The aim of this work was the investigation of the effect of wastewater generated from the poultry meat industry on the irrigation of olive trees, during a short time period, in order to evaluate its impact on pomological criteria and olive oil quality. Olive trees were subjected to irrigation with different water qualities: (i) poultry wastewater (PWW), (ii) poultry wastewater diluted with tap water 50:50 (v/v) (PWTWW), (iii) rain-fed cultivation system (control). The results showed that PWTWW contains the optimal mineral proportions, leading to improved pomological criteria. However, the highest significant pulp oil content was obtained using poultry wastewater irrigation (69.51%), while this was 66.71% using diluted poultry wastewater, and 58.03 % for the control. Poultry wastewater irrigation yielded the best results in oil standard quality indices. In addition, an enrichment in oil total polyphenols content was achieved. The oil fatty acid profile was not affected following irrigation with poultry wastewater. Nevertheless, there was a significant increase in the contents of oleic acid and alcohols, accompanied by a decrease in total sterols. However, heavy metals accumulation was observed in both fruits and olive oil. In conclusion, our results suggest that among the three water qualities, poultry wastewater is the best alternative to improve olive oil quality.

Effluents discharged by poultry meat industries are heavily polluted with raw materials, such as fat, blood residues, and proteins. Thus, untreated effluents directly discharged into the environment may constitute a public health threat. This study aims to evaluate the bacterial diversity of three water qualities: industrial poultry wastewater (PWW), tap water (TW), and PWW diluted with TW (50 : 50) (V/V) (TWPWW) by the combination of culture-independent and culture-dependent approaches. The total bacterial DNA was extracted using phenol/chloroform method. The hypervariable 16S rRNA region V3-V5 was amplified by PCR using universal primers. The amplicons were separated by vertical electrophoresis on a polyacrylamide gel of increasing denaturing gradient according to their richness in GC bases. Selected bands were reamplified and sequenced. Pure isolated bacteria from nutrient agar medium were characterized according to their morphological and biochemical characteristics. Genomic DNA from pure strains was extracted by boiling method, and a molecular amplification of the 16S–23S ITS region of the 16S rRNA gene was performed using the universal primers. Selected isolates were identified by sequencing. Results showed a high bacterial load and diversity in PWW in comparison with TW and TWPWW. A collection of 44 strains was obtained, and 25 of them were identified by sequencing. Proteobacteria represented 76% of isolated bacteria Gamma-Proteobacteria was the predominate isolate (68%). Other isolates were Firmicutes (8%), Bacteroidetes (12%), and Actinobacteria (8%). These isolates belong to different genera, namely, Pseudomonas, Acinetobacter, Proteus, Empedobacter, Corynebacterium, Enterobacter, Comamonas, Frondibacter, Leclercia, Staphylococcus, Atlantibacter, Klebsiella, and Microbacterium.

Industrial poultry wastewater can be considered as a bio-fertilizer due to its richness in nutritive elements (SO42−, HCO3−, total nitrogen and K+). The physico-chemical analysis of wastewater showed a high concentration of TSS, COD, BOD, COT, NO3−, and conductivity. Measurements indicated that poultry wastewater enhanced plant growth, leaves dry matter, and ashes in comparison with tap water, as well as poultry wastewater diluted with tap water, however, a decrease in total soluble sugars (glucose and fructose) was detected in leaves. The determination of fatty acid profile of young olive trees leaves irrigated with poultry wastewater showed richness on saturated fatty acids in comparison with mono- and poly-unsaturated ones. In addition, oleic acid (C18:1) presented the lowest content in leaves of trees irrigated with poultry wastewater irrigation. According to those results, poultry wastewater lends itself to being a hydric alternative and at the same time a source of nutrients that can help fill the water deficit in semi-arid countries and avoid costly waste disposal for slaughterhouses.

this paper presents one of our contributions in our palm vein recognition system, this contribution consists on region of interest extraction (ROI)in images obtained by near infrared. The proposed ROI extraction is find using a new process to find the candidate key points then a square based on perpendicular lines algorithme is used to detect the region of interest, our method is performed at 99% of correct segmentation rate.

This document presents a new approach in verification system to verify the identity of person by his intrinsic characteristics “Palm vein” which is unique, universal and easy to captured. The first step in this system is to extract the region of interest (ROI) which represent the most informative region of palm, then coding step based on nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) is presented to produce a binary vector for each ROI, next a matching step of different representative vectors is given and finally a decision is made for both identification and verification mode. This approach is tested on CASIA multispectral database; the experimentations have proved the effectiveness of this coding system in verification modes to gives 0.19% of Equal Error Rate (EER).

In this paper, we improve our palm vein recognition system to be based on phase response information of nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT). First, we localise the region of interest (ROI), next, we have divided the ROI into a non-overlapping block and we proposed an encoding method based on extracting phase response information of NSCT coefficients, then XOR pattern is applied to extract invariant from local region of the palm vein to create a palm vein template of 512 bytes. Finally, we have calculated the modified hamming distance between templates to estimate the similarity between two palm veins filtered images. The method is tested on the CASIA Multispectral Palmprint Database. The experimental results illustrate the effectiveness of this coding in two modes of biometric palm vein: 99.90% of rank-one recognition rate and 0.19% of equal error rate in verification.

Dorsal hand vein identification has been recently given greater attention in human recognition and it’s becoming increasingly an active topic in research. This paper presents a personal identification method based on dorsal hand vein texture. The Method includes four steps, in the first one, pre-processing phase is applied on the image contrast in order to produce a better quality of dorsal hand vein image, then region of interest (ROI) is extracted, in the second step, we have proposed a novel encoding method based on Nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) and phase response information then we divided the resulting image into local region, and statistical descriptors are calculated in each block in order to reduce the size of the characteristic vector and create a code of 512 bytes. Then, we computed the modified Hamming distance between templates to find out the similarity between two dorsal hand veins.
