The implementation of social and emotional learning (SEL) strategies has been shown to foster cognitive development, boost student motivation and focus, improve teacher-student relationships, and enhance student confidence and achievement. To further promote engagement and social awareness in higher education, greater emphasis should be placed on addressing students' emotional needs in the classroom. By emphasizing respect for others, appreciation for diverse perspectives, and willingness to help those in need, SEL can enhance student motivation, academic achievement, and overall success in higher education. For many students, the transition to higher education can cause anxiety, stress, and a sense of isolation. Without the necessary social and emotional skills to navigate this new environment, students may struggle academically, socially, and emotionally. This is where social and emotional learning (SEL) can play a crucial role in helping students successfully transition to higher education. By developing SEL skills, individuals are better equipped to navigate life's challenges and opportunities, both in their personal and professional lives. The current study explores how students in higher education perceived their experiences related to assessment, performance, anxieties, insecurities, and self-management. The study aimed to gain a better understanding of how students perceive the higher education environment and how it impacts their motivation to learn and succeed.

Understanding the spatiotemporal monsoonal variability during the Holocene helps in understanding the rise and fall of many civilizations. In this study, a 2.65 m high palaeo lake sedimentary profile from the Kumaun Lesser Himalaya, Uttarakhand State, India was pollen analysed to reconstruct the variability in the monsoonal precipitation during the Middle Holocene. The study revealed that between ~7522 and 7216 cal yr BP, conifers dominated mixed broad-leaved forests occurred around the landscape of the study area, indicating a less cold and dry climate with decreased monsoon precipitation. Broad-leaved taxa during this phase show increased values considerably, indicating amelioration in climatic condition, which could be, in global perspective, broadly falling within the time-interval of the Holocene Climate Optimum (HCO; 7000–4000 BP). Between ~7216 and 6526 cal yr BP, dense conifers-dominated mixed broad-leaved forests transformed the conifers-dominated broad-leaved forests around the study area under a cold and drier climate with further reduction in monsoon precipitation. Subsequently, between ~6526 and 5987 cal yr BP, conifers-dominated broad-leaved forests continued to grow, but with lesser frequencies, around the study area under a comparatively less cold and dry climate with reduced monsoon precipitation. Finally, between ~5987 and 5817 cal yr BP, the frequencies of conifers-dominated broad-leaved forests further decreased around the landscape of the study area under a comparatively lesser cold and dry climate, probably indicating decreased monsoonal precipitation. Hence, the present study mainly showed the dominance of conifers forests around the study area between ~7522 and 7216 cal yr BP, ~7216 and 6526 cal yr BP, ~6526 and 5987 cal yr BP and between ~5987 and 5817 cal yr BP; however, broad-leaved forests also demonstrated increasing tendency between ~7522 and 7216 cal yr BP in the milieu of cold and dry climates. Moreover, the study also revealed that a lake was formed around 7522 cal yr BP along the Kulur River, a tributary of Saryu River around the study area and existed until 5817 cal yr BP.

Determination of tritium along Danube River Banks, in shallow waters, from Bazias to Sulina, led to an average value of 29 TU and to a slight increasing tendency. Upstream/downstream “signatures” of Kozloduy NPP and Cernavoda NPP, and lower values on the left bank than on right bank in Romania, between Ostrov and Tulcea were highlighted. For Black Sea Coast seashore waters, from Periboina to Vama Veche (55 points; average 31 TU), was highlighted tritium decreasing southward, a rising into central area, a difference between exposed and gulf areas, between seawater and adjacent lakes by the sea.

School years have an important role in defining a person for the world he will live in. The influence that the school environment has on defining a person for the future is something that teachers and policy makers take into consideration when developing strategies for learning and equally important in the evaluation process. The evaluation process is an integral part of the education process and the connections between evaluation, assessment of learning and learning constitute a focal part of the educators. School performance is not solely a function of student’s aptitude set, but also covers the optimal cognitive and affective-motivational recourses in relation to certain tasks. Emotional competence, along with the social competence is important in the development of positive relationships and emotionally feelings of security in creating a positive self image for young people. Young people with a positive self image will have a greater disposition to learning. For children learning about themselves happens within the context of their families and community and it includes all the type of relationships they forge with their peers, places and things in relation to the actions and responses from others. Experience is the one that shapes the emotional responses that children have in regards to all the things happening around them and inside them, at a self-understanding level. This paper aims to understand the way emotional identity of children helps them focus on the evaluation task in various contexts of every day school life.

In the context of forming the emotional dimension of identity in children in society and sharing knowledge teachers have a great responsibility. Primary school teachers should have the necessary acquired skills to be leaders of their classroom but also to be mentors for the social and emotional dimensions of the child leading to a well-balanced citizen. When children get into the classroom they expect a warming and welcoming environment. This task falls mostly into the creative ability of the teacher who contributes to a positive classroom atmosphere very important for an optimal educational process. Thus a secure classroom can transform the child and with a positive teacher-student relationship he can better engage in learning activities. Most children in the Romanian school system view the classroom as their second home but this dimension is limited by the educational system’s agenda that has a greater influence in the teacher-student relationship. This study focuses on the experiences that third grade pupils had learning in a classroom specific to the public educational system in Romania. We tried to find out more about their learning experience, thoughts and feelings towards their teacher and colleagues in concern with different approaches to the usual ones of the teacher-student learning process. For the purpose of this study we designed a questionnaire and asked the children directly about their thoughts and experiences. The results indicated that children view their teacher as a factor in their wellbeing in the school environment.

Musical education in the Romanian school system is made in a traditional fashion in most classrooms across the country. Parents’ involvement in the musical teaching of their children is limited to professional music/ instrument learning in the schools that have the music as the main subject, therefore some teachers venture into an unconventional way of using music and musical education in the education of young children. Our paper focuses on the interest shown by parents in music teaching or learning music together with their children in their own spare time through diverse activities that involve music.

Contemporary society has a direct influence on child development. Children's social-emotional development is an important component for future development in terms of social relations. Listening to music is becoming a ubiquitous partner in the child's life. This study presents a brief research in establishing and shaping a favourable context necessary for social-emotional development of preschool children through music background listening. The research was conducted for a period of four weeks with a middle group in a kindergarten from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The results were consistent with the contemporary research and have shown that certain musical environments are more effective than others.

The learning process involves mediation components such as: language, body language, use of socio-cultural means, symbols, observation. All these components are layered by common values ​​and socio-cultural characteristics. The learning process in school, also the one used in school trips/museums/spectacles, is influenced by theories that argue that learning is not a linear process, but whose success rate is due to a personalized and adapted curriculum. The relationship between museums and schools is a long-standing traditional friendship. Visits to the museum form links between learning content, such as: the introduction of students and motivating them when they are presented with a new learning task, visits offer students the opportunity to use previously accumulated knowledge to develop further discussions. Thanks to this partnership between museums and schools, museums have adapted their exhibitions for taking into account the educational approach. The teaching methods used frequently in the context of carrying out teaching activities in mathematics and explore the environment at the level of primary school age are enquiry, observation and demonstration method (demonstration with substitutes). Curators are trained to assist visitors – students to perceive a different kind of learning. The current study tries to show the development of knowledge of a group of children from the first grade in the field of mathematics and sciences after a series of visits in various museums, exhibitions and spectacles.

An optimal synthesis of N-[1-13C]caproyl-N′-phenylthiourea with isotopic enrichment 82% is described, starting from barium [13C]carbonate, using five synthetic steps. Yields were 95% relative to caproyl chloride and 46% relative to barium carbonate. Oxidation of the title compound with manganese dioxide yields the corresponding ureide. Structural similarities with anticonvulsants such as phenacemide make N-caproyl-N′-phenylthiourea an interesting model compound. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
