Objective To investigate the changes in G protein-coupled receptor 124 (Gpr124) expression in human retinal microvascular endothelial cells (HRMEC) under high-glucose condition and the regulatory effect of Gpr124 interference on HRMEC. Methods Immunofluorescence assay was used to observe the expression of Gpr124 in HRMEC. The cells were divided into a blank group and a high glucose group. CCK-8 assay and EdU cell proliferation assay were used to detect cell viability and proliferation, respectively. The Gpr124 expression was knocked down by transducting lentiviral virus carrying shRNA targeting Gpr124. Thus, the cells were divided into a blank control group, a high glucose control group, a high glucose+shRNA group, and a high glucose+Gpr124 shRNA group. Cell scratch test was performed to evaluate cell migration, and Matrigel plug assay was employed to assess the cell tubule formation. Western blotting was applied to detect the protein levels of Gpr124, VEGFA, MMP9, and β-catenin. Abstract The electrode played an essential role in the operation of CW-MFC system due to its synergistic effect, and the development of electrode strategy has promoted the application of CW-MFC since 2012. In this paper, according to the material and the quantity, the electrode types in CW-MFC were distinctly divided into unified model, composited model, modified model, and multi-electrodes model combined with non-conductive or conductive particle. Different electrode strategies were provided to improve the performance of CW-MFC towards electricity generation, removal of pollutants, and control of greenhouse gas emission, and the coordination mechanism was further reviewed. Furthermore, the development process of the electrode strategy was summarized, and the low-cost, sustainable, and innovated electrode materials were emphatically recommended. For the scale-up application, multi-electrode model was systematically reviewed based on the optimizing of the material, shape, spacing distance, and connection type of electrode. This review may provide guidance to maximize the advantages of CW-MFC applications. Graphical Abstract

6061-T6 aluminum alloy plate (3 × 150 × 300 mm3) was welded by tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding. The welding process methods are single-pass welding process and full welding process respectively. The effects of different welding processes on the performance of TIG welding 6061-T6 aluminum alloy were compared and studied. The effects of microstructure and precipitation on the microhardness and tensile strength were analyzed by optical microscope, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) characterization, electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD) characterization, microhardness and tensile test. The microstructure of the weld zone is mainly composed of aluminum solid solution (α-Al) dendritic structure and Al–Si eutectic structure. Through EBSD characterization analysis, the average grain size of the weld zone of the full welding process and the single-pass welding process is about 45 μm and 55 μm, and the grain size of the heat-affected zone and the weld zone of the two welded joints does not change significantly. The hardness curves of the two welded joints have the same distribution trend, which is roughly 'W' type distribution. In the tensile test, the tensile strength of the single pass welding process is lower than that of the full welding process, and the fracture of the tensile parts is dimple structure, which is ductile fracture. Through analysis and comparative study, the full welding process is better than the single-pass welding process when welding 6061-T6 aluminum alloy sheet.

Purpose: To explore the effect of the variation of pupil diameter (PD) and intraocular pressure (IOP) induced by femtosecond laser treatment on the subsequent phacoemulsfication and intraocular lens implantation. And whether the application of 0.1% pranoprofen could significantly reduce the miosis and increased IOP caused by femtosecond laser treatment in femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). Methods: In this study, patients were pretreated with (trial group) or without (control group) topical 0.1% pranoprofen. The PD and IOP were measured at different time points within 30 ​min after the completion of the femtosecond laser treatment. Results: The comparisons of the two groups showed the PD of patients pretreated with 0.1% pranoprofen was significantly larger than that of the control only at 15 ​min after FLACS (P ​= ​0.046), and there was no significant difference in IOP at any time point (P ​> ​0.05). Neither the ratio of significant miosis (PD ​≤ ​5 ​mm) nor intraocular hypertension (IOP ≥30 ​mmHg) was significantly different between the control group (1.72%, 6.67%) and the trial group (1%, 4.17%) (P ​> ​0.05). Conclusions: The PD and IOP of patients undergoing FLACS showed fluctuations within a small range. The rates of significant miosis and intraocular hypertension are very low, it is safe for surgeons to complete the follow-up procedures within 30 ​min after femtosecond laser treatment. Pretreatment with 0.1% pranoprofen exerted a slight, albeit significant prophylactic effect preventing pupil miosis. However, it provided only a limited benefit in patients undergoing FLACS without other complications.

Abstract Background Cherry-red spots are a very important sign for the clinical diagnosis of central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO). We retrospectively summarized the clinical manifestations of CRAO and analysed the causes and characteristics of CRAO without cherry-red spots. In this study, we explored a diagnostic method for CRAO without cherry red spots. Methods Seventy patients (70 eyes) with CRAO were examined retrospectively. Corrected distance visual acuity, fundus photos, FA and OCT images were collected at the first outpatient visit. The causes of CRAO without cherry-red spots were analysed through fundus photos. The incidence of increased hyperreflectivity of the inner retina, central macular thickness (CMT) and arteriovenous transit time in patients with and without cherry-red spots were compared. Results Fundus examination showed posterior retinal whitening in 57 cases (81.43%) and cherry-red spots in 39 cases (55.71%). Thirty-one patients presented at the first outpatient visit without cherry-red spots. The reasons for the absence of cherry-red spots included leopard fundus (32.26%), retinal vein occlusion (25.81%), no obvious inner retinal coagulative necrosis (19.35%), ciliary retinal artery sparing (12.90%), high macular oedema (9.68%) and cherry-red spot enlargement (3.23%). OCT revealed increased hyperreflectivity of the inner retina in 67 CRAO patients (95.71%). All 3 patients without increased hyperreflectivity of the inner retina did not present with cherry-red spots at the first visit. The median CMT in patients without cherry-red spots was 166.00 μm, while the median MCT in patients with cherry-red spots was 180.00 μm; there was no significant difference between these two groups (P = 0.467). FA showed delayed arteriovenous transit time > 23 s in 20 patients (28.57%), > 15 s in 43 patients (61.43%) and no delay in 27 patients (30.77%). The median arteriovenous transit time in patients without cherry-red spots was 19.00 s, while it was 18.00 s in patients with cherry-red spots; there was no significant difference between these two groups (P = 0.727). Conclusions There are multiple factors that could cause the absence of cherry-red spots in CRAO. The use of OCT to observe increased hyperreflectivity of the inner retina is the most effective imaging method for the early diagnosis of CRAO without cherry-red spots.

This work primarily focuses on a three-dimensional model of flame propagation and stable combustion in a scramjet chamber. The one-equation LES turbulence model is adopted to close the sub-grid-scale turbulent viscosity terms. The finite-rate combustion model, along with the Jachimowski detailed hydrogen reaction mechanism with eight components and nineteen steps, is used to analyze the flame propagation characteristics of hydrogen combustion in the scramjet combustion chamber. Initially, based on the combustion chamber model, the effect of different injection locations and equivalence ratios on flame kernel formation and the flame propagation process is analyzed. The relationship between different fuel injection conditions and the oxygen consumption rate of the combustion chamber, as well as the total pressure recovery coefficient changes, is investigated. The research focuses on changes in equivalence ratios and injection hole distributions, with injection holes arranged upstream, downstream, and inside of the cavity. The result indicated that when the injection holes were arranged downstream of the cavity, there was a phenomenon of flame backflow into the cavity, which was related to the size of the injection pressure. For this work, the pressure causing flame backflow was approximately 2 MPa. When the injection hole was arranged inside the cavity, the relative distance difference between the injection hole and the upper wall of the cavity led to the formation of two reaction zones in the combustion chamber. When the injection hole was arranged upstream of the cavity, different injection equivalence ratios affected the final stable position and structure of the flame. Therefore, the injection position, injection pressure, and injection equivalence ratio all had a certain impact on the flame kernel formation and flame propagation process.

The static lighting condition (SLC) in confined spaces may pose great challenges to the health of long-stay workers, inducing sleep disorders, cognitive decline, and negative emotions such as depression or anxiety. To explore human responses to the SLC (300 lx and 6000 K), 20 young subjects (22.6 ± 1.88 years old) were recruited in the underground confined lab for a week by measuring melatonin, core body temperature (CBT), subjective alertness (KSS score), sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, PSQI), Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). The results showed a posterior shift in circadian rhythm after 1 week of confinement, with 0.62 h delay of dim light melatonin onset (DLMO), higher melatonin concentrations in the evening, lower melatonin concentrations at midnight, a day-by-day increase in KSS and CBT at bedtime, but this decreased daily when waking up, with cumulative effects. There was a progressive increase in sleep latency, PSQI scores, response time and scores of subjective emotion scales, meaning worse sleep, performance and emotional state. Due to limited exposure to high-lighting stimuli during the daytime, the initial concentrations of melatonin increased in the evening and decreased before sleep. In confined spaces, active health interventions by dynamic lighting patterns were proposed to safeguard human health and performance.

Abstract Background To develop a model for predicting the risk of visual impairment in diabetic retinopathy (DR) by a nomogram. Methods Patients with DR who underwent both optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) were retrospectively enrolled. FFA was conducted for DR staging, swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) of the macula and 3*3-mm blood flow imaging by OCTA to observe retinal structure and blood flow parameters. We defined a logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution visual acuity (LogMAR VA) ≥0.5 as visual impairment, and the characteristics correlated with VA were screened using binary logistic regression. The selected factors were then entered into a multivariate binary stepwise regression, and a nomogram was developed to predict visual impairment risk. Finally, the model was validated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC), calibration plots, decision curve analysis (DCA), and clinical impact curve (CIC). Results A total of 29 parameters were included in the analysis, and 13 characteristics were used to develop a nomogram model. Finally, diabetic macular ischaemia (DMI) grading, disorganization of the retinal inner layers (DRIL), outer layer disruption, and the vessel density of choriocapillaris layer inferior (SubVD) were found to be statistically significant (P
