The Concept of the Three Orders of Society in Late Old English Prose. Between the years 991 and 1012, the English suffered one of the worst Viking onslaughts in history. The relentless invasions coupled with an ineffective administration which was crumbling from within almost brought England to its knees. There was dire need for reformation. The first step in this process was a clear assessment of the situation. To this end, Archbishop Wulfstan of York and Abbot Ælfric of Eynsham rediscover and use the concept of the tripartite society to show the desperate need for all three social orders of England (laboratores, oratores, bellatores) to unite in support of the office of kingship, lest everything be lost. The present paper aims to present the evolution of the concept of a tripartite society in Anglo-Saxon England from its (pseudo)Alfredian origins to its integration into the political tracts, law codes, sermons and homilies of late Anglo-Saxon England.

Cultural heritage conservation demands interdisciplinary and complex documentation and analysis while facing increasing pressure to adopt sustainable and productive practices. This paper bridges these gaps by proposing a methodology and a set of requirements for Building Information Modeling (BIM) models aligned with European directives for sustainability and productivity in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector. Leveraging 3D scanning and intelligent models, we establish information needs specific to conservation, encompassing material properties, historical data, and decay analysis. Interoperability, compatibility with advanced analytical tools, and open-source formats are emphasized for seamless data integration and accessibility. We further introduce two use cases for BIM-enabled heritage conservation, illustrating the application of our proposed methodology in real-world scenarios. These cases exemplify how BIM models cater to the specific needs of cultural heritage sites, from their initial condition assessment to ongoing preservation efforts. Through these examples, we demonstrate the adaptability of BIM technology in capturing and managing the complex information associated with heritage conservation, including structural details, material characteristics, and historical significance. Our work highlights the potential of BIM to revolutionize heritage conservation practices, offering a digital backbone for documentation, analysis, and management that aligns with sustainability and productivity goals.

The rehabilitation of heritage steel bridges raises specific challenges due to their historical significance and structural complexity. These structures, often subjected to ageing, corrosion, and insufficient documentation, require specialized approaches that balance preservation with modern infrastructure demands. In this context, digitalization offers a transformative pathway, enabling more precise maintenance planning, enhanced decision-making, and better alignment with sustainability goals, with Building Information Modelling (BIM) fostering seamless information transfer and integration across project lifecycle. This paper highlights the potential of BIM in predictive maintenance, resource optimization, and strategic rehabilitation planning. It proposes a structured approach for defining and implementing information requirements (IRs), ensuring alignment between organizational objectives, asset-level needs, and project-specific deliverables. A significant contribution of this research is the development of a template for information delivery specification (IDS), providing a robust framework for data exchange and quality control throughout project phases. The IDS supports the integration of technical and historical data into a centralized digital repository, addressing both operational and heritage preservation needs. Finally, the article discusses structural assessment and strengthening strategies within the BIM workflow, emphasizing their role in achieving efficient and sustainable bridge rehabilitation.

Despite the considerable amount of scholarship dedicated to the most important Old English poem, Francis Leneghan manages to make a major contribution to Beowulf exegesis. This book discusses at large the three royal dynasties in the poem (the Scyldings, the Scylfings, and the Hrethlings), and the role their struggles play in the larger landscape of Scandinavian royal legends. The introduction contextualises the manuscript, and offers information on the text’s origin, while also providing a brief overview of earlier critical reception. It then moves on to a succinct discussion of the major themes of the poem, including kingship and dynasties. The reader is given extensive guidance through ample annotations and footnotes. Chapter One distinguishes between three stages in the life cycle of a dynasty: founding, maturity and the inevitable fall. Thus, the poem begins with the story of Scyld Scefing, the destitute child who became the founder of a dynasty. The youthful phase of the dynasty is in place, and Scyld’s offspring thrive after his death. Beowulf therefore becomes a poem about the life cycle of dynasties, and how and why they differ. In this paper, we discuss the evolutionary implications of the correlation between different species of Peucedanum plants and the distribution of Gortyna borelii moth populations in Romania. We highlight geographic separation and isolation among these populations due to anthropogenic landscape fragmentation, which hinders genetic exchange. A geometric morphometric analysis was utilized to visualize and compare the morphometric variations in relation to the environmental variables, particularly the host plant. Additionally, the distribution of G. borelii populations across Europe and in Romania that are correlated with the host plant was analyzed. The significant morphological and morphometric differences between the analyzed populations support our working hypothesis, according to which the use of different Peucedanum species by the larvae of G. borelii leads to an intraspecific diversification correlated with the host plant species. The newly discovered population of G. borelii in Romania holds substantial conservation importance, necessitating protection measures, including demarcating habitat areas and raising awareness among stakeholders. G. borelii is a protected species at the European level (Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC, Appendices II and IV), considered endangered due to the isolation of its populations and anthropogenic pressures exerted through agricultural practices. Understanding the impact of agricultural practices on their habitat is crucial for effective management strategies. Overall, this study sheds light on the complex interplay between ecological adaptation, host plant specialization, and speciation dynamics in phytophagous insects, emphasizing the importance of conservation efforts to preserve G. borelii populations and their habitats.

Philology. Linguistics ,P1-1091 - Abstract
Perhaps the best documented fact about Archbishop Wulfstan of York is that he is not sufficiently documented at all. Second perhaps only to Ælfric of Eynsham in his theological endeavours, Wulfstan (d. 1023) was also the foremost statesman of his age, as advisor to kings Æthelred (978 – 1013) and Cnut (1016–1035). Moreover, during his lifetime, he served in three of England’s most influential ecclesiastical offices: the bishoprics of London and Worcester, and the archbishopric of York, holding the latter two in plurality until 1016. Little is known about his life before he was created bishop of London, though we may safely assume that he had deep ties with the Benedictine reform and was a monk or even an abbot before his ascension to the episcopate.
