Abstract Identifying pigments from colored relics is essential for their color restoration and for facsimile creation. A workflow for identifying pigment information is constructed based on visible spectral imaging technology, aligned with the drawing process of colored relics. This workflow includes three steps: boundary extraction, material identification and prediction of mixture proportions. The methods for segmenting visible spectral images, identifying chemical compositions, and predicting mixture proportions of pigments are extensively reviewed. Future research trends of these methods are also analyzed. The influence of the pigment particle size is currently underexplored but can be accomplished by multidisciplinary research.

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a catastrophic condition associated with spinal nerve damage, which can lead to complete or partial loss of sensory and motor functions. Chinese herbal compound prescriptions (CHCP) have shown varying degrees of therapeutic effects on spinal cord injuries. However, there is a significant lack of clinical evidence-based research to substantiate these effects. Purpose: This study aims to thoroughly assess the viability of CHCPs in postoperative SCI through network meta-analysis. Methods: Computer searches were conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, and CBM, from their inception until May 2024. The meta-analysis adhered to the PRISMA guidelines and was registered in the PROSPERO database (CRD42023462686). A network meta-analysis was performed using the BUGSnet software package via R. Study design: A network meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials (RCTs). Results: A total of 26 RCTs involving 1848 patients were ultimately included. The network meta-analysis revealed the effectiveness in improving ASIA motor score as follows: “HQGZD” > “Other Decoctions” > “BYHWD” > “TDHXD” > “THCQD” > “Surgery”. For ASIA sensory score, the effectiveness ranking was: “HQGZD” > “Other Decoctions” > “BYHWD” > “TDHXD” > “THCQD” > “Surgery”. This study aimed to explore the moderating role of socioeconomic status (SES) in the association between multimorbidity and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) among cancer patients in Anhui China. A total of 560 cancer patients were recruited for the cross-section study. Socio-demographic and clinical characteristics were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Tobit regression analysis was employed to investigate the relationship between multimorbidity and HRQOL as well as to assess the moderating effect of SES. The research findings indicated that 76.61% of cancer patients experienced multimorbidity, with psychological multimorbidity being the most prevalent (45.54%), followed by physical-psychological multimorbidity (20.89%). Moreover, physical-psychological multimorbidity had the most substantial adverse effect on HRQOL ( P < .001). The presence of multimorbidity was correlated with a significant decline in HRQOL, with a 17.5% ( P < .001) decrease in HRQOL for each additional multimorbidity. Additionally, SES played a significant role in moderating the impact of multimorbidity on HRQOL in cancer patients. (Marginal effect = −0.022, P < .01). The high SES group exhibited a higher overall HRQOL than the low SES group (Marginal effect = 0.068, P < .001). And with the increase of multimorbidity, HRQOL in the higher SES showed a more pronounced downward trend, compared with the lower SES ( β = −.270 vs β = −.201, P < .001). Our findings underscore the importance of preventing and managing multimorbidity in cancer patients, particularly those with low SES. Furthermore, it is essential to consider the impact of the rapid decline in HRQOL as the number of multimorbidity increases in individuals with higher SES. It is imperative to explore interdisciplinary and continuous collaborative management models.

This study aimed to explore the process of ultrasound-assisted extraction of mangiferin from mango kernels. Through single factor experiments and Box-Behnken response surface design, investigated the effects of five factors: Material liquid ratio, ethanol concentration, ultrasound temperature, ultrasound time, and ultrasound power on the extraction rate of mangiferin. The results showed that the optimal extraction parameters were as follows: Ethanol concentration of 75%, liquid-to-solid ratio of 1:50 g/mL, ultrasonic temperature of 45 ℃, ultrasonic time of 40 min, and ultrasonic power of 288 W. Under this optimal process condition, the yield of mangiferin was 4.78%, with a predicted value of 4.75%. This study can provide a theoretical reference for the extraction of mangiferin from mango kernels.

Background and aimsThe optimal interventional strategy remains undetermined in hemodynamically stable patients with NSTEMI and MVD. This study aimed to examine clinical prognosis among culprit vessel, immediate multivessel, and staged percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with NSTEMI and MVD.MethodsThis retrospective, observational, single-center study included 943 hemodynamically stable patients with NSTEMI and MVD who had undergone successful drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation from January 2014 to December 2019. Patients were categorized into culprit lesion-only PCI (CL-PCI), immediate multivessel PCI (MV-PCI), and out-of-hospital staged MV-PCI according to PCI strategy. The primary outcome was the composite of major adverse cardiac events (MACEs), including all-cause death, myocardial infarction (MI), or unplanned repeat revascularization. The secondary outcomes were all-cause death, cardiac death, MI, and unplanned repeat revascularization.ResultsOver a median follow-up of 59 months, immediate MV-PCI was associated with a lower risk of all-cause death than CL-PCI (HR: 0.591, 95%CI: 0.364–0.960, P = 0.034). Out-of-hospital staged MV-PCI was associated with a reduced risk of MACE (HR: 0.448, 95%CI: 0.314–0.638, P < 0.001) and all-cause death (HR: 0.326, 95%CI: 0.183–0.584, P < 0.001) compared with CL-PCI. The above results were accordant after multivariate COX analysis and propensity score matching. MACE (HR: 0.560, 95%CI: 0.385–0.813, P = 0.002) and repeat revascularization (HR: 0.627, 95%CI: 0.400–0.982, P = 0.041) were significantly less likely to occur with out-of-hospital MV-PCI rather than immediate MV-PCI. However, the incidences of primary and secondary outcomes were comparable between immediate and staged PCI after confounder adjustment using multivariate regression and propensity score matching analysis. For subgroup analyses stratified by synergy between PCI with taxus and cardiac surgery score, staged MV-PCI was found to lower the risk of MACE compared with immediate MV-PCI in patients with more complex coronary disease.ConclusionHemodynamically stable patients with NSTEMI and MVD benefited from the strategy of MV-PCI. Patients with complex coronary anatomy treated with out-of-hospital staged MV-PCI rather than immediate MV-PCI had lower risks of MACE. These need to be confirmed in the future randomized study.

Abstract Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), an autoimmune astrocytopathic disease associated with the anti-aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibody, is characterized by extensive necrotic lesions primarily located on the optic nerves and spinal cord. Tanshinone IIA (TSA), an active natural compound extracted from Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge, has profound immunosuppressive effects on neutrophils. Objective The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of TSA on NMOSD mice and explore the underlying mechanisms. Mice were initially administered TSA (pre-TSA group, n = 20) or vehicle (vehicle group, n = 20) every 8 h for 3 days, and then NMOSD model was induced by intracerebral injection of NMOSD-immunoglobulin G (NMO-IgG) and human complement (hC). In addition, post-TSA mice (n = 10) were administered equal dose of TSA at 8 h and 16 h after model induction. At 24 h after intracerebral injection, histological analysis was performed to assess the inhibitory effects of TSA on astrocyte damage, demyelination, and neuroinflammation in NMOSD mice, and western blotting was conducted to clarify the effect of TSA on the NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways. Furthermore, flow cytometry and western blotting were conducted to verify the proapoptotic effects of TSA on neutrophils in vitro. Results There was a profound reduction in astrocyte damage and demyelination in the pre-TSA group and post-TSA group. However, prophylactic administration of TSA induced a better effect than therapeutic treatment. The number of infiltrated neutrophils was also decreased in the lesions of NMOSD mice that were pretreated with TSA. We confirmed that prophylactic administration of TSA significantly promoted neutrophil apoptosis in NMOSD lesions in vivo, and this proapoptotic effect was mediated by modulating the caspase pathway in the presence of inflammatory stimuli in vitro. In addition, TSA restricted activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway in vivo. Conclusion Our data provide evidence that TSA can act as a prophylactic agent that reduces NMO-IgG-induced damage in the mouse brain by enhancing the resolution of inflammation by inducing neutrophil apoptosis, and TSA may serve as a promising therapeutic agent for neutrophil-associated inflammatory disorders, such as NMOSD.

Abstract Background The triglyceride-glucose index (TyG index) has been regarded as a reliable alternative marker of insulin resistance and an independent predictor of cardiovascular outcomes. Whether the TyG index predicts adverse cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes and acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains uncertain. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of the TyG index in patients with diabetes and ACS. Methods A total of 2531 consecutive patients with diabetes who underwent coronary angiography for ACS were enrolled in this study. Patients were divided into tertiles according to their TyG index. The primary outcomes included the occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs), defined as all-cause death, non-fatal myocardial infarction and non-fatal stroke. The TyG index was calculated as the ln (fasting triglyceride level [mg/dL] × fasting glucose level [mg/dL]/2). Results The incidence of MACE increased with TyG index tertiles at a 3-year follow-up. The Kaplan–Meier curves showed significant differences in event-free survival rates among TyG index tertiles (P = 0.005). Background and Aims: Studies have highlighted the role of the triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio on subsequent cardiovascular events. However, the association of the TG/HDL-C ratio with survival outcomes in diabetic patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) treated with statins remains unknown. This study aimed to assess the predictive value of the TG/HDL-C ratio for all-cause mortality and cardiovascular death in diabetic patients with CAD treated with statins.Methods: The data of patients with type 2 diabetes and angiographically-confirmed CAD who were undergoing statin therapy and visited Tianjin Chest Hospital between January 2016 and September 2016 were retrospectively collected. The patients were categorized based on the baseline TG/HDL-C ratio tertile. Kaplan-Meier analysis and multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression were applied to assess the role of the TG/HDL-C ratio in predicting all-cause mortality and cardiovascular death.Results: A total of 2,080 patients were included. During the 4-year follow-up, 209 patients died, 136 of whom from cardiovascular death. The Kaplan-Meier analyses showed that an increased TG/HDL-C ratio was associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality (P < 0.001) and cardiovascular death (P < 0.001). The multivariate cox hazard regression analysis revealed a similar effect of the TG/HDL-C ratio on the risk of all-cause mortality (P = 0.046) and cardiovascular death (P = 0.009). The role of the TG/HDL-C ratio in predicting all-cause mortality and cardiovascular death was similar among all subgroups (P > 0.050). For all-cause mortality, the TG/HDL-C ratio significantly improved the C-statistic from 0.799 to 0.812 (P = 0.018), and the net reclassification index (NRI) and integrated discrimination index (IDI) were 0.252 (95% CI: 0.112–0.392; P < 0.001) and 0.012 (95% CI: 0.003–0.022; P = 0.012), respectively. Similarly, for cardiovascular death, the TG/HDL-C ratio significantly improved the C-statistic from 0.771 to 0.804 (P < 0.001), and the NRI and IDI were 0.508 (95% CI: 0.335–0.680; P < 0.001) and 0.033 (95% CI: 0.015–0.050; P < 0.001).Conclusion: TG/HDL-C ratio might be useful for predicting all-cause mortality and cardiovascular death in diabetic patients with CAD treated with statins.

Abstract Western Liaoning is a unique region in China that bears diverse types of Jurassic plants, including leaves, fern rhizomes, and wood, providing significant proxy for vegetation and palaeoenvironment reconstruction of the well-known Yanliao Flora in East Asia. In particular, the silicified wood is very abundant in the fossil Lagerstätte of the Jurassic Tiaojishan Formation in Beipiao, western Liaoning. Previous and recent systematic investigations documented a high diversity of the Jurassic wood assemblages. These assemblages are dominated by conifers, followed by cycads and ginkgoaleans. In total, about 30 species belonging to 21 genera of fossil wood have been recorded so far, which are represented by Cycadopsida, Ginkgopsida, Coniferopsida, and Gymnospermae incertae sedis. The evolutionary implications of several distinctive fossil wood taxa as well as palaeoclimate implications are summarized based on their anatomical structures and growth ring patterns. This work approaches the vegetation development and evolutionary significances of the wood taxa and their relatives, and provides clues for the further understanding of the diversity of the Jurassic Yanliao Flora in East Asia.

We establish stability and characteristics of two-dimensional (2D) vortex ring-shaped quantum droplets (QDs) formed by binary Bose–Einstein condensates. The system is modeled by the Gross–Pitaevskii (GP) equation with the cubic term multiplied by a logarithmic factor (as produced by the Lee-Huang-Yang correction to the mean-field theory) and a potential which is a periodic function of the radial coordinate. Narrow vortex rings with high values of the topological charge, trapped in particular circular troughs of the radial potential, are produced. These results suggest an experimentally relevant method for the creation of vortical QDs (thus far, only zero-vorticity ones have been reported). The 2D GP equation for the narrow rings is approximately reduced to the one-dimensional form, which makes it possible to study the modulational stability of the rings against azimuthal perturbations. Full stability areas are delineated for these modes. The trapping capacity of the circular troughs is identified for the vortex rings with different winding numbers (WNs). Stable compound states in the form of mutually nested concentric multiple rings are constructed too, including ones with opposite signs of the WNs. Other robust compound states combine a modulationally stable narrow ring in one circular potential trough and an azimuthal soliton performing orbital motion in an adjacent one. The results may be used to design a device employing coexisting ring-shaped modes with different WNs for data storage.

The asymmetric unit of the title inorganic–organic salt, poly[di(μ2-2-hydroxypropanoato)cadmium], [Cd(C3H5O3)2]n or [Cd(Hlac)2]n (H2lac = 2-hydroxypropanoic acid), comprises of a cadmium cation and two 2-hydroxypropanoate anions. The cadmium cation exhibits a distorted pentagonal–bipyramidal coordination environment defined by the hydroxy and carbonyl O atoms of the 2-hydroxypropanoate anions. The coordination mode leads to the formation of layers extending parallel to (010). O—H...O hydrogen bonding between the hydroxy and carbonyl groups stabilizes the structure packing.
