The space for culture and information provided by school libraries can be great sources of learning. Knowing the collection of science books in school libraries is extremely important, they offer reading practices that have lasted not only at school but outside of it as well. The research aimed to understand the reality of the use of libraries in three municipal schools in Coari –AM. For data collection, it was verified whether the libraries had non-didactic books and whether the students had removed them. For this, control was used through the book withdrawal notebook. All were counted the books taken by Elementary School II students and verified whether the non-didactic books were removed in 2022. The non-didactic science books found were identified, listed, and quantified. In the end, an intervention activity was carried out in the library of one of the researched schools, with a 7th-grade class, whose practice consisted of reading the books found and scientific dissemination texts. As an important result, it was verified that the municipal schools of Coari do not have a great availability of non-public books. didactic materials, nor are these books removed by students. The intervention activity showed that students do not usually remove books, however, positive data were found related to encouraging reading and the search for alternative materials.

No âmbito do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar, do Instituto de Educação da Universidade do Minho, foi desenvolvido o presente projeto: A música e a linguagem: um duo único no jardim de infância, centrando-se na importância da música no processo de aquisição e desenvolvimento da linguagem. Os objetivos traçados para este trabalho foram os seguintes: (i) proporcionar, às crianças, meios e motivações para estimular o gosto pela música; (ii) dar a conhecer diferentes modos de explorar a música, através de histórias musicadas, músicas, lengalengas musicadas e outros textos; (iii) potenciar o contacto com diversas formas de expressão e comunicação; e, (iv) averiguar o papel da música como possível influenciador na aquisição da linguagem, tanto como língua materna ou não materna. Do ponto de vista metodológico, recorreu-se à Investigação-Ação e aos seguintes instrumentos de recolha de dados: observação, notas de campo e registos audiovisuais. Ao longo das atividades, as crianças demonstraram-se sempre muito recetivas, empenhadas e envolvidas, manifestando um grande gosto pela música, o que permitiu desenvolver diversas aprendizagens e competências, especialmente ao nível da linguagem materna., In the context of the Masters Degree in Pre-School Education, of the Institute of Education of the University of Minho, the present project was developed: Music and Language: a unique duo in kindergarten, focusing on the importance of music in the process of language acquisition and development. The objectives outlined for this work were as follows: (i) to provide children with the means and motivations to stimulate a taste for music; (ii) to make known different ways of exploring music through musical stories, songs, nursery rhymes and other texts; (iii) to foster contact with different forms of expression and communication; and (iv) to investigate the role of music as a possible influencer in the acquisition of language, both as a mother tongue and as a non-mother tongue. From a methodological point of view, we used Action Research and the following data collection tools: observation, field notes and audiovisual records. Throughout the activities, the children were always very receptive, committed and involved, showing a great love for music, which allowed the development of various learning and skills, especially at the level of mother tongue.

Relatório de estágio de mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar, No âmbito do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar foi elaborado o presente relatório de estágio intitulado A música e a linguagem: um duo único no jardim de infância. Este relatório foi concebido na intervenção realizada apenas em contexto Pré-Escolar, uma vez que não foi possível desenvolver intervenção em contexto de Creche devido à pandemia Covid-19. Este relatório reforça a importância da música no processo de aquisição e desenvolvimento da linguagem. Este tema surgiu das observações realizadas ao longo do estágio inserido na Unidade Curricular de Estágio do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e foi progredindo com base nas necessidades e nos interesses das crianças. A implementação deste projeto permitiu atingir os objetivos a que me propus: proporcionar, às crianças, meios e motivações para estimular o gosto pela música; dar a conhecer diferentes modos de explorar a música, através de histórias musicadas, músicas, lengalengas musicadas e outros textos; e potenciar o contacto com diversas formas de expressão e comunicação. Além disso, permitiu me também averiguar o papel da música como possível influenciador na aquisição da linguagem, tanto como língua materna ou não materna. No final do projeto foi percetível que, as crianças, já conseguiam verbalizar diversas palavras e pequenas frases em língua portuguesa. Muitas destas conquistas foram alcançadas através da exploração das músicas. Ao longo do projeto as crianças foram demonstrando diferentes necessidades e interesses, que foram explorados através da música. Inicialmente, todas as atividades eram apresentadas através de uma música que era mais tarde explorada através de outras áreas, como por exemplo, a área da expressão e comunicação: subdomínio das artes visuais e o subdomínio da dança. Através da exploração da música foi enriquecido o vocabulário em geral. Ao longo das atividades, as crianças demonstraram-se sempre muito recetivas e envolvidas o que permitiu desenvolver diversas aprendizagens, especialmente ao nível da linguagem. O projeto desenvolvido demonstra o interesse e envolvimento das crianças por atividades de exploração e manuseamento de diferentes materiais. Além disso, demonstra um grande interesse pela área da música e mais tarde pelos instrumentos musicais elaborados pelos mesmos. Para a implementação deste projeto, sustentei a minha prática na abordagem investigação ação onde recorri a diversos instrumentos de recolha de dados: observação, notas de campo e registos audiovisuais. Por fim, ressalvo ainda que, neste projeto, a música teve um papel crucial para a aquisição da língua portuguesa., Under the Master's degree in Pre-School Education, this internship report entitled "Music and language: a unique duo in kindergarten" was prepared. This report was prepared based on the intervention carried out only in the Pre-school context, since it was not possible to develop intervention in the context of Daycare due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This report reinforces the importance of music in the process of language acquisition and development. This theme arose from the observations made throughout the internship inserted in the Curricular Unit of Internship of the Master's Degree in Preschool Education and was progressing based on the needs and interests of children. The implementation of this project allowed to achieve the objectives that I proposed: to provide children with the means and motivations to stimulate the taste for music; to make known different ways of exploring music, through musical stories, music, music and other texts; and enhance contact with various forms of expression and communication. In addition, it also allowed me to investigate the role of music as a possible influencer in language acquisition, both as a mother tongue or as a mother tongue. At the end of the project it was noticeable that the children could already verbalize several words and small sentences in Portuguese. Many of these achievements were achieved through the exploration of the songs. Throughout the project the children were demonstrating different needs and interests, which were explored through music. Initially, all activities were presented through a song that was later explored through other areas, such as the area of expression and communication: subdominance of visual arts and the subdomain of dance. Through the exploration of music was enriched vocabulary in general. Throughout the activities, the children were always very receptive and involved, which allowed them to develop several learnings, especially at the language level. The project developed demonstrates the interest and involvement of children in activities of exploration and handling of different materials. In addition, he shows a great interest in the area of music and later for the musical instruments elaborated by them. For the implementation of this project, I supported my practice in the action research approach where I resorted to various data collection instruments: observation, field notes and audiovisual records. Finally, I also resosure that, in this project, music played a crucial role in the acquisition of the Portuguese language.

Relatório Final de Prática de Ensino Supervisionada do Mestrado em Educação Pré-escolar apresentado na Escola Superior de Educação do Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo Este relatório demonstra o caminho realizado na unidade curricular de Prática de Ensino Supervisionada II, no âmbito do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar. Associado a este percurso, realizou-se um pequeno trabalho de investigação, centrado no domínio da Linguagem Oral e Abordagem à Escrita, realizado num Jardim de Infância do distrito de Viana do Castelo, com um grupo de 25 crianças, entre os três e os seis anos de idade, tendo em consideração a importância de motivar as crianças para a leitura e a sua aprendizagem emergente. Neste sentido, nesta proposta que aqui se apresenta, dá-se particular ênfase à leitura de histórias e variados desafios a ela associadas, procurando incrementar a curiosidade pela leitura emergente. Assim, partiu-se da questão: De que forma a leitura de histórias e práticas associadas permitem o aumento da procura do livro, o interesse pela leitura e pela sua aprendizagem emergente? Para responder a tal questão, foram delineados os seguintes objetivos de investigação: i) Apresentar um conjunto de propostas, promovendo o contacto com o livro, o interesse pela leitura e pela sua aprendizagem emergente; ii) Analisar as reações das crianças às propostas apresentadas, tendo por base as suas representações sobre a importância de aprender a ler. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza qualitativa, um estudo de caso, dando a conhecer um conjunto de propostas, e o seu resultado, aplicado a um grupo de crianças, recorrendo-se à observação, ferramentas audiovisuais, entrevistas e documentos das crianças. Os resultados levam-nos a concluir que a leitura de histórias associada a pequenos desafios tem um impacto positivo e significativo no interesse das crianças pela leitura emergente. This report demonstrates was developed during the Supervised Teaching Practice Unit of the Master's Degree in Pre-school Education. Associated with this path, a small research work was developed, focused on the domain of Oral Language and Written Approach, realised in a Kindergarten in the district of Viana do Castelo, with a group of 25 children, aged between three and six years old, taking into consideration the importance of motivating children to read and its emergent learning. In this sense, in this proposal that is presented here, there is a particular emphasis on the reading of stories and various challenges associated with it to increase the curiosity for emergent reading. The following question was posed: How can reading stories and associated practices increase the demand for books, the interest in reading and emergent learning? To answer this question, the following research objectives were outlined: i) To present a set of proposals, promoting the contact with books, the interest for reading and its emergent learning; ii) To analyse the children's reactions to the proposals presented, based on their representations about the importance of learning to read. This is a study of a qualitative nature, a case study, making known a set of proposals, and their outcome, applied to a group of children, using observation, audiovisual tools, interviews and children's documents. The results show that reading stories associated with small challenges has a positive and significant impact on children's interest in emergent reading.

Dissertação de mestrado integrado em Industrial Engineering and Management (MIEGI), Microfinance is a strategy adapted to provide opportunities to different economic classes, contributing to the financial flow of a country. However, it can also be a cause of economic failure if the cycle of the loan is interrupted, meaning if a loan is not repaid and a lot of money is lost. With the number of loans increasing, there is a high risk of having a lot more loans entering the overdue stage, overloading the resources available to take actions on the repayment of the loan. For that reason, this dissertation ”Allocation of overdue loans based in an officer performance in a Sub-Saharan Africa microfinance institution” expects to keep optimizing the way this part of the process works. So, initially, only one experiment was thought to be tested, as the title of this dissertation mention, but soon two more were added and conducted to keep seeking for a better distribution of the loans through the officers available, to maximize the probability of recovering the loan. In the first one, it was analyzed, using the classification method, the relation between the loan and some selected characteristics from the officers part of an optimized profile, in order to improve the connection officer-user. The three biggest characteristics chosen to build that profile did not show strong results with F1 scores between 0 and 0,74. Although this could be a good value to consider, there is a big gap between scores when there is a good prediction for paid/ unpaid. In the second one, an approach similar to the credit scoring models was followed, where the loan should be classified as paid or unpaid based on what prediction could result in the analysis of each loan characteristics. The results were not that different from the first experiment, where the Support Vector Machine present potential to be a solution with an F1 score average of 0.625, however when predicting the loans unpaid it showed to be random with a score of 0.55, losing the confidence in this option. In the third and last one, the experiment was similar to the second one. The difference was on what data mining technique was used - the clustering technique was used rather than the classification. This technique showed quite better results compared to the others, being possible to visualize well-defined clusters in the data. This way, the implementation of groups of loans and the prioritization scale would be the best strategy to organize the loans in the team and to assign them in an optimal way to maximize the recovery., O Microfinanceamento é uma estratégia adaptada para promover oportunidades para as diferentes classes económicas de uma sociedade, contribuindo para o fluxo financeiro de um país. Por outro lado, pode também ser uma causa de falha económica, se o ciclo do empréstimo for interrompido, isto é, se o empréstimo não for pago e uma parte do dinheiro for perdida. Com o crescimento do número de empréstimos, há um risco maior da extensão da data limite, sobrecarregando os recursos disponíveis para o repagamento do empréstimo. Por essa razão, a presente dissertação ”Alocação de empréstimos em atraso baseada na prestação do operador numa instituição de microfinanciamento da África subsariana” espera continuar a optimizar a forma como este processo trabalha. Assim, inicialmente, apenas um ensaio foi pensado para ser testado, como o título desta dissertação indica, mas rapidamente mais dois ensaios foram conduzidos para continuar a procura por uma melhor distribuição dos empréstimos pelas pessoas disponíveis, para maximizar a probabilidade de recuperar esse empréstimo. No primeiro, foi analisada, utilizando um método de classificação, a relação entre o empréstimo e algumas características dos funcionários (parte do seu perfil otimizado), no sentido de melhorar a relação com o utilizador. As três características do perfil escolhidas não mostraram resultados fortes com pontuações entre 0 e 0,74. Embora esta última teria potencial, existia um grande intervalo nos valores numa boa previsão para paid/ unpaid. No segundo, foi seguida uma abordagem similar aos modelos de credit scoring, onde um empréstimo é classificado como pago ou não pago baseado na previsão da análise das características de cada empréstimo. Os resultados não foram muito diferentes dos do primeiro ensaio, onde o Support Vector Machine apresentou algum potencial para ser solução com uma pontuação média de 0.625, no entanto, quando previa os empréstimos unpaid, mostrava ser aleatório com uma pontuação de 0.55, perdendo a confiança nesta opção. No terceiro e último, a diferença para o segundo estava em qual das técnicas de Data Mining foi utilizada - a técnica de clustering foi a escolhida. Esta técnica demonstrou melhores resultados entre todas, sendo possível a visualização bem definida de grupos nos dados. Desta maneira, a implementação de grupos e da escala de priorização seriam a melhor estratégia para organizar os empréstimos na equipa, de forma a maximizar a recuperação.

PTDC/CTM-ENE/5125/2014 PTDC/CTM-NAN/2912/2014 SFRH/BPD/115566/2016 SFRH/BPD/114833/2016 A novel generation of flexible opto-electronic smart applications is now emerging, incorporating photovoltaic and sensing devices driven by the desire to extend and integrate such technologies into a broad range of low cost and disposable consumer products of our everyday life and as a tool to bring together the digital and physical worlds. Several flexible polymeric materials are now under investigation to be used as mechanical supports for such applications. Among them, cellulose, the most abundant organic polymer on the Earth, commonly used in the form of paper, has attracted much research interest due to the advantages of being recyclable, flexible, lightweight, biocompatible and extremely low-cost, when compared to other materials. Cellulose substrates can be found in many forms, from the traditional micro-cellulose paper used for writing, printing and food/beverage packaging (e.g. liquid packaging cardboard), to the nano-cellulose paper which has distinct structural, optical, thermal and mechanical properties that can be tailored to its end use. The present article reviews the state-of-the-art related to the integration and optimization of photonic structures and light harvesting technologies on paper-based platforms, for applications such as Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS), supporting remarkable 107 signal enhancement, and photovoltaic solar cells reaching ∼5% efficiency, for power supply in standalone applications. Such paper-supported technologies are now possible due to innovative coatings that functionalize the paper surfaces, together with advanced light management solutions (e.g. wave-optical light trapping structures and NIR-to-visible up-converters). These breakthroughs open the way for an innovative class of disposable opto-electronic products that can find widespread use and bring important added value to existing commercial products. By making these devices ubiquitous, flexible and conformable to any object or surface, will also allow them to become part of the core of the Internet of Things (IoT) revolution, which demands systems' mobility and self-powering functionalities to satisfy the requirements of comfort and healthcare of the users. authorsversion published
