Roadkill is a global conservation problem, and India is no exception. Animal-vehicle accidents on roads are a leading cause of death for a variety of animal species both within and near protected areas. However, roadkills are rarely documented due to field limitations and the unavailability of dedicated IT platforms. The lack of documentation and unavailability of traffic fatality data pose major limitations for government agencies and conservationists. In 2018, as part of a citizen science program to collect opportunistic data, we launched a free "ArRM" mobile app and website, www.arrm.org.in. In 2022, we conducted a systematic random survey of 10,500 km covering the entire road network in Amravati district, Maharashtra, India. Through citizen science and our efforts, 364 roadkills (336 wild, 28 domestic) from 70 species were recorded. Our project aims to overcome the non-documentation of roadkills in the Amravati district and provide data on an interactive map that is freely accessible in the public domain. This will help wildlife authorities, conservationists, and policymakers plan or implement effective measures to reduce the number of wildlife killed on roads.

Plants have been exposed to the urban environment for many years, and in response to air pollution, they have adopted selective and adaptive changes. In this study, we examined Datura pollen deposition on the stigma for germination and also assessed the viability of the pollen along with its element and protein content. According to the hypothesis that pollen physiology is negatively impacted by air pollutants, we expected a highly polluted area to have a high degree of pollen abortion with low amount of total protein content with accumulation of different elements because the high amount of particulate pollutants deposited on pollen should alter its physiology. We found that pollen viability at all three different locations is significantly similar, while pollen germination is significantly affected by pollution in Amravati City. The protein content in pollen and its shape is also affected. Correlation analysis reveals the interrelationship between pollen viability, germination, elements and protein content with respect to the polluted area. Principal component analysis was used to determine pollen characteristics contributing to discriminate at the three locations studied. Results revealed that Datura is adaptive in nature. Further study is needed to evaluate the adaptive evolution of Datura with respect to pollen tube sensitivity and tolerance to environmental pollution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present study was carried out to assess the planktonic diversity and seasonal variations in the physic-chemical characteristics of Pohra, Wadali and Chhatri surface water reservoirs around Amravati during June 2014 to May 2015. During the course of study the zooplankton in the reservoir under investigation is represented by five major groups i.e. Ostracoda, Rotifera, Cladocera, Protozoa and Copepoda. Among phytoplankton a total of 28 algal species were recorded from all the reservoirs under study with 14 taxa from Chlorophyceae, 9 taxa from Bacillariophyceae and 8 from Cyanophyceae. The Chhatri reservoir was found to contain most of the pollution indicator species. Wadali reservoir also exhibited few pollution tolerant species. The water in all the reservoirs was found to be eutrophic in the order of Pohra > Wadali > Chhatri.

The renewable sources of energy are of utmost importance in context of the increasing energy demands. The sun energy available in abundance can be utilized effectively subjected to the availability of data on solar radiation flux, which remains the major concern. Solar radiation measurements are not economically feasible, requires maintenance and thus estimation of solar radiation flux data for utilization of solar irradiance plays vital role. For designing of any solar power systems, global solar radiation flux values are vital variables as solar energy generation depends on amount of solar radiation flux. Solar radiation flux is estimated to evaluate the workability of solar energy at Amravati, Maharashtra, India (20.9374 oN, 77.7796 oE). Solar radiation flux calculation is carried out for one year using MATLAB.

The study presents the scientometric profile of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University (SGBAU), Amravati during 1996-2017. The required research output for the study has been pulled out from SCOPUS database on the basis of affiliation based search. The complete research output is 1130 with 10.65 per cent average citations per paper. 83.98 per cent papers were published during the year 2007 to 2017 which is highly productive block compared to 16.02 per cent research output during 1996 to 2006. The highest H-index (17) was found in the year 2009. 20.08 per cent documents were produced though international collaboration. SGBAU, Amravati has the largest collaboration with Brazil (69) and United States (21). Authorship pattern predicts collaborative trend. Maximum 370 papers were written by two author, however research papers produced with three author have got the maximum 4444 citations for their 315 paper. Collaborative authorship pattern has received maximum citations (89.17 %). Average degree of collaboration is 0.96 while the average modified collaborative coefficient is 0.6289. 839 Journal and 174 Conference papers are the most popular source types preferred by the faculty of SGBAU for research expression. Mahendra Rai (209), S. K. Omnwar (143) and Anand S. Aswar (94) are the most prolific authors. It is noteworthy that Alka P. Yadav has got 3073 citations for her 17 paper. Most of the articles are published in the domain of Physics and Astronomy (356) followed by Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Biochemistry-Genetics-Molecular Biology and Computer Science. With regard to institutional collaboration, the faculty members of the SGBAU have confined themselves to the Maharashtra state most of the time. The frequency and co-occurrence of keywords denotes the core research areas in multitude subject fields in which the faculty members are engaged with. The objectives of the present study were to explore the Odonata (Class Insecta, phylum Arthopoda) fauna at Chatri Lake region. Odonata fauna of the Chatri Lake region was investigated. Total 22 species of dragonflies and damselflies belonging to four families were recorded. In our study the most abundant family was Lebellulidae followed by coenogrionidae, while family gomphidae and Platycenemididae was least abundant. Lebellulidae family represents 11 species; coenogrionidae represents 8 species while gomphidae and Platycenemididae represents two and one species respectively.
