. We plan to expand our analysis to include more abstract artworks. Ideally, we are going to be able to validate more our results and test how our methodology could be used to generate visual artifacts too.

The phenomenon of simultaneous contrast of colors is examined in terms of optical explanation and practical recommendations for artists. But there is a lack of research that explores the results of the application of this contrast to the works of art. This article is dedicated to stylistic analysis of the role of simultaneous contrast in paintings and graphic works. In the first part of the research the reasons and mechanism of mutual influence of adjacent colors are examined on the basis of M. Chevreul’s research “The Law of Simultaneous Contrast of Colors” which explains the optical nature of the contrast by changes in visual perception of the light rays reflected by colored objects. The second part of the article explores the application of this theory to the stylistic analysis of painting and graphic arts. The use of different variations of simultaneous contrast and its consequences for the perception of the images were analyzed on the examples of art works of Titian, artist of J. Tintoretto’s circle, P. P. Rubens, T. Gainsborough, H. Daumier, V. van Gogh, R. Delaunay, M. Vrubel, M. Nesterov, T. Shevchenko, O. Murashko. It allowed to determine the range of artistic problems that simultaneous contrast helps to solve. This artistic device enriches the color scheme, makes it more complex and provokes vibrating, changeful color effect which can have aesthetic and meaningful value. Simultaneous contrast is widely used to balance cold and warm colors and to compensate the missing or poorly manifested component of the color scheme. It is also the instrument for emphasizing the reflexes and shadows on the depicted objects, for creating more convincing and holistic spatial sense in the image. This contrast can play a big role in concretization of the coloristic and material characteristics of different objects. The examples analyzed in this article do not comprise all the variability of simultaneous contrast, they are the basis for further extension of the research.

The article is devoted to the work of Vitaly Volovich, graphic artist, author of several large cycles of illustrations for classical works: “Heather Honey” by R. Stevenson; Shakespeare's Othello and Richard III; series “Circus”, “Workshop”, etc. The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of the artist's creative method on the example of analysis and interpretation of the triptych “Fear and Despair in the Third Empire”. This goal required an integrated methodological approach to the analysis of the artist's work, combining a philosophical, art analysis with elements of literary criticism. As a result of the study, the following conclusions were obtained. First, V.M. Volovich gravitated towards deep generalizations, strove, using the language of symbols and allegories, to find a reflection of the contemporary problems that worried him. Secondly, the triptych “Fear and Despair in the Third Empire” marks a turning point in the artist's work, and is an artistic and philosophical reflection on the drama of B. Brecht. Third, the example of this work shows that the artist does not become an illustrator of a literary text, but, having understood the writer's intention, turns to his central idea and it is for it that he creates his own plastic and symbolic-metaphorical language.

The article is dedicated to unknown facts and unrenowned events in the life of the famous Russian and American architect, sculptor, and artist Roman Verhovskoy. The new data concern all spheres and periods of his life, from his early years and education to emigration to the Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, and later to the USA. The newly identified facts of professional cooperation with the civil engineer and architect Alexis Boldakoff are brought to light, whose name and projects are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. Collection and systematization of the material was performed using the method of historiographical analysis. The article uses original sources from the archives of St.-Petersburg, Holy Trinity Monastery (Jordanville, USA), Bakhmeteff Archive of the University of Columbia (New York, USA), and church archives (states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut). Personal correspondence of the author with the architect’s relatives, periodicals, art sources, and actual objects were of use as well. The main method in the description and analysis of the monuments was a combination of formal style analysis and art analysis. The research made it possible to clarify the details of the cooperation between Roman Verhovskoy and Alexis Boldakoff, analyze the monuments they constructed, and generalize newly acquired factual information. One of the main results of the study is the most complete reconstruction of the biography of the architect Verhovskoy.

Therapies based on injecting living cells into patients offer a huge potential to cure many degenerative and deadly diseases, with hundreds of clinical trials ongoing. Due to their complex nature, a basic understanding of their biochemical and functional characteristics, how to manufacture them for safe and efficacious therapy, and how to effectively implement them in clinical settings are very challenging. Raman spectroscopy could provide an information-rich, non-invasive, non-destructive analytical method to complement the use of conventional sample-based, infrequent and destructive biochemical assays typically employed to analyze and validate the quality of therapeutic cells. This article provides an overview of the current state of emerging cell therapies, and then reviews the related Raman spectroscopic state of the art analysis of human cells. This includes spectroscopic data processing considerations, the scope offered by technical variants of Raman spectroscopy, and analytical difficulties encountered by spectroscopists working with therapeutic cells. Finally, we outline a number of salient challenges as cell therapy products are translated from the laboratory to the clinic, and propose how Raman spectroscopy-based solutions could address these challenges.

The main methodological principles of the article are the system approaches of mutually complement methods: theoretical (analysis of art sources), empirical and theoretical (theoretical and art analysis of artistic content). The scientific novelty of the article. A thourough analysis of the stylistic features of the artistic language of the portrait motifs of the daughters of Yaroslav the Wise was carried out. The authors of the article made a conceptualization of the material gathered by the art historians, the considerable part of which has not been compiled into one system till now. Conclusions. To this day, there is no single work of that time that could present a faithful image of any members of Yaroslav the Wise’s family. The works of art that are mentioned in this study do not reflect the true appearance of the queens and are the imagination of artists. The works of art that we found were created against the backdrop of significant and heterogeneous socio-historical processes that took place in Europe for a long time, which, in turn, influenced the formation of the images of these people. The portrayal of these figures was formed in the context of the interaction of objective and subjective processes in society, which naturally found reflection in works of art. Learning the achievements of the historical and cultural European heritage should open up new perspectives for the scientific and artistic development of this topic. Further research will be of general cultural significance, which will intensify relations between many European countries and give inspiration to artists on the way to search for updated ideas of images of European queens of the 11th century.

Additive manufacturing has been gaining ground both in the industry and in the academic world due to its flexibility, easy operation, and the possibility of making products in the most varied formats. Also, it can be observed that magnets are largely produced using a sintering process, although it results in high (BH)max, this process is very limited in relation to the shapes of the magnets, thus, additive manufacturing can be used to produce complex shaped magnets. The aim of this article is to demonstrate the state of the art regarding the applied methods to produce permanent magnets and materials for magnet production. Considering this, a literature review was conducted using the methodology called mapping study to select the articles to be used, thus, demonstrating that the main compound used as the magnetic particle is NdFeB alloy powder. Finally, it can be concluded that the magnets produced by additive manufacturing have lower (BH)max than those produced by sintering processes, which despite having high filling capacity of magnetic particles increases the magnet’s magnetic capacity, limits their shape, those by manufacturing magnets can be produced with complex shapes, the heating temperature may reduce the maximum energy, and the coercive force improves it.

The aim of the research is to throw light on the different meanings of landscape in the art of Sergei Sviatchenko with a specific focus on his collages. The methology of the research. Methods of art-criticism, historical analysis and interviewing were used as well asa comparative analysis of S. Svyatchenko’s collages with the European artists of the twentieth century. Scientific novelty. For the first time, the work of the Ukrainian-Danish artist Sergey Svyatchenko is being researched, which made a significant contribution to the development of the art of Collage Peace. XX – beginning XXI century The little-known pages of life and creative creation of the artist, sources of creative andspiration of Svyatchenko, influence and mutual influence of Ukrainian and European art of the twentieth century are introduced into the scientific circulation. Comparative art analysis of various series of collages of the artist and the influence on him of different artistic styles and directions of the 20th century are conducted. Conclusions. Childhood and youth memories play an important role for the art of Sergei Sviatchenko, as well as the influence from older generations of Ukrainian painters. This mood goes like a basic tune though his whole production however avantgarde this fantastic work really is in its rich, bright and visional conception. Recollection is an essential part of his visual baggage, consisting of elements from long time before and from recent day, personal life, physical landscape as well as contemporary art in different media.

The paper presents a state-of-the-art analysis of modern drowsiness detection algorithms based on computer vision technologies as well as considers the problem of yawning detection for the vehicle driver. Based on the analysis of the literature we classify drowsiness detection techniques into three groups: the driving pattern of the vehicle; psychophysiological characteristics of drivers; and computer vision techniques for driver monitoring. The computer vision methods look most promising since they are non-intrusive for the driver. The importance of the driver drowsiness monitoring system rises from the number of drowsiness-related accidents. Yawning is an important identifier of drowsiness, even though it is not the most reliable drowsiness indicator. Some of the methods that are based on computer vision are presented and discussed in the paper. We developed and evaluated a yawning detection model. We analyzed available datasets for yawning detection and conclude that the existing datasets have to be enhanced by pictures taken in real driving conditions. We propose yawning detection dataset-preparation as well as detection model development and evaluation.

Mobile instrumentation is of growing importance to archaeometry research. Equipment is utilized in the field or at museums, thus avoiding transportation or risk of damage to valuable artifacts. Many spectroscopic techniques are non-destructive and micro-destructive in nature, which preserves the cultural heritage objects themselves. This review includes over 160 references pertaining to the use of mobile spectroscopy for archaeometry. Following a discussion of terminology related to mobile instrumental methods, results of a literature survey on their applications for cultural heritage objects is presented. Sections devoted to specific techniques are then provided: Raman spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, and less frequently used techniques. The review closes with a discussion of combined instrumental approaches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
