The present work aimed to evaluate the effect of the seedling position and Azospirillum brasilense application on the initial development of cassava. The assay was conduced following a completely randomized experimental design, with factorial arrangement (planting positions [horizontal (HP) and vertical (PV)] and the A. brasilense [with (+Azos) and without (-Azos)]). The sprouting percentage (SP) was evaluated from 11 to 35 days after planting (DAP). After 30 DAP, the following variables were evaluated: sprouts number (SN), sprouts height (SH), number of leaflets (NL), length of leaflets (LL), and vegetative vigor (VV). Cassava plants positioning significantly influenced the initial growth. PV promotes a greater sprouting, 63% in 17 DAP, over the PH which was only 3% of the visible shoots during the same period. Here we show for the first time that PV promoted the highest values ​​combined with -Azos in the variables SH (an increase of 17%) and VV (an increase of 61%). The PH, in combination with +Azos, stimulated the NL in 20%. The sub-division into three VV groups allowed identify the existence of differences among the treatments which were not seen in an independent ANOVA being VV an important variable for the initial growth evaluation in cassava., El trabajo tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto de la posición del propágulo de yuca y la aplicación de Azospirillum brasilense en el desarrollo inicial de la plántula. El experimento se realizó siguiendo un diseño completamente aleatorizado, con arreglo factorial (posición del propágulo [horizontal (PH) y vertical (PV)] y A. Brasilense [con (+Azos) y sin (-Azos)]. El porcentaje de brotación (PB) se evaluó de 11 a 35 días después de la siembra (DAP). Luego de 30 DAP, se evaluaron las siguientes variables: número de brotes (NB), altura de brotes (AB), número de folíolos (NF), longitud de folíolos (LF) y vigor vegetal (VV). La posición de las plantas de yuca influyó significativamente en el crecimiento inicial. La PV promueve una mayor brotación, 63% en 17 DAP, sobre la PH que fue del orden de 3% de los brotes visibles en el mismo período. En el trabajo se muestra que la PV promovió los valores más altos combinados con -Azos en las variables AB (aumento de 17%) y VV (aumento de 61%). La PH, en combinación con +Azos, estimuló el NF en 20%. La subdivisión en tres grupos de VV permitió identificar de forma visual diferencias entre tratamientos, que no se observaron en un ANOVA independiente. La VV es una variable importante para la evaluación del desarrollo inicial de la yuca.

Taking into consideration the importance of beans for human nutrition, and the contribution of local production to the regional food securityinthesouthof the state ofSonora, atrial was established during the spring-summer 2020 cultivationcycle in the Block 2110 of the Yaqui Valley. The experiment aimed to evaluate the effect of the application of three commercial biostimulantsin the yield components of bean, variety Pinto Bill Z. Four treatments with four repetitions were established: T1 (FloraStart®); T2(Austar®); T3 (mixture of Tricel-20®+ Aminocel 500®, 1:1ratio) and T4(control, without biostimulant application) in a completely randomized experimental design. The treatments were applied only once during the flowering phenophaseR6. Thevariables evaluated werenumber of pods per plant, pod length, number of grains per pod, grain mass per pod and per plant, and grain yield. The use of biostimulants increased the number of pods per plant in the evaluated variety. The pod length and the number of grains per pod did not show significant variation with respect to control. La longitud de la vaina y el número de granos por vaina no presentaron variación significativa respecto al testigo.El T1fue el quemás contribuyó al incremento del número de vainas por planta, la masa individual de los granos y, en consecuencia, del rendimiento de grano(5.4 tha-1), con un incremento de 2.3 t ha-1respecto al testigo, lo que demuestra la factibilidad de su aplicación para incrementar la producción del frijol Pinto Bill Z en el sur de Sonora

Some studies on the impact of climate changes on wheat have been carried out, but few have explained the possible variations in root morphology and associated microbial diversity. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of canopy temperature increases of 2°C in wheat during three experimental crop cycles on the initial and final root density and the presence of symbiotic association with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) under field conditions. The warming treatment resulted in the highest percentage of roots (51%) at a greater depth than the control. The warming caused a 38% decrease in the presence of AMF and a 20% decrease in the number of spores per kilogram of soil. The warming treatment generated stress intensities of 18 and 17% in the amount of spore per kilogram of soil and percentage of colonization, respectively., Se han realizado algunos estudios sobre el impacto del cambio climático en el trigo, pero pocos han explicado las posibles variaciones en la morfología de las raíces y la diversidad microbiana asociada. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto del aumento de 2°C en la temperatura del dosel en trigo durante tres ciclos experimentales de cultivo, sobre la densidad de raíces inicial y final, y la presencia en asociación simbiótica con hongos micorrízicos arbusculares (HMA) en condiciones de campo. El tratamiento térmico mostró el mayor porcentaje de raíces (51%) a mayor profundidad que el control. El calentamiento provocó una disminución del 38% en la presencia de HMA y una disminución del 20% en la cantidad de esporas por kilogramo de suelo. El tratamiento térmico generó intensidades de estrés de 18 y 17% en la cantidad de esporas por kilogramo de suelo y en el porcentaje de colonización, respectivamente.

Good postharvest management allows maintaining its chemical charac-teristics and organoleptic properties suitable for consumption. This review compiles information on the postharvest management of this species, emphasizing the main factors that affect its shelf life. High respiration and perspiration rate, mechanical damage, and inadequate management of conservation atmospheres reduce its postharvest quality.

The effect of temperature variations recorded in eight meteorological stations in Yaqui Valley, Sonora, Mexico, on the tillering capacity and grain yield of wheat variety CIRNO C2008 in the growing cycles December 2016-May 2017 and December 2017-May 2018 was studied. In one of the sites, the crop canopy temperature was increased by +2°C with a T-FACE system (warming) based on the temperature recorded in the nearest meteorological station. With the two experimental variants, the abscisic (ABA) and gibberellic (GA) acid hormones were determined during tillering (initial tillering: 30 d after emergence and final tillering: 45 d after emergence) to explain their contribution to the tillering capacity response. A temperature variability of 1°C was observed in the cycle December 2017- May 2018, as compared to the previous cycle and between the evaluated sites. As a result of the temperature increase effect, the tiller number was significantly reduced. The experimental warming caused a highly significant decrease in the ABA content and an increase in the GA. The temperature variation found in Yaqui Valley had a negative and significant correlation with the grain yield in both experiment crop cycles, which demonstrated that global warming is reducing the tillering capacity and grain yield of wheat in Yaqui Valley., Se estudió el efecto de las variaciones de temperatura registradas en ocho estaciones meteorológicas del Valle del Yaqui, Sonora, México, en la capacidad de macollamiento y el rendimiento de grano de la variedad de trigo CIRNO C2008, en dos ciclos de cultivo. En uno de los sitios, la temperatura del dosel del cultivo se incrementó en 2°C por medio de un sistema T-FACE (calentamiento) usando como control la temperatura registrada en la estación meteorológica más cercana. En estos dos tratamientos, se determinaron las hormonas ABA y GA al inicio y final del macollamiento para explicar su contribución a la capacidad de macollamiento. Como resultado, se encontró una variabilidad de temperatura de 1°C en el ciclo de diciembre de 2017 a mayo de 2018 con respecto al anterior y también entre los sitios evaluados. Por efecto del aumento de la temperatura disminuyó el número de hijos. El contenido de ABA disminuyó por efecto del calor mientras que el de GA aumentó. La variación de temperatura encontrada en el Valle del Yaqui correlacionó negativamente con el rendimiento de grano en ambos ciclos de cultivos, demostrando que el calentamiento está reduciendo la capacidad de macollamiento y el rendimiento del grano de trigo en el Valle del Yaqui.
