We present ALMA 3 mm molecular line and continuum observations with a resolution of ~3.5" towards five first hydrostatic core (FHSC) candidates (L1451-mm, Per-bolo 58, Per-bolo 45, L1448-IRS2E and Cha-MMS1). Our goal is to characterize their envelopes and identify the most promising sources that could be bona fide FHSCs. We identify two candidates which are consistent with an extremely young evolutionary state (L1451-mm and Cha-MMS1), with L1451-mm being the most promising FHSC candidate. Although our envelope observations cannot rule out Cha-MMS1 as a FHSC yet, the properties of its CO outflow and SED published in recent studies are in better agreement with the predictions for a young protostar. For the remaining three sources, our observations favor a prestellar nature for Per-bolo 45 and rule out the rest as FHSC candidates. Per-bolo 58 is fully consistent with being a Class 0, while L1448 IRS2E shows no emission of high-density tracers (NH2D and N2H+) at the location of the previously identified compact continuum source, which is also undetected in our observations. Thus we argue that there is no embedded source at the presumptive location of the FHSC candidate L1448 IRS2E. We propose instead, that what was thought to be emission from the presumed L1448 IRS2E outflow corresponds to outflow emission from a nearby Class 0 system, deflected by the dense ambient material. We compare the properties of the FHSC candidates studied in this work and the literature, which shows that L1451-mm appears as possibly the youngest source with a confirmed outflow., 26 pages, 14 figures. Immune cells play a major role in the development and progression of hypertension. Previous studies have shown that antigen presenting cells (APCs), such as macrophages (Mø) and dendritic cells (DCs) are particularly abundant in kidney. However, the relevance of these renal APCs on hypertension and whether their distribution change during the anti-hypertensive treatment remain unknow. We evaluated whether losartan (Los) treatment changes the abundance of APCs in the renal cortex and medulla in Angiotensin (Ang) II-infused mice.Male C57BL/6 mice (8-12wo) were treated with AngII (490ng/Kg/min), AngII+Los (20mg/Kg/day) or Vehicle for 14 days (n=4-6). A full understanding of high-mass star formation requires the study of one of the most elusive components of the energy balance in the interstellar medium: magnetic fields. We report Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) 1.2 mm, high-resolution (700 au) dust polarization and molecular line observations of the rotating hot molecular core embedded in the high-mass star-forming region IRAS 18089-1732. The dust continuum emission and magnetic field morphology present spiral-like features resembling a whirlpool. The velocity field traced by the H13CO+ (J = 3-2) transition line reveals a complex structure with spiral filaments that are likely infalling and rotating, dragging the field with them. We have modeled the magnetic field and find that the best model corresponds to a weakly magnetized core with a mass-to-magnetic-flux ratio (λ) of 8.38. The modeled magnetic field is dominated by a poloidal component, but with an important contribution from the toroidal component that has a magnitude of 30% of the poloidal component. Using the Davis-Chandrasekhar-Fermi method, we estimate a magnetic field strength of 3.5 mG. At the spatial scales accessible to ALMA, an analysis of the energy balance of the system indicates that gravity overwhelms turbulence, rotation, and the magnetic field. We present new MUSE/VLT observations of a small globule in the Carina H II region that hosts the HH 900 jet+outflow system. Data were obtained with the GALACSI ground-layer adaptive optics system in wide-field mode, providing spatially-resolved maps of diagnostic emission lines. These allow us to measure the variation of the physical properties in the globule and jet+outflow system. We find high temperatures ($T_e \approx 10^4$ K), modest extinction ($A_V \approx 2.5$ mag), and modest electron densities ($n_e \approx 200$ cm$^{-3}$) in the ionized gas. Higher excitation lines trace the ionized outflow; both the excitation and ionization in the outflow increase with distance from the opaque globule. In contrast, lower excitation lines that are collisionally de-excited at densities $\gtrsim 10^4$ cm$^{-3}$ trace the highly collimated protostellar jet. Assuming the globule is an isothermal sphere confined by the pressure of the ionization front, we compute a Bonnor-Ebert mass of $\sim 3.7$ M$_{\odot}$. This is two orders of magnitude higher than previous mass estimates, calling into question whether small globules like the Tadpole contribute to the bottom of the IMF. Derived globule properties are consistent with a cloud that has been and/or will be compressed by the ionization front on its surface. At the estimated globule photoevaporation rate of $\sim 5 \times 10^{-7}$ M$_{\odot}$ yr$^{-1}$, the globule will be completely ablated in $\sim 7$ Myr. Stars that form in globules like the Tadpole will emerge into the H II later and may help resolve some of the temporal tension between disk survival and enrichment., Comment: MNRAS, accepted

We observed the high-mass star-forming region G335.579-0.292 with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) at 226 GHz with an angular resolution of 0.3'' ($\sim 1000$ au resolution at the source distance). G335.579-0.292 hosts one of the most massive cores in the Galaxy (G335-MM1). The continuum emission shows that G335-MM1 fragments into at least five sources, while molecular line emission is detected in two of the continuum sources (ALMA1 and ALMA3). We found evidence of large and small scale infall in ALMA1 revealed by an inverse P-Cygni profile and the presence of a blue-shifted spot at the center of the first moment map of the CH$_3$CN emission. In addition, hot gas expansion in the innermost region is unveiled by a red-shifted spot in the first moment map of HDCO and (CH$_3$)$_2$CO (both with $E_u > 1100$ K). Our modeling reveals that this expansion motion originates close to the central source, likely due to reversal of the accretion flow induced by the expansion of the HII region, while infall and rotation motions originate in the outer regions. ALMA3 shows clear signs of rotation, with a rotation axis inclination with respect to the line of sight close to $90^\circ$, and a system mass (disk + star) in the range of 10-30 M$_\odot$., 15 pages, 12 figures, 3 tables. We present a spatio-kinematical analysis of the CO~($J$=2$\rightarrow$1) line emission, observed with the Atacama Large Millimter/submillimter Array (ALMA), of the outflow associated with the most massive core, ALMA1, in the 70 $\mu$m dark clump G010.991$-$00.082. The position-velocity (P-V) diagram of the molecular outflow exhibits a peculiar $\mathsf{S}$-shaped morphology that has not been seen in any other star forming region. We propose a spatio-kinematical model for the bipolar molecular outflow that consists of a decelerating high-velocity component surrounded by a slower component whose velocity increases with distance from the central source. The physical interpretation of the model is in terms of a jet that decelerates as it entrains material from the ambient medium, which has been predicted by calculations and numerical simulations of molecular outflows in the past. One side of the outflow is shorter and shows a stronger deceleration, suggesting that the medium through which the jet moves is significantly inhomogeneous. The age of the outflow is estimated to be $\tau$$\approx$1300 years, after correction for a mean inclination of the system of $\approx$57$^{\circ}$., Comment: 15 pages, 7 figures. With a mass of $\sim$1000 $M_\odot$ and a surface density of $\sim$0.5 g cm$^{-2}$, G023.477+0.114 also known as IRDC 18310-4 is an infrared dark cloud (IRDC) that has the potential to form high-mass stars and has been recognized as a promising prestellar clump candidate. To characterize the early stages of high-mass star formation, we have observed G023.477+0.114 as part of the ALMA Survey of 70 $\mu$m Dark High-mass Clumps in Early Stages (ASHES). We have conducted $\sim$1."2 resolution observations with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) at 1.3 mm in dust continuum and molecular line emission. We identified 11 cores, whose masses range from 1.1 $M_\odot$ to 19.0 $M_\odot$. Ignoring magnetic fields, the virial parameters of the cores are below unity, implying that the cores are gravitationally bound. However, when magnetic fields are included, the prestellar cores are close to virial equilibrium, while the protostellar cores remain sub-virialized. Star formation activity has already started in this clump. Four collimated outflows are detected in CO and SiO. H$_2$CO and CH$_3$OH emission coincide with the high-velocity components seen in the CO and SiO emission. The outflows are randomly oriented for the natal filament and the magnetic field. The position-velocity diagrams suggest that episodic mass ejection has already begun even in this very early phase of protostellar formation. The masses of the identified cores are comparable to the expected maximum stellar mass that this IRDC could form (8-19 $M_\odot$). We present a study of outflows at extremely early stages of high-mass star formation obtained from the ALMA Survey of 70 $\mu \rm m$ dark High-mass clumps in Early Stages (ASHES). Twelve massive 3.6$-$70 $\mu \rm m$ dark prestellar clump candidates were observed with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) in Band 6. Forty-three outflows are identified toward 41 out of 301 dense cores using the CO and SiO emission lines, yielding a detection rate of 14%. We discover 6 episodic molecular outflows associated with low- to high-mass cores, indicating that episodic outflows (and therefore episodic accretion) begin at extremely early stages of protostellar evolution for a range of core masses. The time span between consecutive ejection events is much smaller than those found in more evolved stages, which indicates that the ejection episodicity timescale is likely not constant over time. The estimated outflow dynamical timescale appears to increase with core masses, which likely indicates that more massive cores have longer accretion timescales than less massive cores. The lower accretion rates in these 70 $\mu \rm m$ dark objects compared to the more evolved protostars indicate that the accretion rates increase with time. The total outflow energy rate is smaller than the turbulent energy dissipation rate, which suggests that outflow induced turbulence cannot sustain the internal clump turbulence at the current epoch. We often detect thermal SiO emission within these 70 $\mu \rm m$ dark clumps that is unrelated to CO outflows. The current generation of (sub)mm-telescopes has allowed molecular line emission to become a major tool for studying the physical, kinematic, and chemical properties of extragalactic systems, yet exploiting these observations requires a detailed understanding of where emission lines originate within the Milky Way. In this paper, we present 60$^{\prime\prime}$ ($\sim$3pc) resolution observations of many 3mm-band molecular lines across a large map of the W49 massive star-forming region ($\sim$100$\times$100pc at 11kpc), which were taken as part of the "LEGO" IRAM-30m large project. We find that the spatial extent or brightness of the molecular line transitions are not well correlated with their critical densities, highlighting abundance and optical depth must be considered when estimating line emission characteristics. We explore how the total emission and emission efficiency (i.e. line brightness per H$_{2}$ column density) of the line emission vary as a function of molecular hydrogen column density and dust temperature. We find that there is not a single region of this parameter space responsible for the brightest and most efficiently emitting gas for all species. For example, we find that the HCN transition shows high emission efficiency at high column density ($10^{22}$cm$^{-2}$) and moderate temperatures (35K), whilst e.g. N$_2$H$^+$ emits most efficiently towards lower temperatures ($10^{22}$cm$^{-2}$, Comment: 33+2 pages, 17+3 figures, 4+4 tables. We combine MUSE and ALMA observations with theoretical models to evaluate how a tadpole-shaped globule located in the Carina Nebula has been influenced by its environment. This globule is now relatively small (radius ~2500 au), hosts a protostellar jet+outflow (HH 900) and, with a blue-shifted velocity of ~10 km/s, is travelling faster than it should be if its kinematics were set by the turbulent velocity dispersion of the precursor cloud. Its outer layers are currently still subject to heating, but comparing the internal and external pressures implies that the globule is in a post-collapse phase. Intriguingly the outflow is bent, implying that the YSO responsible for launching it is comoving with the globule, which requires that the star formed after the globule was up to speed since otherwise it would have been left behind. We conclude that the most likely scenario is one in which the cloud was much larger before being subject to radiatively-driven implosion, which accelerated the globule to the high observed speeds under the photoevaporative rocket effect and triggered the formation of the star responsible for the outflow. The globule may now be in a quasi-steady state following collapse. Finally, the HH 900 YSO is likely $\gtrsim$1 M$_{\odot}$ and may be the only star forming in the globule. It may be that this process of triggered star formation has prevented the globule from fragmenting to form multiple stars (e.g., due to heating) and has produced a single higher mass star., MNRAS, accepted

We have analyzed the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) cycle 2 data of band 6 toward the G345.4938+01.4677 massive young protostellar object (G345.5+1.47 MYSO) in the IRAS 16562--3959 high-mass star-forming region with an angular resolution of $\sim 0.3"$, corresponding to $\sim 760$ au. We spatially resolve the central region which consists of three prominent molecular emission cores. A hypercompact (HC) H$_{\rm {II}}$ region (Core A) and two molecule-rich cores (Core B and Core C) are identified using the moment zero images of the H30$\alpha$ line and a CH$_{3}$OH line, respectively. Various oxygen-bearing complex organic molecules (COMs), such as (CH$_{3}$)$_{2}$CO and CH$_{3}$OCHO, have been detected toward the positions of Core B and Core C, while nitrogen-bearing species, CH$_{3}$CN, HC$_{3}$N and its $^{13}$C isotopologues, have been detected toward all of the cores. We discuss the formation mechanisms of H$_{2}$CO by comparing the spatial distribution of C$^{18}$O with that of H$_{2}$CO. The $^{33}$SO emission, on the other hand, shows a ring-like structure surrounding Core A, and it peaks on the outer edge of the H30$\alpha$ emission region. We present ALMA high spatial resolution observations towards two star forming regions located in one of the most extreme zones of star formation in the Galaxy, the Carina Nebula. One region is located at the center of the nebula and is severally affected by the stellar feedback from high-mass stars, while the other region is located further south and is less disturbed by the massive star clusters. We found that the region at the center of the nebula is forming less but more massive cores than the region located in the south, suggesting that the level of stellar feedback effectively influence the fragmentation process in clumps. Lines such as HCN, HCO$^{+}$ and SiO show abundant and complex gas distributions in both regions, confirming the presence of ionization and shock fronts. Jeans analysis suggests that the observed core masses in the region less affected by the massive stars are consistent with thermal fragmentation, but turbulent Jeans fragmentation might explain the high masses of the cores identified in the region in the center of Carina. Consistently, two different analyses in the HCO$^{+}$ line provided evidence for a higher level of turbulence in the gas more affected by the stellar feedback. The gas column density probability functions, N-PDFs, show log-normal shapes with clear transitions to power law regimes. We observed a wider N-PDF in the region at the center of the nebula, which provides further evidence for a higher level of turbulence in the material with a higher level of massive stellar feedback., Accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal the 20th of January 2020

We present new Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) Band 6 observations including the CO(2-1) line and 1.3 mm continuum emission from the surroundings of the young stellar object DO Tauri. The ALMA CO molecular data show three different series of rings at different radial velocities. These rings have radii around 220 and 800 au. We make individual fits to the rings and note that their centers are aligned with DO Tauri and its optical high-velocity jet. In addition, we notice that the velocity of these structures increases with the separation from the young star. We discuss the data under the hypothesis that the rings represent velocity cuts through three outflowing shells that are possibly driven by a wide-angle wind, dragging the environment material along a direction close to the line of sight (i = 19°). We estimate the dynamical ages, the mass, the momentum, and the energy of each individual outflow shell and those of the whole outflow. The results are in agreement with those found in outflows from Class II sources. We make a rough estimate for the size of the jet/wind launching region, which needs to be of ≲15 au. We report the physical characteristics of DO Tauri's disk continuum emission (almost face-on and with a projected major axis in the north-south direction) and its velocity gradient orientation (north-south), indicative of disk rotation for a 1-2 M central star. Two families of models compete to explain the formation of high-mass stars. The quasi-static models predict the existence of high-mass pre-stellar cores sustained by a high degree of turbulence while competitive accretion models predict that high-mass proto-stellar cores evolve from low/intermediate mass proto-stellar cores in dynamic environments. We present ALMA (1.4 mm continuum emission and $^{12}$CO emission line) and MOPRA (HCO$^{+}$, H$^{13}$CO$^{+}$ and N$_2$H$^+$ molecular line emissions) observations of a sample of 9 starless massive dense cores (MDCs) discovered in a recent Herschel/HOBYS study that have masses and sizes ($\sim$110 M$_\odot$ and $r\sim$0.1 pc, respectively) similar to the initial conditions used in the quasi-static models. The MOPRA molecular line features show that 3 of the starless MDCs are subvirialized with $\alpha_{\rm vir}\sim$0.35, and 4 MDCs show sign of collapse. Our ALMA observations, on the other hand, show very little fragmentation within the MDCs whereas the observations resolve the Jeans length ($\lambda_{\rm Jeans}\sim$0.03 pc) and are sensitive to the Jeans mass (M$_{\rm Jeans}\sim$0.65 M$_\odot$) in the 9 starless MDCs. During the last decades, a great interest has emerged to know if even the most massive stars in our galaxy (namely the spectral O-type stars) are formed in a similar manner as the low- and intermediate-mass stars, that is, through the presence of accreting disks and powerful outflows. Here, using sensitive observations of the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA), we report a resolved Keplerian disk (with fifteen synthesized beams across its major axis) surrounding the deeply embedded O-type protostar IRAS16547$-$4247. The disk shows some asymmetries that could arise because of the disk is unstable and fragmenting or maybe because of different excitation conditions within the disk. The enclosed mass estimated from the disk Keplerian radial velocities is 25$\pm$3 M$_\odot$. The molecular disk is at the base of an ionized thermal radio jet and is approximately perpendicular to the jet axis orientation. We additionally find the existence of a binary system of compact dusty objects at the center of the accreting disk, which indicates the possible formation of an O-type star and a companion of lower mass. This is not surprising due to the high binary fraction reported in massive stars. Subtracting the contribution of the dusty disk plus the envelope and the companion, we estimated a mass of 20 M$_\odot$ for the central star., Comment: Accepted by The Astrophysical Journal

We report 1.2 mm polarized continuum emission observations carried out with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) toward the high-mass star formation region G5.89-0.39. The observations show a prominent 0.2 pc north-south filamentary structure. The UCHII in G5.89-0.39 breaks the filament in two pieces. Its millimeter emission shows a dusty belt with a mass of 55-115 M$_{\odot}$ and 4,500 au in radius, surrounding an inner part comprising mostly ionized gas with a dust emission only accounting about 30% of the total millimeter emission. We also found a lattice of convex arches which may be produced by dragged dust and gas from the explosive dispersal event involving the O5 Feldt's star. The north-south filament has a mass between 300-600 M$_{\odot}$ and harbours a cluster of about 20 millimeter envelopes with a median size and mass of 1700 au and 1.5 M$_{\odot}$, respectively, some of which are already forming protostars. We interpret the polarized emission in the filament as mainly coming from magnetically aligned dust grains. The polarization fraction is ~4.4% in the filaments and 2.1% at the shell. The magnetic fields are along the North Filament and perpendicular to the South Filament. In the Central Shell, the magnetic fields are roughly radial in a ring surrounding the dusty belt between 4,500 and 7,500 au, similar to the pattern recently found in the surroundings of Orion BN/KL. We report Atacama Large Millimeter Array observations of 3 mm dust continuum emission and line emission, in HCO$^{+}$, H$^{13}$CO$^{+}$, N$_{2}$H$^{+}$ and CH$_{3}$CN, towards two massive and dense clumps (MDCs) in early but distinct evolutionary phases (prestellar and protostellar), made with the goal of investigating their fragmentation characteristics at angular scales of $\sim$1 $\arcsec$. Towards the prestellar clump we detected ten compact structures (cores), with radius from 1200 to 4500 AU and masses from 1.6 to 20~M$_\odot$. Half of these cores exhibit inverse P Cygni profiles in HCO$^{+}$ and are subvirialized indicating that they are undergoing collapse. Towards the protostellar clump we detected a massive (119~M$_\odot$) central core, with a strong mass infall rate, and nine less massive cores, with masses from 1.7 to 27~M$_\odot$ and radius from 1000 to 4300 AU. CH$_{3}$CN rotational temperatures were derived for 8 cores in the protostellar clump and 3 cores in the prestellar clump. Cores within the prestellar clump have smaller linewidths and lower temperatures than cores within the protostellar clump. The fraction of total mass in cores to clump mass is smaller in the prestellar clump ($\sim$6\%) than in the protostellar clump ($\sim$23\%). We conclude that we are witnessing the evolution of the dense gas in globally collapsing MDCs; the prestellar clump illustrating the initial stage of fragmentation, harboring cores that are individually collapsing, and the protostellar clump reflecting a later stage in which a considerable fraction of the gas has been gravitationally focused into the central region., Comment: 26 figures, 11 tables, accepted for publication in ApJ (Jan 4, 2020)

Exactly how high-mass star clusters form, especially the young massive clusters (YMCs: age $10^4$ solar masses), remains an open problem, largely because they are so rare that examples of their cold, dense, molecuar progenitors remain elusive. The molecular cloud G337.342$-$0.119, the `Pebble,' is a candidate for such a cold progenitor. Although G337.342$-$0.119 was originally identified as four separate ATLASGAL clumps, the similarity in their molecular line velocities and linewidths in the MALT90 dataset demonstrate that these four clumps are in fact one single, coherent cloud. This cloud is unique in the MALT90 survey for its combination of both cold temperatures ($T_{dust} \sim 14$ K) and large linewidths $(��V \sim 10$ km s$^{-1}$). The near/far kinematic distance ambiguity is difficult to resolve for G337.342$-$0.119. At the near kinematic distance (4.7 kpc), the mass is 5,000 solar masses and the size is $7\times2$ pc. At the far kinematic distance (11 kpc), the mass is 27,000 solar masses and the size is $15 \times 4$ pc. The unusually large linewidths of G337.342$-$0.119 are difficult to reconcile with a gravitationally bound system in equilibrium. If our current understanding of the Galaxy's Long Bar is approximately correct, G337.342$-$0.119 cannot be located at its end. Rather, it is associated with a large star-forming complex that contains multiple clumps with large linewidths. If G337.342$-$0.119 is a prototypical cold progenitor for a high-mass cluster, its properties may indicate that the onset of high-mass star cluster formation is dominated by extreme turbulence., 19 pages, 9 figures

The Central Molecular Zone (CMZ; inner ∼100pc) hosts some of the most dense and massive molecular clouds of the Milky Way. Studying these clouds can potentially lead to a better understanding of the dense clouds seen in the central starburst regions in nearby galaxies or in the early universe. The clouds share an unusual feature: they form stars at an unusually slow rate compared to other Milky Way clouds of similar mass and density. Here we use interferometer data from ALMA and the SMA to show that this reduced star formation rate is a consequence of the cloud density structure: CMZ clouds have unusually flat density slopes. The clouds do, for example, exceed the average density of the Orion A molecular cloud by an order of magnitude on spatial scales ∼5 pc, but the cores of CMZ clouds with ∼0.1 pc radius often have masses and densities lower than what is found in the Orion KL region. This relative absence of highest-density gas probably explains the suppression of star formation. The clouds are relatively turbulent, and ALMA observations of H 2 CO and SiO indicate that the turbulence is induced by high-velocity shocks. We speculate that these shocks might prevent the formation of high-mass cores.

Trends observed in galaxies, such as the Gao \& Solomon relation, suggest a linear relation between the star formation rate and the mass of dense gas available for star formation. Validation of such relations requires the establishment of reliable methods to trace the dense gas in galaxies. One frequent assumption is that the HCN ($J=1$--0) transition is unambiguously associated with gas at $\rm{}H_2$ densities $\gg{}10^4~\rm{}cm^{-3}$. If so, the mass of gas at densities $\gg{}10^4~\rm{}cm^{-3}$ could be inferred from the luminosity of this emission line, $L_{\rm{}HCN\,(1\text{--}0)}$. Here we use observations of the Orion~A molecular cloud to show that the HCN ($J=1$--0) line traces much lower densities $\sim{}10^3~\rm{}cm^{-3}$ in cold sections of this molecular cloud, corresponding to visual extinctions $A_V\approx{}6~\rm{}mag$. We also find that cold and dense gas in a cloud like Orion produces too little HCN emission to explain $L_{\rm{}HCN\,(1\text{--}0)}$ in star--forming galaxies, suggesting that galaxies might contain a hitherto unknown source of HCN emission. (Abridged) ASHES has been designed to systematically characterize the earliest stages and to constrain theories of high-mass star formation. A total of 12 massive (>500 $M_{\odot}$), cold (30 $M_{\odot}$) prestellar cores. The most massive prestellar core has a mass of 11 $M_{\odot}$. From the prestellar CMF, we derive a power law index of 1.17+-0.1, slightly shallower than Salpeter (1.35). We use the MST technique to characterize the separation between cores and their spatial distribution, and derive mass segregation ratios. While there is a range of core masses and separations detected in the sample, the mean separation and mass of cores are well explained by thermal fragmentation and are inconsistent with turbulent Jeans fragmentation. The core spatial distribution is well described by hierarchical subclustering rather than centrally peaked clustering. There is no conclusive evidence of mass segregation. Characterizing the variability of the extragalactic sources used for calibration in the Atacama Large Millimeter/Sub-millimeter Array (ALMA) is key to assess the flux scale uncertainty of science observations. To this end, we model the variability of 39 quasars which have been used by ALMA as secondary flux calibrators using continuous time stochastic processes. This formalism is specially adapted to the multi-frequency, quasi-periodic sampling which characterizes the calibration monitoring of ALMA. We find that simple mixtures of Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes can describe well the flux and spectral index variability of these sources for Bands 3 and 7 (91.5 and 103.5, and 343.5 GHz, respectively). The spectral shape of the calibrators are characterized by negative spectral indices, mostly between $-0.35$ and $-0.80$, and with additional concavity. The model provides forecasts, interpolations, and uncertainty estimations for the observed fluxes that depend on the intrinsic variability of the source. These can be of practical use for the ALMA data calibrator survey and data quality assurance.

We present the first systematic study of the density structure of clouds found in a complete sample covering all major molecular clouds in the Central Molecular Zone (CMZ; inner $\sim{}200~\rm{}pc$) of the Milky Way. This is made possible by using data from the Galactic Center Molecular Cloud Survey (GCMS), the first study resolving all major molecular clouds in the CMZ at interferometer angular resolution. We find that many CMZ molecular clouds have unusually shallow density gradients compared to regions elsewhere in the Milky Way. This is possibly a consequence of weak gravitational binding of the clouds. The resulting relative absence of dense gas on spatial scales $\sim{}0.1~\rm{}pc$ is probably one of the reasons why star formation (SF) in dense gas of the CMZ is suppressed by a factor $\sim{}10$, compared to solar neighborhood clouds. Another factor suppressing star formation are the high SF density thresholds that likely result from the observed gas kinematics. We present radio continuum observations of the high-mass young stellar object (HMYSO) G345.4938+01.4677 made using the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) at 5, 9, 17, and 19 GHz. These observations provide definite evidence that the outer and inner pairs of radio lobes consist of shock ionized material being excited by an underlying collimated and fast protostellar jet emanating from a hypercompact HII region. By comparing with images taken 6 yr earlier at 5 and 9 GHz using the same telescope, we assess the proper motions of the radio sources. The outer West and East lobes exhibit proper motions of $64\pm12$ and $48\pm13$ milliarcsec yr$^{-1}$, indicating velocities projected in the plane of the sky and receding from G345.4938+01.4677 of $520$ and $390$ km s$^{-1}$, respectively. The internal radio lobes also display proper motion signals consistently receding from the HMYSO, with magnitudes of $17\pm11$ and $35\pm10$ milliarcsec yr$^{-1}$ for the inner West and East lobes, respectively. The morphology of the outer West lobe is that of a detached bow shock. At 17 and 19 GHz, the outer East lobe displays an arcuate morphology also suggesting a bow shock. These results show that disk accretion and jet acceleration --- possibly occurring in a very similar way compared with low-mass protostars --- is taking place in G345.4938+01.4677 despite the presence of ionizing radiation and the associated hypercompact HII region., Comment: Accepted in the Astrophysical Journal. 36 pages, 9 figures

We present the spatially resolved star formation history (SFH) of the Carina dwarf spheroidal galaxy, obtained from deep, wide-field g,r imaging and a metallicity distribution from the literature. Our photometry covers $\sim2$ deg$^2$, reaching up to $\sim10$ times the half-light radius of Carina with a completeness higher than $50\%$ at $g\sim24.5$, more than one magnitude fainter than the oldest turnoff. This is the first time a combination of depth and coverage of this quality has been used to derive the SFH of Carina, enabling us to trace its different populations with unprecedented accuracy. We find that Carina's SFH consists of two episodes well separated by a star formation temporal gap. These episodes occurred at old ($>10$ Gyr) and intermediate ($2$-$8$ Gyr) ages. Our measurements show that the old episode comprises the majority of the population, accounting for $54\pm5\%$ of the stellar mass within $1.3$ times the King tidal radius, while the total stellar mass derived for Carina is $1.60\pm0.09\times 10^{6} M_{\rm{\odot}}$, and the stellar mass-to-light ratio $1.8\pm0.2$. The SFH derived is consistent with no recent star formation which hints that the observed blue plume is due to blue stragglers. We conclude that the SFH of Carina evolved independently of the tidal field of the Milky Way, since the frequency and duration of its star formation events do not correlate with its orbital parameters. Radio continuum observations using the Australia telescope compact array at 5.5, 9.0, 17.0 and 22.8 GHz have detected free-free emission associated with 45 of 49 massive young stellar objects and H II regions. Of these, 26 sources are classified as ionized jets (12 of which are candidates), 2 as ambiguous jets or disc winds, 1 as a disc-wind, 14 as H II regions and 2 were unable to be categorized. Classification as ionized jets is based upon morphology, radio flux and spectral index, in conjunction with previous observational results at other wavelengths. Radio luminosity and momentum are found to scale with bolometric luminosity in the same way as low-mass jets, indicating a common mechanism for jet production across all masses. In 13 of the jets, we see associated non-thermal/optically thin lobes resulting from shocks either internal to the jet and/or at working surfaces. 10 jets display non-thermal (synchrotron emission) spectra in their lobes, with an average spectral index of ? =-0.55 consistent with Fermi acceleration in shocks. This shows that magnetic fields are present, in agreement with models of jet formation incorporatingmagnetic fields. Since the production of collimated radio jets is associated with accretion processes, the results presented in this paper support the picture of disc-mediated accretion for the formation of massive stars with an upper limit on the jet phase lasting approximately 6.5×104 yr. Typical mass-loss rates in the jet are found to be 1.4× 10-5M? yr-1 with associated momentum rates of the order of (1-2) × 10-2M? km s-1 yr-1. © 2016 The Authors. In the Milky Way there are thousands of stellar clusters each harboring from a hundred to a million stars. Although clusters are common, the initial conditions of cluster formation are still not well understood. To determine the processes involved in the formation and evolution of clusters it is key to determine the global properties of cluster-forming clumps in their earliest stages of evolution. Here, we present the physical properties of 1,244 clumps identified from the MALT90 survey. Using the dust temperature of the clumps as a proxy for evolution we determined how the clump properties change at different evolutionary stages. We find that less-evolved clumps exhibiting dust temperatures lower than 20 K have higher densities and are more gravitationally bound than more-evolved clumps with higher dust temperatures. We also identified a sample of clumps in a very early stage of evolution, thus potential candidates for high-mass star-forming clumps. Only one clump in our sample has physical properties consistent with a young massive cluster progenitor, reinforcing the fact that massive proto-clusters are very rare in the Galaxy.

We present dust column densities and dust temperatures for $\sim3000$ young high-mass molecular clumps from the Millimetre Astronomy Legacy Team 90 GHz (MALT90) survey, derived from adjusting single temperature dust emission models to the far-infrared intensity maps measured between 160 and 870 \micron\ from the Herschel/Hi-Gal and APEX/ATLASGAL surveys. We discuss the methodology employed in analyzing the data, calculating physical parameters, and estimating their uncertainties. The population average dust temperature of the clumps are: $16.8\pm0.2$ K for the clumps that do not exhibit mid-infrared signatures of star formation (Quiescent clumps), $18.6\pm0.2$ K for the clumps that display mid-infrared signatures of ongoing star formation but have not yet developed an HII region (Protostellar clumps), and $23.7\pm0.2$ and $28.1\pm0.3$ K for clumps associated with HII and photo-dissociation regions, respectively. These four groups exhibit large overlaps in their temperature distributions, with dispersions ranging between 4 and 6 K. The median of the peak column densities of the Protostellar clump population is $0.20\pm0.02$ gr cm$^{-2}$, which is about 50% higher compared to the median of the peak column densities associated with clumps in the other evolutionary stages. We compare the dust temperatures and column densities measured toward the center of the clumps with the mean values of each clump. We find that in the Quiescent clumps the dust temperature increases toward the outer regions and that they are associated with the shallowest column density profiles. Se ha demostrado que la irrigación pulpar disminuye tempranamente cuando se realizan aplicaciones continuas de fuerzas ortodóncicas, aun si éstas son de intensidad suave, concluyendo que la magnitud de las fuerzas no necesariamente debe ser excesiva para originar daño celular, el que eventualmente podría derivar en cuadros que van desde simples cambios de color coronario hasta obliteraciones camerales o la misma necrosis pulpar. Using Galactic Plane surveys, we have selected a massive (1200 M$_\odot$), cold (14 K) 3.6-70 $\mu$m dark IRDC G331.372-00.116. This IRDC has the potential to form high-mass stars and, given the absence of current star formation signatures, it seems to represent the earliest stages of high-mass star formation. We have mapped the whole IRDC with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) at 1.1 and 1.3 mm in dust continuum and line emission. The dust continuum reveals 22 cores distributed across the IRDC. In this work, we analyze the physical properties of the most massive core, ALMA1, which has no molecular outflows detected in the CO (2-1), SiO (5-4), and H$_2$CO (3-2) lines. This core is relatively massive ($M$ = 17.6 M$_\odot$), subvirialized (virial parameter $\alpha_{vir}=M_{vir}/M=0.14$), and is barely affected by turbulence (transonic Mach number of 1.2). Using the HCO$^+$ (3-2) line, we find the first detection of infall signatures in a relatively massive, prestellar core (ALMA1) with the potential to form a high-mass star. We estimate an infall speed of 1.54 km s$^{-1}$ and a high accretion rate of 1.96 $\times$ 10$^{-3}$ M$_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$. ALMA1 is rapidly collapsing, out of virial equilibrium, more consistent with competitive accretion scenarios rather than the turbulent core accretion model. On the other hand, ALMA1 has a mass $\sim$6 times larger than the clumps Jeans mass, being in an intermediate mass regime ($M_{J}=2.7, Comment: 13 Pages, 5 Figures, 3 Tables

We present molecular line observations of the high-mass molecular clump IRAS 16562$-$3959 taken at 3 mm using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) at 1.$\!\!^{\prime\prime}$7 angular resolution ($0.014$ pc spatial resolution). This clump hosts the actively accreting high-mass young stellar object (HMYSO) G345.4938+01.4677, associated with a hypercompact HII region. We identify and analyze emission lines from 22 molecular species (encompassing 34 isomers) and classify them into two groups, depending on their spatial distribution within the clump. One of these groups gathers shock tracers (e.g., SiO, SO, HNCO) and species formed in dust grains like methanol (CH$_3$OH), ethenone or ketene (H$_2$CCO), and acetaldehyde (CH$_3$CHO). The second group collects species resembling the dust continuum emission morphology and which are formed mainly in the gas-phase, like hydrocarbons (CCH, c-C$_3$H$_2$, CH$_3$CCH), cyanopolyynes (HC$_3$N and HC$_5$N) and cyanides (HCN and CH$_3$C$_3$N). Emission from complex organic molecules (COMs) like CH$_3$OH, propanenitrile (CH$_3$CH$_2$CN), and methoxymethane (CH$_3$OCH$_3$) arise from gas in the vicinity of a hot molecular core ($T\gtrsim100$ K) associated with the HMYSO. Other COMs such as propyne (CH$_3$CCH), acrylonitrile (CH$_2$CHCN), and acetaldehyde seem to better trace warm ($T\lesssim80$ K) dense gas. In addition, deuterated ammonia (NH$_2$D) is detected mostly in the outskirts of IRAS 16562$-$3959, associated with near-infrared dark globules, probably gaseous remnants of the clump's prestellar phase. The Infrared Dark Cloud (IRDC) G028.23-00.19 hosts a massive (1,500 Msun), cold (12 K), and 3.6-70 um IR dark clump (MM1) that has the potential to form high-mass stars. We observed this prestellar clump candidate with the SMA (~3.5" resolution) and JVLA (~2.1" resolution) in order to characterize the early stages of high-mass star formation and to constrain theoretical models. The importance of the magnetic (B) field in the formation of infrared dark clouds (IRDCs) and massive stars is an ongoing topic of investigation. We studied the plane-of-sky B field for one IRDC, G028.23-00.19, to understand the interaction between the field and the cloud. We used near-IR background starlight polarimetry to probe the B field and performed several observational tests to assess the field importance. The polarimetric data, taken with the Mimir instrument, consisted of H-band and K-band observations, totaling 17,160 stellar measurements. We traced the plane-of-sky B-field morphology with respect to the sky-projected cloud elongation. We also found the relationship between the estimated B-field strength and gas volume density, and we computed estimates of the normalized mass-to-magnetic flux ratio. The B-field orientation with respect to the cloud did not show a preferred alignment, but it did exhibit a large-scale pattern. The plane-of-sky B-field strengths ranged from 10 to 165 {\mu}G, and the B-field strength dependence on density followed a power law with an index consistent with 2/3. The mass-to-magnetic flux ratio also increased as a function of density. The relative orientations and relationship between the B field and density imply that the B field was not dynamically important in the formation of the IRDC. The increase in mass-to-flux ratio as a function of density, though, indicates a dynamically important B field. Therefore, it is unclear whether the B field influenced the formation of G28.23. We have used deep near-infrared observations with adaptive optics to discover a distributed population of low-mass protostars within the filamentary Infrared Dark Cloud G34.43+00.24. We use maps of dust emission at multiple wavelengths to determine the column density structure of the cloud. In combination with an empirically-verified model of the magnitude distribution of background stars, this column density map allows us to reliably determine overdensities of red sources that are due to embedded protostars in the cloud. We also identify protostars through their extended emission in K-band which comes from excited H2 in protostellar outflows or reflection nebulosity. We find a population of distributed low-mass protostars, suggesting that low-mass protostars may form earlier than, or contemporaneously with, high-mass protostars in such a filament. The low-mass protostellar population may also produce the narrow linewidth SiO emission observed in some clouds without high-mass protostars. Finally, we use a molecular line map of the cloud to determine the virial parameter per unit length along the filament and find that the highest mass protostars form in the most bound portion of the filament, as suggested by theoretical models., Comment: 15 pages, 16 figures. We report the detection, made using ALMA, of the 92 GHz continuum and hydrogen recombination lines (HRLs) H40α ,H 42α, and H50β emission toward the ionized wind associated with the high-mass young stellar object G345.4938+01.4677. This is the luminous central dominating source located in the massive and dense molecular clump associated with IRAS 16562−3959. The HRLs exhibit Voigt profiles, which is a strong signature of Stark broadening. We successfully reproduce the observed continuum and HRLs simultaneously using a simple model of a slow ionized wind in local thermodynamic equilibrium, with no need for a high-velocity component. The Lorentzian line wings imply electron densities of 5 × 10 7 cm −3 on average. In addition, we detect SO and SO2 emission arising from a compact (∼3000 AU) molecular core associated with the central young star. The molecular core exhibits a velocity gradient that is perpendicular to the jet-axis, which we interpret as evidence of rotation. The set of observations toward G345.4938+01.4677 are consistent with it being a young high-mass star associated with a slow photo-ionized wind.

HE0512–3329 is a gravitationally-lensed double QSO with damped Ly $\alpha$ systems observed at $z=0.931$ in front of both QSO images (DLA A and B). We have obtained spatially resolved HST STIS and optical VLT UVES spectra of both QSOs in order to study differences in the metal abundances across the lines of sight. We detect substantial differences, of roughly 0.5 dex, in both [Mn/H] and [Fe/H], on a transverse scale of 5 $h^{-1}$ kpc. Differential dust depletion appears as the most plausible explanation.

In a survey of 65 galaxies, Gao & Solomon (2004) found a tight linear relation between the infrared luminosity ($L_{\rm{IR}}$, a proxy for the star formation rate) and the HCN(1-0) luminosity ($L_{\rm{HCN}}$). Wu et al. (2005, 2010) found that this relation extends from these galaxies to the much less luminous Galactic molecular high-mass star-forming clumps ($\sim$1 pc scales), and posited that there exists a characteristic ratio $L_{\rm{IR}}$ /$L_{\rm{HCN}}$ for high-mass star-forming clumps. The Gao-Solomon relation for galaxies could then be explained as a summation of large numbers of high-mass star-forming clumps, resulting in the same $L_{\rm{IR}}$ /$L_{\rm{HCN}}$ ratio for galaxies. We test this explanation and other possible origins of the Gao-Solomon relation using high-density tracers (including HCN(1-0), N$_2$H$^+$(1-0), HCO$^+$(1-0), HNC(1-0), HC$_3$N(10-9), and C$_2$H(1-0)) for $\sim$300 Galactic clumps from the Millimetre Astronomy Legacy Team 90 GHz (MALT90) survey. The MALT90 data show that the Gao-Solomon relation in galaxies cannot be satisfactorily explained by the blending of large numbers of high-mass clumps in the telescope beam. Not only do the clumps have a large scatter in the $L_{\rm{IR}}$/$L_{\rm{HCN}}$ ratio, but also far too many high-mass clumps are required to account for the Galactic IR and HCN luminosities. We suggest that the scatter in the $L_{\rm{IR}}$/$L_{\rm{HCN}}$ ratio converges to the scatter of the Gao-Solomon relation at some size-scale $\gtrsim$1 kpc. We report molecular line observations in the CO J=3$\rightarrow$2, 6$\rightarrow$5 and 7$\rightarrow$6 transitions, made using the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment Telescope (APEX), toward the massive and dense core IRAS 16562$-$3959. This core harbors a string of radio sources thought to be powered by a central collimated jet of ionized gas. The molecular observations show the presence of high velocity gas exhibiting a quadrupolar morphology, most likely produced by the presence of two collimated outflows. The southeast-northwest molecular outflow is aligned with the string of radio continuum sources, suggesting it is driven by the jet. We find that the excitation temperature of the gas in the SE-NW outflow is high, with values of 145 and 120 K for the blueshifted and redshifted lobes, respectively. This outflow has a total mass of 1.92 \Msun, a total momentum of $\sim 89$ \Msun \kms and an averaged momentum rate of $\sim 3.0\times10^{-2}$ \Msun \kms yr$^{-1}$, values characteristics of flows driven by young massive stellar objects with high luminosities ($L_{\rm bol} \sim 2\times10^4$ \Lsun). Complementary data taken with the Atacama Submillimeter Telescope Experiment (ASTE) in high density and shock tracers support the picture that IRAS 16562$-$3959 is an accreting young massive star associated with an ionized jet, which is the energy source of a molecular outflow., Accepted for publication in the ApJ

Aims: We study the Galactic large-scale synchrotron emission by generating a reliable all-sky spectral index map and temperature map at 45 MHz. Methods: We use our observations, the published all-sky map at 408 MHz, and a bibliographical compilation to produce a map corrected for zero-level offset and extragalactic contribution. Results: We present full sky maps of the Galactic emission at 45 MHz and the Galactic spectral index between 45 and 408 MHz with an angular resolution of 5\degs. The spectral index varies between 2.1 and 2.7, reaching values below 2.5 at low latitude because of thermal free-free absorption and its maximum in the zone next to the Northern Spur., A&A accepted

We report the discovery made using the Australia Telescope Compact Array of a remarkable string of radio emission towards IRAS 16562-3959, a luminous infrared source with a bolometric luminosity of $7.0\times10^4$ \Lsun. The radio emission arises from a compact, bright central component, two inner lobes, which are separated by about 7\arcsec\ and symmetrically offset from the central source, and two outer lobes which are separated by about 45\arcsec. The emission from the central object has a spectral index between 1.4 and 8.6 GHz of $0.85\pm0.15$, consistent with free-free emission from a thermal jet. The radio emission from the lobes have spectral indices in the range characteristic of thermal emission. We suggest that the emission from the lobes arises in shocks resulting from the interaction of a collimated wind with the surrounding medium. The radio string is located within a massive dense molecular core, and is associated with extended green emission (Spitzer 3-color), Herbig-Haro type emission (2MASS K$_s$-band) and OH maser sites -- all phenomena readily observed towards sites of massive star formation. We conclude that the massive core hosts a high-mass star in an early stage of evolution in which it is undergoing the ejection of a powerful collimated stellar wind, showing that jets found in the formation of low-mass stars are also produced in high-mass stars.

We report molecular line observations, made with ASTE and SEST, and dust continuum observations at 0.87 mm, made with APEX, towards the cold dust core G305.136+0.068. The molecular observations show that the core is isolated and roughly circularly symmetric and imply that it has a mass of $1.1\times10^3~M_\odot$. A simultaneous model fitting of the spectra observed in four transitions of CS, using a non-LTE radiative transfer code, indicates that the core is centrally condensed, with the density decreasing with radius as $r^{-1.8}$, and that the turbulent velocity increases towards the center. The dust observations also indicate that the core is highly centrally condensed and that the average column density is 1.1 g cm$^{-2}$, value slightly above the theoretical threshold required for the formation of high mass stars. A fit to the spectral energy distribution of the emission from the core indicates a dust temperature of $17\pm2$ K, confirming that the core is cold. Spitzer images show that the core is seen in silhouette from 3.6 to 24.0 $\mu$m and that is surrounded by an envelope of emission, presumably tracing an externally excited photo-dissociated region. We found two embedded sources within a region of 20" centered at the peak of the core, one of which is young, has a luminosity of $66~L_\odot$ and is accreting mass with a high accretion rate, of $\sim1\times10^{-4}~M_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$. We suggest that this object corresponds to the seed of a high mass protostar still in the process of formation. The present observations support the hypothesis that G305.136+0.068 is a massive and dense cold core in an early stage of evolution, in which the formation of a high mass star has just started., Comment: ApJ, in press

We study metal abundances in the z = 0.9313 damped Ly alpha system observed along the two lines of sight, A and B, toward the gravitationally lensed double QSO HE 0512-3329. Spatially resolved Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph spectra constrain the neutral-gas column density to be N(H I) = 1020.5 cm(-2) in both A and B. UV-visual Echelle Spectrograph spectra ( spectral resolution FWHM = 9.8 km s(-1)) show, in contrast, significant line-of-sight differences in the column densities of Mn II and Fe II; these are not due to observational systematics. We find that [Mn/H] = -1.44 and [Fe/H] = -1.52 in damped Ly alpha system A, while [Mn/H] = -0.98 and [Fe/H] > -1.32, and possibly as high as [Fe/H] approximate to -1, in damped Ly alpha system B. A careful assessment of possible systematic errors leads us to conclude that these transverse differences are significant at a 5 sigma level or greater. Although nucleosynthesis effects may also be at play, we favor differential dust depletion as the main mechanism producing the observed abundance gradient. The transverse separation is 5 h(70)(-1) kpc at the redshift of the absorber, which is also likely to be the lensing galaxy. The derived abundances therefore probe two opposite sides of a single galaxy hosting both damped Ly alpha systems. This is the first time firm abundance constraints have been obtained for a single damped system probed by two lines of sight. The significance of this finding for the cosmic evolution of metals is discussed

The chemical changes of high-mass star-forming regions provide a potential method for classifying their evolutionary stages and, ultimately, ages. In this study, we search for correlations between molecular abundances and the evolutionary stages of dense molecular clumps associated with high-mass star formation. We use the molecular line maps from Year 1 of the Millimetre Astronomy Legacy Team 90 GHz (MALT90) Survey. The survey mapped several hundred individual star-forming clumps chosen from the ATLASGAL survey to span the complete range of evolution, from prestellar to protostellar to H II regions. The evolutionary stage of each clump is classified using the Spitzer GLIMPSE/MIPSGAL mid-IR surveys. Where possible, we determine the dust temperatures and H2 column densities for each clump from Herschel Hi-GAL continuum data. From MALT90 data, we measure the integrated intensities of the N2H+, HCO+, HCN and HNC (1-0) lines, and derive the column densities and abundances of N2H+ and HCO+. The Herschel dust temperatures increase as a function of the IR-based Spitzer evolutionary classification scheme, with the youngest clumps being the coldest, which gives confidence that this classification method provides a reliable way to assign evolutionary stages to clumps. Both N2H+ and HCO+ abundances increase as a function of evolutionary stage, whereas the N2H+ (1-0) to HCO+ (1-0) integrated intensity ratios show no discernable trend. The HCN (1-0) to HNC(1-0) integrated intensity ratios show marginal evidence of an increase as the clumps evolve.

We present new Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) observations of the tadpole, a small globule in the Carina Nebula that hosts the HH 900 jet+outflow system. Our data include $^{12}$CO, $^{13}$CO, C$^{18}$O J=2-1, $^{13}$CO, C$^{18}$O J=3-2, and serendipitous detections of DCN J=3-2 and CS J=7-6. With angular resolution comparable to the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), our data reveal for the first time the bipolar molecular outflow in CO, seen only inside the globule, that is launched from the previously unseen jet-driving protostar (the HH 900 YSO). The biconical morphology joins smoothly with the externally irradiated outflow seen in ionized gas tracers outside the globule, tracing the overall morphology of a jet-driven molecular outflow. Continuum emission at the location of the HH 900 YSO appears to be slightly flattened perpendicular to outflow axis. Model fits to the continuum have a best-fit spectral index of $\sim 2$, suggesting cold dust and the onset of grain growth. In position-velocity space, $^{13}$CO and C$^{18}$O gas kinematics trace a C-shaped morphology, similar to infall profiles seen in other sources, although the global dynamical behaviour of the gas remains unclear. Line profiles of the CO isotopologues display features consistent with externally heated gas. We estimate a globule mass of $\sim 1.9$ M$_{\odot}$, indicating a remaining lifetime of $\sim 4$ Myr, assuming a constant photoevaporation rate. This long globule lifetime will shield the disk from external irradiation perhaps prolonging its life and enabling planet formation in regions where disks are typically rapidly destroyed., Comment: MNRAS, accepted
