This study takes into consideration some particularly difficult and persistent acquisitional problems that Spanish-speakers learners of L2 Italian face. In literature, the phenomena of additive transfer of Spanish periphrastic structures not present in Italian is well documented. It is the case of andare and venire + gerund, "twin" structures of ir and venir + gerund: contemplated and frequent, in Spanish, in even low and neglected diaphasic contexts, such periphrases, in standard and neo standard Italian, display stronger contextual restrictions of use, and are today limited to high diaphasic varieties of Italian. For estar + gerund and stare + gerund - the third pair of periphrases considered in this study -, we note instead, in Italian, severe aspectual restrictions: estar + gerund expresses both the progressive and the continuative aspect, while stare + gerund has specialised only in the progressive aspect. This subtle divergence gives rise to typical Spanish-Italian transfer phenomena, clearly detectable in realisations such as *sono stato lavorando tutta la notte. The psycholinguistic interpretation of such acquisitional problems is based on the difficulty of identifying the evidence that can allow the restructuring of the interlanguage: in these three cases it is indirect negative evidence, that is, the non-appearance of the structures in certain contexts or incongruence with certain aspectual values. In order to alleviate the problems of additive transfer of the three periphrases, in this paper, after deepening the psycholinguistic aspects mentioned above, we will consider if and how the pedagogical grammars of Italian for foreigners - especially Spanish speakers - deal with these discrepancies between the two languages. Finally, we will propose some pedagogical interventions that can be useful to help Spanish-speaking learners to correctly analyse the Italian input, so as to alleviate the negative interference between the two languages., Il contributo prende in considerazione alcuni problemi acquisizionali particolarmente ostici e persistenti nel processo di apprendimento dell’italiano da parte di discenti ispanofoni. Sono noti, in letteratura, i fenomeni di transfer additivo e persistente di strutture perifrastiche spagnole non presenti in italiano. È il caso di andare e venire + gerundio, strutture “gemelle” di ir e venir + gerundio: contemplate e frequenti, in spagnolo, in contesti diafasici anche bassi e trascurati, tali perifrasi, in italiano standard e neo standard, hanno perso molto “spazio” d’uso, e sono oggi relegate a varietà diafasiche molto alte della lingua. Per estar + gerundio e stare + gerundio – la terza coppia di perifrasi considerate in questo studio –, notiamo invece, in italiano, severe restrizioni aspettuali: estar + gerundio esprime sia l’aspetto progressivo che quello continuativo, mentre stare + gerundio si è specializzata solo nell’aspetto progressivo. Ne conseguono fenomeni di transfer spagnoloàitaliano tipici, ben rintracciabili in realizzazioni come *sono stato lavorando tutta la notte. L’interpretazione psicolinguistica di tali problemi acquisizionali è basata sulla difficoltà di individuazione delle prove che possano permettere la ristrutturazione dell’interlingua: in questi tre casi sono prove negative indirette, ovvero la non apparenza delle strutture in determinati contesti o incongruenza con determinati valori aspettuali. Per lenire i problemi di transfer additivo delle tre perifrasi, in questo lavoro, dopo aver approfondito gli aspetti psicolinguistici di cui sopra, considereremo se e come le grammatiche pedagogiche di italiano per stranieri – in particolar modo ispanofoni – trattano queste discrepanze fra le due lingue. Proporremo infine alcuni accorgimenti pedagogici che possono essere utili per aiutare i discenti ispanofoni ad analizzare correttamente l’input italiano, così da lenire l’interferenza negativa fra le due lingue.

This research aims to provide an interlinguistic in-depth analysis on the expression of approximation comparing Spanish and Italian constructions starting from two Spanish periphrases: venir siendo and venir a ser. In fact, such periphrastic structures are typically used by Spanish-speakers to express approximation and, based on its context, approximation can be quantitative or conveyed through relativization / euphemism, or by expressing doubt about what the speaker is stating. Firstly, the study focuses on the common and divergent features which distinguish the different nuances of approximation – often so subtle they may lead to confusion even among Spanish-speakers – when using venir siendo and venir a ser. Secondly, a contrastive analysis between Spanish and Italian shows the lack of Italian periphrases which are equivalent to venir siendo and venir a ser as to form and expression of the approximate modal value. Finally, a specifically-designed test – submitted to Italian speaking students learning Spanish – reveals the level of interpretative transparency that the two Spanish periphrases allow in five different contexts; through this test, informants also had the possibility to give linguistic solutions to translate the two Spanish periphrases into their native language., Questo studio vuole offrire un’opportunità di riflessione interlinguistica sull’espressione dell’approssimazione tra spagnolo e italiano a partire dalle due perifrasi spagnole venir siendo e venir a ser. Queste due perifrasi, infatti, sono tipicamente utilizzate dagli ispanofoni per esprimere approssimazione, la quale, a seconda del contesto, può essere di ordine quantitativo o tradursi in relativizzazione-eufemizzazione o ancora in espressione di dubbio rispetto a quanto il parlante afferma. In questo studio, si analizzano innanzitutto i punti in comune e le divergenze che caratterizzano le diverse sfumature di approssimazione – spesso talmente sottili da generare dubbi presso gli stessi ispanofoni – che possono veicolare venir siendo e venir a ser; si passa poi a un’analisi di tipo contrastivo tra spagnolo e italiano che mostrerà l’indisponibilità di perifrasi italiane corrispondenti a venir siendo e venir a ser in termini di forma e di espressione della valenza modale approssimativa. Infine, tramite un test ad hoc sottoposto a un gruppo di studenti di spagnolo italofoni, si rifletterà sia sul grado di trasparenza interpretativa che presentano per loro le due perifrasi spagnole in questione – a partire da cinque diversi  contesti d’uso proposti – sia sulle soluzioni linguistiche che offrirebbero gli informanti per renderle nella loro lingua madre.

Los estudios de adquisición lingüística confirman que la LM representa para el estudiante un "filtro" a través del cual recibe y va almacenando las estructuras de la LE. Una referencia constante a la LM puede tener consecuencias muy diferentes: por un lado puede ser positiva, dado que ayuda y/o acelera el proceso de adquisición de la LE. Por otro lado puede ser negativa, actuando como un obstáculo que dificulta o desvía el aprendizaje. De ahí que cuanto más cercanas sean la LM y la LE, a nivel tipológico, más se notarán dichas consecuencias. Se apreciarán entonces más casos de interferencia, tanto positiva (transfer positivo), como negativa (transfer negativo). El concepto de interferencia lingüística, aunque ha merecido la atención de los investigadores durante todo el siglo XX, evoluciona de forma muy profunda con las nuevas teorías de aprendizaje que se desarrollan a partir de los años Ochenta: los nuevos métodos comunicativos y accionales ponen el acento en el propósito de enseñar una lengua meta que no sea únicamente correcta desde el punto de vista de la norma gramatical, sino que también refleje su uso real y corriente por parte de los nativos. Consideremos el caso de un estudiante de italiano con LM castellana o catalano-castellana: a la luz de cuanto se acaba de argumentar, la evaluación de los fenómenos de interferencia-error lingüístico ya no se puede basar solo en la adecuación del estudiante a la norma gramatical establecida por la gramática italiana, sino que también puede traducirse en una mayor o menor adecuación de su producciones al modelo de lengua realmente utilizado por los nativos italianos. Por ejemplo, puede haber una mayor o menor adecuación entre lengua de partida y lengua de llegada a nivel diafásico, es decir a nivel de adecuación comunicativa al contexto situacional en el que se produce el acto lingüísti, The role of our mother tongue (MT) in learning another foreign language (FL) is essential. Linguistic acquisition studies have demonstrated that the MT constitutes a "filter" through which the student receives and stores the FL structures. A constant reference to the MT may have many different consequences: on one hand it can be positive as it supports and/or accelerates the FL acquisition process, whilst on the other, it can act negatively and obstruct the learning process. The more the MT and the FL share on a topological level, the stronger the consequences will be. Interferences both positive (positive transfer) and negative (negative transfer) will be detected. Despite having been investigated during the XX century, the concept of linguistic interference has and continues to evolve along with the new learning theories developed from the Eighties onwards: the new communicative and factional methods put a stress on the idea that grammatical correctness is not the sole purpose of teaching a language, but rather the common, everyday use of language by native speakers. Let's consider the case of a student of Italian with Castilian or Catalan-Castilian as MT: in the light of the debate, the evaluation of linguistic interference-mistake phenomena cannot be based on the student's use of the appropriate grammatical rule. In fact, it can be translated into a major or minor adaptation of the outcomes of the common, everyday use of Italian native speakers. For example, it could be that a major or minor adaptation between source language and target language occurs on a diaphasic level, that is to say, a level of communicative adaptation to the situational context in which the linguistic act takes place.
