O presente estudo objetiva relatar a experiência de acadêmicos de enfermagem em uma enfermaria pediátrica de um hospital de grande porte situado no município de Belém-PA, na qual utilizou-se a arteterapia como ferramenta para promoção do bem estar das crianças internadas. Trata-se de um relato de experiência, com abordagem qualitativa, que utiliza como referência o Arco de Maguerez, um instrumento de metodologia ativa de ensino-aprendizagem composto das seguintes etapas: observação da realidade, levantamento de pontos-chave, teorização, hipóteses de solução e aplicação à realidade (BERBEL, 1995). Como resultado, durante a vivência, observou-se a inexistência de atividades destinadas às crianças internadas na enfermaria, nesse sentido, buscou-se as possíveis causas da problemática das quais destacam-se: a ausência de recursos e de estrutura física direcionado à recreação, e a falta de conhecimento acerca da importância da ludicidade. Desta forma, com base na literatura, identificou-se que a arteterapia deve ser introduzida no processo terapêutico da criança, visto seus benefícios, entretanto estudos sobre essa temática ainda são incipientes, o que fortalece a ideia de que o conceito da arte dentro do contexto hospitalar precisa ser implementado. Com base nisso, foram feitas discussões críticas a respeito de soluções alternativas criativas, de baixo custo e que fossem viáveis, sendo selecionadas a realização de atividade de pintura para as crianças e elaboração de folders informativos sobre a arteterapia, direcionados aos acompanhantes. Durante a atividade foi apresentado a arteterapia e explanado seus benefícios no processo terapêutico. Em síntese, percebeu-se a importância de atividades que promovam o bem estar durante o tempo de internação, dessa maneira, a arteterapia constitui-se de uma ferramenta aliada no processo de humanização e consiste em uma prática de baixo custo, fácil aplicação e boa aceitação pelo público pediátrico. Tal dinastia teve início no final do século II d.C. com a conquista do Principado por Septímio Severo, o qual foi sucedido por Caracala, Macrino, Heliogábalo e Severo Alexandre, respectivamente. Dentre os governantes da Dinastia Severa, destacamos o jovem Heliogábalo, proveniente da Síria. Trata-se de um imperador romano que foi muito criticado por autores como Dião Cássio, um senador romano, e Herodiano, que era associado à aristocracia imperial, de modo que a partir das críticas feitas por esses dois autores podemos perceber uma grande resistência às inovações introduzidas por Heliogábalo no campo políticoadministrativo, sobretudo devido à influência do mos maiorum sobre os modelos de análise de Dião Cássio e Herodiano. Uma dessas inovações realizadas pelo imperador foi a concessão de cargos administrativos a artistas da parte oriental do Império. Assim, com base na leitura da documentação, pensamos que para Heliogábalo não era um problema nomear artistas em cargos administrativos, já que ele mesmo se considerava um artista e ocupava o cargo de imperador. Heliogábalo apenas reproduziu, como imperador romano, as práticas culturais que executava na cidade de Emesa, na Síria, onde ocupava o posto de sacerdote antes de se tornar o Princeps. Objetivamos, portanto, compreender a confluência cultural entre a parte oriental e ocidental do Império Romano e como, por meio dela, se abre uma brecha para que sejam possíveis as mudanças administrativas de Heliogábalo, que sofrem resistência da parcela mais conservadora dos senadores romanos, representada pelo senador Dião Cássio e Herodiano, um aristocrata oriental e aliado do senado romano. The Severan Dynasty was the first of an African and Eastern origin in the Roman Empire. This dinasty has its origin in the endind of the century 2 A.D with the conquest of the principate by Septimius Severus, who was sucessed by Caracalla, Macrinus, Elagabalus and Severus Alexander, respectively. Between the rulers of the Severan dynasty we highlight the young Elagabalus, who came from Syria. It is a Roman Emperor who was very criticized by autors like Cassius Dio, a Roman senator, and Herodian, who was associated with the imperial aristocracy, in a way that with the critics made by this two autors we can realize a great resistance to the innovations introduced by Elagabalus in the administrative-political field, above all by the influence of mos maiorum in the analysis models of Cassius Dio and Herodian. One of those innovations realized by the emperor was the concession of administrative posts to artists of the eastern part of the empire. Thus, whith base on the lecture of documentation, we think that for Elagabalus it was not a problem to name artists in administrative posts, because he considered himself an artist who occupied the post of emperor. Elagabalus only has reproduced, as a Roman Emperor, the cultural pratices that he has executed in the city of Emesa, in Syria, where he occupied the post of priest before and became the Princeps. We have, therefore, like objective, understand the cultural confluence between the eastern and western parts of the Roman Empire and how, by means of that, a gap opens to make possible the administrative changes of Elagabalus, that suffers resistance from the more conservative portion of the Roman senators, represented by the senator Cassius Dio and Herodian, an eastern aristocrat and ally of the Roman Senate.

Objetivo: Examinar as formas de transmissão vertical da sífilis com o intuito de adotar medidas preventivas, diagnósticas e terapêuticas em pacientes gestantes. Métodos: Revisão integrativa de literatura realizada nas bases de dados SciELO, LILACS, BDENF e MEDLINE, através dos seguintes DECS: "sífilis congênita” e “diagnóstico pré-natal”. Incluídos artigos disponíveis, nos idiomas português, espanhol e inglês, que abordassem a temática, nos últimos dez anos. Resultados: Houve um aumento nos casos de sífilis gestacional e sífilis congênita (SC), uma taxa média de detecção de 20,1 casos/1000 nascidos vivos para SG e de 5,7 casos/1000 nascidos vivos para SC, com predomínio para população vulnerável. Há fatores que influenciam no diagnóstico tardio e na baixa adesão ao tratamento, por isso faz-se necessário atuar em diferentes esferas para combater a sífilis e sendo a melhor medida de prevenção a SC a realização do pré-natal adequado onde as gestantes realizaram seis ou mais consultas. Considerações finais: As medidas de prevenção a serem tomadas, são diagnóstico rápido, educação em saúde, o uso de método contraceptivo de barreira, tratamento completo durante a descoberta, tornando assim mais difícil a transmissão por via transplacentária.

São menos de 100 casos publicados na literatura que relatam esse tumor como manifestação primária. O prognóstico costuma ser reservado, tanto pela agressividade do tumor quanto pelo diagnóstico tardio. Neste relato, descreve-se o caso de um paciente do sexo masculino de 33 anos, pardo, não tabagista e não etilista, diagnosticado com Adenocarcinoma gástrico escamoso. A Endoscopia Digestiva Alta possibilitou a identificação da lesão neoplásica e realização de biópsias que confirmaram o diagnóstico. This work presents a comparative analysis of specific, rather than general, mathematical programming implementation techniques of the quadratic optimization problem (QP) based on Support Vector Machines (SVM) learning process. Considering the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimality conditions, we present a strategy of implementation of the SVM-QP following three classical approaches: (i) active set, also divided in primal and dual spaces, methods, (ii) interior point methods and (iii) linearization strategies. We also present the general extension to treat large-scale applications consisting in a general decomposition of the QP problem into smaller ones, conserving the exact solution approach. In the same manner, we propose a set of heuristics to take into account for a better than a random selection process for the initialization of the decomposition strategy. We compare the performances of the optimization strategies using some well-known benchmark databases.

A novel synthetic method for preparing enzyme-polysaccharide derivatives is described, based on the use of the Ugi multicomponent reaction. Bovine pancreatic trypsin, the target enzyme, was cross-linked with the anionic polysaccharides O-carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and sodium alginate in the presence of formaldehyde and t-butyl isocyanide. The protease retained 69–61% and 43–37% of its initial esterolytic and proteolytic activity after cross-linking. The thermostability of the enzyme was enhanced from 49 °C to 57 °C after modification. The resistance to inactivation at 50 °C was 14- and 6-fold increased, and the activation free energy of thermal inactivation at this temperature was 7.2 kJ/mol and 4.9 kJ/mol higher after modification with O-carboxymethylcellulose and sodium alginate, respectively. The enzyme was 15- and 46-fold more resistant to autolytic degradation at pH 9.0 after cross-linking with these polysaccharides.

Chitosan was chemically branched with ferrocene moieties and further used as a support for the immobilization of horseradish peroxidase on a glassy carbon electrode. The reagentless biosensor device showed a linear amperometric response toward hydrogen peroxide concentrations between 35 x 10(-6) M and 2.0 x 10(-3) M. The biosensor reached 95% of the steady-state current in about 20 s and its sensitivity was 28.4 x 10(-3) microA x M(-1). The enzyme electrode retained 94% of its initial activity after 2 weeks of storage at 4 degrees C in 50 x 10(-3) M sodium phosphate buffer at pH 7.0.

Parte del interés por repensar la educación de los sentimientos para los estudiantes de Bachillerato surge de la necesidad de humanizar la realidad en la que estamos inmersos, una época que emerge dentro de un contexto globalizador dondelos cambios y avances tecnológicos aceleran la vida de las personas, provocando un desconocimiento de sí, que a su vez genera relaciones personales y sociales dañinas, complicadas y en ciertos casos peligrosas. Conocer, comprender y valorar lo que ocurre en la interioridad de la persona brinda las herramientas necesarias para entenderse a uno mismo y entender a los demás.La adolescencia es comprendida socioculturalmente como una etapa del desarrollo humano donde la persona deja la infancia y pasa a ser parte de la vida adulta, se entiende simple y vanamente como un proceso de transición, pero es más que eso, encierra un gran tesoro: durante esta etapa, a partir de la experiencia que se ha obtenido a lo largo de la vida se constituye y determina la personalidad, el carácter yse conforman las primeras relaciones sociales estables. Los adolescentes son una bomba de sentimientos,pues en cada uno de sus actos intervienen sentimientos que en la mayoría de los casos no saben controlar o expresar, uno de los objetivos que guía el presente trabajo es presentar la importancia de conocer e identificar lo que se siente y surge desde el interior de las personas para encauzar nuestras acciones hacia un buen vivir.

An expert opinion describes his or her opinion about a quantity by using imprecise ("fuzzy") words from a natural language, such as "small", "medium", "large", etc. Each of these words provides a rather crude description of the corresponding quantity. A natural way to refine this description is to assign degrees to which the observed quantity fits each of the selected words. For example, an expert can say that the value is reasonable small, but to some extent it is medium. In this refined description, we represent each quantity by a tuple of the corresponding degrees. Once we have such a tuple-based information about several quantities x1, xm, and we know that another quantity y is related to x1 by a known relation y = f (x1,..., xm), it is desirable to come up with a resulting tuple-based description of y. In this paper, we describe why a seemingly natural idea for computing such a tuple does not work, and we show how to modify this idea so that it can be used.

To cope with the growing requirements of data intensive scientific experiments, models and simulations the Large Scale Data Facility (LSDF) at KIT aims to support many scientific disciplines. The LSDF is a distributed storage facility at Exabyte scale providing storage, archives, data bases and meta data repositories. Apart from data storage many scientific communities need to perform data processing operations as well. For this purpose the LSDF Execution Framework for Data Intensive Applications (LAMBDA) was developed to allow asynchronous high-performance data processing next to the LSDF. However, it is not restricted to the LSDF or any special feature only available at the LSDF. The main goal of LAMBDA is to simplify large scale data processing for scientific users by reducing complexity, responsibility and error-proneness. The description of an execution is realized as part of LAMBDA administration in the background via meta data that can be obtained from arbitrary sources. Thus, the scientific user has only to select which applications he wants to apply to his data.

Digital methods and collaborative research in virtual research environments are gaining in importance for the arts and humanities. The EU-funded project DARIAH aims to enhance and support digitally-enabled research across these disciplines. The most basic but nevertheless fundamental task of DARIAH is to provide sustainable storage for research data. Information contained in data like images, texts or music needs to be secured and to remain accessible even if the original information carrier becomes lost or corrupted. The heterogeneity of the humanistic data and the need for distributed, perform ant access are the main challenges in designing an archiving system for the arts and humanities. Using the "Virtual Scriptorium", a digitisation project in Trier, Germany, this paper exemplary identifies the humanistic researchers' storage needs and derives requirements for an infrastructure. As a solution, a generic architecture for a federated data zone based on the iRODS technologies is proposed. The system implemented in Trier and Karlsruhe is described and will be extended to other locations as the researchers benefit from the initial set-up.

Background Rapid scale up of HIV treatment programs in sub-Saharan Africa has refueled the long-standing health policy debate regarding the merits and drawbacks of vertical and integrated system. Recent pilots of integrating outpatient and HIV services have shown an improvement in some patient outcomes but deterioration in waiting times, which can lead to worse health outcomes in the long run. Methods A pilot intervention involving integration of outpatient and HIV services in an urban primary care facility in Lusaka, Zambia was studied. Data on waiting time of patients during two seven-day periods before and six months after the integration were collected using a time and motion study. Statistical tests were conducted to investigate whether the two observation periods differed in operational details such as staffing, patient arrival rates, mix of patients etc. A discrete event simulation model was constructed to facilitate a fair comparison of waiting times before and after integration. The simulation model was also used to develop alternative configurations of integration and to estimate the resulting waiting times. Open interfaces and APIs support a variety of access methods to the highly available services for high throughput data applications. Tools for an easy and transparent access allow scientists to use the LSDF without bothering with the internal structures and technologies. In close cooperation with the scientific communities the LSDF provides assistance to efficiently organize data and metadata structures, and develops and deploys community specific software on the directly connected computing infrastructure.

The Large Scale Data Facility (LSDF) was conceived and launched at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) end of 2009 to address the growing need for value-added storage services for data intensive experiments. The LSDF main focus is to support scientific experiments producing large data sets reaching into the petabyte range with adequate storage, support and value added services for data management, processing and preservation. In this work we describe the approach taken to perform data analysis in LSDF, as well as for data management of the scientific datasets.

Geneva is an Open Source library implemented in C++, targetted at large-scale parametric optimization problems. One of its strengths is the ability to run on resources ranging from multi-core machines over clusters to Grids and Clouds. This paper describes Geneva’s architecture and performance, as well as intended deployment scenarios.

The Large Scale Data Facility (LSDF) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology was started end of 2009 with the aim of supporting the growing requirements of data intensive experiments. In close cooperation with the involved scientific communities, the LSDF provides them not only with adequate storage space but with a directly attached analysis farm and -- more importantly -- with value added services for their big scientific data-sets. Analysis workflows are supported through the mixed Hadoop and Open Nebula Cloud environments directly attached to the storage, and enable the efficient processing of the experimental data. Metadata handling is a central part of the LSDF, where a metadata repository, community specific metadata schemes, graphical tools, and APIs were developed for accessing and efficiently organizing the stored data-sets.
