The 110 kDa/Rhop-3 rhoptry protein of Plasmodium falciparum is non-covalently associated with two other proteins, the 140 kDa Rhop-1 and the 130 kDa Rhop-2. cDNAs encoding Rhop-3 from Plasmodium yoelii were isolated using rhoptry-specific antisera from Plasmodium falciparum, P. yoelii, and Plasmodium chabaudi. The cDNAs encoded peptides with partial homology to the C-terminal region (residues 541-861) of P. falciparum Rhop-3. Core regions of homology to the P. falciparum gene will be useful in determining the biological role of Rhop-3 and its potential as a vaccine candidate for malaria.

The nonbusiness world of municipalities, colleges and universities, hospitals, and other nonprofit organizations follows its own rules when it comes to financial statements, and these are often confusing to anyone who is accustomed to business accounting. According to this author, it was the concept of fund accounting that divided the two worlds of business and nonbusiness accounting and led to a situation where it is almost impossible to judge the financial performance of nonbusiness entities. He shows how financial statements of the business and nonbusiness worlds can use the same standards, with a few modifications for the unique features of nonbusiness organizations.

To understand the many changes, this paper explores early diagnostic systems, newer research studies, DSM-I, DSM-II, DSM-III, and DSM-III-R. A conclusion is reached that DSM-III and DSM-III-R offer both advantages and disadvantages to DSM-I and DSM-II. These are detailed in the paper.
