Due to the intensified environmental protection consciousness of enterprises and consumers, the green winner determination (GWD) considering environmental performance becomes very important for the 4PL transportation service procurement. In this paper, a new GWD method is studied, which considers different types of attributes including those related to environmental performance and the consensus reaching process (CRP). To characterize multiple types of attributes, linguistic terms, interval numbers, and crisp numbers are combined. To achieve an acceptable consensus level among linguistic evaluations given by different experts, a minimum adjustment consensus model is constructed. And on this basis, an interactive CRP is proposed. Integrating the heterogeneous information addressing process and the CRP, a HC-VIKOR method is developed to promote the 4PL's operational efficiency and service quality. Further, a numerical example is designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Sensitivity analysis reveals that both the acceptable consensus threshold and the weight of group utility have a significant influence on the winner determination result. Comparison analysis shows that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods. Our study not only extends the traditional winner determination but also provides decision support for the 4PL to provide transportation services efficiently.

However, the sentences posted online are generally short, which sometimes contains both positive and negative word in the same post. Thus, it may not be sufficient to determine the sentiment polarity of a post by merely counting the number of sentiment words, summing up or averaging the associated scores of sentiment words. In this paper, an unsupervised learning technique, k-means, in conjunction with sentiment analysis, is proposed for assessing public opinions. The proposed approach offers the product designers a tool to promptly determine the critical design criteria for new product planning in the process of new product development by evaluating the user-generated content. The case implementation proves the applicability of the proposed approach.

Purpose System dynamics is a whole-system modelling and learning approach, useful for tackling non-linear problems, such as sustainable urban development. The purpose of this paper is to review system dynamics applications in the simulation of sustainable urban development over a period from 2005 to 2017. Design/methodology/approach The analysis reveals that the number of applications of system dynamics modelling in the area of urban sustainable development increased in the analysed period. Research has changed its focus from the modelling of environmental problems to more complex models, portraying the multidimensional socio-economic processes that have an impact on the sustainability of urban development. Analysed case studies most often use the behaviour reproduction test for model validation, but without a unified approach. In most cases, modelling has been done in China, Germany and the USA, while urban development in the Eastern European countries, Africa and Latin America has not often been investigated. This paper indicates the knowledge gaps and suggests future research directions. Findings Papers that report the use of system dynamics modelling reveal a wide range of applications in urban sustainability. The analysis shows significant emphasis on environmental problems, while the interest for modelling social problems has been increasing during the last several years. Most of the modelled problems examine the sustainability of resources (land, water) and waste management, which are used for insights into the reasons for the system behaviour, forecasting future behaviour and policy testing. Originality/value The presented models were developed in most cases for the purpose of understanding the phenomena examined, as well as the future use of the models in policy planning. This brings us back to the need for greater stakeholder involvement, not only in the initial phase, but also during the whole modelling process, which could increase understanding, use and ownership of the models in the future, and thus increase their practical application.

The rapid development of intelligent manufacturing provides strong support for the intelligent medical service ecosystem. Researchers are committed to building Wise Information Technology of 120 (WIT 120) for residents and medical personnel with the concept of simple smart medical care and through core technologies such as Internet of Things, Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and microservice framework, to improve patient safety, medical quality, clinical efficiency, and operational benefits. Among them, how to use computers and deep learning technology to assist in the diagnosis of tongue images and realize intelligent tongue diagnosis has become a major trend. Tongue crack is an important feature of tongue states. Not only does change of tongue crack states reflect objectively and accurately changed circumstances of some typical diseases and TCM syndrome but also semantic segmentation of fissured tongue can combine the other features of tongue states to further improve tongue diagnosis systems’ identification accuracy. Although computer tongue diagnosis technology has made great progress, there are few studies on the fissured tongue, and most of them focus on the analysis of tongue coating and body. In this paper, we do systematic and in-depth researches and propose an improved U-Net network for image semantic segmentation of fissured tongue. By introducing the Global Convolution Network module into the encoder part of U-Net, it solves the problem that the encoder part is relatively simple and cannot extract relatively abstract high-level semantic features. Finally, the method is verified by experiments. The improved U-Net network has a better segmentation effect and higher segmentation accuracy for fissured tongue image dataset. It can be used to design a computer-aided tongue diagnosis system.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to propose a three-tier assessment model (TAM), aiming to identify and evaluate the competitiveness level of companies. The existing problem is that companies find it difficult to choose a proper model which can be deployed to benchmark with competitors in terms of their competiveness level in the marketplace. Most of the available models are not appropriate or easy to use. The proposed assessment model is able to provide an insight for better planning and preparation so as to gain a better chance of success comparing with their competitors. Most importantly, the proposal model adopts a pragmatic approach and can be implemented without going through tedious mathematical calculations and analysis.Design/methodology/approachTAM embraces three different approaches deployed in various stages of the application process. The first stage is to identify the relevant criteria using hierarchical holographic modeling and the second stage is to assess the associated weightings of these criteria used to rate the potential competitiveness of related companies. The technique used in stage two is known as fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) which is a combination of two well-established methods including fuzzy logic and analytical hierarchical programming. In stage three, a technique known as technique for order preference by similarity to the ideal solution (TOPSIS) is adopted to benchmark the level of competitiveness covering several companies in the same industry.FindingsIn this paper, a case study is conducted in order to validate the feasibility and practicality of the proposed model. Results indicate that TAM can be easily applied in various industrial settings by practitioners in the field for supporting operations management practices.Research limitations/implicationsSignificant amount of work is needed to ensure that the proposed model can be practically deployed in real industrial settings.Practical implicationsThis proposed model is able to capitalize on the benefits of the HMM, FAHP and TOPSIS methods and offset their deficiencies. Most importantly, it can be applied to various industries without complex modification.Originality/valueThis paper suggests a hybrid model to assess competitiveness level embracing three different techniques with the unique feature which is able to provide an insight for better planning and preparation in order to excel competitors. Companies may be able to follow the procedures and steps suggested in the paper to implement the model which is proven to be pragmatic and can be applied in real situations.
