BACKGROUND: The potential relationship between pulmonary tuberculosis and lung cancer has been the subject of intense interest over the past few decades. Nevertheless, the features of the pathogenesis of concomitant pathology remain poorly studied. AIM: The ain of the study to develop an experimental model of the concomitant pathology of tuberculosis and lung cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was performed on mice of the C57BL/6 line at the age of two months in four groups: 1st intact mice (n = 12), 2nd mice without a tumor infected with tuberculosis (n = 24), 3rd tumor-bearing mice not infected with tuberculosis (n = 23), 4th tumor-bearing mice infected with tuberculosis (n = 24). Individual and group parameters were evaluated using the SPSS Statistica v23 software package. RESULTS: Tumor was developed at the site of primary transplantation in all mice from groups 3 and 4, which was confirmed by visual assessment and the results of histological examination. Tumor growth in the main group was significantly less than in the control group of the tumor, which may be due to intoxication against the background of tuberculosis infection. All infected mice from groups 2 and 4 developed pulmonary tuberculosis, confirmed by computed tomography of the lungs, bacteriological and histological examination of lung samples. Mycobacterial load in the lungs was the highest in animals with concomitant pathology of tuberculosis and tumor. The survival rate of mice was determined to a large extent by tumor growth rather than by the progression of tuberculosis infection. CONCLUSIONS: The results of the study indicate the possibility of creating an experimental biological model of the concomitant pathology of tuberculosis and lung cancer in mice. The features of the course of the concomitant pathology were revealed: Lewis lung epidermoid carcinoma develops more slowly in tuberculosis infected animals than in the tumor control group; the development of the tuberculosis process in mice with a tumor occurs more intensively than in the tuberculosis infection control group. The survival rate of mice with concomitant pathology is determined more by the intensity of tumor growth than by the progression of tuberculosis.

The composition of the lipophilic components of the Adams rhododendron RhododendronadamsiiRehd. Acid and neutral components were identified using gas-liquid chromatography with mass spectrometric detection. Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), which has all the advantages of diethyl ether, but is devoid of its disadvantages, was used as the raw material extractant. It does not form peroxides and does not create increased gas contamination due to its higher boiling point. As a result, comparison with databases identified triterpene, phenolcarboxylic and aliphatic acids with a chain length of 8 to 30 carbon atoms, including saturated, unsaturated and dibasic acids. More than 150 triterpene and aliphatic components of the unsaponifiable residue and acid fractions have been identified. Previously, unsaponifiable residues of lipophilic extracts were practically not studied. Only components of Rh.adamsiiand other species of the genus rhododendron essential oils have been studied in detail. For bioactivity testing, samples of the whole extract and its fractionation products were prepared. Some of the studied samples show inhibitory activity against the main protease of SARS-CoV-2.

3,1,2,4-Benzothiaselenadiazines, 1,3,2,4-benzodithiadiazines and 1,2,4,3,5-benzotrithiadiazepines are synthesized from Ar–NSN–SiMe3 and chalcogen chlorides, and converted into Herz salts, radicals and molecular complexes, and S- and Se-Bunte salts.

Herein, we describe the synthesis of coordination compounds starting from carbohydrazide ((H2NHN)2C=O (CHZ)) and the Zn2+ salt of dinitramic acid (HDN), which are high-nitrogen substances that exhibit properties similar to those of a burning-rate inhibitor of pyrotechnic compositions. This study demonstrates that these compounds react with glyoxal to furnish adducts of metal–organic macrocyclic cages bearing the elements of carbohydrazide, complexing metals and the HDN anion, depending on the ratio of the starting reactants. The assembled macrocyclic cage has “host–guest” properties and is a safe container for the storage of HDN salts. X-ray crystallographic analysis of the resultant coordination compound, [Zn(chz)3(N(NO2)2)2]), indicated that the metal–ligand association occurs via the N and O atoms of carbohydrazide. The zinc salt of dinitramic acid, which is enclosed into adducts with a macrocycle, is thermally stable and insensitive to mechanical impacts. The complex zinc salt of dinitramide was shown herein to exhibit inhibitory activity towards the burning rate of pyrotechnic compositions.

Here, we report the study results of the nitration of 3,7,10-trioxo-2,4,6,8,9,11-hexaaza[3.3.3]propellane (THAP) by different nitrating agents such as nitric acid, mixed nitric/sulfuric acids, nitric anhydride, and mixed concentrated nitric acid/acetic anhydride to furnish 3,7,10-trioxo-2-nitro-2,4,6,8,9,11-hexaaza[3.3.3]propellane and 3,7,10-trioxo-2,8-dinitro-2,4,6,8,9,11-hexaaza[3.3.3]propellane, whereas a lactam–lactim rearrangement was found to take place upon vigorous cooling to give 10-hydroxy-2,4,6,8,9,11-hexaazatricyclo[3.3.3.01,5]undec-9-ene-3,7-dione. The two competing reactions, lactam–lactim rearrangement, and nitration were found to take place. The acylation of 3,7,10-trioxo-2,4,6,8,9,11-hexaaza[3.3.3]propellane was examined and the formation conditions of 2,6-di- and 2,6,9-triacetyl-substituted and 3,7,10-trioxo-2,4,6,8,9,11-hexaacetyl-2,4,6,8,9,11-hexaaza[3.3.3]propellane were established. The acetyl derivatives were found to be instable in an acidic medium and to undergo deacylation. The obtained findings correlate well with the quantum-chemical calculations.

The late-stage C H oxofunctionalization of (-)-ambroxide with H2O2 in the presence of bioinspired honheme Mn complexes is reported. Adjusting the ligand architecture and absolute chirality, as well as tuning the reaction solvent, allows switching the catalysts’ selectivity between biosynthetic-like and bioorthogonal modes, thus directing the reaction towards either (+)-sclareolide or 2α-hydroxyambroxide, respectively. This opens the ways to 2,12-dihydroxyambroxide, 2α-hydroxysclareolide, ambroxide-2-one, ambroxide-2,12-dione, and several other, including previously unavailable, oxidized metabolites of (-)-ambroxide in synthetically meaningful yields, using the same catalyst systems.

A new approach is suggested herein for the synthesis of pyrazole derivatives by reacting 4-nitrosemicarbazide with acetylacetone. Additional studies were done on the reaction of acetylacetone with semicarbazide and its derivatives (4-aminosemicarbazide, methylsemicarbazide, and dimethylsemicarbazide). The study on the reaction with acetylacetone resulted in monocyclic 3,5-dimethyl-N-nitropyrazole-1-carboxamide, monocyclic 5-hydroxy-3,5-dimethyl-2-pyrazoline, and bicyclic bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazole-1-carbonyl)hydrazine, and conditions for the formation of acetone semicarbazone were identified. The structures of the resultant compounds were validated by physicochemical analytical methods, including X-ray diffraction. The computer-aided screening in the PASS prediction software discovered a high biological activity of the newly obtained compounds.

Cadogan reductive cyclization of substituted 2-aryl-3-nitropyridines to give δ-carbolines was performed under MoO2Cl2(DMF)2 catalysis with triphenylphosphine as a ligand. A new approach for the synthesis of the alkaloid quindoline based on a Mo(VI)-catalyzed Cadogan reductive cyclization of 2-phenyl-3-nitro-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinoline followed by aromatization of the resulting 2,3,4,10-tetrahydro-1H-indolo[3,2-b]quinoline is proposed. Various о-nitroarylpyridines, obtained by reacting acylpyruvates and cyclic hydroxymethylene ketones with nitroacetophenone enamines, were used as starting compounds for the preparation of δ-carbolines. The synthesized δ-carbolines were found to act as phosphors; their photophysical properties were studied and a structure–property relationship was revealed.

Co-crystals of pharmaceutical compounds are widely used to improve the properties of drug formulations, such as dissolution behavior, bioavailability, or tabletability. The main methods of their synthesis include co-crystallization from solution, melt, or cogrinding. Only a few examples have been documented when co-crystals have been obtained by freeze-drying, namely, in systems where the components of a target co-crystal had similar aqueous solubilities. This work illustrates the potential of freeze-drying for obtaining pharmaceutical cocrystals when the solubilities of individual components differ drastically. Co-crystals of a model system—meloxicam and succinic acid—could be obtained both as a pure crystalline phase and forming a solid dispersion with a polymeric carrier. We show that even for pharmaceutical compounds with very low aqueous solubility, co-crystals with well-soluble coformers can be successfully produced under well-optimized conditions of cooling and subsequent freeze-drying. The ability of a number of nitrogen-containing compounds that simultaneously carry the adamantane and monoterpene moieties to inhibit Tdp1, an important enzyme of the DNA repair system, is studied. Inhibition of this enzyme has the potential to overcome chemotherapeutic resistance of some tumor types. Compound (+)-3c synthesized from 1-aminoadamantane and (+)-myrtenal, and compound 4a produced from 2-aminoadamantane and citronellal were found to be most potent as they inhibited Tdp1 with IC50 values of 6 and 3.5 µM, respectively. These compounds proved to have low cytotoxicity in colon HCT-116 and lung A-549 human tumor cell lines (CC50 > 50 µM). It was demonstrated that compound 4a at 10 µM enhanced cytotoxicity of topotecan, a topoisomerase 1 poison in clinical use, against HCT-116 more than fivefold and to a lesser extent of 1.5 increase in potency for A-549.

Immature organic-rich siliceous chalk (‘oil shale’) and organic-poor limestones of the Maastrichtian-Paleocene Muwaqqar Chalk Marl Formation (MCM) (central Jordan) deposited on the southern Neo-Tethys epicontinental shelf provide a perfect example of carbonate sedimentation in a bioproductive upwelling environment. The MCM sediments have been studied by XRD, SEM, EMPA, sequential extraction, ICP-MS, GC–MS, and FTIR to gain insights into causes of their unusual composition. The sediments are remarkable by exceptionally high enrichment in phosphorus and redox sensitive elements (RSE), mainly Cd (up to 225 ppm), Zn (1500 ppm), and Mo (up to 180 ppm), as well as in Ni, V, Cr, and U, with a total RSE budget reaching 3200 ppm, coupled with up to 23 wt% organic matter and 4.3 wt% sulphur. The bulk organic matter consists of type I/II kerogens sulphurised during sulphate reduction. Redox sensitive metals were brought to sediments mainly by biogenic shuttle, while the terrestrial input was minor, and hydrothermal fluids apparently did not contribute to total RSE. The metals can reside in sulphide (Zn-Cd-(Cu)) in sphalerite or/and wurtzite; Fe-Ni-V-Cu-(Mo) in pyrite, carbonate (Zn-Cd-(Mo-Ni-V)), and organic (Ni-V-Cu) phases. Authigenic Cd-rich sphalerite and wurtzite are much more abundant than pyrite in immature ‘oil shales’, for three main reasons: (i) S-bearing ligands coordinating Cd and Zn in primary organic matter; (ii) high sulphur in organic matter; and (iii) low concentrations of reactive iron in bottom sediments. Limestones redeposited under oxic environments lose all sulphides, but high Zn (up to 337 ppm) and Cd (up to 29 ppm) become redistributed into the newly formed carbonates. Thus, shelf carbonates of different ages deposited under anoxic/sulfidic conditions in zones of high bioproductivity, as well as their derivative limestones and dolomites, can be the primary Zn and Cd storage for Mississippi Valley-type deposits with high Zn/Pb and Cd/Zn ratios.

A multi-analytical investigation was carried out to study lacquer objects from Noin-Ula burial complex (Mongolia, the first century AD). This complex is a unique source of information about Xiongnu - one of the most ancient nomadic empires, due to the variety of findings of different origin. This study was undertaken to characterize the materials used for manufacturing and decoration of lacquer everyday life objects and works of art from the 22nd and 31st Noin-Ula barrows. Scanning electron microscopy coupled with X-ray microanalysis (SEM-EDS), FT-IR spectroscopy and pyrolysis coupled with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GS/MS) and derivatisation in situ with tetramethylammonium hydroxide were used to study both organic and inorganic components of ancient lacquer wares. The components of the drying oil and urushiol were identified in the lacquer coating compositions. Diterpenoid resin and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (charcoal components) were found in some samples. Inorganic pigments of the lacquer wares were umber, iron oxides, cinnabar, orpiment and charcoal.

Many-dimensional nature of real occurences and processes explains the actually increasing interest to the multivariate statistical analysis as a sophisticated toolset of the advanced researcher. Within the framework of the annual course «Multivariate statistical methods» such subsections as «Multivariate regression analysis», «Methods of the reduction of the variable space dimensionality», «Multivariate classification» are taught. All theoretical foundations are supported by praxis in computer class. The Mathcad based program «SEMESTR» provides the wide range of possibilities for performing laboratory works by course due to automation of the multivariate data processing. The article is devoted to the methodical principles of the study of multivariate relations between stock indexes.

Computer programs for analytical studies and forecasting of economic phenomena and processes are the everyday operating tool of a modern expert associated with the processing of statistical information. The program "SEMESTR" created on the base of Mathcad provides the wide range of possibilities for the comprehension of these algorithms due to automation of the multivariate data processing. Its usage in the educational process allows to develop stable skills in applying of mathematical and statistical methods of data analysis.

1 H and 13C NMR studies have shown that the long-lived 9,9-dimethyl-10-R-phenanthrenium cations (R = PhCC, Me, OH) generated in FSO3H–SbF5/SO2ClF/SO2/CD2Cl2 transform into long-lived 7-dihydroxysulfonio-9,9-dimethyl-10-R-phenanthrenium dications. The effect of the 10-R substituents on the reaction rate suggests that a key step in the reaction mechanism is addition of SO2 to protonated phenanthrenium cations.

N,N-phthaloyl-glycine is synthesized under microwave activation without solvent. Its nanoporous solvate is obtained by recrystallization. The solvate is studied by single crystal and powder XRD, thermogravimetry, and mass spectrometry. The crystals are composed of dimers that form a framework structure with infinite channels of about 4 A in diameter, containing a non-stoichiometric amount of chloroform (the mole fraction is close to 0.35). The nature of the incorporated solvate molecules is determined by high-resolution mass spectrometry, and their quantity is found by thermogravimetry.

Lead tetraacetate oxidation of pyrene followed by hydrolysis affords 1-hydroxypyrene whose esterification with 4-azidobenzoic acid gives a new bifunctional luminophore characterized by UV and luminescence spectroscopy.

Crystals of the title compound, nitrocarbamimidoyl azide, CH(2)N(6)O(2), consist of two symmetry-independent molecules and the structure is stabilized by intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The molecule possesses a nitrimine structure.
