Pregnancy is a state of signicant metabolic, endocrinological, immunological and vascular changes which lead to varied cutaneous changes. The cutaneous manifestations could be physiological changes, pregnancy specic dermatoses and skin conditions that are affected by pregnancy. The aim of this study was to nd the incidence of pregnancy dermatoses and characterize the various cutaneous manifestations seen in pregnant women. Methods: It was a cross-sectional descriptive study done over 2-year period from September 2016 to September 2018. All pregnant women presenting to the dermatology outpatient with complaints of skin disorders were recruited for the study. Informed consent was taken and the detailed examination ndings recorded. A total of 200 pregnant women were included i Results: n the study. Mean age was 25.5 years. Majority of participants were primigravida 130(65%). Most common presenting complaint (126 cases, 63%) was itching. Majority of participants (113) presented in the third trimester. Physiological skin changes pertaining to pregnancy was noted in 91(45.5%) participants, 156(78%) had pregnancy non-specic dermatoses and 39(19.5%) had pregnancy specic dermatoses. Hyperpigmentation and striae gravidarum were seen in 24% pregnant women. Among the pregnancy-nonspecic dermatoses infections was the most common condition (76 cases, 38%). Fungal infections constituted the majority, followed by viral and bacterial infections. STI were seen in 5 patients. Polymorphic eruption of pregnancy was the most common pregnancy specic dermatoses seen in 38 (19%) women. Thirty-three of these patients were primi in their 3rd trimester, 5 were in 2nd trimester. Atopic eruption of pregnancy was seen only in 1(0.5%) participant. Hyperpigmentation and stria Conclusion: e gravidarum are the most common physiological changes seen in pregnancy. Pregnancy predisposes to a wide variety of infections of which fungal infections are most common, followed by viral. Polymorphic eruption of pregnancy is the most common pregnancy specic dermatoses.

H syndrome (OMIM 6027820) is a novel form of histiocytosis affecting multiple organs with peculiar cutaneous manifestations. It is an autosomal recessive genodermatosis caused by pathogenic mutations in SLC29A3 that encodes the human equilibrative nucleoside transporter, hENT3. The cutaneous manifestations can mimic other sclerodermoid conditions. We present a 15-year-old boy diagnosed with H syndrome with typical clinical features and homozygosity for a novel pathogenic mutation.

>Background: HLA-DRB1*04, -DRB1*08, -DRB1*14, -DQB1*03 and -DQB1*05 are reported to have significant association with pemphigus vulgaris; however, this is partially dependent on ethnicity. This study was done to determine the HLA-DR and -DQ types prevalent in Indian patients with pemphigus vulgaris. Methods: A prospective case–control study was done for a period of 9 months in Christian Medical College Vellore, India. HLA typing was done by PCR-SSOP method in 50 cases and 50 healthy controls. Allele frequencies in cases and controls were compared and odds ratios with 95% confidence interval were calculated. >Results: The mean age of the patients (29 females, 21 males) and that of controls (36 males, 14 females) were 41.3 ± 13.65 and 35.42 ± 11.09 years, respectively. HLA-DRB1*14 was present in 47 patients and 18 controls (OR, 27.85; 95% CI, 7.57–102.42) and HLA-DQB1*05 was seen in 47 patients and 24 controls (OR, 16.97; 95% CI, 4.66–61.80). The haplotype DRB1*14, DQB1*05 was present in 44 patients and 14 controls (OR, 18.86; 95% CI, 6.58–54.05). DRB1*15 was present in 7 cases and 16 controls (OR, 0.35; 95% CI, 0.13–0.94) and DQB1*06 was present in 8 cases and 19 controls (OR, 0.31; 95% CI, 0.12–0.80). HLA-DQB1*03 was associated with significantly higher pemphigus disease area index scores. >Limitations: The main limitations were that the numbers studied were small as the study was conducted at a single center, and the haplotype analysis was limited only to the proband. PDAI scores could have been influenced by prior treatment. Conclusion: There was a significant association between HLA-DRB1*14 and HLA-DQB1*05 and pemphigus vulgaris in our patients. A negative association was seen with DRB1*15 and DQB1*06.
