From July 2013 to November 2014, this research was conducted to secure baseline data to find long-term preventive measures against epidemics from the analysis of home range and movement characteristics of raccoon dogs, which are known as carriers of zoonosis. Researchers conducted a follow-up study with 12 raccoon dogs, each attached with a Global Positioning System mobile transmitter. Analysis of home range used the minimum convex polygon (MCP) method and kernel density estimation (KDE) with accumulating data of time-based locations. Except for three animals that showed unique behavior, the researchers analyzed nine animals and calculated their average home range. As a result, average home range was 0.48 ± 0.35 km2 (MCP method), and KDE result analysis was verified as 0.65 ± 0.66 km2 (95%), 0.31 ± 0.35 km2 (75%), and 0.23 ± 0.28 km2 (50%). Based on the MCP method, acted in range of minimum 0.07 km2 and maximum 1.08 km2, and the core habitat, KDE 50% level showed activity range in 0.02 km2 to 0.37 km2. Three individuals of unique behavior were classified into two types. Two individuals moved 10–20 km and settled at a place different from the existing habitat, and one individual kept moving without a regular sphere of influence. Generally, raccoon dogs are not considered to move if they secure their area of influence; animals in urban areas have a wider area of influence than those living in areas with a rich source of food such as forest and agricultural land.

In multi-resonant Tonpilz longitudinal vibrating piezoelectric transducers with a clamped bolt of which both ends are screwed directly into their head mass and tail mass, the influence of a radial gap between clamped bolt and transducer’s component elements on the transducer’s wide-band characteristic was illustrated through detailed qualitative and simulation analysis. In order to verify the validity of analysis, samples of triple resonant Tonpilz longitudinal vibrating piezoelectric transducer was fabricated and measured in both cases that there exists a radial gap between clamped bolt and their elements and there never exists. The 1st intrinsic longitudinal mode created due to the radial gap between clamped bolt and transducer’s component elements is coupled with longitudinal modes of the transducer to affect several characteristics of transducer including wide-band. Therefore, it was recommended that design and fabrication should be taken not to be created preferably a radial gap between clamped bolt and transducer’s component elements in multi-resonant Tonpilz longitudinal resonant piezoelectric transducer.

A systematic investigation has been carried out to determine both the γ liquidus and solidus surfaces above the Ni solid solution in the Ni-Al-X ternary phase diagrams successively by differential thermal analysis. Each of the group IV elements in the periodic table, Ti, Zr, and Hf, was chosen as the ternary additive X in the present study. As a basis, γ liquidus and solidus temperatures in the Ni-Al binary system were reinvestigated and evaluated. The γ solvus was also taken into account to determine a temperature range for a solid-solution treatment above the γ solvus, generally called “the window,” as well as the maximum solubility limit of γNi solid solution.

An attempt has been made to determine the γ/γ′ phase boundaries with particular emphasis on the γ′ solvus in ternary Ni-Al-X systems with X being one of the VA or VIA transition metal elements. It is shown that the γ′ solvus in each ternary system can be obtained as a surface with respect to composition and temperature by employing differential thermal analysis (DTA) as a key experimental technique with support from energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy combined with scanning elecron microscope(SEM-EDX). Also shown is that the DTA results often provide useful information on the phase relation in the vicinity of γ and γ′ phase fields. In the Ni-Al-V ternary system, for example, the pseudo-binary constitution between Ni3Al and Ni3V is suggested. The results presented here are systematic and consistent and therefore are reliable as compared with the previous results reported fragmentarily.
