Artificial intelligence (AI) is considered a mechanism that can improve supply chain resilience. Organisations around the world are investing in implementing AI systems to improve their supply chain and become more resilient to pandemics and disruption. At the same time, practitioners are not fully aware of the factors that impact the implementation of these systems. Alongside this, the extant literature lacks a comprehensive study that evaluates the enablers impacting the implementation of AI in production systems. This research fills this gap by identifying, defining, and evaluating the critical enablers influencing the adoption and implementation of AI in production systems. We extracted twelve enablers, created a conceptual model, and categorised the enablers based on the Technology, Organization, and Environment (TOE) framework. After categorisation, we used the analytical hierarchy process to assess the importance of the enablers presented in the model using data collected from eight experts. The results revealed that technology, as a category, is more crucial than organisation or environment. The findings also indicated that project management is the most critical of all twelve enablers. Urban green spaces play a vital role in enhancing the well-being of communities and mitigating environmental challenges such as air pollution and global warming. Despite their importance, effective models to allocate these green spaces are often overlooked, particularly in developing countries. This study utilises GIS-based Multi-Criteria Analysis and the Analytical Hierarchy Process to recommend optimal locations for green space interventions in Lilongwe City, Malawi, based on nine factors: population density, proximity to roads, slope, Digital Elevation Model (DEM), Normalized Difference Vegetative Index (NDVI), land cover, existing green space, proximity to water bodies, and nitrogen dioxide concentration. The results show that 0.57% (23,776 hectares) of Lilongwe city is highly suitable while 14.50% (604,596 hectares) is unsuitable for green space interventions, where population density was the most determining factor. The suitability varied across the city, with highly suitable areas predominantly located in the southern part. The study highlights the importance of informed decision-making in urban green space planning, setting a standard for equitable access to green spaces and sustainable urban development. Groundwater resource management and development should be done sustainably, which calls for accurate assessment based on new methods and scientific principles. There is an increasing demand for potable water supplies, to meet the woefully inadequate domestic water needs in the Batcham municipality (west of Cameroun). The dearth of knowledge on sustainable management of water resources is to blame for this predicament. As integrated methodologies are not used in groundwater exploration programs, the current problem has gotten worse. Innovative scientific principles of groundwater resource exploration are required to effectively counteract the non-rationalization of water and the problem of unacceptable failure rates in drilled water borehole development. This will improve the appropriate and sustainable use of these resources. Therefore, the goal of this research is to map groundwater potential zones by utilizing readily available datasets and remote sensing (RS), GIS, Frequency Ratios (FR), and multi-criteria analysis (AHP) techniques. The database used is made up of geological data, hydroclimatic data, well data, and satellite images. Each of the methods used is based on the study of the relationships between the factors controlling the groundwater potential. Among these factors, ten (10) were retained based on previous work; these are slope, elevation, land use, land cover, lineament density, drainage density, topographic wetness index, curvature, geology, rainfall, and the static water level. The AHP allowed, according to the user's expertise, to assign weights to each factor controlling the water potential. The FR made it possible to study the relationships linking each variable with high flow rates. The thematic layers obtained were integrated into a GIS environment to generate the groundwater potential map. Four classes of groundwater potential have been identified: bad, moderate, good, and excellent. The bad classes represent 8.32% and 11.21%; moderate 36.57% and 28.70%; good 43.55% and 38.93%; and excellent 11.56% and 21.16%, for the AHP and FR models, respectively. The overlying of wells with high flow rates on areas of excellent groundwater potential shows perfect concordance, which validated the final map. Likewise, the resulting map was validated by sensitivity curve analysis, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve from which result accuracy was obtained is 70.63% and 80.28% for the AHP method and FR method, respectively. Finally, the FR model outperformed the AHP model in terms of performance and it is possible to use these dependable models to describe groundwater potential zones in the other regions of Cameroon. Informed decision regarding cultivating the right crop in the right land will guarantee maximum production, which is the need of the hour to meet the world's burgeoning food demand and to ensure the sustainability of agriculture. The present study aimed to identify the land suitability for major crops in the semi-arid ecosystem of Palani block in Tamil Nadu by integrating the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and geographic information system (GIS). Soil slope and various soil characteristics influencing crop growth such as soil depth, texture, drainage, gravelliness, pH and organic carbon were considered for assessing the land suitability. Weights and scores were assigned to the selected criteria and their respective sub-criteria based on their relative significance in influencing crop growth. It was found that soil drainage and texture were the most influencing factors for paddy cultivation, with weights of 0.49 and 0.27, respectively. For field beans, coconut, and guava, texture and depth were identified as the major influencing factors with high weightages ranging from 0.26 to 0.40. Results indicate that about 22% (8627 ha) of the study area was highly suitable for field beans, followed by paddy (18%). In contrast, paddy and coconut registered the largest land area under the marginally suitable class and were deemed unsuitable for about 19% and 21% of the land, respectively. For guava and field beans, respectively 37% and 44% of the land were found moderately suitable while 77% and 76.6% of the land were found suitable. Soil texture, soil depth, and drainage were identified as the major impediments to coconut and paddy suitability. An error matrix was generated by comparing the land suitability derived through the AHP–GIS method with the farmers' opinions on land suitability for different crops. It indicated a high agreement between the suitability classes and farmers' opinion for field beans, followed by coconut, guava and rice with kappa indices of 0.64, 0.51, 0.49 and 0.40 and overall accuracy of 75%, 65%, 62% and 60%, respectively. The present study not only helps in identifying suitable areas for crop cultivation, but also recommends land management strategies to each land parcel to improve land productivity and sustainability. Chhota Udepur district of Gujarat, India often receives floods during monsoon, which potentially affects socio-economic conditions. A flood vulnerability map serves as an important tool for flood modelling to manage and minimize the impacts of floods. This study employs a Multi-Criteria Data Analysis (MCDA) approach in conjunction with an Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and GIS to model flood events. Identification of flood-vulnerable zones was conducted using the AHP with the help of fifteen flood-affecting parameters including precipitation, slope, elevation, curvature, topographic wetness index (TWI), drainage density, topographic ruggedness index (TRI), distance from the river, land use land cover (LULC), soil-adjusted vegetation index (SAVI), normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), stream power index (SPI), soil texture, geology, and geomorphology. The flood causative factors were estimated to determine the weightage of factors for the preparation of the flood vulnerability map. Results revealed that flood occurrence in the district is highly dependent on precipitation and LULC. More than 22% of the total geographical area comprising about 764 km2 was observed under a high flood vulnerability zone and about 69% under a moderately flood vulnerable zone. Mostly, Sankheda and Naswadi taluka were found to be highly vulnerable to flooding. Process parameter optimization and selection play a crucial role in additive manufacturing, particularly in determining the quality and characteristics of the final product. Among these parameters, the infill pattern holds significant importance as it directly influences the structural integrity, production time, and material usage efficiency of the printed object. This research focuses on identifying the most suitable 3D printing infill pattern process parameters for thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) material, specifically for applications in pipeline construction. The criteria considered for process parameter selection include printing time, ultimate tensile strength, ultimate flexural strength, and surface defect minimization. Various infill patterns, including hexagonal, line, solid, triangle (35°), triangle (55°), and line patterns, are evaluated as alternatives. Utilizing the multi‐criteria decision‐making technique known as analytical hierarchy process (AHP), a systematic approach is employed to determine the optimal printing pattern. The findings of this study reveal that the hexagonal infill pattern outperforms other selected patterns in terms of meeting the criteria set forth for pipeline construction using TPU material. This research contributes to enhancing the efficiency and quality of additive manufacturing processes in pipeline applications, emphasizing the importance of informed parameter selection for achieving desired performance outcomes. Selecting an appropriate Project Delivery Method (PDM) is a crucial decision for owners that significantly influences the success of a construction project. Various criteria, such as the nature of construction projects and the specific characteristics of owners and projects, should be properly considered to make this decision. This paper first assesses and evaluates the key criteria for selecting a PDM for building projects in Surabaya. It then proposes a multi-criteria decision-making model for the selection of three PDMs, namely Single General Contractor, Multiple Primes, and Design and Build. A three-step questionnaire survey was conducted to achieve the objectives. The initial analysis revealed six important selection criteria, which were then modelled and used in the subsequent survey. Using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) procedures, the second analysis determined the weights of each criterion for the three PDMs. The paper discusses these weights, suggesting the relative strengths of each PDM. Multi-criteria methods are highly attractive tools to address the inherent complexity of evaluating problems in various scientific areas. The combination of methods such as Delphi/AHP is emerging as a robust alternative to evaluate the sustainability of renewable energy sources. In this theoretical-descriptive research, the use of the Delphi method is proposed to select criteria and sub-criteria to obtain a high level of reliability, while the AHP method is used to establish an order of preference among the alternatives analyzed. This process requires the support of a committee of experts, whose role is to identify the various biomass alternatives that can be used in the sugar industry, considering aspects related to sustainability. The selected experts have identified energy, exergy, and emergetic indicators, in which economic, environmental, and social aspects are integrated. The multi-criteria analysis shows that the V1 variant was the most satisfactory in terms of biomass sustainability, representing 45% and 53% of the overall priorities in the evaluated case studies. In addition, the sensitivity analysis under an equal-weighted scenario for both study cases evidenced that variant V1 acquired the highest score (38.17%) among all alternatives. Variant V4 achieved the second highest score (31.79%), while alternative V2 achieved only 29.04%, respectively. Recreational fisheries in Chinese fishing villages have undergone significant transformation due to supportive government policies. This study develops a comprehensive indicator to objectively assess the development of recreational fisheries under rural revitalization policies. Six key dimensions were identified using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Delphi method. The findings indicate that fishery resource conditions and environmental conditions are paramount, followed by service conditions, activities, policy conditions, and accommodation conditions. Key success indicators indicate the importance and priority of implementing policies, including "Tasting delicious aquatic products", "Government support", "Recreational fishing activities pricing", and "Talent revitalization." This study concludes by offering strategic recommendations to prioritize recreational fisheries within rural revitalization policies, utilizing identified indicators for policy implementation, and establishing a dedicated promotional group. The quality and level of groundwater tables have rapidly declined because of intensive pumping in Punjab (Pakistan). For sustainable groundwater supplies, there is a need for better management practices. So, the identification of potential groundwater recharge zones is crucial for developing effective management systems. The current research is based on integrating seven contributing factors, including geology, soil map, land cover/land use, lineament density, drainage density, slope, and rainfall to categorize the area into various groundwater recharge potential zones using remote sensing, geographic information system (GIS), and analytical hierarchical process (AHP) for Punjab, Pakistan. The weights (for various thematic layers) and rating values (for sub-classes) in the overlay analysis were assigned for thematic layers and then modified and normalized using the AHP. The result indicates that about 17.88% of the area falls under the category of very high groundwater potential zones (GWPZs). It was found that only 12.27% of the area falls under the category of very low GWPZs. The results showed that spatial technologies like remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS), when combined with AHP technique, provide a robust platform for studying GWPZs. Natural risks comprise a whole range of disasters and dangers, requiring comprehensive management through advanced assessment, forecasting, and warning systems. Our specific focus is on landslides in difficult terrains. The evaluation of landslide risks employs sophisticated multicriteria models, such as the weighted sum GIS approach, which integrates qualitative parameters. Despite the challenges posed by the rugged terrain in Northern Algeria, it is paradoxically home to a dense population attracted by valuable hydro-agricultural resources. The goal of our research is to study landslide risks in these areas, particularly in the Mila region, with the aim of constructing a mathematical model that integrates both hazard and vulnerability considerations. This complex process identifies threats and their determining factors, including geomorphology and socio-economic conditions. We developed two algorithms, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP), to prioritize criteria and sub-criteria by assigning weights to them, aiming to find the optimal solution. By integrating multi-source data, including satellite images and in situ measurements, into a GIS and applying the two algorithms, we successfully generated landslide susceptibility maps. The FAHP method demonstrated a higher capacity to manage uncertainty and specialist assessment errors. This study investigates the thermal properties of lauric acid (LA) as a phase change material (PCM) using the K‐Means clustering method to analyze the melting characteristics. This study focuses on the optimization of PCMs using a hybrid methodology of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and K‐Means clustering. LA, enhanced with zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles, was evaluated for its thermal performance. LA's suitability as a PCM is evaluated based on initial temperature, heating rate, final temperature, and time to melt. AHP was employed to determine the weightage for three critical outcomes: latent heat, melting point, and thermal conductivity. The weightages assigned were 59%, 31%, and 11%, respectively, reflecting the relative importance of each outcome in assessing the efficiency of LA as a PCM. Furthermore, K‐Means clustering was then applied to categorize the data based on these weighted outcomes. AHP was utilized to determine the weightage of input parameters, assigning 27% to initial temperature, 15% to heating rate, and 22% to final temperature, underscoring their significance in the analysis. The optimal input conditions identified were an initial temperature of 24.8°C, a ieating rate of 5.6°C/min, a final temperature of 81.4°C, and a time to melt of 10.6 min. These conditions resulted in optimal outcomes of 208 J/g for latent heat, a melting point of 80.9°C, and a thermal conductivity of 0.21 W/m·K. The high availability of solar energy in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) makes it the most attractive source of energy in this region, especially due to the global shift toward eco-friendly systems. A significant increase in the implementation of solar PV projects has been noticed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). For this reason, this study conducted a multi-criteria decision-making process to compare four locations for building a solar PV park in the UAE, namely, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain. Various criteria were taken into account, including the solar radiation, wind speed, distance from the electricity grid, distance from seaports, and land cost. A hybrid AHP-TOPSIS model was employed to evaluate the criteria weights and alternatives' scores, which were also compared with the no priority-TOPSIS to check the effects of the criteria weights on the overall ranking. According to the findings, Dubai and Abu Dhabi were ranked first and second, with final scores of 0.7108 and 0.4427, respectively, when using the AHP-TOPSIS model. Furthermore, Umm Al Quwain scored slightly less than that of second place, with a value of 0.4252. The top two ranked alternatives were consistent between the two compared models, as Dubai also performed the best among all locations, which confirmed the reliability of the proposed approach and verified the obtained results and rankings. The groundwater crisis is spreading across India at an alarming rate, and it poses a serious threat to the existence of the living world. However, the nature of scarcity is uneven and spread to some unexpected locations, such as the Darjeeling Himalayan region, where rainfall is adequate. Darjeeling Himalaya, one of the most attractive tourist destinations in India, is facing a water crisis due to adverse topographical characteristics, climatic issues, and over-exploitation along with rapid urbanization, booming tourism industry, excessive deforestation, and climate change, which are making the situation progressively worsening. Consequently, a huge imbalance is generated between the requirements and availability of water, which promotes the black-marketing of water and has flourished in the entire region. For this reason, the assessment of the groundwater potential zone and its distribution in the Darjeeling Himalayan region become very important. In this regard, eight thematic maps are prepared with the help of geospatial techniques and integrated with frequency ratio and analytical hierarchy methods to prepare a groundwater potential map of the study area. The final map is reclassified into five potential zones, i.e., very low, low, moderate, high, and very high classes, respectively. The results of this analysis show that the success rate and prediction rate of the FR model are 87 and 83%, respectively. On the other hand, success and prediction rates for AHP methods are 84 and 79%, which indicates the performance of the FR method is slightly better than the AHP method. Since sustainability is completely critical for industry, this study puts forwards an integrated methodology based on Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to propose an export model for sustainable naval shipbuilding industry. This study, which includes real-cases and theoretical work, proposes a systematic approach to create export model for a sustainable naval shipbuilding industry by providing a roadmap for companies together with the external necessities to pursue a to-the-point export strategy. The methodology SWOT analysis is used to determine internal and external factors of the export potential for Turkish naval shipbuilding industry. Then, the AHP method is employed to prioritize the critical criteria and sub-criteria of naval shipbuilding projects in order to create a successful export model. The proposed model has been applied with a real case study to obtain a robust export model. Finally, a sensitivity analysis is also adopted to verify and extend usability of obtained results for soundness of the model. The obtained results of this study disclose that criterion "Resources" which includes sub criteria such as "importance of government-supported credit/incentive mechanisms", "presenting the offer with the financial credit package", and "the sufficiency of the company's capital", arises as the foremost important criteria for obtaining a successful export project methodology. While the criterion "Project Management" that includes sub criteria such as "ability to deliver in accordance with the project schedule", and "the ability to produce timely solutions to additional and unprecedented requirements" is also determined as the least favored criteria for reaching an export project model. One of the most significant natural resources, groundwater is essential to providing a long-term, reliable and sustainable global water supply. Therefore, delineating Groundwater potential zones (GWPZs) is crucial in effectively managing groundwater reserves. The present study attempts to delineate GWPZs in the Siliguri subdivision of West Bengal using integrated Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) in the light of a considerable shift in the patterns of groundwater usage, especially considering the ongoing rise in demand for groundwater owing to a variety of causes. Raster layers of fourteen causative factors Viz. geomorphology, lithology, lineament density, soil texture, elevation, slope, land use and land cover (LULC), river density, rainfall, pre-monsoon groundwater depth, post-monsoon groundwater depth, groundwater fluctuation, topographic wetness index (TWI) and topographic roughness index (TRI) are used to delineate GWPZs using AHP in GIS software. The final GWPZs map was categorised into five classes: very high (25.67%), High (31.77%), moderate (20.73%), low (17.67%) and very low (4.15%). The results are further validated by evaluating the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve with the groundwater level depth from 39 dug wells. The ROC curve shows that the AUC value is 0.818, representing a prediction accuracy of 81.80%. The comprehensive map of GWPZs will enhance managing natural assets to guarantee the continued preservation of water resources and the development of agriculture. Water is a vital resource used in effective sanitation, hygiene, drinking and agricultural uses. This study was in Obudu Plateau covering an area of 3,053.08km2. Analysis of remote sensing, geographic information system (GIS), and global positioning system (GPS) data obtained from satellite imageries and digital elevation model (DEM) assessed groundwater potential. The model was validated using borehole data in the area. Thematic layers of geology, lineament density, slope, geomorphology, land use and land cover and drainage density were integrated using GIS software. Multicriteria evaluation of the layers was by analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Pairwise comparison matrix shows consistency the consistency ratio is 0.07 or 7%. This shows the comparison of groundwater controlling factors is within acceptable limit of consistency. Overlay analysis produced groundwater potential map classified into five zones of very high 2.66% (81.31km2), high 6.92% (211.38km2) very low 9.60% (292.69km2), moderate 46.95% (1,433.46 km2) and low 33.87% (1,034.23km2). Structural geological setting determines largely the suitability of an area to groundwater occurrence. Overlaying each thematic layer with lineament density map produced a more credible groundwater potential model compared to preceding related works. Purpose: From the lens of organizational ambidexterity, the energy sector companies in India are confronted with numerous human resources (HR) challenges as they explore new avenues in the renewable sector while exploiting non-renewable (conventional) resources. This study aims to decode these challenges and identifies key competencies to address these. Design/methodology/approach: Data were gathered and analysed using a sequential mixed methodology (qualitative and quantitative) in three phases. In Phase 1, a focused group discussion with eight senior management employees was carried out to identify the HR challenges and competencies required for meeting those challenges. The themes derived from this were used in designing the questionnaire for use in Phase 2 to capture the perceptual differences between HR and Line managers on these challenges. The identified competencies by senior management were prioritized using the analytical hierarchy process in Phase 3. Findings: The study provides insight into the HR challenges in the pursuit of organizational ambidexterity by energy sector companies in India. Also, key competencies to deal with these challenges have been prescribed. Originality/value: While previous studies have identified generic HR challenges in this domain, the present study is unique in decoding the HR challenges as these organizations are simultaneously exploring and exploiting energy sources for achieving excellence in the Indian context. In response to heightened competition arising from globalization, companies are crafting strategies to sustain their operations. However, these strategies also introduce risks that require meticulous management. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated disruptions in supply chains, including the vulnerable food supply chain (FCS), strained further by escalating food prices and resource depletion in recent times. Within this context, the vulnerability of global FSCs has escalated significantly due to government-imposed lockdowns during the pandemic. This study aims to comprehensively investigate the multifaceted disruptions in global FSCs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. By delving deep into the complexities of these disruptions, it seeks to uncover the key factors contributing to the vulnerability of supply chains. Employing a blend of literature review and expert opinions, the study identifies and prioritizes factors using the Fermatean Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FF-AHP). A two-level criteria framework consisting of three main criteria and eleven sub-criteria has been developed, taking into account expert recommendations and previous studies. According to the results obtained, it has been revealed that the Managerial factors within the main criteria are the most significant factors in the fragility of the FSC. Among these factors, it has been observed that Technology, Corporation, and Inventory Management are the leading criteria causing to the vulnerability of the FSC. This is the first study to investigate the vulnerabilities of FSC using fuzzy logic. The research underscores the imperative of comprehensive risk management strategies that encompass all stakeholders within the supply chain, particularly during unanticipated crises like pandemics. This paper assesses the environmental, technical, economic, and social impacts of the main energy generation technologies currently used in Mexico. The study used a life-cycle assessment and a multi-criteria decision-making method. The Analytical Hierarchy Process was employed to assess the social, technical, and economic impacts, while the life-cycle assessment examined the environmental effects. This study innovates the way of analyzing power plants since it provides a classification of these technologies considering different aspects, and the rankings can be obtained for each criterion and in a holistic way. According to the study's findings, photovoltaics and nuclear power plants are the most environmentally friendly options for Mexico. Considering the economic aspects, solar and wind energy are classified as the best technologies for the country. From a technical point of view, the best power plants are combined cycle and thermoelectric plants. The power plants most accepted by society are efficient cogeneration and turbo gas. Finally, the overall ranking from the experts' perspective for the development of Mexico shows that the best technologies are combined cycle and hydroelectric, with 14% and 12% acceptance, respectively. Today, with the increase in population, technological developments, industrialization and urbanization, problems related to waste management (WM) have become increasingly important to a sustainable and global clean environment. The gradual deterioration of the quality of environmental elements and the increase in environmental problems have caused societies to focus more on environmental problems. Waste management is a form of management that includes the prevention, non-prevention, reuse, recovery, and disposal of domestic, medical, hazardous, and non-hazardous wastes. This study aims to prioritize critical success factors (CSFs), via the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), in industrial waste management and to determine the most important critical success factor. The four main criteria and 23 sub-criteria were scored by the AHP method according to the opinions of five environmental engineers. After determining critical success factors, survey questions were prepared to make employees rank these factors. While the "national/local waste management strategies and policies" factor was the most important critical success factor according to environmental engineers, the most important critical success factor for employees was "enterprise waste management strategies and policies". Recently, there have been several advancements in the field of sustainable energy solutions, particularly in the selection of solar window film sheets. In this research, a multi-criteria decision-making approach was applied to compare three different types of window film sheets, Silver 35, TrueVue 15, and Sterling 40, to aid in selecting the most suitable window film based on the United Arab Emirates market. The primary aim of this work is to provide decision-makers with a structured approach to enhance their choices for selecting window film sheets. The methodology employed involves evaluating various criteria, including visible light transmittance, solar energy rejected, energy transmittance, energy absorptance, cost, glare reduction, visible light reflectance interior, and fade reduction. These criteria are assessed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The results demonstrate that Sterling 40 is the best choice followed by Silver 35. The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly restricted people's movement and outdoor activities, leading to boredom due to our social nature. However, in this context, public spaces in the form of green open spaces and blue open spaces emerge as potential solutions to increase immunity and public health. As we move into the postpandemic era, the importance of sustainability and the availability of public green open spaces is becoming increasingly pronounced. This study, therefore, aims to develop a management strategy for green and blue open spaces in various segments of the central Cisadane watershed in Bogor City. The methods employed include analytical hierarchy process and field surveys. The analysis results reveal that the primary function of public green open space is as a landscape aesthetic, highlighting the aesthetic value of these spaces. The upper segment focuses on the production function, while the middle and lower segments concentrate on the carbon sink and storage functions. The proposed management strategy promotes agricultural tourism and regulates the urban microclimate, offering valuable insights that are crucial for post-pandemic urban planning and will help the audience feel informed and prepared for the future. Solid biomass dominates as the primary source of cooking energy, especially in rural households of Nepal. The use of solid biomass has a detrimental effect on health, exacerbates the burden of biomass collection, and hampers access to clean energy. Understanding the factors influencing the choice of modern cooking fuels is crucial to improving energy security and resilience and easing the transition to clean fuels. This study evaluates technological choices for the transition in cooking energy from the perspective of experts working in the government, non-government, and academia sectors. A structured questionnaire survey was prepared with five criteria and nine cooking technology options. Fifty-one experts responded to the survey, and their responses were analyzed using the analytical hierarchy process. The study reveals that efficiency and capital cost are the primary criteria for selecting cooking technology. The most suitable clean cooking technology is an induction stove followed by a hot plate, while the least preferred technology is a Bayupankhi stove followed by two-pothole mud improved cooking stoves. To ensure the robustness of the method, sensitivity analysis was performed on the two primary criteria efficiency and capital cost of the cooking technology. The analysis revealed robust and consistent rankings of technologies. This study should help create a conducive environment for relevant stakeholders and policymakers to formulate and implement relevant policies and strategies to accelerate the cooking energy transition in Nepal. Known as one of the largest coconut producers in the world, Indonesia has many coconut-producing regions. One of the areas that produces 85% of coconuts is Banyumas Regency. The leading product from this area is coconut sugar. However, the number of coconut farmers in Banyumas Regency has decreased due to the high number of work accidents. The Banyumas Regency Industry and Trade Office is looking for solutions to these problems by designing safety belts and body harnesses with three alternative packages. The purpose of this research is to analyze the product based on aspects of ergonomics, durability, and economic feasibility. Measurement of ergonomic aspects based on work posture analysis, anthropometry, and usability. Meanwhile, to measure the durability aspect based on the tensile test. Economic feasibility analysis based on a comparison of the selling price of each alternative. Furthermore, determining the most optimal product package using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results showed that all products require improvement for ergonomic aspects, are able to withstand loads >400kg based on tensile tests, and have selling prices ranging from Rp350,000.00 - Rp750,000.00 for each package. Abstract Groundwater resource management and development should be done sustainably, which calls for accurate assessment based on new methods and scientific principles. There is an increasing demand for potable water supplies, to meet the woefully inadequate domestic water needs in the Batcham municipality (west of Cameroun). The dearth of knowledge on sustainable management of water resources is to blame for this predicament. As integrated methodologies are not used in groundwater exploration programs, the current problem has gotten worse. Innovative scientific principles of groundwater resource exploration are required to effectively counteract the non-rationalization of water and the problem of unacceptable failure rates in drilled water borehole development. This will improve the appropriate and sustainable use of these resources. Therefore, the goal of this research is to map groundwater potential zones by utilizing readily available datasets and remote sensing (RS), GIS, Frequency Ratios (FR), and multi-criteria analysis (AHP) techniques. The database used is made up of geological data, hydroclimatic data, well data, and satellite images. Each of the methods used is based on the study of the relationships between the factors controlling the groundwater potential. Among these factors, ten (10) were retained based on previous work; these are slope, elevation, land use, land cover, lineament density, drainage density, topographic wetness index, curvature, geology, rainfall, and the static water level. The AHP allowed, according to the user's expertise, to assign weights to each factor controlling the water potential. The FR made it possible to study the relationships linking each variable with high flow rates. The thematic layers obtained were integrated into a GIS environment to generate the groundwater potential map. Four classes of groundwater potential have been identified: bad, moderate, good, and excellent. The bad classes represent 8.32% and 11.21%; moderate 36.57% and 28.70%; good 43.55% and 38.93%; and excellent 11.56% and 21.16%, for the AHP and FR models, respectively. The overlying of wells with high flow rates on areas of excellent groundwater potential shows perfect concordance, which validated the final map. Likewise, the resulting map was validated by sensitivity curve analysis, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve from which result accuracy was obtained is 70.63% and 80.28% for the AHP method and FR method, respectively. Finally, the FR model outperformed the AHP model in terms of performance and it is possible to use these dependable models to describe groundwater potential zones in the other regions of Cameroon.

Abstract Improving the living condition of residents of Palladan and Basawa community requires access to drinking water. The main objectives of this paper are to identify suitable groundwater zones for productive drilling and to assess groundwater mineralization in the coastal aquifers of the study area. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) were used in the methodology to generate the groundwater potential map. Slope, landcover/land use, lineament density, rainfall, soil cover and drainage density were taken into account to characterize the groundwater potential zones. Weights were assigned to the various parameters and their characteristics according to their impact on groundwater recharge. The groundwater potential map was classified into five zones namely: poor, fair, moderate, good, excellent. Based on the lineament density map, the distribution of these lineaments reveals the degree of porosity or permeability in each area and, consequently, its groundwater potential. Aeromagnetic data filtering permits the construction of a structural map that illustrates various geophysical lineaments that are known to be fault systems in the research area. These faults are the main routes via which groundwater seeps into the subsurface and granitoid-type magnetic rocks intrude into the basement. The research region is badly fractured/failed and made up of four lithologic units, including the aquifer layer (clayey sands in the cracked basement) with thicknesses varying from 12–55 m, according to the vertical electrical sounding (VES) applications. According to geoelectric cross-sections, the subsurface structures are made of granitic rocks that are surrounded by normal faults that trend both NW and NE. It is believed that groundwater flows into the hard rock aquifers in the studied locations through these notable geological features, such as faults and fractures. Two phenomena are responsible for the mineralization of water: a process of interaction between water and rock; and a process of salinization resulting from natural phenomena or anthropic activities. The present study could guide hydrogeological investigations and groundwater resource management planning in the study area.

The expert assessment method underlies most decision-making methods in the technical field of activity, from the search for rational design solutions to issues of industrial safety of hazardous production facilities, which is embodied in the form of regulatory documents governing the implementation of a risk-oriented approach to problem solving in the specified areas. The subjectivity of the expert assessment method can often lead to decisions that are objectively not rational in a specific design situation. This article considers a modification of the superstructure of the criteria weight assessment level of the hierarchy analysis method based on statistical processing of a set of possible combinations of criteria priorities using the example of choosing a rational option for a belt conveyor drive system, which is a direct replacement for the expert assessment method and paired comparisons at this hierarchy level. It is shown that when taking into account the proposed modification and paired comparison at the first level of the hierarchy of clearly defined values of options within each criterion (characteristics of technical objects), the method of paired comparisons is excluded from the structure of the methodological apparatus of the hierarchy analysis method, which makes it possible to single out the obtained set of results into a separate decision-making method.

Multi-criteria methods are highly attractive tools to address the inherent complexity of evaluating problems in various scientific areas. The combination of methods such as Delphi/AHP is emerging as a robust alternative to evaluate the sustainability of renewable energy sources. In this theoretical-descriptive research, the use of the Delphi method is proposed to select criteria and sub-criteria to obtain a high level of reliability, while the AHP method is used to establish an order of preference among the alternatives analyzed. This process requires the support of a committee of experts, whose role is to identify the various biomass alternatives that can be used in the sugar industry, considering aspects related to sustainability. The selected experts have identified energy, exergy, and emergetic indicators, in which economic, environmental, and social aspects are integrated. The multi-criteria analysis shows that the V1 variant was the most satisfactory in terms of biomass sustainability, representing 45% and 53% of the overall priorities in the evaluated case studies. In addition, the sensitivity analysis under an equal-weighted scenario for both study cases evidenced that variant V1 acquired the highest score (38.17%) among all alternatives. Variant V4 achieved the second highest score (31.79%), while alternative V2 achieved only 29.04%, respectively. The integration of Delphi/AHP methods emerges as a novel tool to assess sustainability in different industries of the energy sector.

The study assesses the ecological capacity and land use planning in Alborz Province, Iran for different purposes namely irrigated agriculture, dryland farming, orchards and forestry, rangelands, residential and industrial areas, as well as conservation efforts. Key factors considered include topographic criteria (slope, slope direct, elevation), soil and land criteria (land resources, land use suitability classification, and current land use), as well as vegetation cover, erosion, climatic parameters, and water resources. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and pairwise comparisons using geographic information system (GIS) inform the ecological capacity map after weighting and combining the criterion maps. This map is then overlaid with land use maps for specific purposes, such as irrigated agriculture, dryland farming, orchards, forestry, and rangelands. From the results, slope and land resources significantly influence the desired land uses in the study area. Analysis of the land use planning map revealed that within the study area, 63,621 ha (11%) were suitable for irrigated agriculture, 66,730 ha (13%) for orchards and forestry, 79,435 ha (16%) for rangelands, 224,812 ha (44%) for conservation purposes, and 71,471 ha (14%) for residential and industrial development.

Turkey has vast agricultural lands and diverse climatic conditions, and different plant species can be cultivated. Especially, Konya province, located in the Central Anatolia Region, is an important agricultural centre in Turkey. Konya province, which has a polyculture production pattern, stands out in the production of medicinal and aromatic plants due to its favourable climatic conditions and soil structure. In Turkey, 26.33% of cumin, which is among the medicinal and aromatic plants, is produced in Konya province. This study aims to determine the factors affecting cumin production. For this purpose, 65 cumin producers determined by proportional sampling method were interviewed. The data obtained through these interviews were analysed by using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to determine the weights of the criteria affecting the cumin production decision of the agricultural enterprises. In the process of determining the criteria influencing the cumin production decision, the opinions of subject experts working in universities, public institutions and organizations and producers were taken. Among the criteria determined as yield, price, labour requirement, water requirement, ease of marketing, mechanisation, input costs, cultivation knowledge, soil structure and subsidies, the most important criterion was found to be price with 28.11%. Price criterion is followed by input cost 22.57%, water requirement 12.13%, yield 8.71%, cultivation knowledge 8.43%, subsidies 6.82%, ease of marketing 4.74%, soil structure 3.63%, mechanisation 2.54% and labour requirement 2.25%. It is thought that the solution of the mechanisation problem will make a significant contribution to cumin production as it will reduce the need for labour force.

The research subject is the application of geographic information systems (GIS) in assessing land suitability for agriculture in the Sana River Basin in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim of the research is to apply the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) in identifying suitable areas for agricultural production. Within the AHP framework, the following factors were considered: pedology, land use, elevation, slope, aridity index, and distance from rivers. The results of the suitability assessment underwent reclassification (RP) and cluster analysis processes (CAPs). It was found that very unsuitable land (1) covers an area of 0.15% (RP) or 5.83% (CAP), unsuitable land (2) covers 3.44% (RP) or 17.52% (CAP), conditionally suitable land (3) covers 32.11% or 28.47% (CAP), suitable land (4) covers 56.29% or 28.57% (CAP), and very suitable land (5) covers 7.98% (RP) or 19.59% (CAP). At the study area level, a supervised classification process was conducted to identify land use classes: meadows/pastures, water, forest, agricultural, and built-up areas. RP and CAP results were overlaid with supervised classification results to determine the amount of land used for agricultural purposes within each suitability class. It was determined that currently, for agricultural purposes, 0.04 km2 (RP) or 0.88 km2 (CAP) of very unsuitable land (1) is used, 0.41 km2 (RP) or 7.28 km2 (CAP) of unsuitable land (2), 15.75 km2 (RP) or 27.52 km2 (CAP) of conditionally suitable land (3), 185.15 km2 (RP) or 107.06 km2 (CAP) of suitable land (4), and 42.99 km2 (RP) or 101.65 km2 (CAP) of very suitable land (5). The research findings hold substantial importance in elucidating both the potential and constraints of land use practices as a vital natural resource within agriculture. They also have practical importance for relevant institutions in terms of agricultural sector development and making timely land use planning decisions for sustainable development.

Landslides have a profound impact on landscape geology, resulting in extensive devastation and loss of human lives. Mapping landslide susceptibility is crucial for effective land use planning in mountainous country like Ethiopia. This study was conducted in the upper Didessa sub-basin, southwestern parts of Ethiopia using Geographic Information System (GIS) and multi criteria evaluation (MCE) technique. This study employed a blend of primary data, encompassing field surveys and interviews with experts, as well as secondary data derived from diverse source, such as remote sensing data, digital soil maps, and geological maps. A total of eleven critical factors were employed to assess the triggers of landslides. These factors include slope, aspect, drainage density, topographic wetness index (TWI), stream power index (SPI), topographic ruggedness index (TRI), hypsometric integral, lithology, land use land cover (LULC), soil texture, and distance from roads. The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method was used to determine the significance of each indicator through pairwise comparison matrix. The study area was categorized into different zones based on the susceptibility to landslides, namely very high, high, moderate, low, and very low. Results revealed that cultivated land had the highest likelihood of experiencing landslides, with a total of nine incidents out of 25, followed by built-up areas with seven landslides. Conversely, dense forests, sparse forests, and grazing land experienced a lower likelihood of landslides. Out of the 11 factors contributing to landslides, 24% of the surveyed region was deemed to have a moderate susceptibility, with 12% and 6% falling into the categories of high and very high susceptibility to landslides, respectively. The findings of this research provide important information for policymakers to develop efficient measures for preventing and reducing the risks of landslides.

Facility location selection is a difficult and very costly task to change after the business is established, so it is a very important decision for businesses. Numerical methods help make important decisions, such as determining the region where businesses will operate for a long time. For this purpose, multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods are widely used. Some practical disadvantages of existing MCDM methods are; In cases where the number of alternatives and criteria is high, more pairwise comparison matrices are required, matrix consistency becomes more difficult, and as the number of elements in the hierarchy increases, the problem becomes more complex and causes loss of time. The aim of this study is to develop a new hybrid method for the MCDM approach, which has a simpler mathematical infrastructure, is not affected by the increasing number of criteria, and does not require an additional consistency analysis. The proposed hybrid method includes Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Standard Scoring Method (SSM) methods. The method includes a single pairwise comparison matrix of the AHP method and the simple mathematical infrastructure of the SSM method, which makes calculations based on real values and standard formulas. In the study, the hybrid method was applied and analyzed to determine the most suitable geographical region of Turkey for the facility location of companies operating in the manufacturing sector in Turkey, in the light of 6 main criteria determined by the expert team as a result of a comprehensive literature review. It has been observed that classification, ranking and selection are possible with the AHP-SSM based hybrid method, which is recommended as the MCDM method, and the most suitable geographical region for the factory location in Turkey is the Black Sea Region. The combined use of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fuzzy Inference Systems (FISs) can significantly enhance the effectiveness of transformative projects in organizations by better managing their complexities and uncertainties. This work develops a novel multicriteria model that integrates both methodologies to assist organizations in these projects. To demonstrate the value of the proposed approach, we present an illustrative example focused on the implementation of Industry 4.0 in SMEs. First, through a review of relevant literature, we identify the key barriers to improving SMEs' capability to implement Industry 4.0 effectively. Subsequently, the AHP, enhanced through Dong and Saaty's methodology, establishes a consensus-based assessment of the importance of these barriers, using the judgments of five experts. Next, a FIS is utilized, with rule bases automatically derived from the preceding weights, eliminating the need for another round of expert input. This paper shows and discusses how SMEs can use this model to self-assess their adaptability to the Industry 4.0 landscape and formulate improvement strategies to achieve deeper alignment with this transformative paradigm. Singaraja, ibukota Kabupaten Buleleng, Bali, memiliki kondisi geografis dataran rendah sempit dan berbukit yang berpotensi mengakibatkan bencana seperti banjir/banjir bandang dan tanah longsor. Sebagai upaya mitigasi dan pengendalian banjir diperlukan pemetaan potensi rawan bencana untuk menjadi dasar penentuan arah kebijakan dalam pembangunan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan daerah rawan dengan memanfaatkan Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) dengan tiga pembeda yaitu (1) penggunaan lahan, (2) kelerengan, dan (3) curah hujan. Data curah hujan dari periode 2018-2022 dikumpulkan dari 5 stasiun/pos pantau milik BMKG. Dari Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) diperoleh bobot untuk penggunaan lahan adalah 0,2358, bobot kelerangan sebesar 0,4928, dan bobot pada curah hujan 0,2713. Analisis dengan metode Overlay Intersection pada ArcGIS 10.8 menunjukkan 5,3 km2 (11,9 % wilayah) merupakan area paling rawan banjir, sementara area paling aman seluas 4,06 km2. Hasil pemetaan ini sesuai dengan laporan kejadian banjir ekstrem yang pernah terjadi pada tahun 2018 dan 2021 di daerah-daerah tersebut.

Individual investors exhibiting irrational behaviors may encounter a difficult situation in financial markets. Investor trends, also known as behavioral trends, have been introduced under different headlines in different studies. Overconfidence, representation, anchoring, regret aversion, and herding were included in the research study. In this study, it was aimed to determine the order of importance of investor biases of individual investors trading in Borsa Istanbul. For this purpose, a survey questionnaire was applied to individual investors trading in BIST. Analytical Hierarchy Process was utilized in testing the research model. A total of 411 participants contributed to the study. As a result of the study, regret aversion bias and overconfidence bias were the leading biases to which individual investors attached importance. However, the criterion (C41) “I feel sorrow for the long-losing stocks I hold.” was found to rank highest among all sub-criteria. This sub-criterion is part of regret aversion bias. Regret aversion bias was also the main criterion ranking highest among all criteria. Upon considering the other sub-criteria of regret aversion bias; C42, C43, and C44 sub-criteria were found to rank second, fourth, and eleventh, respectively. C12 criterion, which ranked third, was seen to belong to overconfidence bias, and this bias ranked second among the main criteria. This research would contribute to a better comprehension of the behavioral biases that affect the decision-making of individual investors trading in BIST. The obtained results of the study are thought to contribute to the behavioral finance literature.

Facility location selection and internal layout planning are critical strategic decisions for long-term sustainability. This study identified the most feasible location and optimal layout for a commercial bedroom furniture manufacturing facility through a seven-phase evaluation of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, and Bursa. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and PROMETHEE were used for city and district selection, with AHP calculating criteria weights and PROMETHEE ranking alternatives. The Borda Count Method aggregated MCDM results, selecting Istanbul as the optimal city and Dudullu Organized Industrial Zone (O.I.Z.) as the most favorable district. The CORELAP method developed an optimal single-story layout for a 2688 m² production and assembly facility, enhancing production flow, reducing material handling costs, and improving efficiency. These findings underscore the importance of strategic facility location and layout planning in improving the furniture industry’s competitiveness and sustainability. The practical implications of this research are significant, as the findings can be directly applied to improve the competitiveness of the furniture industry. The study offers a comprehensive framework for strategic decision-making, providing valuable insights and a systematic approach applicable to similar problems in various sectors.

Prawn crackers hold a significant position within Indonesia's agro-industrial product landscape. The industrial process involved in their production is fraught with potential risks that could result in substantial losses for companies. PT. XYZ, a prominent prawn cracker producer in Indonesia, grapples with various risks, including non-compliant raw material supplies, machinery and equipment breakdowns, product defects, and process failures. Hence, there is an imperative need for comprehensive risk management involving further analysis, identification of potential failure modes, and formulation of mitigation strategies to curb losses. This research aims to ascertain the priority of potential failure modes and their corresponding mitigation strategies in the prawn cracker production process at PT. XYZ. The study employs risk analysis through the Fuzzy Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (Fuzzy-FMEA) method and determines mitigation strategies using the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (Fuzzy-AHP) method. The findings reveal 11 identified failure modes in PT. XYZ's prawn cracker production process, with machinery and equipment damage emerging as the top-priority failure mode, giving a Fuzzy Risk Priority Number (FRPN) value of 7.620. The recommended mitigation strategy involves intensifying inspections of production machinery and equipment, both before and after use by workers, with a weight of 0.368.

Female-based urban poverty has been a widely researched topic fitting into the pursuit of gender equality since the Beijing 1995 Conference for Women. However, the criteria for measuring female-based urban poverty assume a direct role in reducing various urban poverty manifestations amongst females. Nevertheless, standard domains such as economic and educational statuses show some noticeable characteristics in smaller townships located in the low-urbanised states of India. The city under concern — Sehore Municipal Council (M.C. hereafter) — furnishes an example of an emerging urban area in a low-urbanised state of Madhya Pradesh (27.6% of the urban population compared to the national average of 31.16%) where domain-wise spatial manifestations of female-based urban poverty are noticeable. In addition to the financial aspect of urban poverty, the study attempts to identify local area determinants related to the socio-economic and the cultural environment of Sehore M.C., using standard variables and indicators for the spatial manifestation of female-based urban poverty through a GIS-based multi-criteria decision-making technique of the analytical hierarchy process (AHP). Female-based urban poverty in Sehore M.C., lying within the urban sphere of influence of two metro cities of Bhopal and Indore, is analysed across six domains of economic, educational, social, health, lack of decision-making and time poverty, for 17 selected localities across four wards. Out of the six selected domains, the economic poverty domain turns out to be the strongest, while time poverty is the least dominant. The present model of female-based urban poverty may apply to similar newly urbanising areas falling within the ambit of metro cities in India.

Abstract In light of population growth and climate change, groundwater is one of the most important water resources globally. Groundwater is crucial for sustaining many vital sectors in Syria, including industrial and agricultural sectors. However, groundwater exploitation has significantly escalated to meet different water needs especially in the post-war period and the earthquake disaster. Therefore, the goal was this study delineation of the groundwater potential zones (GPZs) by integrating the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method in a geographic information systems (GIS) within the AlAlqerdaha river basin in western Syria. In this study, ten criteria were used to map the spatial distribution of GPZs, including slope, geomorphology, drainage density, land use/land cover (LU/LC), lineament density, lithology, rainfall, soil, curvature and topographic wetness index (TWI). GPZs map was validated by using the location of 74 wells and the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (ROC). The findings suggest that the study area is divided into five GPZs: very low, 21.39 km2 (10.87%); low, 52.45 km2 (26.65%); moderate, 65.64 km2 (33.35%); high, 40.45 km2 (20.55%) and very high, 16.90 km2 (8.58%). High and very high zones mainly corresponded to the western regions of the study area. The conducted spatial modeling indicated that the AHP-based GPZs map showed a remarkably acceptable correlation with wells locations (AUC = 87.7%, n = 74), demonstrating the precision of the AHP–GIS as a rating method. The results of this study provide objective and constructive outputs that can help decision-makers to optimally manage groundwater resources in the post-war phase in Syria.

Abstract Grasslands are crucial ecosystems that provide numerous ecological services and support biodiversity conservation. Grasslands undergo significant threats from both anthropogenic and natural sources, compromising their ability to maintain biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human well-being. However, grasslands are frequently ignored in sustainable development objectives. Adequate knowledge of how grassland degradation affects ecosystem services is essential for sustainable management and grassland ecological restoration. The Kachchh region in western India harbours a unique grassland ecosystem known as the Banni grassland, which once became the finest grassland in Asia. However, undesirable anthropogenic interventions have accelerated its degradation. This research paper aims to assess the suitability of different land areas in Banni for sustainable grassland restoration, considering ecological value as a primary criterion. In the present research, land suitability for grassland management was assessed using a geographical information system (GIS)-based multi criteria evolution (MCE) method with satellite data and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The ground truthing of the soil samples was carried out alongside. Slope, rainfall, infiltration rate, LULC, geomorphology, soil texture, soil organic carbon, water holding capacity, SAR, CEC, pH, EC, and soil nutrients were among the criteria used. The weights for each criterion were calculated using a pairwise comparison matrix, and the scores were allocated to sub criteria based on field work, expert opinions, and a literature review. The proposed method can be very useful for evaluating the state of the land and can help with the best possible planning for grassland development and conservation. Banni grassland has the potential to be developed into a critical zone observatory (CZO) in the future, and the present study, with further inputs, holds promise for furthering the cause of its sustainable management. Overall, this study underscores the importance of assessing land suitability for sustainable grassland management and highlights the potential for maximising the ecological value of grasslands in western India and beyond.

In arid regions with growing water needs due to growing populations and agriculture, heightened by climate change, groundwater arises as a crucial asset. This research evaluates climate change influence on groundwater potential zones (GPZs) during 2000 and 2014, within the Mostaganem plateau's alluvial aquifer in Algeria, using a methodology that integrates analytical hierarchy process (AHP), remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS). Forecasts for 2030 and 2050 were conducted using the QGIS MOLUSCE plugin. Findings reveal a (30.29%) decrease in zones of moderate potential, the vanishing of high potential sectors, alongside a (7.53%) and a (22.1%) rise in fair potential and low potential, respectively, from 2000 to 2014. Between 2014 and 2030, fair and moderate potential decrease by 6.62% and 0.48%, while low potential zones see a 7.47% increase. These shifts are linked to changes in rainfall, distribution, and land use land cover (LULC), notably intensive agriculture of herbaceous crops. Slight changes are anticipated between 2030 and 2050, possibly due to the onset of a resilience equilibrium from 2030 onwards. These findings are crucial as a preliminary investigation, highlighting the necessity of optimal groundwater management.

This article aims to produce a groundwater potential zone (GWPZ) map of the Nyong basin using an integrated analytical hierarchy process driven in a geographic information system (GIS) environment. For this, seven parameters (rainfall, geology, slopes, drainage density, land use and land cover, lineament density, and soil) known to influence the availability of groundwater were considered. The results obtained show that the Eastern part of the basin holds the largest quantities of groundwater. The produced map shows that this region includes high and very high GWPZs (yield > 6 l/s). It is essentially characterized by abundant rainfall (on average 135–136 and 131–134 mm), low slopes, significant drainage and lineament densities, and significant forest cover. On the other hand, the opposite region (west), which includes the low and very low GWPZs, is characterized by less abundant precipitation (on average 121–125 and 125–128 mm), significant slopes, lower drainage and lineament densities, and greater impervious areas. With a success rate of 80%, confidence deserves to be placed in the GWPZs map produced. It can be considered in water supply projects in this basin. Such work has never been done in this basin before. HIGHLIGHTS Groundwater potential zones in equatorial are addressed using the analytical hierarchy process.; Rainfall forecast in the equatorial area is addressed.; The model for which rainfall seems the most reliable is addressed.;

Site selection is one of the main activities in technical system planning to achieve the best design and location of the power plant. Improper site selection methods tend to increase the construction cost, create difficulties in securing primary energy sources, and cause inefficient electricity distribution. The earlier civil site selection process using the scoring method adopted by several utility companies still had some disadvantages that required improvement. This study aimed to propose and test a civil site selection method based on the economic Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) that combines Geographical Information System (GIS), Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Value Based Decision (VBD) simultaneously and based on the collaborative assessment of several engineers. The study investigated Kupang GEPP 40 MW with five alternative locations using the Expert Choice 11 tool to determine the weight of the criteria, alternative locations rating, and the weight of the cost estimate based on GIS data. The analysis revealed that only alternative 1 and alternative 5 are considered feasible. Alternative 5, Panaf, emerges as the most favorable site for Kupang GEPP with a value of 7.087. Further research has been suggested to include more detailed data for site selection.
