The security of a message transmitted from one peer to another is a matter of many studies over centuries. Today, with digital communication, billions of data are transmitted from one point to another every milisecond. That is why data security has become one of the most studied topics. In this study, an ancient encryption method called Polybius square which has been a source of inspiration for today's encryption methods is introduced. In addition an expanded version of Polybius square was developed adding Turkish character support. An encryption key has also been added to the Polybius cipher. The entire message can be encrypted with a key or with different keys in each character of the message. The encrypted message is hidden within the pixels of the picture files using the LSB algorithm. Thus, when the message is transmitted to the other side, it is encrypted with a private key, hidden inside a cover data, and has become unsuspicious. To measure the change in cover data; MSE, PSNR and SSIM measurement methods are used. The method proposed in the study is coded with a visual programming language. The developed software has been introduced and its results are shown., Bir yerden bir yere iletilen bir mesajın güvenliği, yüzyıllar boyunca yapılan pek çok araştırmanın konusudur. Bugün, dijital iletişim ile milyarlarca veri, her milisaniye bir noktadan diğerine iletilmektedir. Bu nedenle veri güvenliği, üzerinde en çok çalışılan konulardan biri haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada, günümüzdeki şifreleme yöntemlerine ilham kaynağı olmuş, Polybius karesi adlı eski bir şifreleme yöntemi tanıtılmıştır. Ayrıca Türkçe karakter desteği eklenerek, Polybius karesinin genişletilmiş bir versiyonu geliştirilmiştir. Polybius karesine ek olarak bir şifreleme anahtarı eklenmiştir. Tüm mesaj bir anahtar ile veya mesajın her bir karakteri farklı anahtarlar ile şifrelenebilmektedir. Şifrelenmiş mesaj, LSB algoritması kullanılarak resim dosyalarının pikselleri içinde gizlenmiştir. Böylece, mesaj karşı tarafa iletildiğinde, bir kapak verisinin içine gizlenmiş ve bir özel anahtarla gizlenmiştir ve varlığı şüphe çekmemektedir. Kapak verisindeki değişimi ölçmek için; MSE, PSNR ve SSIM ölçüm yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada önerilen yöntem görsel bir programlama dili ile kodlanmıştır. Geliştirilen yazılım tanıtılmış ve ürettiği sonuçlar gösterilmiştir.

Standart bir En Önemsiz Bit (EÖB) algoritması, bir görüntünün en az önemli bitlerinin ortalama %50' sini değiştirir. Bu durum gri tonlamalı bir görüntüde yaklaşık olarak %0,2 bozulmaya neden olur. Bu nedenle, keskin olmayan gri tonlamalı görüntülerde EÖB uygulaması, insan görsel sistemi tarafından kolayca tespit edilebilecek çok fazla gürültüye neden olur. Ek olarak; görüntü piksel piksel tarandığında, gizli mesaj yetkisiz kişilerce kolayca okunabilir. Bu çalışmada sağlam ve algılanamayan blok tabanlı EÖB steganografi yöntemi geliştirilmiştir. İlk önce kapak resmi bloklara bölünür, sonra görüntünün daha az ayrıntılarını içeren blokları tespit etmek için her bir bloğun medyan geometrik ortalaması ve aritmetik ortalaması hesaplanır. Yöntemin, veri gizleme işleminden önce görüntünün veri yükü kapasitesini hesaplayabilme avantajı vardır. Geliştirilen yöntem ayrıca yetkisiz kişilerin gizli mesajları tespit etmelerini zorlaştırır. Yöntemin performansı MSE, PSNR ve SSIM gibi matematiksel yöntemlerle ölçülmüştür. Yöntem, dört test görüntüsünde %0,9999' un üzerinde yapısal benzerlik skoru elde etmiştir ve standart EÖB algoritmasından 20 kat daha iyi sonuç alındığı gösterilmiştir., A standard Least Significant Bit (LSB) algorithm changes average 50% of the least significant bits of an image. This causes approximately a 0.2% distortion on a grayscale image. Therefore, the application of LSB on non-sharp grayscale images causes too much noise that can be easily detected by the human visual system. In addition; when the image is scanned pixel by pixel, hidden message can be easily read by unauthorized persons. A robust and imperceptible block-based LSB steganography method is developed in this study. First, cover image is divided into blocks, then median geometric mean and arithmetic mean of each block is calculated to select blocks those contain less detail of the image. Method has an advantage of calculating data load capacity of image before embedding process. Proposed method also makes it difficult for unauthorized people to detect hidden messages. Performance of the method is measured by mathematical methods such as MSE, PSNR and SSIM. The method achieved structured similarity score over 0.9999% on four test images, indicating a 20-fold better result than the standard LSB algorithm.

Günümüzdeteknolojinin hızlı gelişimi ile bilinçlenen ve sorgulamaktan kaçınmayantüketiciler, şikâyetlerini işletmelere iletme süreci içine girmektedirler. Buçalışmada İzmir ilinin sınırları içerisinde yer alan 92 adet otele ilişkinşikâyetlerin veya tavsiyelerin yapıldığı web sitesinden otellere yapılan yorumlarıçekerek MySQL veri tabanına kaydedilmesini sağlayan PHP bot yazılımıgerçekleştirilmiştir. Matlab ortamında geliştirilen veri madenciliğiyöntemlerinden biri olan veri görselleştirme yöntemi kullanılarak verininanalizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Spring Tool Suite ortamında aranan anahtar kelimeen çok hangi otelde kullanılmış, her otelin veri analiz (grafik) sonuçlarınıngösterildiği web uygulaması oluşturulmuştur. Geliştirilen bu uygulamaylamüşteriler her otele yapılan sayısız yorumları tek tek okumak zorunda kalmadanotelin öne çıkan özelliklerini öğrenebileceklerdir. Müşteriler hem zamantasarrufu sağlamış hem de otel hakkında önceden fikir sahibi olmuş olacaktır.İşletme sahipleri de müşteri taleplerini göze alarak hizmetlerinigeliştirebilecektir., Today consumers, who are conscious of the rapid development of technology and who do not abstain from questioning, are in the process of communicating their complaints to institutions. In this study, PHP bot software was implemented which enables to record into MYSQL database by pulling comments from the web site where complaints and recommendations were made about the 92 hotels locating within the borders of İzmir. Data analysis was performed using data visualization method which is one of the data mining methods developed in Matlab stage. In the Spring Tool Suite environment, a web site was created that shows the data analysis (graphic) results of each hotel to find out which hotel was mostly used. With this application developed, customers will be able to read the numerous comments of each hotel individually and learn about the highlights of the hotel. The customers both have saved time and have already had an idea about the hotel. Business owners will be able to improve their services by receiving customer requests

To ensure the safety of the analog data, it is enough to store it physically. With the transfer of data to the digital environment, the concept of data security has been moved to a different dimension. The emergence of the Internet brought data security among the most discussed issues. Higher data transfer speed and higher storage capacity of data make more difficult the protection and authentication of digital data including personal and commercial audio, video and image. Concepts such as cryptology, steganography, digital signature and watermarking have been used for data security. In this study, the concept of watermarking which is used for data security is explained. History of watermarking, watermarking methods, watermarking types and watermarking media are mentioned. Watermarking methods are introduced in the spatial and frequency domain. Comparison of methods and performance metrics are described.

Special devices are required to perform tampering on an analogue image. This requires a serious cost and skill. But it is easy to tamper on a digital image. Digital images can be tampered even with easy accessible free digital image editing software. Moreover, this tampering can occur even with a mobile phone. In particular, tampering on important images such as images containing financial data, images of official documents, etc., can lead to money and time losses. In this study, a method of tamper detection in order to protect the RGB images and performing a recovery of the tampered region has been proposed. The proposed method can recover a tampered image even without any information of the original. Method backups the value of each pixel of the image to the farthest pixel possible. The image is first separated into layers R, G and B. Each layer is then divided into blocks of equal size 2 × 2. The pixel of each layer is embedded in different layers of the corresponding blocks by the LSB method before sending it to receiver side. The image obtained on the receiver side is scanned by the inverse algorithm. The value of the detected pixels is withdrawn from the corresponding block pixels and the image is repaired. Method seems to work quickly and effectively and it is tested on RGB credit card images. The results are shown in the study.

Steganografi;bir veriyi, başka bir verinin içine gizlenip çıkartma işlemidir. Gizli birveri, hiç şüphe çekmeden başka bir verinin içerisinde taşınabilir. Hiç kimsesıradan bir müzik, resim, metin veya video dosyasından şüphelenmez. Bu çalışma;bazı steganografi algoritmalarını açıklamakta ve görüntü verilerini bir sesdosyasına gizleme üzerine odaklanmaktadır. Genellikle resim dosyaları içine metinverisi gizleme için kullanılan LSB algoritması; bir ses verisi içerisine resim verisigizleme amacıyla kullanılmış ve orijinal ses verisi ile stego-ses verisiarasındaki fark gösterilmiştir. Steganografi performans testi yöntemleriaçıklanmış, stego-ses verisine çeşitli yapay saldırılar yapılmıştır.Saldırıların sonucunda gizli verinin sağlamlığı MSE tekniği ile ölçülmüştür., Steganographyis the process of hiding and extracting a data into another data. A secret datacan be carried in another data without any doubt. No one is suspicious of anordinary music, picture, text or video file. This work explains somesteganography algorithms and focuses on hiding image data into an audio file.The LSB algorithm; which is usually used for hiding text data into image files isused to hide picture data in an audio data and the difference between theoriginal audio data and the stego-audio data is shown. Steganographyperformance test methods have been described, and some artificial attacks appliedto stego-audio. Robustness of hidden data is measured by the MSE techniqueafter stego-attacks.

Until recently, shape memory alloys (SMAs) were predominantly developed for applications in the biomedical and engineering industry, and only a limited number of applications in textiles are known. The biomedical success of these materials is due to their unusual properties, which make them superior to conventional materials. Among many SMAs, NiTi alloy is considered to be the best because of its superb characteristics. This study in vitro aimed to design a medical textile material that could be used around internal organs to support in case of inability of peristaltic motion. NITI alloys were embedded in textile structure to simulate the peristaltic motion. Three types of knit prototypes were produced and controlled by electronic system. Their structures and behaviors simulating smooth muscles were assessed and compared.

Artificial intelligence is widely enrolled in different types of real-world problems. In this context, developing diagnosis-based systems is one of the most popular research interests. Considering medical service purposes, using such systems has enabled doctors and other individuals taking roles in medical services to take instant, efficient expert support from computers. One cannot deny that intelligent systems are able to make diagnosis over any type of disease. That just depends on decision-making infrastructure of the formed intelligent diagnosis system. In the context of the explanations, this chapter introduces a diagnosis system formed by support vector machines (SVM) trained by vortex optimization algorithm (VOA). As a continuation of previously done works, the research considered here aims to diagnose diabetes. The chapter briefly gives information about details of the system and findings reached after using the developed system.

Blended Learning is a learning model that is enriched with traditional learning method and online education materials. Integrating online and face-to-face learning with blending learning can optimize seat time and improve learning experience. In this paper, we present the teaching of Algorithm and Programming course in Computer Engineering Education via blended learning approach. Since 2011, Computer Engineering education in Süleyman Demirel University Computer Engineering Department is taught with blended learning method. Blended learning is achieved through Learning Management System (LMS) of university by using distance education technology. LMS comprises of course materials supported with flash animations, student records, user roles, evaluation system such as surveys and quizzes that meet SCORM standards. In this paper, performance evaluation of students in traditional and blended education for Computer Engineering is provided. Applied blended learning model is presented and evaluation of students who are taking programming courses is done. Therefore, it is aimed that adaptation period of students in blended education is shortened. Our results show that algorithmic thinking abilities of students who enrolled in the Algorithm and Programming course in blended and traditional education are close.

Usage areas of mobile phones have increased in the last 10 years. Although there have been improvements in many areas, most of the developments are in the field of positioning systems. Although the people's lives continue in indoor environments, location-based information system receives data from the satellites, which can detect a person's location in outdoor areas. In indoor areas, satellite signals can cause false information or can be interrupted by the objects in the area. In this study, an indoor navigation system has been designed and developed that only uses the accelerometer, the camera and the compass components on the phone and does not require satellite signals for positioning. To provide independence from the map in this application, augmented reality is applied during the routing process by utilizing built-in camera of the phone and no map is used.

In this chapter, the authors present the teaching of an Algorithm and Programming course in Computer Engineering Education via an artificial intelligence-supported blended learning approach. Since 2011, Computer Engineering education in Suleyman Demirel University Computer Engineering Department is taught with a blended learning method. Blended learning is achieved through a Learning Management System (LMS) by using distance education technology. The LMS is comprised of course materials supported with flash animations, student records, user roles, and evaluation systems such as surveys and quizzes that meet SCORM standards. In this chapter, the related education process has been supported with an intelligent program, which is based on teaching C programming language. In this way, it has been aimed to improve educational processes within the related course and the education approach in the department. The blended learning approach has been evaluated by the authors, and the obtained results show that the introduced artificial intelligence-supported blended learning education program enables both teachers and students to experience better educational processes.

Bu çalışmada Borland Delphi yazılım geliştirme platformunda yeni bir aritmetik benchmark uygulaması geliştirilmiştir. Geliştirilen uygulama, 8 farklı algoritma test yaparak sistemin aritmetik işlem performansını ölçmekte, test sonuçları ile donanım bileşenlerine sayısal skor vermektedir. Geliştirilen uygulama, 10 farklı donanım platformunda incelenmiş ve skorlar elde edilmiştir. Üretilen skorlar, passmark skorları ile karşılaştırılıp, basit matematiksel işlemlerle oluşturulan stresle elde edilen skorların başarımı incelenmiştir.

In this study, a solar chimney system, which is suitable for climate conditions of Isparta and its surroundings, is designed theoretically. With the aim of studying experimentally as based on that design, a prototype solar chimney has been constructed in the university campus area of Süleyman Demirel University-RACRER (Research and Application Center for Renewable Energy Resources). Additionally, after the experimental studies, the system is modelled theoretically with depending on the design. Then, this model constituted the basis for developed computer programme and performance parameters of the system are obtained. The obtained findings showed that the solar chimney, which is suitable for climate conditions of Isparta and its surroundings, are sufficient for determining design and performance parameters. The results showed that electricity generation with solar chimney is suitable for areas which have high solar incident and long sunshine duration and similar climate conditions as such as Isparta and its surroundings. When the results are evaluated, it is seen that electricity generation power of solar chimney depends on the region solar data, the chimney height and the size of greenhouse area., Bu çalışmada, Isparta ve yöresi iklim koşullarına uygun teorik bir güneş bacası sistemi tasarlanmıştır. Bu tasarıya dayalı olarak deneysel çalışma yapmak amacıyla Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi-YEKARUM (Yenilenebilir Enerji Kaynakları Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi) tarafından, üniversite yerleşim alanına bir prototip güneş bacası kurulmuştur. Ayrıca, deneysel çalışmaların ardından, bu tasarı esas alınarak sistem teorik olarak modellenmiştir. Daha sonra bu model, geliştirilen bilgisayar programına esas teşkil etmiş ve çıktı olarak, sisteme ait performans parametreleri elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, yapılan modelleme çalışmasının, Isparta ve yöresi iklim şartlarına uygun güneş bacası tasarım ve performans parametrelerini belirlemekte yeterli olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Sonuçlar, güneş bacası teknolojisi ile elektrik üretiminin Isparta ve yöresi ile güneş ışınımının yüksek ve güneşlenme süresi uzun olan benzer iklim şartlarına sahip bölgeler için de uygun olduğunu göstermiştir. Sonuçlar yorumlandığında, güneş bacası elektrik üretim gücünün direkt olarak bölge güneş verilerine, baca yüksekliğine ve toplayıcı sera alanının büyüklüğüne bağlı olduğu görülmüştür.
