Alternative fuels such as biodiesel, bio-alcohol and other biomass sources have been extensively research to find its potential as an alternative sources to fossil fuels. This experiment compared the performance of diesel (D), biodiesel (BD) and diesel-organic germanium blend (BG5) at five different speeds ranging from 1200-2400 rpm. BG5 shows significant combustion performance compared to BD. No significant changes of power observed between BG5 and BD at a low speed (1200 rpm). On the contrary, at higher speeds (1800 rpm and 2400 rpm), BG5 blend fuel shows increased engine power of 12.2 % and 9.2 %, respectively. Similarly, torque shows similar findings as engine power, whereby the improvement could be seen at higher speeds (1800 rpm and 2400 rpm) when torque increased by 7.3 % and 2.3 %, respectively. In addition, the emission results indicated that for all speeds, CO2, and NO had reduced at an average of 2.1 % and 177 %, respectively. Meanwhile, CO emission had slightly increased compared to BD at low speeds by 0.04 %. However, the amount of CO released had decreased at an average of 0.03 % as the engine speed increased. Finally, measurement of O2 shows an increment at 16.4 % at all speed range.

With the increasing demand of power energy, the safe and stable operation of high parameter and large capacity turbo-generator sets is of great significance to power production. The vibration fault mechanism, signal detection, signal analysis, feature extraction and fault diagnosis methods of turbine generator set were summarized, respectively. Moreover, an advanced sensing technology and a new generation of intelligent machine learning technology represented by deep learning were introduced to solve the problems that traditional intelligent diagnosis methods are faced with, such as large amount of sampled data, difficulty in extracting signal features and shortage of fault training samples. It is summarized that the future vibration fault diagnosis technology of turbo generator sets should be based on artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing, supplemented by fusion virtualization and three-dimensional visualization technology, to achieve the unity of fault diagnosis speed and accuracy.

Abstract Background Dengue virus (DENV) is the causative agent of Dengue fever and the life-threatening Dengue Haemorrhagic fever or Dengue shock syndrome. In the absence of anti-viral agents or vaccine, there is an urgent need to develop an effective anti-viral strategy against this medically important viral pathogen. The initial interplay between DENV and the host cells may represent one of the potential anti-viral targeting sites. Currently the involvements of human membrane trafficking host genes or factors that mediate the infectious cellular entry of dengue virus are not well defined. Results In this study, we have used a targeted small interfering RNA (siRNA) library to identify and profile key cellular genes involved in processes of endocytosis, cytoskeletal dynamics and endosome trafficking that are important and essential for DENV infection. The infectious entry of DENV into Huh7 cells was shown to be potently inhibited by siRNAs targeting genes associated with clathrin-mediated endocytosis. The important role of clathrin-mediated endocytosis was confirmed by the expression of well-characterized dominant-negative mutants of genes in this pathway and by using the clathrin endocytosis inhibitor chlorpromazine. Furthermore, DENV infection was shown to be sensitive to the disruption of human genes in regulating the early to late endosomal trafficking as well as the endosomal acidic pH. The importance and involvement of both actin and microtubule dynamics in mediating the infectious entry of DENV was also revealed in this study. Conclusions Together, the findings from this study have provided a detail profiling of the human membrane trafficking cellular genes and the mechanistic insight into the interplay of these host genes with DENV to initiate an infection, hence broadening our understanding on the entry pathway of this medically important viral pathogen. These data may also provide a new potential avenue for development of anti-viral strategies and treatment of DENV infection.

Analysis of consumer preferences and willingness-to-pay (WTP) for sustainable foods produced using new agri-food technologies is required to enhance the uptake of innovations that accelerate the transition towards sustainable food systems. Consumers' willingness to buy new food products, with no or limited consumption experience, mainly depends on their food choice motivational orientations (promotion- vs prevention-orientation). The objective of this study was to elicit consumers' WTP for foods that are produced with microbial applications during the plant production phase with the aim to reduce the use of synthetic chemicals in crop farming, as well as to understand the associations of food choice motives, personal and socio-demographic factors with the WTP. We used contingent valuation to elicit consumers' WTP for three food products (wheat bread, consumer potatoes and tomato sauce) through online surveys. Data were collected from 291 consumers, primarily from Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. Descriptive statistics, latent variable modelling and logistic regression were used to analysis data. Results show that more than two-third of the respondents are willing to pay premiums of at least 0.11 euro per kg of food products for reductions in synthetic chemical use by at least 50% due to microbial applications. The amount of WTP increases with the level of reductions in synthetic chemical use. The majority of the respondents are promotion-oriented consumers in relation to their food involvement, and are more likely to pay premiums for the sustainably produced food products. Environmentally concerned consumers are also more likely to pay premiums, whereas health concerned consumers are not. This study contributes to understanding of consumers' attitude and perceived health risks towards foods obtained using microbial applications, and the heterogeneity of their preferences. Prestige Biopharma Ltd (Singapore) has developed HD201, a proposed biosimilar to reference product trastuzumab. As a part of the stepwise approach to ensure comparability between the biosimilar candidate and the reference medicinal product, a phase I study in healthy subjects was conducted to demonstrate the pharmacokinetic (PK) equivalence (NCT03776240). The primary objective of the study was to demonstrate (PK) equivalence of HD201, EU-Herceptin ® , and US-Herceptin ® given at 6 mg/kg as a 90-min i.v. infusion to healthy male subjects. A pairwise comparisons based on the primary endpoint AUC 0-inf and secondary PK endpoints, AUC 0-last and C max were undertaken. PK equivalence was to be concluded if the 90% confidence interval (CI) for the ratio of geometric means for each criterion were within the equivalence margin of 80% to 125%. Secondary objectives included assessment of other PK parameters, safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in the three arms. A total of 105 healthy male subjects (35/treatment) were randomized in this study. The 90% CI for the ratios of AUC 0-inf , C max and AUC 0-last , were within 80%-125% for the comparisons of HD201 to EU-Herceptin ® or US-Herceptin ® and EU-Herceptin ® to US-Herceptin ® . The frequency of subjects with TEAEs of special interest was slightly lower in the HD201 group (20.0%) compared to the other treatment groups (EU-Herceptin ® : 34.3%; US-Herceptin ® : 31.4%). Only 1 subject (EU-Herceptin ® group) developed anti-drug antibodies prior to dosing. Overall, HD201 demonstrates PK similarity to both EU-Herceptin ® and US-Herceptin ® . Background Older persons living alone have been associated with poorer health outcomes and higher mortality rate. However, little is known about the drug related problems (DRPs) faced by this population group in Singapore. Objectives This study aims to elucidate the prevalence and type of DRPs associated with older persons living alone. Setting Eleven Senior Activity Centers in Singapore. Method Individuals aged above 55 years, taking at least one oral chronic medication and living in the housing estate served by the Senior Activity Centers were recruited to participate in an individual interviewer-administered cross-sectional survey. Those who were unable to comprehend the survey or communicate their responses fully were excluded. DRPs were identified by the interviewers and reported using a modified DOCUMENT system. Main outcome measure The main outcome measure was the difference in prevalence and types of DRPs between survey participants with different living arrangements. Results Among 360 respondents, 152 (42.2%) were older persons living alone. A higher prevalence (61.2% vs. 47.6%, adjusted OR = 1.86 [1.12-3.10], p = 0.016) and mean number of DRPs (1.23 ± 1.4 vs. 0.95 ± 1.33, p = 0.018) were observed among older persons living alone in comparison with those who were not living alone. Specifically, those living alone were more likely to have DRP related to the category 'Taking too little' (adjusted OR = 2.32 [1.28-4.20], p = 0.006) and which involved the use of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (adjusted OR = 2.78 [1.16-6.69], p = 0.022). Conclusion Besides having a significantly higher prevalence of DRP, older persons living alone were more likely to be non-adherent to their medications, particularly statins. Targeted interventions to reduce these DRPs and ensure appropriate management of chronic conditions should be derived, especially for those who lack the ability to help themselves.

A long-term experiment was conducted on a black soil of Northeast China to study the effects of applying chemical fertilizers and recycled organic manure (ROM) on the changes of soil organic carbon and its fractions. The results showed that from 1985 to 2004, soil total organic carbon (TOC) decreased by 7.83% in control,4.56% in N application, 1.61% in N + P application, and 5.56% in ROM application, but increased by 0.33% in N + P + K application. Comparing with single application of ROM, its application with chemical fertilizers, i. e., N + ROM, N + P + ROM, and N + P + K + ROM, increased the TOC concentration by 0.35%, 1.05% and 0.64%, respectively. The readily oxidized carbon (ROC) in fertilization treatments was increased by 8.64% to approximately 28.4%, and the increment was higher in treatments of chemical fertilizers plus ROM than in treatments of chemical fertilizers. The ROC was significantly correlated with soil TOC (Y = 14.192X + 23.9, R2 = 0.802) and stalk yields (Y = 19032X - 7950.6, R2 = 0.759). Light fraction organic carbon (LF-C) had the same trends with ROC. After 20 years fertilization, the organic carbon in soil humic acid and fulvic acid was decreased by 1.64% to approximately 26.23% and 2.33% to approximately 28.68%, respectively, but in treatments of chemical fertilizers plus ROM, the decreasing trend was slowed down.
