An inexpensive titration experiment for instrumental analysis chemistry courses using a MS-DOS microcomputer can demonstrate the principles of feedback and motion control as well as computer interfacing. The titration is controlled through rate of titrant addition accurately and allows the experiment to progress quickly. Hardware and software requirements are described in detail.

An evaluation of the optically transparent carbon film electrode using chronoabsorptometry under semiinfinite diffusion conditions is discussed. Cylindrical electrodes in the cross cell with o-tolidine, dianisidine and methyl viologen were used to carry out chronoabsorptometry. Cyclic voltammetric measurements were also conducted. Results indicate that the electrode performs in a normal manner under semiinfinite diffusion conditions.

A digital software-controlled back-off system for probe lamp dc signal nullification has been designed and incorporated into a laser flash photolysis spectrometer. This method takes advantage of modern high-speed operational amplifiers already employed in the detection circuitry and the dedicated small computer that runs the spectrometer.
