The discovery of new environmentally friendly recyclable photosensitizers is key to develop future applications in photooxidation chemistry. We report here the evaluation of a set of differently substituted biobased hydroxyanthraquinones in the context of visible light mediated singlet oxygen (1O2) photochemistry. This class of compounds is efficiently immobilized on alumina supports, which offers a simple way of removing them from the reaction mixture downstream.
