An exponential rise in demand for artificial implants has emphasized the need for novel biomaterials with good biocompatibility and mechanical properties comparable to human cortical and cancellous bone, to mitigate stress shielding and other post implantation challenges. This study investigated the processing performance of biomedical β-Ti alloys (Ti-12Ta-23Nb-24Zr, Ti-32Nb-25Zr) fabricated via Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) under optimal working conditions. These processing conditions included laser power (200 W), scanning speed (1000 mm/s), hatch distance (0.065 mm), layer thickness (40 μm), and exposure time (50 μs). It was found that Ti-12Ta-23Nb-24Zr exhibited the highest compressive strength (864 MPa), near bone elastic modulus (45.2GPa), higher bone regrowth rate (111.6%), minimum process induced porosity (3.681%), and reduced surface roughness (0.462 μm), making it ideal for Orthopedic implants. On the other hand, Ti-32Nb-25Zr also demonstrated good compressive strength (842 MPa), near bone elastic modulus (53 GPa), minimum process induced porosity (4.285%), and good bone regrowth rate (94.7%), suitable for initial bone integration. It was found that beta Ti alloys have improved bio-mechanical performance compared to conventional Ti, in the order Ti-12Ta-23Nb-24Zr>Ti-32Nb-25Zr>Ti-6Al-4V. The findings underscore the adaptability of optimized L-PBF settings across biomedical β-Ti alloys, paving the way for advanced patient-specific orthopedic implants.

Abstract Apple scab disease causes significant losses in apple crop production. In the north western Himalayas of India, the indiscriminate use of triazole fungicides to manage apple scab has led to the emergence of triazole-resistant strains of V. inaequalis. To investigate the resistance profile in three Venturia inaequalis populations collected from North, South and Central Kashmir, baseline sensitivity assays were conducted on 30 V. inaequalis isolates unexposed to any fungicides. The mean ED50 value and discriminatory dose of difenoconazole and flusilazole were determined to be 0.584, 0.15 µg ml−1 and 0.018, 0.02 µg ml−1 respectively. The assessment at these discriminatory doses revealed a major shift in sensitivity against both fungicides. The sequencing of conserved region-2 of CYP51A1 revealed that the resistant isolates have TTT (Phenylalanine) instead of TAT (Tyrosine) codon at position 133. Moreover, the same mutation was observed in some shifted isolates which confirmed that this mutation is not solely responsible for the development of resistance. From linear mixed-model regression analyses, the fitness parameters of resistant isolates were assessed which revealed that except for oxidative stress at 1 mm H2O2 (wherein a decreased micro colony growth linearly increases with resistance), there is no fitness cost associated with the development of resistance against difenoconazole and flusilazole. Meanwhile, the resistance against both fungicides is phenotypically stable. Consequently, it is speculated that these populations are unlikely to regain their sensitivity even in the absence of these frequently used fungicides.

Abstract Heliotropium indicum is well-known for its diverse medicinal properties, traditionally utilized to treat ailments such as diabetes, obesity, bacterial infections, inflammation, and diarrhea. This study aims to explore the anti-inflammatory effects of the extract using in vitro methods and to assess its drug-likeness potential using docking, PASS and ADME. Fractionations of crude methanol extract (CME) were undertaken in n-hexane (NHF), chloroform (CHF), and ethyl acetate (EAF). GC–MS analysis was conducted using Agilent technologies. All fractions were evaluated for radical scavenging and anti-inflammatory properties in vitro. Molecular docking was performed with PyRx and Biovia Discovery Studio, followed by drug-likeness analysis using Swiss ADME. The ethyl acetate fraction (EAF) showed the highest DPPH scavenging activity (IC50: 4.3 μg/ml), followed by chloroform (CHF, IC50: 12.95 μg/ml) and n-hexane fractions (NHF, IC50: 17.6 μg/ml). Catechin had an IC50 of 3.5 μg/ml. EAF and CHF also exhibited the highest hydroxyl radical scavenging activity (51.69 μg/ml). EAF demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory activity, inhibiting heat-induced hemolysis (71.90%), hypotonicity-induced hemolysis (67.18%), and AAPH-induced hemolysis (72.52%) at 400 μg/ml. Six major phytoconstituents in EAF, identified by GC–MS, were docked with COX-2. ADME and drug-likeness evaluations using the Lipinski’s “rule of five" confirmed all compounds had acceptable pharmacokinetic properties to fulfill the pharmaceutical formulations requirement. The study depicts the first and novel report of GC–MS compounds on in silico analysis. Both EAF and CHF exhibit significant anti-inflammatory activity, indicating their potential as a source for developing new therapeutic agents for treating inflammation.

Zirconia (ZrO2) ceramic has excellent mechanical properties and superior chemical stability, making it widely used in aerospace, microelectronics, biomedicine, and mechanical manufacturing. However, due to its difficult-to-machine characteristics, traditional machining methods struggle with fabricating large-aspect-ratio (LAR) microchannels in zirconia ceramics. This study compares direct laser machining (DLM) and waterjet-assisted laser micromachining (WJALM) in preparing LAR zirconia microchannels, focusing on surface morphology, heat-affected zones, microhardness, chemical and phase composition. Subsequently, parameter experiments of WJALM were carried out to achieve superior machined quality LAR zirconia microchannels by assessing the geometric profile and ablation-area-ratio. Experimental results indicated that WJALM significantly surpasses DLM, achieving a 46 % decrease in areal surface roughness (Sa), WJALM reduced the heat-affected zone depth by approximately 37 % compared to DLM. The WJALM process also enhanced the ablation-area-ratio by 61 %, achieving superior machining quality under optimized conditions of 27 W laser power, 100 mm/s scanning speed, and 8 m/s waterjet velocity.

This study investigated fluoride contamination in groundwater and associated health risks in the Badin district of Pakistan. Fifty-seven groundwater samples were analyzed for fluoride, turbidity, iron, and total dissolved solids (TDS). Pollution indices and health risk models were employed to assess contamination levels and potential health impacts. Results showed that 47 % of samples exceeded the WHO fluoride limit of 1.5 mg/L, with a mean concentration of 1.92 mg/L. Spatial analysis revealed high contamination in northern and southern areas. Health risk assessments indicated that children, particularly females, faced the highest risk of fluorosis. TDS, turbidity, and iron levels also exceeded WHO limits in significant portions of the samples. This investigation uniquely combines multiple pollution indicators, spatial analysis, and age-specific health risk assessments, presenting vibrant insights for targeted interventions, policy development, and resource allocation to address this critical public health issue in fluoride-endemic regions.

Silicon nitride (Si3N4) ceramic has excellent durability and superior outstanding mechanical properties, which makes it extensively applied in aerospace, biopharmaceuticals, semiconductors and optoelectronics. Nevertheless, the precise microfabrication of complex-shaped Si3N4 microgrooves, particularly those with large aspect-ratio (LAR) presents significant challenges, and traditional machining methods fall short in meeting the demanding criteria for high-precision applications due to the difficult-to-machine characteristics (e.g. high hardness, high strength and brittleness, etc.). In this research, waterjet-assisted laser machining (WJALM) is preferably adopted for LAR Si3N4 microstructures, which has demonstrated superiority in reducing thermal-induced defects of laser-only machining (LOM) with the water's impact and cooling effects. A comparative investigation of LOM and WJALM is initially conducted to evaluate the heat-affected zone (HAZ), geometric characteristics and sidewall surface quality of LAR Si3N4 microgrooves. Following that, the influence of waterjet and laser parameters on morphological characteristics for WJALM is studied through the control variable method. Results indicated that compared to LOM, the HAZ, material removal rate and sidewall surface quality of LAR microgrooves fabricated by WJALM were much superior. This research not only provides new strategies for Si3N4 microgrooves but also lays the foundation for the further development and industrial application of water-assisted laser technology.

This investigation presents an analytical model optimized for predicting the curve of Flexible Printed Circuits (FPCs), aiming to enhance design precision within the burgeoning realm of flexible electronics. By modifying the bending Mises stresses derived from the finite element model (FEM), an almost linear relationship was established between the deformed FPC curvature and its length. The analytical model, based on the trend of the FPC curve, integrates differential equations, the Jacobian matrix, and an iterative process. The model's performance, marked by its remarkable efficiency, is rigorously compared with Finite Element Method simulations. The results show a negligible error between the two methods, with the predicted results for different types of FPC curves proving to be highly accurate. The study's insights advocate for the model's adoption in practical applications, suggesting a paradigm shift towards more agile and efficient design methodologies in flexible electronics engineering.

BackgroundAmid growing concern about antimicrobial resistance due to the irrational use of antibiotics in treating common poultry diseases, particularly Salmonella which is a foodborne pathogen in humans. This study investigates the effects of ethnoveterinary supplementation of Rauwolfia serpentina (L. Benth. ex Kurz) powder (RSP) on three key immune-related genes; Suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3), the quiescence-related gene P20K (P20K), and the major histocompatibility complex Class IIβ (MHC class IIβ), gut morphology and growth performance of broiler chicks infected with Salmonella Gallinarum.MethodsTwo hundred and forty day-old Hubbard classic chickens were randomly assigned to four groups: non-challenged control (NC), and Salmonella Gallinarum challenge group (SGC), and two treatment groups fed a basic diet supplemented with 1.5% Rauwolfia serpentina powder (RSP) with SGC (RSP-1) and 3% RSP with SGC (RSP-2), respectively, from day 3 till 28 days of age. Each treatment was replicated 4 times with 15 bird/replicate pen. On day 7, all the birds in the RSP-1, RSP-2 and SGC groups received 1 ml of BHI broth containing 2 × 108 CFU of Salmonella Gallinarum via oral gavage. While control birds received an equivalent volume of sterile BHI broth. Gene expression analysis was conducted using real-time PCR to measure the expression of key immune-related genes: SOCS3, P20K, and MHC Class IIβ in spleen, liver, and caeca. Additionally, histopathological assessments of gut and growth performance parameters including feed intake, body weight gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were monitored throughout the experimental period.ResultThe gene expression analysis at 3 and 21 days post-challenge revealed that SGC birds had significantly higher SOCS3, P20K, and lower MHC class IIβ expression (p < 0.001) in the caecum, liver, and spleen of broiler chickens. In contrast, the RSP-1 and RSP-2 groups showed significantly lower SOCS3 and P20K expression (p < 0.001), alongside improved gut morphology, weight gain, and FCR compared to the SGC group, with these benefits increasing over time.ConclusionIn conclusion, these findings suggest that Rauwolfia serpentina supplementation modulates key immune-related gene expression (SOCS3, P20K, and MHC class IIβ), enhances intestinal health, and improves growth performance in broilers challenged with Salmonella Gallinarum.

With bio-medical wearables becoming an essential part of Internet of Medical things (IoMT) for monitoring the health of workers, patients and others in different environments, antenna play a pivotal role in such wearables. In this communication, a novel Horse shoe shaped antenna (HSPA) meant for such wearables is presented. The vitals of the workers, patients etc. are collected and sent to the IoMT platform for ensuring their safety and monitoring their physical wellbeing. In this article, regression-based Machine learning (ML) techniques are used to facilitate the design of Horse shoe shaped patch antenna to predict the frequency of operation, radiation efficiency and Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values to accelerate its design process for on-body applications. The HSPA designed resonates at 2.45 GHz in the frequency band of 1.75-2.98 GHz with SAR of 1.89 W/kg for an input power of 16.98 dBm, peak gain of 1.91 dBi and radiation efficiency of 62.07% when mounted on the human body. 1080 samples of data comprising of three EM parameters have been generated using a conventional EM tool by varying the physical and electrical parameters of the design. A detailed comparison of the five regression-based ML algorithms is presented, and it is observed that the ML models help in efficient use of resources while designing an antenna for bio-medical applications.

Introduction Congenital colour vision deficiency (CVD), known as colour blindness, is a common visual problem affecting around 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women. It is known that people who have red-green CVD, the most common phenotype, can have difficulty differentiating colours and this can impact the ability to perform clinical tasks related to patient care. The objective of this scoping review is to understand the extent and type of evidence and the impact on clinical practice and patient safety arising from congenital CVD in healthcare professionals.Methods and analysis The scoping review will follow the methodological framework outlined by the Joanna Briggs Institute and by Arksey and O’Malley and we will adhere to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses Scoping Reviews checklist. The following databases will be searched: PubMed, MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus, Lens.org and the Trip medical database (filtered for low-income countries) with no limit on earliest date and up to 30 November 2024. Grey literature will be identified by planned searches in the Overton Index. All articles related to ‘CVD in healthcare professionals in clinical practice or in training’ will be included. The study will also include other professionals who may be involved in healthcare but are not involved in direct patient-facing activities. It will be limited to congenital CVD and will exclude the impact of visual impairment and acquired CVD.There will be an initial search to validate the search strategy. Titles and abstracts will be screened to determine eligibility, and the full text will be reviewed using a data extraction framework. Data will be extracted, collated and then mapped and summarised to present the relevant key findings and outcomes from the papers in tabular and visualised form with a narrative synthesis.Ethics and dissemination The scoping review does not need ethical approval and will provide an overview of the impact of congenital CVD on clinical practice and patient safety. This will determine the future need and direction of research in this area and identify methodological challenges and opportunities. Abstract Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an immune disorder characterized by thrombocytopenia. Fostamatinib is an orally administered spleen tyrosine kinase inhibitor intended to treat refractory ITP. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of fostamatinib as a subsequent‐line therapy for ITP in adults. We searched four electronic databases for primary studies of any design. Primary efficacy outcomes included proportions of patients achieving overall (≥30 × 109 cells/L), partial (≥50 × 109 cells/L), and stable (as defined in original studies) platelet response. Safety outcomes included rescue medication use and other adverse events. We used narrative synthesis and Mantel–Haenszel random effect meta‐analysis to summarize results. Our systematic review included 11 studies for analyses (n = 722). Weighted mean proportions of patients achieving overall, partial, and stable responses with fostamatinib treatment were 0.70 [0.62, 0.76], 0.48 [0.36, 0.61], and 0.28 [0.16, 0.44], respectively. Fostamatinib was favored over placebo for partial (relative risk [RR] = 3.04, 95% confidence interval [CI] [1.53, 6.06]) and stable (RR = 6.43, 95% CI [1.58, 26.23]) responses. Patients on fostamatinib required less rescue medication and were more likely to experience hypertension. Fostamatinib is a viable subsequent‐line therapy option for refractory ITP. Given the heterogeneous data and large number of small studies, these results should be interpreted cautiously.

In this work, we considered the two -dimensional cylindrical coordinate system for the mixed convection flow Carreau fluid model moving on the stretching cylinder. Further, the nanoparticles are embedded in the Carreau fluid model to analyze the enhanced thermal characteristics of flow and this type of study is useful because the nanofluids helps in the regulation of heat in gasoline engines and machines by preventing corrosion in the cooling system and aiding in the removal of waste heat. The CattaneoChristov heat and mass fluxes is considered instead of traditional Fourier and Fick's law of heat conduction, as this model can investigate the temperature changes during small time intervals. The inspection of thermal and solutal region are observed by heat general and chemical reaction. There is need to conduct a study in which the combined effects of heat and mass transfer in terms of Carreau fluid model along with the CattaneoChristov heat and mass flux, and other considered factors are considered because it helps in better understanding of design systems involving nanofluids, such as heat exchangers or reactors, where non-Newtonian behavior, enhanced heat transfer, and chemical processes are significant. The mathematical equations are converted into differential equations by using similarity conversions, which are numerically solved by using the bvp4c function in MATLAB. The graphical outcomes of emergent parameters on the corresponding fields are discussed.

Clean and sustainable energy has become a main objective in the modern world. However, achieving clean and sustainable energy required active participation from customers and widespread adoption of Renewable Energy Resources (RERs). Inadequate awareness about the economic benefits of RERs could result in reduced customer engagement and diminished interest from governments in promoting the installation of RERs. The paper proposes an exploration of the economic, environmental, and social benefits associated with the widespread integration of RERs in the power distribution network to effectively address the benefits of widespread RERs integration. It also highlights how this extensive integration of RERs has the potential to foster economic growth in the region and benefit consumers. In addition, the paper examines the power-sharing dynamics between the grid and RERs to analyze the reduction in grid burden, load and energy management, and conduct sensitivity analysis considering various customer responses for the installation of RERs. The paper presents a comprehensive case study that includes four districts within the region of East Kashmir. In the case study, revenue climbed to $103.6 million with a 70% surge in renewable energy use, drastically cutting carbon emissions to 285.8 million kg/year and energy costs to $0.10/kWh. Moreover, energy self-sufficiency was highlighted by a 47% renewable penetration and 110 million kWh sold at 70% customer engagement.

Chronic and severe inflammation results in many diseases and disorders in humans. Currently, available conventional anti-inflammatory drugs have numerous mild-to-severe side effects. Thus, there is a need for safe, effective, affordable, and alternative anti-inflammatory drugs. This study aimed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of sclareol (SCL), a diterpene alcohol that is the principal ingredient in the refined oil of Salvia sclarea (L.), through in vivo and in silico studies. First, we examined the individual and combined effects of SCL (5, 10, and 20 mg/kg) and standard drugs celecoxib (CXB) or ketoprofen (KPN) at 42 mg/kg (p.o.) on the formalin-induced inflammatory Swiss mice. Additionally, an in silico analysis was conducted to evaluate the potential anti-inflammatory mechanism of this study. For this, we examined the potentiality of SCL and standards to interact with cyclooxygenase (COX) -1 and COX-2 receptors. Our findings suggest that SCL exhibits a dose-dependent anti-inflammatory effect in mice. SCL-20 mg/kg significantly reduced the number of paw licks and paw edema diameters. Moreover, SCL-20 combined with CXB-42 and KPN-42 demonstrated better anti-inflammatory effects. In comparison to the standards, SCL revealed a comparable binding interaction with COX-1 and COX-2 receptors in the molecular docking study. Furthermore, SCL displayed remarkable pharmacokinetic characteristics. In conclusion, SCL significantly and dose-dependently reduced the number of paw licks and edema diameters in animals. Thus, SCL may be responsible for producing an anti-inflammatory effect by interacting with COX-1 and COX-2 receptors.

In this article, Cubic Trigonometric B-Spline Collocation technique is used to solve Modified Equal Width (MEW) Wave equation with application. The proposed scheme of major equation is tested by three ways: Single Soliton Wave, train of Solitary Waves and final birth solution. The efficiency and validity i.e, of proposed method is checked by different time levels. The present scheme is implemented to find out three invariants quantities and two error and norms. The given scheme is stabled via Von Neumman method. The obtain results are improved from earlier results. Some examples are listed to show the effusiveness and validity of the main results.

Abstract Background The most common cause of mouth and facial pain is a temporomandibular joint disorder, which affects the patient’s quality of life and interferes with their ability to perform daily tasks. Objective The purpose was to compare the effects of the Post-Isometric Relaxation Technique and Bowen’s Therapy on pain, range of motion and functional activity in patients with temporomandibular joint disorders. Methods This study was a randomized clinical trial. A total of 24 participants were randomly allocated into two groups using the lottery method. Baseline treatment was the same (ultrasound and tapping) in both groups. Group 1 (12 participants) was treated with a post-isometric relaxation technique, and Group 2 (12 participants) with Bowen’s therapy for two sessions per week (total duration of 4 weeks). Outcome measures were the Numeric Pain Rating Scale, Maximal mouth opening inter-incisal rural and jaw functional limitation scale-20. SPSS version 25 was used for statistical analysis. Abstract This manuscript offers an exhaustive analysis of Flexible Printed Circuits (FPCs), concentrating on enhancing their design to surmount two primary challenges. Firstly, it seeks to obviate contact with proximate components. Secondly, it aspires to adhere to pre-established curvature constraints. Predicated on the curvature properties of FPCs, we have developed a model adept at accurately forecasting FPC deformation under diverse conditions. Our inquiry entails a thorough examination of various FPC configurations, including bell, 'U', and 'S' shapes. Central to our methodology is the strategic optimization of FPC spatial arrangements, aiming to avert mechanical interference and control curvature, thus mitigating mechanical strain. This dual-faceted strategy is pivotal in enhancing the durability and operational reliability of FPCs, particularly in contexts demanding elevated flexibility and precision. Our research offers essential insights into the refinement of FPC design, skillfully addressing the complexities associated with curvature and physical interaction. Collectively, this study advocates a comprehensive framework for the design and implementation of FPCs, significantly advancing the field of contemporary electronics by ensuring these components meet the evolving demands of the industry.

Multidrug-resistant wound infections are a global health threat and a leading cause of death, persisting despite available treatments due to antibiotic resistance, biofilms, and ineffective drug delivery systems. The aim of this study is to (i) formulate an innovative nano-drug delivery system (NDDS) based on a Carbopol nanoemulgel (NEG) co-loaded with neomycin-silver/zinc oxide nanocomposite (NC) that could fight clinical MDR and treat biofilm-forming wound pathogens through topical application, and (ii) assess its in vivo wound-healing potential. The silver/zinc oxide (Ag/ZnO) NC was synthesized by co-inoculating the metabolites of Aspergillus welwitschiae and Meyerozyma guilliermondii. The synthesized NC was then conjugated with neomycin and loaded into a Carbopol NEG for efficient topical delivery. The resulting Neo-Ag/ZnO NEG was characterized physicochemically (e.g., UV-visible [UV-Vis] spectrophotometry, field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier transform infrared [FTIR] spectroscopy), biologically (e.g., in vitro antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and hemolytic activities), and pharmacologically (e.g., drug content, ex vivo drug release behavior, and in vivo wound-healing potential). The physicochemical analysis confirmed the successful mycosynthesis of the Carbopol NEG-loaded Neo-Ag/ZnO NC. SEM depicted a crystalline polyhedral shape of the small NC (average particle size of 38 nm). FTIR studies showed a slight interaction with the drug and other bioactive moieties in the Carbopol NEG. The Neo content in the Carbopol NEG was as high as 98%, and a maximum release of 81% for Neo, Ag, and ZnO ions was noticed after 12 h. The NDDS appeared hemocompatible and displayed a minimal inhibition concentration of 0.002 µg/mL with the greatest antimicrobial potential against S. aureus (an inhibition zone of 46 mm) compared to other tested wound microbes (p < 0.05). Statistically significant wound-healing activity was found for NDDS (p = 0.0001) in comparison to the control at a concentration of 100 mg/mL. The results showed that this newly developed Carbopol NEG-loaded neo-Ag/ZnO NC appeared promising for controlling resistant skin infections and boosting wound regeneration.

Abstract Grinding, a critical precision machining process for difficult-to-cut alloys, has undergone continual technological advancements to improve machining efficiency. However, the sustainability of this process is gaining heightened attention due to significant challenges associated with the substantial specific grinding energy and the extensive heat generated when working with difficult-to-cut alloys, renowned for their exceptional physical and mechanical properties. In response to these challenges, the widespread application of massive coolant in manufacturing industries to dissipate grinding heat has led to complex post-cleaning and disposal processes. This, in turn, has resulted in issues such as large energy consumption, a considerable carbon footprint, and concerns related to worker health and safety, which have become the main factors that restrict the development of grinding technology. This paper provides a holistic review of sustainability in grinding difficult-to-cut alloys, encompassing current trends and future directions. The examination extends to developing grinding technologies explicitly tailored for these alloys, comprehensively evaluating their sustainability performance. Additionally, the exploration delves into innovative sustainable technologies, such as heat pipe/oscillating heat pipe grinding wheels, minimum quantity lubrication, cryogenic cooling, and others. These groundbreaking technologies aim to reduce dependence on hazardous coolants, minimizing energy and resource consumption and carbon emissions associated with coolant-related or subsequent disposal processes. The essence of these technologies lies in their potential to revolutionize traditional grinding practices, presenting environmentally friendly alternatives. Finally, future development trends and research directions are put forward to pursue the current limitation of sustainable grinding for difficult-to-cut alloys. This paper can guide future research and development efforts toward more environmentally friendly grinding operations by understanding the current state of sustainable grinding and identifying emerging trends.

In this investigation, the asperities on the print surface have been reduced using a laser polishing technique. The improvement in mechanical properties (tensile and flexural strength), roughness of printed surface, and scan time of three-dimensional (3D)-printed new acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) polymers are among the industrial issues that the projected laser polishing process is explicitly intended to address. Response surface approach was used in a series of tests to determine how altering the laser's parameters influenced the test materials' top finish and the mechanical properties. The pre-polishing workpiece was compared in terms of mechanical characteristics and surface examination using a scanning electron microscope. According to the results, surface roughness was decreased by more than 18.85% for ABS utilizing laser polishing, from 8.01 to 6.50 μm. The sample's tensile strength improved by 8.1%, from 35.8 to 38.7 MPa. The samples' laser scan time was 0.143 min and the flexural strength increased by 2.58% from 58.01 to 59.51 MPa. These results demonstrate that a 3D-printed ABS polymer material's mechanical and surface qualities are enhanced by the novel post-processing laser polishing technique. In order to produce sustainable items, this innovative technique is quite helpful in the 3D printing sector.

This study investigated drinking water quality in public, private, and religious schools in Badin city, Pakistan. Physicochemical parameters were within limits except for slightly elevated pH and turbidity. The microbial analysis showed that T.C., and F.C., were found in all samples, and E. coli in 55% of the smaples, with significant differences in quantities. Microbial contaminants correlated positively with pH, turbidity, and each other, linking them to sewage, runoff, and waste. Bacterial counts exceeded WHO guidelines, and the pollution load index (PLI) demonstrated declining water quality. The water quality index (WQI) rated samples as 30% “very good,” 35% “good,” and 35% “poor ”; none were “excellent” or safe to drink. Subpar water quality poses health risks to children, potentially causing diarrhea, hepatitis A, and typhoid. To mitigate risks, infrastructure improvements, education initiatives, and public awareness campaigns are necessary for securing safe water access to support the well-being of school children and the community.

Traditionally, projects have been scheduled with a primary focus on optimizing economic bene-fits, often at the expense of environmental considerations. However, in today’s context, there is an increasing societal demand for organizations to incorporate sustainability practices into their project management policies. This research aims to address this pressing issue by developing a comprehensive mathematical model that takes into account two crucial objectives: project net present value (NPV) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This model introduces carbon emission constraints on a per-period basis, alongside the usual precedence and resource constraints. the problem represented by this model is proven to be NP-hard, which adds complexity to its solution. To tackle this challenge, two multi-objective metaheuristic algorithms, specifically the Modified Grey Wolf Optimizer (MGWO) and the Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithm 2 (SPEA2), have been employed to solve the model. Extensive comparative analyses of these me-ta heuristics across various multi-objective performance measures indicate that MGWO consistently outperforms SPEA2 in most scenarios. To illustrate the practical applicability of the pro-posed model, a real-world case study has been utilized. The results of this case study offer compelling insights, showing that project NPV can be significantly improved with only a marginal increase in GHG emissions. This finding highlights the model’s potential to provide pragmatic solutions and valuable trade-off options for project planners and practitioners striving to balance economic objectives with environmental sustainability.

Cervical cancer, the second most prevalent cancer among women worldwide, is primarily attributed to the human papillomavirus (HPV). Despite advances in healthcare, it remains a significant cause of mortality among women across diverse regions, surpassing other hereditary cancers. Early detection is pivotal, as survival rates exceed 90% when the disease is identified in its early stages. In response to this critical need, we introduce WFC2DS (Web Framework for Cervical Cancer Detection System), a novel expert web system specifically designed to revolutionize cervical cancer diagnosis. WFC2DS integrates a sophisticated ensemble of machine learning classification algorithms, including Artificial Neural Network (ANN), AdaBoost, K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Random Forest Classifier (RFC), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Decision Tree (DT). This ensemble approach enables a comprehensive analysis of a large dataset comprising information from 858 patients with 36 attributes, with the primary objective being the early detection of cervical cancer, using the last attribute, Biopsy, as the target variable. Our evaluation criteria encompass accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, and the F1 score. Among the algorithms, RFC and DT emerge as the most promising, demonstrating exceptional performance with an accuracy of 98.1% and an F1 score of 0.98. AdaBoost shows an accuracy of 97.4% and an F1 score of 0.98, ANN attains an accuracy of 97.7% and an F1 score of 0.96, SVM achieves an accuracy of 96.2% and an F1 score of 0.96, and KNN reaches an accuracy of 90.6% with an F1 score of 0.91. This research significantly contributes to reducing the global burden of cervical cancer, emphasizing transformative advancements in women’s healthcare. WFC2DS, with its cutting-edge machine learning techniques, not only improves the accuracy of cervical cancer diagnosis but also enhances the overall healthcare landscape for women worldwide.

Wheat serves as a crucial agricultural commodity and a primary dietary staple for numerous global populations. However, it faces persistent threats from various diseases targeting wheat leaves, ultimately impacting its production. Accurate and prompt automated disease diagnosis through advanced computer vision is crucial for safeguarding wheat quality. However, the literature relied on inadequate feature selection acquired from computationally expensive backbones followed by shallow layered networks. It is resultantly limiting their capacity to recognize and prioritize diseased areas effectively. Therefore, this paper introduces an optimal features-assisted lightweight framework that integrates EfficientNet-B3 with a spatial attention (SA) mechanism to capture healthy and unhealthy patterns effectively. The proposed framework harnesses this capability to address the vital regions affected by wheat diseases via an optimized, lightweight, and attentive network. Subsequently, we thoroughly analyzed several backbone features to identify robust hyperparameters conducive to achieving our lightweight objective. Furthermore, we employed SA blocks to fortify the network, directing attention efficiently towards diseased regions. The efficacy of the proposed network is validated through comprehensive evaluations conducted on both our proposed and LWDCD2020 benchmarks. Comparative analyses with existing methods consistently showcase superiority, firmly establishing our proposed approach as a viable network for wheat disease recognition. additionally, we also collected our own dataset, namely the Wheat Disease Five Classes Classification Dataset (WD5CC), and included diverse images.

The efficient arrangement of patterns on a substrate surface is of paramount importance across diverse domains, including manufacturing, design, nanotechnology, and printed electronics. This paper introduces three distinct strategies for pattern arrangement within the realm of two-dimensional cutting and packing challenges. Firstly, for irregular patterns, we have developed a modified genetic algorithm that effectively determines the spatial relationships between patterns, facilitating subsequent packing processes. Secondly, we present the “MaxiRectPack” method designed for rectangular patterns. This method utilizes partitioning techniques and a variety of orientation schemes to maximize pattern packing efficiency. Lastly, we propose a technique based on normalized 2-D cross-correlation for patterns of diverse shapes, allowing precise placement while accounting for variations in substrate and pattern energy. These methodologies are adaptable, catering to irregular, rectangular, and diverse pattern shapes, offering versatile solutions for pattern placement in the context of two-dimensional cutting and packing. With a strong emphasis on resource conservation and spatial efficiency, this research equips practitioners and researchers with practical tools for optimizing material utilization and pattern arrangement on substrates.

Rotor-to-rotor interactions have been found to significantly contribute to acoustic characteristics. The present research presents a novel idea to conduct comparative studies on the aeroacoustics characteristics of conventional, coaxial, and hybrid octocopter configurations in hover and steady forward flight to identify the configuration that has minimal noise levels. Moreover, the influence of vertical spacing in the coaxial octocopter is explored, and an aeroacoustics comparison of coaxial and hybrid configurations with larger-diameter rotors in the same confined vehicle space for missions that require a high thrust is presented at the end. The virtual blade method (VBM) is employed herein for aerodynamic analysis due to its high computational efficiency, and a numerical analysis code based on FWH equations is developed for the acoustics analysis. The hover results show that coaxial configurations produce a peak SPL value of 93 dB, which is 5 dB louder than the conventional configuration and 3 dB louder than the hybrid configuration. The coaxial configuration with 0.125 R vertical spacing produced a peak SPL of 92 dB, which is 5 dB louder than the 0.5 R and 10 dB louder than the 1.5 R. In steady forward flight with normal-sized rotors, the hybrid configuration outperformed the others with a peak SPL value of 85 dB, which is 7 dB lower than that of the conventional configuration; meanwhile, the other configurations had similar noise values. The noise attributed to larger rotors in a confined vehicle space during hover flight in the coaxial configuration is 5 dB less than that of the hybrid configuration at almost all elevation angles in the farfield; meanwhile, a 5 dB difference was observed in the front half of the vehicle in forward flight and minute differences were found in the rear half.

This study proposes a technique for effectively arranging irregularly shaped parts on a board using a modified genetic algorithm and image processing. This technique addresses the challenge of efficiently packing parts of the same shape and size to optimize the utilization of available space. The optimization process comprises three search steps focused on finding suitable spatial relationships between the parts. The first two steps employ variance and envelope area criteria to optimize the position of the patterns, while the third step considers the distance between two columns of arranged parts. To enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the search process, a local-search-based optimization is proposed. The resulting optimized spatial relationships are derived from the three-step search process. The final layout strategy selects spatial relationships to maximize pattern accommodation on the board and arranges them horizontally to optimize utilization. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in optimizing part layout for industrial production. Overall, this technique offers a solution for achieving effective packing, efficient resource utilization, and waste reduction.

Grid control systems must deal with voltage fluctuation and power losses because of the rising saturation of Renewable Energy Resources (RERs) in the Power Distribution Network (PDN). There have been several methods used to mitigate these inevitable voltage instabilities, but PV inverters are regarded as the most efficient ones. On the other hand, achieving optimum management and real-time coordination of several PV inverters in a PDN remains essential while preventing large power losses. The suggested work utilizes Decentralized Actors and Distributed Critics (DA&DC) architecture for multi-agents to obtain the optimal control and coordination of the agents (PV-inverters) incorporated into the distribution network. The critics employ a distributed control system, while the actors operate in a decentralized method. The proposed technology reduces computing complexity through multi-agent distributed training and decentralized execution. The suggested model is tested on IEEE-33, and results are obtained for the winter and summer seasons to analyze the influence of seasonal fluctuations on the outcomes of voltage variation, Power Losses (PL), Active Power (AP), and Reactive Power (ReP) of buses and PV systems. By reducing the voltage fluctuation ratio to 0.01327, the suggested approach achieves 85% voltage control. Moreover, average voltages of 0.9854 p.u. and 0.9950 p.u. were recorded throughout the summer and winter seasons, respectively. The PL are also maintained to an absolute minimum i.e., 0.0476 MW in the winter and 0.0535 MW in the summer. The results conclusively demonstrate that the proposed methodology outclasses its counterpart in both the summer and winter seasons.

Background: The co-existence of Candida albicans with the bacteria in the host tissues and organs displays interactions at competitive, antagonistic, and synergistic levels. Several pathogenic bacteria take advantage of such types of interaction for their survival and proliferation. The chemical interaction involves the signaling molecules produced by the bacteria or Candida spp., whereas the physical attachment occurs by involving the surface proteins of the bacteria and Candida. In addition, bacterial pathogens have emerged to internalize inside the C. albicans vacuole, which is one of the inherent properties of the endosymbiotic relationship between the bacteria and the eukaryotic host. Aim of review: The interaction occurring by the involvement of surface protein from diverse bacterial species with Candida species has been discussed in detail in this paper. An in silico molecular docking study was performed between the surface proteins of different bacterial species and Als3P of C. albicans to explain the molecular mechanism involved in the Als3P-dependent interaction. Furthermore, in order to understand the specificity of C. albicans interaction with Als3P, the evolutionary relatedness of several bacterial surface proteins has been investigated. Furthermore, the environmental factors that influence bacterial pathogen internalization into the Candida vacuole have been addressed. Moreover, the review presented future perspectives for disrupting the cross-kingdom interaction and eradicating the endosymbiotic bacterial pathogens. Key scientific concepts of review: With the involvement of cross-kingdom interactions and endosymbiotic relationships, the bacterial pathogens escape from the environmental stresses and the antimicrobial activity of the host immune system. Thus, the study of interactions between Candida and bacterial pathogens is of high clinical significance.

This research paper presents the development and analysis of a multifaceted smart grid prototype. It combines various technologies for the smart grid operation. The first technology is environmental analysis of smart grid and solar panel cleaning. Secondly, radio-frequency identification (RFID)-based security and access control system has been integrated for smart grid. The third component is internet of things (IoT)-based energy monitoring and load management. For environmental analysis sensors such as temperature, humidity, light-dependent resistor, and flame sensors are connected to a NodeMCU controller for real time monitoring. Moreover, IoT based solar cleaning system is developed in the form of prototype with the help of Blynk and servo motor. The second component of prototype is smart security system which is developed with the help of Arduino and RFID module to facilitate secure access control. The third part of prototype employs voltage and current sensors with an ESP32 microcontroller and the Blynk application for real-time energy consumption analysis. This setup enables remote monitoring of voltage, power dynamics, and consumption patterns in a smart grid. It also offers an IoT based solution for load management and load shedding within the smart grid. The complete prototype overall demonstrates a comprehensive approach to 1) smart grid management, 2) environmental analysis, 3) security, and 4) energy monitoring.

This research introduces the Iterative Overlap Optimization Placement (IOOP) method, a novel approach designed to enhance the efficiency of irregular pattern packing by dynamically optimizing overlap ratios and pattern placements. Utilizing a modified genetic algorithm, IOOP addresses the complexities of arranging irregular patterns in a given space, focusing on improving spatial and material efficiency. This study demonstrates the method’s superiority over the traditional Size-First Non-Iterative Overlap Optimization Placement technique through comparative analysis, highlighting significant improvements in spatial utilization, flexibility, and material conservation. The effectiveness of IOOP is further validated by its robustness in handling diverse pattern groups and its adaptability in adjusting pattern placements iteratively. This research not only showcases the potential of IOOP in manufacturing and design processes requiring precise spatial planning but also opens avenues for its application across various industries, underscoring the need for further exploration into advanced technological integrations for tackling complex spatial optimization challenges.

Background and Objectives: Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii), particularly carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii (CRAB), represents a grave concern in healthcare settings and is associated with high mortality. This study aimed to conduct molecular, mutational, and phylogenetic analyses of specific genes in CRAB and evaluate the synergistic effects of selected antimicrobial combinations. Materials and Methods: Phenotypic characterization was performed on six CRAB strains by using the Modified Hodge Test (MHT) and IMP-EDTA Double-Disc Synergy Test (IMP-EDTA DDST). Carbapenemase- and metallo-beta-lactamase-encoding genes were amplified by using Polymerase Chain Reaction. Phylogenetic analysis using the MEGA 11 tool was used to determine the evolutionary relatedness of these genes. Mutational analysis was performed by using I-Mutant, MUPro, and PHD-SNP bioinformatics tools to predict mutations in the carbapenemase-encoding genes. Microdilution checkerboard titration assessed the synergistic effects of antimicrobial combinations (azithromycin–meropenem, rifampicin–meropenem, meropenem–colistin, and azithromycin–colistin) on these CRAB isolates. Results: The phenotypic characterization of six CRAB isolates revealed positive results for MHT and IMP-EDTA DDST. The molecular characterization revealed that carbapenemase- and MBL-encoding genes were present in all isolates with varying frequencies, including blaOXA-51 (100%) and blaIMP (0%). The sequence analysis revealed high evolutionary relatedness to sequences in the NCBI database. The mutational analysis identified 16 mutations, of which 1 mutation (P116L) in the blaOXA-58 gene predicted a change in the protein product, potentially contributing to carbapenem resistance. The checkerboard titration method did not reveal any synergism among the tested antimicrobial combinations against CRAB. Conclusion: This study’s findings underscore the significant challenges posed by CRAB isolates harboring multiple resistant genes in treatment. This highlights the urgent need for novel antimicrobial agents, a crucial step towards reducing mortality rates not only in Pakistan but also globally.

Blockchain is topical in many areas of science. The impact on clinical care of physicians is not known.We undertook a rapid review of the literature to identify areas of interest for clinicians in active practice focusing on evidence relevant to clinical care.We found limited evidence for use blockchain in clinical practice with most studies focusing on technical aspects of prototypes and implementation with no evidence of standardised metric to measure impact for patients, clinicians, and organisations. Personal Health Records for use across organisational and geographic boundaries emerged as the strongest clinical use-case.Defined metrics by professional bodies might aid research, development, and future impact.

Abstract Background and Aims Poliomyelitis is an acute neurologic condition that causes muscle weakness, permanent flaccid paralysis, and even death. The world has seen a drastic fall in the number of poliovirus cases owing to effective immunization programs and preventive measures. Pakistan and Afghanistan still remain the two endemic countries for poliovirus, particularly, the WPV1 strain. Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) has set a target to eradicate all WPV1 cases by the end of 2023. However, the re‐emergence of WPV1 cases has posed a serious setback for the achievement of this target. This article aims to discuss the public health challenges that contribute to resurgence of poliovirus cases. Methods A comprehensive literature search was conducted using various databases including Cochrane, Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, MEDLINE. Only articles written in English were considered. All the articles reporting the incidence of poliovirus and WPV1 cases in Pakistan, surveillance data and global context of poliovirus outbreak were evaluated to write this correspondence. In addition, references from the selected articles were also examined to ensure a comprehensive review of the literature. Results This article highlights the factors contributing to the re‐emergence of WPV1 cases in Pakistan. Low vaccine coverage, attacks on frontline polio health workers, misinformation, and reluctance to vaccine acceptance pose a daunting challenge for polio eradication. Further, gaps in AFP surveillance and sensitivity may underestimate the true extent of the emerging genetic clusters. The Covid‐19 pandemic and subsequent flooding in the affected area have further worsened the underdeveloped public health infrastructure. Conclusion Despite the challenges, the country has observed a significant decline in the number of cases in the past 2 years. It is high time to capitalize on the decrease in WPV1 cases by intensifying the efforts to mitigate and limit the spread of the disease.

The drilling process plays a crucial role in the assembly process of modern-day manufactories. One of the major causes of component rejection during drilling operations is the incorrect selection of spindle speed and feed rate. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the impact of process factors such as spindle speed and feed rate on torque, thrust force, temperature surface roughness, and chip formation during the drilling of AISI 1020 mild steel. A combination of finite element modeling and experimental investigation was employed to achieve the process. Specifically, the commercially available finite element software, Deform 3D, was used for simulation. The modeling results were then compared and validated with the experimental data. A high-speed steel drill bit was utilized during the modeling and experimentation. The spindle speed was varied at 330, 410, and 510 rpm, while the feed rates were set at 0.12, 0.2, and 0.3 mm/rev. The study’s findings suggest that the spindle speed has an inverse relationship with thrust force, torque, and surface roughness, whereas it has a direct relationship with temperature. Conversely, the feed rate directly correlates with thrust force, torque, temperature, and surface roughness. Additionally, an analysis of the chips produced during the experiments revealed the impact of the cutting conditions on chip formation. The study results showed a 2–10% discrepancy between the experimental and simulation data. The ANOVA results indicated that the feed rate contributes the most to thrust force and torque, with a percentage contribution of 61.73% and 59.87%, respectively, followed by spindle speed, with a percentage contribution of 37.09% and 38.89%, respectively. Furthermore, temperature influences spindle speed the most, followed by feed rate, with percentage contributions of 67.75% and 31.11%, respectively. Moreover, the feed rate’s percentage contribution to surface roughness is higher than the spindle speed, with a contribution of 66.20% and 32.18%, respectively.

The presence of pharmaceuticals in the aquatic environment presents a challenge to modern science. The most significant impact this can induce is the emergence of antibiotic resistance, which can lead to a global health emergency. It is important to note that the impact of pharmaceuticals in the aquatic environment is not limited to antibiotic resistance. Pharmaceuticals can also affect the behaviour and reproductive systems of aquatic organisms, with cascading effects on entire ecosystems. Numerous studies have reported the emergence of pharmaceuticals due to the uncontrolled disposal of polluted domestic, agricultural, and industrial wastewater in water bodies. This work discusses the potential of pharmaceuticals that on one hand are highly important for mankind, yet their non-judicious usage and disposal induce equally intriguing and problematic conditions to the health of aquatic systems. Pathways through which pharmaceutics can make their way into water bodies are discussed. Furthermore, the risk imposed by pharmaceuticals on aquatic life is also elaborated. The possible and pragmatic remediation methods through which pharmaceutical products can be treated are also discussed. Emphasis is placed on the potential of phytoremediation and advanced oxidative process, and the factors affecting the efficacy of these remediation methods are discussed.

In this article, the notion of Hausdorff fuzzy $ b $-metric space is studied. Some fixed point results for multivalued mappings using Geraghty type contractions in $ G $-complete fuzzy $ b $-metric spaces are established. To strengthen the results, an illustrative example is furnished. A fuzzy integral inclusion is constructed as an application of fixed point result which shows the validity of the proved results. The presented outcomes are the generalization of the existing results in literature.

Abstract A major challenge in biotechnology and biomanufacturing is the identification of a set of biomarkers for perturbations and metabolites of interest. Here, we develop a data-driven, transcriptome-wide approach to rank perturbation-inducible genes from time-series RNA sequencing data for the discovery of analyte-responsive promoters. This provides a set of biomarkers that act as a proxy for the transcriptional state referred to as cell state. We construct low-dimensional models of gene expression dynamics and rank genes by their ability to capture the perturbation-specific cell state using a novel observability analysis. Using this ranking, we extract 15 analyte-responsive promoters for the organophosphate malathion in the underutilized host organism Pseudomonas fluorescens SBW25. We develop synthetic genetic reporters from each analyte-responsive promoter and characterize their response to malathion. Furthermore, we enhance malathion reporting through the aggregation of the response of individual reporters with a synthetic consortium approach, and we exemplify the library’s ability to be useful outside the lab by detecting malathion in the environment. The engineered host cell, a living malathion sensor, can be optimized for use in environmental diagnostics while the developed machine learning tool can be applied to discover perturbation-inducible gene expression systems in the compendium of host organisms.

Background and Objective: The current coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has triggered a worldwide health and economic crisis. The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) causes the disease and completes its life cycle using the RNA-dependent RNA-polymerase (RdRp) enzyme, a prominent target for antivirals. In this study, we have computationally screened ∼690 million compounds from the ZINC20 database and 11,698 small molecule inhibitors from DrugBank to find existing and novel non-nucleoside inhibitors for SARS-CoV-2 RdRp. Methods: Herein, a combination of the structure-based pharmacophore modeling and hybrid virtual screening methods, including per-residue energy decomposition-based pharmacophore screening, molecular docking, pharmacokinetics, and toxicity evaluation were employed to retrieve novel as well as existing RdRp non-nucleoside inhibitors from large chemical databases. Besides, molecular dynamics simulation and Molecular Mechanics/Generalized Born Surface Area (MM/GBSA) method were used to investigate the binding stability and calculate the binding free energy of RdRp–inhibitor complexes. Results: Based on docking scores and significant binding interactions with crucial residues (Lys553, Arg557, Lys623, Cys815, and Ser816) in the RNA binding site of RdRp, three existing drugs, ZINC285540154, ZINC98208626, ZINC28467879, and five compounds from ZINC20 (ZINC739681614, ZINC1166211307, ZINC611516532, ZINC1602963057, and ZINC1398350200) were selected, and the conformational stability of RdRp due to their binding was confirmed through molecular dynamics simulation. The free energy calculations revealed these compounds possess strong binding affinities for RdRp. In addition, these novel inhibitors exhibited drug-like features, good absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion profile and were found to be non-toxic. Conclusion: The compounds identified in the study by multifold computational strategy can be validated in vitro as potential non-nucleoside inhibitors of SARS-CoV-2 RdRp and holds promise for the discovery of novel drugs against COVID-19 in future.

Non-prescription cannabidiol (CBD) and medical marijuana (cannabis) currently do not have US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved prescribing information nor a dedicated resource to evaluate potential cannabinoid drug-drug interactions with other medications. The CANNabinoid Drug Interaction Review (CANN-DIR™) is a free web-based platform that has been developed to screen for potential drug-drug interactions from the perspective of how a cannabinoid delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD, or a combination of THC/CBD may affect the metabolism of another prescribed medication. CANN-DIR™ is based on FDA-approved prescribing information for the prescription cannabinoids (dronabinol, nabilone, nabiximols, and prescription CBD) and other FDA-approved prescribing information for medications sharing similar metabolic enzymes (e.g., the FDA “Drug Development and Drug Interactions: Table of Substrates, Inhibitors and Inducers”). The Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC) was the source of drug-drug interaction information for the combined ∆9-THC & CBD product nabiximols (Sativex®). CANN-DIR™ provides an expeditious review of cannabinoid drug-drug interaction information, and also a platform from which the patient and health care provider can print out the search results to either initiate a conversation, or for the health care provider to provide a written information sheet to supplement their verbal discussion. A graph G is said to be determined by its (signless) Laplacian permanental polynomial if all the graphs having the same (signless) Laplacian permanental polynomial with G are isomorphic to G. A graph G is said to be combinedly determined by its Laplacian and signless Laplacian permanental polynomials if all the graphs having (i) the same Laplacian permanental polynomial as [Formula: see text] and (ii) the same signless Laplacian permanental polynomial as [Formula: see text] are isomorphic to G. We show that a kind of caterpillar graphs [Formula: see text] (for [Formula: see text]), wheel graph (up to 7 vertices) and friendship graph (up to 7 vertices) are determined by their (signless) Laplacian permanental polynomials. Further we prove that all friendship graphs and wheel graphs are combinedly determined by their Laplacian and signless Laplacian permanental polynomials.

The concept of achieving perfect absorption of electromagnetic (EM) waves has engendered substantial interest in diverse applications, encompassing photoelectric conversions, infrared imaging, energy harvesting, and photovoltaics. Conventionally, absorber materials of choice have revolved around the utilization of refractory metals. However, this article proposes a pioneering proposition that uses quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) material i.e., MXene, and uses ceramics material aluminum nitride (AlN) to forge a polarization-insensitive broadband absorber. This ultra-broadband meta-absorber showcases an expanse of absorbance across a comprehensive spectral range, spanning from the ultraviolet (UV) to Near-infrared (NIR) regions, specifically extending from 200 nm to 2000 nm. To previse the angular stability of the meta-absorber, the absorptivity was examined under oblique incidence in both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarizations exhibiting the robustness of broadband absorber. MXene shows exceptional mechanical flexibility, facilitating seamless integration into flexible electronics. Their large specific surface area holds significant promise for high-performance energy storage in applications including energy harvesting, photovoltaics, solar cells, and sensors. These unique characteristics position them at the forefront of material science, driving advancements in next-generation technologies.

In medicine, "imaging" refers to the technique or technology of seeing in or out of a living organism to discern the constituent parts of that body. During the operation, the medical diagnosis is examined, an analysis of the disease is performed, and image data sets that are considered normal and abnormal are created. Two different types of images are used in the medical profession. These are medical images that use visible light and those that use invisible light. A radiologist can only decipher the first category of medical images, but a person of average intelligence can understand the second category of medical images. Both segmentation and feature extraction are required to analyze all of them. The authors of this study limit the scope of their research to tumor detection by mammography or magnetic resonance imaging. While there is a wide range of medical imaging techniques, they focus on these two approaches. The authors of this article address several methods for the medical image preprocessing step, known as segmentation and feature extraction.

In urban settings, buildings create complex turbulent conditions, affecting helicopter flight performance during missions and increasing safety risks during takeoff and landing. A numerical study on rotor–building coupled flow field is carried out to address rotor aerodynamic performance under building interferences in natural atmospheric conditions. A high-fidelity atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) model described by an exponential law is established herein. The solution of the coupled flow field is based on the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations, with the rotor’s rotation achieved through the overset grid method. Based on the dominant wind features, the building flow field is distributed into four regions, where the updraft along the headwind side impacts the rotor, bringing about a 76% increase in pitching moment. On the lateral side of the building, distorted rotor wake squeezed upward into the rotor disk, leading to severe blade–vortex interaction (BVI). During low-altitude hovering over rooftops, the mixing of building shed vortices with forward flow wakes causes the formation of a circulation region on the rotor’s windward side, resulting in a thrust loss of approximately 7.8%. Meanwhile, the flow environment on the leeward side of the buildings is more stable. Therefore, it is recommended that helicopters adopt a headwind approach during rooftop operations. However, an 11.4% loss in the average hover figure of merit is observed due to consistent thrust losses caused by the recirculation region.

The potential of Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) technology to produce very complex geometrics has a profound impact on the physical world. Practitioners in the industry are developing predictive methods for assessing key parameters and responses of engineering materials. Enterprises are trying to solve problems such as Flexural Strength (FS), Average Surface Roughness (Ra), Tensile Strength (TS), sustainability including energy efficacy, and time management problems. This study's objective is divided into two main parts. The First part includes the parametric investigations of Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG) polymer to optimize the mechanical properties, Ra, and sustainability, including Print Time (T) and Printer Energy consumption (E) of samples using the FFF technique. In second part, samples were printed at optimized parametric values and further post-processed to enhance the responses such as TS, FS, Ra, and Laser Scan Time (Tl) using CO2 laser polishing treatment. FFF with PETG, a biodegradable material, is commonly used in various fields, despite the traditionally significant surface roughness of FFF products. In pre-processing, by optimizing 3D printed parameters, FS of 69.9 MPa, lowest Ra of 6.8 μm, TS of 45.1 MPa, lowest T of 53 min and E of 0.20 kWh were attained. In post-processing, the Ra decreased by more than 58.38% due to laser polishing (6.8 μm–2.81 μm). The TS increased by 8.89%, from 45.1 MPa to 49.11 MPa. SEM investigation revealed that the gaps in the material lowered the FS by 5.09%, from 69.9 MPa to 66.34 MPa and Tl for 0.22 min. The fracture morphologies were studied as a means of learning more about the reinforcing process in the future. These outcomes prove that laser scanning can improve and alter the surface of an FFF product.

Background: Poor posture and bad working environment ergonomics are the common causes of advancement in cervical pain. Acute neck pain is abrupt, intense pain and it typically subsides within days or weeks. Chronic neck pain felt most of the time and last for more than 3 months. Objective: To determine the frequency of posture related neck pain among medical students and to explore the association between neck pain and posture adopted while using laptop and mobile phone. Methodology: The study was carried out in medical colleges of Rawalpindi and Islamabad from March to August 2021.A total of 106 medical students were included in the study. A questionnaire was administered to obtain information about demographic characteristics, pain intensity (Numeric Pain Rating Scale NPRS) and postural adaptation (Modified student laptop use and neck pain risk questionnaire) while using laptop and mobile phone. SPSS 23 was used for data analysis. Results: A total of 106 participants were selected in the study out of which 86(80.1%) were females and 18(18.9%) were males. The overall mean age was (21.83±1.96) years. The frequency of posture related neck pain was 51(48.1%). The most adopted posture during use of laptop and mobile phone was neck flexion and p-value was 0.00. Conclusion: The frequency of posture related neck pain was high among medical students. The major risk factor was poor posture and prolonged use of laptop and mobile phone.

Rice production is threatened by climate change, particularly heat stress (HS). Nonstructural carbohydrates (NSCs) remobilization is a key physiological mechanism that allows rice plants to cope with HS. To investigate the impact of short-term HS on the remobilization of nonstructural carbohydrates (NSCs) in rice, two cultivars (Huaidao-5 and Wuyunjing-24) were subjected to varying temperature regimes: 32/22/27 °C as the control treatment, alongside 40/30/35 °C and 44/34/39 °C, for durations of 2 and 4 days during the booting, flowering, and combined stages (booting + flowering) within phytotrons across the years 2016 and 2017. The findings revealed that the stem’s NSC concentration increased, while the panicle’s NSCs concentration, the efficiency of NSCs translocation from the stem, and the stem NSC contribution to grain yield exhibited a consistent decline. Additionally, sugar and starch concentrations increased in leaves and stems during late grain filling and maturity stages, while in panicles, the starch concentration decreased and sugar concentration increased. The heat-tolerant cultivar, Wuyunjing-24, exhibited higher panicle NSC accumulation under HS than the heat-sensitive cultivar, Huaidao-5, which had more stem NSC accumulation. The flowering stage was the most vulnerable to HS, followed by the combined and booting stages. Heat degree days (HDDs) were utilized to quantify the effects of HS on NSC accumulation and translocation, revealing that the flowering stage was the most affected. These findings suggest that severe HS makes the stem the primary carbohydrate storage sink, and alleviation under combined HS aids in evaluating NSC accumulation, benefiting breeders in developing heat-tolerant rice varieties.

In this article the energy & exergy analysis of forced convection solar dryer for drying of garlic has been investigated. The exergy parameter, air velocity has been taken to conduct the experiments and its effect on thermal efficiency. Forced draft fans were used in all the two working conditions. During the two conditions, with and without sensible heat storage system, the average air-velocities were 4.5, 9.5 and 11.4 m/s selected as ideal and subsequently its entire effect on thermal efficiency and outlet. The ambient temperatures were between (17-25) °C during the month of October and November. A DC fan is directly connected to the photovoltaic cell in the solar dryer. The thermal energy storage bed was packed with gravels with 1.5 in of thickness up to the surface of flat plate collector, the storage system becomes space-efficient. The average thermal efficiency with sensible heat storage materials was high as compared to system without sensible heat storage. The highest thermal efficiency of 61% was achieved. The maximum collector temperature obtained was 55 °C, with a mean temperature of 42 °C in the drying chamber. The collector’s greatest exergy loss was 30.38 kJ/kg and highest exergy efficiency was 70%.
