Lentil contributes to sustainable farming by biological fixation of nitrogen in soils, therefore reducing the use of chemical fertilizers. It enhances health and nutrition due to its grain rich in proteins, iron, zinc and other micronutrients. Furthermore, lentil is a staple food for a large proportion of the population, thus playing an important role in food security. In Morocco, lentil is grown in rainfed areas as part of the cereal-based cropping system. However, despite the importance of lentil, the country still relies on imports to cover local demand. Breeding towards high yielding, biotic and abiotic resistant and adapted varieties corresponding to farmer’s needs are at utmost importance to enhance and sustain crop productivity. Clear review of the achievements, specific constraints analysis and improvement objectives definition could contribute to operational design of future prospects. «Bayoud», a vascular wilt disease, has become for more than a century a serious threat to date palm in Moroccan oases. The strategic importance of date palm cultivation to oasis agriculture drives the intensification of date production through new investment projects on soils that are potentially healthy, but very close to infested areas. The success of these investments requires drastic prophylactic and pathogen exclusion measures. In this work, we summarize the main research results to underpin this effort. We analyze the epidemiological situation of Bayoud disease in Morocco and we bring insight to integrated management based on early detection, cartography, and genetic resistance to wall-off the disease and secure the investments in the new date palm growing areas. L’effet des plantes sur les microorganismes du sol et les rétroactions entre les microbes et les plantes sont devenus le focus de beaucoup de recherche. Les dernières avancées dans le domaine des interactions plantes-microbes montrent que les plantes sont capables de façonner le microbiome de leur rhizosphère via des mécanismes divers. Dans cette revue, nous rassemblons des résultats de multiples études sur le rôle des plantes dans l’altération de la structure et des fonctions des microorganismes au niveau de la rhizosphère. En outre, nous discutons les rôles de différentes substances phytochimiques dans la médiation de ces effets. Finalement, nous soulignons que l’enrichissement sélectif de microorganismes spécifiques a aussi bien des rétroactions négatives, avec l’accumulation de pathogènes dans la rhizosphère, que positives, suite au recrutement de microflore bénéfique. Une meilleure compréhension des mécanismes qui régissent la sélection de microorganismes ayant des rétroactions positives ouvrira de nouvelles possibilités pour l’amélioration de la production agricole. Recent advances in plant-microbe interactions investigations show that plants are able to shape their rhizosphere microbiome through diverse mechanisms. In this review, we gather findings from across multiple studies on the role of plants in altering the structure and functions of microbes in the rhizosphere. In addition, we discuss the roles of diverse phytochemicals in mediating these effects. Finally, we highlight that selective enrichment of specific microorganisms in the rhizosphere has either negative feedbacks, with pathogen accumulation in the rhizosphere; or, perhaps most importantly, positive feedbacks as a result of the recruitment of a beneficial microflora. Insights into the mechanisms that underpin plant selection of microbial communities with positive feedbacks will provide new opportunities to increase crop production. le blé dur (Triticum turgidum var. durum) est la troisième espèce la plus cultivée au monde et la deuxième au Maroc. Ce travail a pour objectif d’étudier l’influence de l’environnement et du fond génétique sur l’adaptation, le rendement et ses composantes ainsi que sur la qualité technologique de deux populations de blé dur (76 accessions et 120 lignées recombinées). Deux essais de génotypes blé dur ont été installés dans deux stations expérimentales de l’INRA à savoir Sidi El Aidi et Merchouch. Des observations concernant la croissance, le rendement et la qualité technologique du grain récolté ont été effectuées et analysées. L’analyse en composantes principales (ACP) a permis de faire des groupes homogènes et des associations des caractères de différentes accessions et RILs. L’analyse de certains aspects de qualité (Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS), Taux de Vitrosité (TV), Indice de Jaune (IJ) et Taux de Cendres (TC)) a permis de déceler une variabilité importante et similaire pour les deux populations. L’analyse électro-phorétique a montrée que 58 % des accessions et 62 % des LR  présentent une bonne force de gluten. En plus, il y avait des corrélations entre ces caractères d’une part, et entre ces mêmes caractères et les caractères agro-morphologiques d’autre part. La constitution des deux populations a montrée une grande variabilité multi-axe, ce qui démontre une grande possibilité de combinaison de gènes et d’adaptation. Ce matériel contient une grande part d’ingrédients génétiques nécessaires pour un programme d’amélioration génétique méditerranéen.    Mots clés: Blé dur, accessions, lignées recombinantes, variabilité génétique, caractères agro-morphologiques, caractères technologiques. &nbsp, Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum var. Durum) is the third mostly grown crop in the world and second in Morocco. This work aims to study the influence the genetic and the environmental effect on the adaptation, the yield and its components and on the grain quality of two durum wheat populations (76 durum accessions and 120 Recombinant Inbred Lines (RILs)). Two trials were installed in two INRA experimental stations, namely Sidi El Aidi (Settat) and Merchouch (Rabat). Several measurements on growth and phenological stages were carried out and analyzed and quality traits were measured in laboratory after harvest. The Principal Components Analysis (ACP) was performed to relate phenological traits and grain quality traits among RILs and accessions. Analysis of certain aspects of quality (Dodecyl Sodium Sulphates (SDS), Vitreousness Rate (TV), Yellow Index (IJ) and Ash content (TC) also allowed to detect an important and similar variability for the two populations. The electrophoresis analysis showed that 58% from the accessions and 62% of RILs present a good gluten force. Moreover, there were correlations between these characters on the one hand, and these characters and the agromorphologic characters on the other hand. A great multi-axis variability was observed which can serve as a base for new variation. This variation is controlled by many useful genes which can be used in durum wheat programs to release new varieties adapted to Moroccan environment and presenting good quality genes for durum wheat. Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) can be a significant eco-friendly alternative power source for vehicles. However, under subfreezing conditions, cell degradation and irreversible performance decay can occur because of ice formation and repetitive thaw/freeze cycles. These problems have limited the further commercialization of PEMFC in cold weather countries. Thus, many improvements have been made to repair the freeze protection and rapid cold startup problems in PEMFC vehicles. In this paper, a comprehensive review dedicated to engineers of the recent research progress on the PEMFC cold start problems is presented. Systems and methods for fuel cell shutdown are summarized and classified into two categories: purge solution and material to avoid freezing. Regarding the system and solutions for PEMFC cold startup, different heating solutions are classified into two main groups depending on their heating sources and categorized as internal and external heating methods. This paper concludes with a detailed review of cold startup strategies based on an exhaustive survey of journal papers and patents. © 2016 IEEE.

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L) is the most widely grown crop in the world and accounts for approximately 31% of global cereal consumption every year (FAO, 2012). Furthermore, wheat is the most traded product worldwide (Dixon et al. 2009). In UK, wheat is the largest arable crop, it is grown on about 1.8 M ha p.a. For wheat productivity and grain quality, nitrogen (N) is the most important fertilizer applied, and modern wheat culitvars are generally selected under high N supply. However, N fertilizer represents a significant cost of production and may have negative environmental impacts. N-use efficiency (grain DM yield / soil and fertilizer N available; NUE) can be divided into two main components: N-uptake efficiency (N uptake / soil and fertilizer N available; NUPE) and N-utilization. efficiency (grain DM yield / NUP; NUTE). The current study aims to identify novel variation for grain yield, above-ground dry matter (AGDM). NUE and NUE components in a panel of AE Watkins landraces compared to UK check cultivars in the glasshouse and field trials and in two Single Seed Descent (SSD) populations derived from the crosses between UK spring wheat Paragon and Watkins landrace line 481 (PxW481) and between Paragon and Watkins landrace line 141 (PxW141) in field experiments and to investigate the physiological and genetic bases of this variation. Two glasshouse experiments (2011/12 and 2012/13) examining 17 genotypes (comprising five UK check cultivars and 12 Watkins landraces), and one field experiment (2011/12) examining a panel of 10 genotypes (comprising three UK cultivars and seven of the 12 Watkins landraces examined in the field) were carried out. In addition, three field experiments examining two SSD populations PxW481 (79 lines) (in 2011/12 and 2012/13) and PxW141 (97 lines) (in 2012/13) under two N treatments (HN=200 kg N/ha and LN=0 kg N/ha) were carried out.
