Among substances, opiates and psychostimulants are responsible for the most significant public health problems, yet few studies have characterized their similarities or differences in the cortical plasticity of individuals with these substance related problems. This investigation utilized concurrent transcranial magnetic stimulation and electroencephalography (TMS-EEG) to examine cortical plasticity characteristics of individuals with heroin and methamphetamine related substance use disorder (SUD) relative to healthy controls. TMS-EEG data were collected from healthy control subjects (N = 35), subjects with heroin (N = 72) and methamphetamine (N = 69) use disorder. The data were analyzed using our fully-automated artifact rejection algorithm (ARTIST). Analyses were performed separately for F3, F4 and P3 stimulation sites. Linear mixed effects models were used to examine Group (heroin, methamphetamine, healthy control) x Time (pre, post single-session rTMS) interactions. To evaluate plasticity differences across groups, we observed the changes in single pulse TMS before and after single-session of rTMS. There was no change in alpha power after stimulation of the F3 or F4 sites across groups. The alpha power of the control group was significantly decreased when stimulating the P3 site, while there was no significant change in alpha power for either drug group during the same time window. The beta power of the healthy control group increased significantly when the F3 site was stimulated. In contrast, there was no significant change in either the methamphetamine or heroin group. Following a single-session of rTMS intervention, there was a significant difference in alpha-band power between the healthy control group and the two drug groups. Taking together, the study findings identified differential plasticity effects in the two types of SUD population, and highlighted the network effects of rTMS. The findings point to an exciting future path for using rTMS to test new plasticity-based interventions for treating drug addiction.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are extensively utilized in the treatment of oncological patients, and the immune-related adverse reactions they induce merit close monitoring. This report describes a case of a lung cancer patient who, after receiving chemotherapy in combination with the programmed death-1 (PD-1) inhibitor sintilimab, presented with systemic fatigue, alterations in mental and behavioral patterns, somnolence, and symptoms of diabetes insipidus, leading to a diagnosis of grade 4 immune-related hypophysitis. The patient experienced symptomatic relief following pulse therapy with dexamethasone sodium phosphate injections (30mg every 12 hours), and was subsequently treated with prednisone acetate tablets (30 mg/day), which were gradually reduced to a physiological replacement dose. The treatment with sintilimab was discontinued, and the patient’s symptoms gradually improved, with normalization of urine output.

Accurately estimating the state of charge (SOC) of lithium-ion batteries is of great significance for extending battery lifespan and enhancing the efficiency of energy management. Regarding the issue of the relatively low estimation accuracy of SOC by the backpropagation neural network (BPNN), an enhanced dung beetle optimizer (DBO) algorithm is proposed to optimize the initial weights and thresholds of the BPNN. This overcomes the drawback of a single BP neural network being prone to local optimum and accelerates the convergence rate. Simulation analyses on the experimental data of NCM and A123 lithium batteries were conducted in Matlab R2022a. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm in this paper has an average SOC estimation error of less than 1.6% and a maximum error within 2.9%, demonstrating relatively high estimation accuracy and robustness, and it holds certain theoretical research significance.

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) bars have become increasingly popular, while the studies on durability of FRP bars are primarily on small-diameter FRP bars. This study investigated the tensile strength retention in glass FRP (GFRP) bars of different diameters (13 mm and 25 mm) after immersion in an alkaline solution (pH=12.6) at various temperatures (20 °C, 40 °C and 60 °C) for 1, 2, 3, and 6 months. The results reveal that the degradation of GFRP bars was slow at 20 °C, accelerated but not pronounced at 40 °C and considerable at 60 °C. Particularly, the 13 mm diameter GFRP bars exhibited a more significant reduction in tensile strength, with a decrease of 20.12 % after 6 months, while the 25 mm diameter bars only decreased by 13.23 %. Results reveal that, importantly, degradation of GFRP bars is primarily attributed to the diffusion of the moisture and alkalis, which disrupts the bond between the fibers and the matrix, causing interface damage. Finally, based on the Arrhenius theory, it is predicted that the tensile strength retention of 13 mm and 25 mm diameter GFRP bars will be 66.4 % and 79.8 %, respectively, after 50 years of exposure at an average annual temperature of 35 °C. The important finding that the small-diameter FRP bars are more vulnerable to the alkaline exposure than larger diameter bars suggests that the current studies on durability of FRP bars are conservative to be referred in practice.

Liuzhou river snail rice noodle is a local characteristic food of Liuzhou with fresh, spicy, sour and “smelly”. With the rapid development of pre-packaged river snail rice noodle, the concerns such as unstable quality and inconsistent standards have begun to emerge. The quality and unique flavor of Liuzhou river snail rice noodle are closely related to the flavor substances of its raw materials. The detection and analysis of its flavor substances is one of the key factors to measure the quality of river snail rice noodle. In this paper, based on the features of flavor substances of raw materials such as snails, sour bamboo shoots and chili oil in Liuzhou snail powder, the sources of its flavor substances were reviewed mainly according to the current research on river snail rice noodle and the related techniques of flavor substances detection. The effects of flavor substances of raw materials and excipients were systematically expounded. The development prospect of common detection techniques of flavor substances in the analysis of flavor substances and the key flavor substances of raw materials and excipients were further reviewed. The disadvantages of the research on the flavor substances of were pointed out, and the future research direction of its flavor substances was put forward, aming to provide theoretical support for the improvement, standardization and development of new products of Liuzhou river snail rice noodle.

The primary causes of satellite breakups are hypervelocity impact and explosion, the research on satellite breakup can be used not only to evaluate the influence of breakup event on the space environment, but also to trace whether the satellite has been deliberately attacked. It is of great significance in both civil and military aspects. The study of satellite breakup behaviors and model is reviewed to summarize the research progress and insufficiency in recent decades, including the satellite breakup experiment, measurement and characterization of fragments, distribution characteristics of breakup fragments, satellite breakup model, etc. The classical studies are introduced in detail, and the limitations of the current research are pointed out. According to the current research results, the contemporary challenges and future directions for satellite breakup study are presented. The research on satellite breakup is developing in two directions: the miniaturization of satellite size and the complexity of satellite component. The study on satellite breakup needs to be explored and deepened on improving the experimental launch speed, expanding the model application range and breakup revealing the results under combined effect of impact and explosion.

Monitoring hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in living organisms is very important because H2S acts as a regulator in many physiological and pathological processes. Upregulation of endogenous H2S concentration has been shown to be closely related to the occurrence and development of tumors, atherosclerosis, neurodegenerative diseases and diabetes. Herin, a novel fluorescent probe HND with aggregation-induced emission was designed. Impressively, HND exhibited a high selectivity, fast response (1 min) and low detection limit (0.61 μM) for H2S in PBS buffer (10 mM, pH = 7.42). Moreover, the reaction mechanism between HND and H2S was conducted by Job’s plot, HR-MS, and DFT. In particular, HND was successfully employed to detect H2S in HeLa cells.
